Audio problem with Captivate 7

Hello All,
I’ve had an issue in the past that when I create an MP4 file in Captivate 7 using a windows PC, the volume is too low when the published mp4 file is played on a MAC.  I was able to use the Audio Processing setting under the Adjust Volume control on the Edit Audio screen (Edit Audio-> Adjust Volume -> Normalize (select the best volume) to get better audio on the PC.  However, when the published files are played on a MAC the audio settings are lost and have to be re-done and re-published using Captivate 7 on a MAC (so I need two versions of the software).  Is there a way I can create/publish the files on the PC and have them work the same way on a MAC with the audio settings intact?
Thank you,
Andre

Hello Nathan,
Please Go to Edit > Prefrences > SWF size and quality and uncheck Advanced Project compression and Compress SWF file.
And then select All slides from Filmstrip and change the Slide Qulaity to be High(24 bit).
Then save your project and republish to a new location , see if this makes any difference or not.
Thanks

  • Audio problem with Captivate

    Can anyone help?
I have created a sound bite for a Captivate slide. All works
well within Captivate interface. re: Play this slide. However, when
I try to preview ... no audio! When I publish to SWF ... no audio!
Research on Adobe site tells me there is an issrue with Flash on
the first slide and to change start timing to 0.1 secs. Did that!
    Still no luck.
Can this be resolved? Please help!

If Adobe support assured you that CP4 will run on Vista 64-bit without any problems then they don't know what they are talking about.
Captivate 4 does not run on Vista 64-bit and the problems you are describing are identical to the ones I have on my Vista 64-bit system.

  • Problem With Captivate 4 and Windows 8

    Hi,
    I've a problem with Captivate 4 on Windows 8 projects :
    The mouse is not tracked.
I've applied the last patch for this version (11/15/2011).
Is there another patch for this ?
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi there
I know this will come off as sounding snarky, but please know it's honestly not intended that way,
    Windows 8?
I never was able to make Captivate 4 run successfully on Windows 7. So I'm not the least bit surprised to hear it has issues with Windows 8!
Personally, I'm thinking you are due for an upgrade to Captivate if you want it to work on Windows 8. But then again, I'm not even certain if Captivate 6 is Windows 8 compatible.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Firewire audio problems with OS X 10.5.6

    Hello,
I’m experiencing audio problems with Firewire 400 on my Macbook running Mac OSX 10.5.6.
I’ve got a 2.4Ghz IntelCore 2 Duo with 4 GB RAM and 59 GB available on the internal HD.
It’s hooked up to a brand new Mackie D.4 mixer with 2 Firewire outputs. The problems occur on both Firewire outputs.
I’ve installed automatically from the software update (which I will never do again) to 10.5.6. I never tried the D.4 with 10.5.5 so I can’t tell if the problems occur there also.
The main problem is that after a couple of minutes of recording the sound starts to break up and get really distorted. After a while the sound comes back again.
The second problem is that Soundtrack Pro or Audacity don’t get any audio input from the D.4, although audio input is clearly visible in System Preferences – Sound.
The only sound program that works with all 14 Firewire channels is Ableton, but also in Ableton the distortion occurs.
An example of the distortion can be checked here:
    http://media.kaalslag.com/firewire-distortion-problem-mackieD4+Macbook.mp3
I’ve roamed several forums and sites to solve the problem and I tried these solutions:
I updated again to 10.5.6. with the full combo download from the Apple site. Restarted. Problem still there.
I shut Airport off, because lots of sites mentioned problems with Airport conflicting with audio/firewire. Didn’t work.
I did the work around with shutting the Macbook off, disconnecting the D.4, restarting the Macbook, opening Audio/Midi Setup, connecting the D.4 again, toggling the format frequencies a couple of times. Again, no use.
Right now I’m using my “old” Macbook again to record from vinyl. This one is still running on OSX 10.4.11. No problems so far.
I’ve had the distortion problems occuring before with an USB interface. Hoped that the Mackie Firewire would solve the problem, but it seems now that there’s a serious audio Firewire problem which is still not solved in OSX 10.5.
Any help, tips and/or a work around would be much appreciated. Thanks!

You could try using another computer in Target Disk mode (as an "external HD"), or you can connect the firewire cable and disconnect all other network cables (turning off airport). Then on each computer go to the "Network" system preferences and select "Built-in Firewire" from the list of ports and choose "Manually" from the drop-down menu next to "Configure". Enter the following IP addresses and subnet masks, apply the changes.
    _Computer 1_
    IP Address: 192.168.1.1
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    _Computer 2_
    IP Address: 192.168.1.2
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
After those ip addresses are entered and you've clicked "Apply", ensure that for both computers you have file sharing enabled (done in the "Sharing" system preferences), and then check the Finder sidebar to see if the computers can see each other (their names should appear under "Shared" in the sidebar--if not, try restarting).
If the computers dont appear (even after restarting), using the "Connect To" option that's available in the Finder's "Go" menu. In there, to connect to another computer enter it's IP address as follows:
    afp://IP_ADDRESS
If you're on the computer with the ip address of 192.168.1.1, you would enter 192.168.1.2 as "IP_ADDRESS". The "afp" is the protocol (just like "http" for web), and stands for "Apple Filing Protocol"...Apple's file sharing protocol.

  • Problems with Captivate 5, LMS, and AS3

I recently acquired Captivate 5 and I am having difficulty getting it to work with our LMS (Plateau). When I publish a presentation to AICC using Captivate 5, and try to load it in the LMS, it doesn't get past the loading page. I've tried it with an existing course, and I've tried making a simple (3 slides with a text box) new presentation in Captivate 5 and I have the same problem. However, the .swf and .htm files load fine when viewed directly. It's only when run through the LMS that I have a problem.
I  was able to reproduce the problem with Captivate 4 by publishing to  ActionScript3. It worked fine when I used AS2. Unfortunately, Captivate 5  doesn't allow publishing to AS2, so I'm at a loss of how to address  this.
Any suggestions? Is anybody else experiencing this problem?

What brand is your LMS?  (What manufacturer)
What versions of SCORM does it support?
What version of ActionScript does your LMS support?  AS2 or AS3?
Have you tried uploading a short Captivate 5 lesson with only a few slides and one or two questions (example: True False question)?
If you have Captivate 3 or 4, have you tried uploading a lesson in AS2 to see if your LMS accepts it?
We need more information than just saying: Course not work.
Test first on very simple short lessons to make sure the LMS will accept Captivate 5 content at all.  If it will play simple content, try more complex content.
Your issue could be caused by some component or object in the course, or it could be some issue with the LMS.  At this stage we do not know the cause, but it can often be determined by testing with simple projects first and then adding complexity until something breaks.

  • USB audio problems with 2013 iMac

I'm having a strange audio problem with USB microphones and headsets. The issue with my Logitech H650e is shown in this screencast I recorded. In the first part of the screencast, I am not speaking into the mic—yet you can see the levels fluctuating as if there is static playing (not in a natural pattern that you'd see when someone is speaking). In the next part of the video I demonstrate that selecting the built-in iMac mic for input, and then re-selecting the Logitech headset temporarily solves the problem. You can see the input start to fluctuate normally as it should when I am speaking. But at 0:31 in the screencast, you can see the input levels freeze and stop registering anything. I continued to speak until the end of the screencast, but no input was detected. For this screencast, I was on a Go To Webinar call, but the problem occurs regardless of whether I'm using Skype, Go To Webinar, GarageBand or any other software.
The problem with my Blue Yeti USB microphone is also different. In that case, the input does not freeze as it does with the Logitech headset. The levels appear as you would expect, and it seems to work. However, the person on the other end can hear static in the background, even though I don't hear it in my own headphones. I learned this because I just tried to do a Skype interview with the Blue Yeti, and the interviewer told me they could hear static. We closed Skype and called each other back twice, but the problem persisted. Then, suspecting the problem was related to what I described above with the Logitech, I unplugged the Yeti and then plugged it into my Macbook Air 2013 (also running Mavericks). Lo and behold the static completely disappeared.
My Griffin iMic and Audio Technica lavalier mic (attached to the iMic) behaves similarly to the Yeti, except in this case I can hear the static when I speak with my monitoring headphones. The input works but I get a lot of cracking and static in the background. This was confirmed by calling the Skype Test Call number and recording a message, which is then played back.
    Here are the facts:
All 3 of my USB audio microphones/headsets do not work with my 2013 iMac running Mavericks
All 3 of these microphones/headsets worked fine with my 2008 Mac Pro running Mountain Lion
All 3 of these microphones/headsets work fine with my 2013 Macbook Air running Mavericks
In this other thread, several people are reporting similar issues with the iMac 2013 and Mavericks. At least two people did not have the issue when the iMac 2013 was running Mountain Lion. This of course suggests the issue is the combination of the iMac 2013 and Mavericks.

  • Audio problems with Droid/X

When sending voice messages using Cloudtalk, the recipient hears only garbage. I contacted Cloudtalk technical support, and it appears that the 3gp file sent by the phone is not recognized. This problem is known by them, and happens only on Droid/X.
Anyone else is experiencing audio problems with the droid/x?

That doesn't sound like an audio issue with the X, it sounds like a compatibility issue between the X and the service.

  • Audio problems with CHS 435

Hello all, I'm having audio problems with my FiOS set top box. When I start to change channels I lose audio and can't get it back unless I turn the TV off/on or I change the HDMI source on my TV . Seems after changing a couple of channels the problem happens. I've tried the in home agent auto correct, and different HDMI cables. I have a Westinghouse TV and I'll try a firmware update for the TV and see if that fixes it. Any fix for this and the possibility that it might be the set top box ? I just got FiOS and all is going well besides this issue. Seems that the other STB that are model # 335 aren't having this problem.

Some TVs have had issues with the HDMI handshake and the Audio. You may be required to use the separate bulkier HD Component cables with separate audio cables. Or try it as a solution on that TV.
I have CHS 435 DVR on a Samsung, and 2 CHS 335s on different model Vizio TVs, all with HDMI, and no issues. Others have reported different issues. I did a search here with the following results. Perhaps this information will help.

  • Audio Problems with some HD channels (HBO mostly)

I'm experiencing sporadic audio problems with a handful of HD channels.  Most noticably on HBO.
When the audio is output through the television itself, it sounds OK... however if the audio is output through my home theater receiver and speakers, I can hear a lot of static and "crackling" on certain movies and shows.
The issue isn't the home theater setup, as I have several other components that use it (AppleTV, Bluray, Xbox, etc.) and the audio sounds perfect from them.
The only device that displays that poor audio is the FiOS Set Top Box and even then it's only on a few channels.
I thought maybe that the optical audio cable between the set top box and the receiver may have been bad, so I replaced that.  Same problem even with the new cable.
The problem is either with the Set Top Box itself or the audio levels on the stream from the channel provider.
Has anyone experienced anything similar to this, and if so... did you resolve it somehow?
Any help you could provide would be most appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Check the following.
Help & Settings > Settings > Entitlement Information
Here are possible entitlements mapped to channels.
    101 - 104 :  PSB HD
    407 - 433 :  Essential Extra / Unlimited Extra
    446 - 453 :  HD Extra
    501       :  Sky Sports 1
    502       :  Sky Sports 2
    507 - 509 :  BT Sport SD
    510 - 512 :  BT Sport HD
    513 - 514 :  Essential Extra / Unlimited Extra
    530 - 540 :  Sky Movies
    555 - 563 :  Kids Extra
You need 'HD Extra' for channels 446 - 453. I have the free 'BT Sport HD' but that does not cover entertainment HD channels. You need to subscribe to the HD Extra bolt-on for £3 for them. Have you ordered HD Extra (it only became available from last Sunday)?

  • Audio problems preloaded Captivate swfs in custom player

I have a slideshow-like custom Flash player that uses
standard preloader code - it loads external swf movieclips into a
holder clip, and stores references to them in an array. Once all
external swfs are loaded, the first clip starts playing and
navigation buttons allow the user to go through the "slides" at
    will.
The problem: some Captivate-generated swf files have audio
that starts playing as the clips are preloading, and the audio does
not stop except with a stopAllSounds call. As needed, each loaded
swf is copied (so to speak) from the array to a clip on the stage,
loadedClip_mc, to be played and controlled. The player's pause
    button, which works as follows:
    loadedClip_mc.stop()
has no effect on the sound of the loaded Captivate clips.
Furthermore, the audio doubles-up when trying to play any
slide, and clicking play (loadedClip_mc.play() )
HERE IS THE MOST CONFUSING PART: this ONLY happens when the
player and the movies to be loaded are uncached - after the files
are visited for the first time, everything works great. Anytime you
revisit the player it is fine. However, if it is the first time
someone is visiting the custom player, or the browser cache is
cleared, once you visit the page the audio for all Captivates start
playing during preloading simultaneously and cannot be controlled.
Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi. I've experienced the same problem with audio and preload.
Sorry for my english, but - I dont know if I've understood the
matter- I think you are talking about to fix this problem using
actionscript code. Please, would you answer me one question? If I
can't change the code of the base clip generated by Captivate, is
it possible to add some code in my loaded clips to stop that audio
embedded in them when they are preloading? What would this code
    be?.
    I hope you understand me!
    Thank you.

  • Audio problem with 2gen ipod touch

Recently I've been having issues with my second generation Ipod Touch and I'm hoping that someone will be able to help me. The problem is a bit strange, so please bear with me as I try to explain it.
As I said, I have a second generation 8GB Ipod Touch that hasn't been too problematic until now. Recently it has been having major audio issues. I was listening to it with my headphones one day when the audio cut out. I thought I had paused the track by accident, but according to the screen, the audio was still playing, however the volume bar had vanished as though no headphones were connected at all. I popped the headphones out and then in again; it worked for a few moments before the problem happened again. I had thought it was just a problem with my headphones until it happened again with a different set and then the audio jack for my car stereo. All the cords are fully pushed in, I checked that problem immediately. It will randomly happen where the audio will cut out and the volume bar will vanish, like it would with nothing connected to it.
Another issue that I noticed is with my external speakers. For whatever reason they are no longer working, just like the headphones, the volume bar is gone and will not return no matter if the music is playing/paused or if I attempt to adjust it with the buttons on the side.
I have never had a real issue with this Ipod and I'd love to know if there's an explanation or if I should just attempt to take it into the Apple Store and see what they can make of it.
Thanks in advance, feel free to ask any questions and I apologize if the explanation was rubbish.

I've seen that kind of issue when there's a problem with the dock connector.  It's somehow detecting something plugged into the bottom.  You should try to make sure there's nothing stuck in or around the dock connector such as lint or some thing else.
Also make sure you backup and restore your ipod to make sure you take care of any software issues that may be causing this to occur.
Lastly if it still happens, you should definitely take it in for service.

  • Problems with captivate 8 and windows 8

I´m using captivate 8 and windows 8, and I am having problems with the visualization and publication of my projects. For visualization, there is a message of an error with syntax of the files ou directory, and nothing happens. For publication, I can´t see the project published in the browser. It opens only a text file, with the codes. Is there anyone thar can help me with that?

Acrobat 8 is not certified for Win7, particularly the x64 version. If you got the installation to go, the first step is to update AA8 to at least AA8.2. The x64 with XP required at least AA8.2 and I suspect that has not changed. I would suggest updating to the latest, either from the help menu (until no more updates are available) or by downloading the updates from the adobe.com>downloads page. For the latter, download ALL updates after your current version and install them in ORDER. They are not cummulative in most cases. You only need to reboot after the final update. The updates may get you going. If not, you may simply have to upgrade to AA9 or search for what others have been able to do in your situation.

  • Audio-Problem with Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 by using long Clips in AVC-Intra Codec (4Gb Border)

    Hello
We own a Panasonic camera (AJ-PX5000G) and we film in 1080p50 with the AVC-Intra100 Codec. When importing longer clips in Premiere Pro, the video is fully loaded, but the waveform of the sound ends at the Time Code 00:02:28:35.
Sometimes the sound could be played after this Timecode but otherwise there is no audio. Even if we use the same clip several times we see that it works sometimes and sometimes not. It looks random.
We also tried to import the Clips with Adobe Prelude directly from the P2-Card but there are the same problems.
The Clips in 1080p50 AVC-Intra100 have a bitrate of 227Mbps. After 2 Minutes and 28 Seconds 4Gb are written on the P2-Card and the Camera starts a new picture file and 4 sound files..
It looks like Adobe Premiere Pro has problems with the correct relation of the files that all get together to one clip.
Is there anybody who can confirm this problem? Can anybody help me with this Premiere Problem?

  • Problem with Captivate KO

    Hi,
I have a little problem with the Captivate KO. I built five
Captivate KO up to an Interaction-icon as HotSpots. The problem is,
that after finishing the Flash-movie there is only a white
presentation window. AW doesn't go back to the Display-icon, where
you can choose the HotSpots. The properties of the HotSpots are
"Perpetual", "Branch: Return" and "Erase: On Exit". I've tried on
"Erase: After Next Entry", it's the same result as "On Exit", both
are finishing with a white window. I've tried "Before Next Entry"
also, but the Flash doesn't play.
Does anyone know what I have to do, that AW goes back to the
    Display-Icon?
    Many thank's for any help!
    hannah

If the hotspot branching is set to Return then they must be
    perpetual.
Is there a reason that needs to be? Can you put the image on
    the
interaction icon, make the hotspots not perpetual and set
    them to
Continue - so when the KO is complete it loops back to the
    interaction
icon and redisplays the image you want to show...
Do you have anything holding the flow at the KO while it
    plays? If not,
then surely the flowline in hitting the KO then jumping right
    back
(Returning) to where it came from...though it's then odd that
    the
'Erase: On Exit' is not erasing the KO contents (maybe; I've
    never used
    that KO).
Trace your flowline and/or hit ctrl-b on occasion to see
    where in the
flowline your course is at any given point - then maybe you
    can
determine how and when to make the display reappear. My guess
    is you'll
need an erase icon to erase the Flash sprite/control which
    may be the
white area you see covering your display.
