Audio problems preloaded Captivate swfs in custom player

I have a slideshow-like custom Flash player that uses
standard preloader code - it loads external swf movieclips into a
holder clip, and stores references to them in an array. Once all
external swfs are loaded, the first clip starts playing and
navigation buttons allow the user to go through the "slides" at
will.
The problem: some Captivate-generated swf files have audio
that starts playing as the clips are preloading, and the audio does
not stop except with a stopAllSounds call. As needed, each loaded
swf is copied (so to speak) from the array to a clip on the stage,
loadedClip_mc, to be played and controlled. The player's pause
button, which works as follows:
loadedClip_mc.stop()
has no effect on the sound of the loaded Captivate clips.
Furthermore, the audio doubles-up when trying to play any
slide, and clicking play (loadedClip_mc.play() )
HERE IS THE MOST CONFUSING PART: this ONLY happens when the
player and the movies to be loaded are uncached - after the files
are visited for the first time, everything works great. Anytime you
revisit the player it is fine. However, if it is the first time
someone is visiting the custom player, or the browser cache is
cleared, once you visit the page the audio for all Captivates start
playing during preloading simultaneously and cannot be controlled.
Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi. I've experienced the same problem with audio and preload.
Sorry for my english, but - I dont know if I've understood the
matter- I think you are talking about to fix this problem using
actionscript code. Please, would you answer me one question? If I
can't change the code of the base clip generated by Captivate, is
it possible to add some code in my loaded clips to stop that audio
embedded in them when they are preloading? What would this code
be?.
I hope you understand me!
Thank you.

  • Audio problems w/Captivate 4

I have just upgraded from 3 to 4, and am experiencing audio problems when I publish in 4, and I have installed the July fix.  Historically I have used Audacity to wash the audio before I published in 3.  I also published at 56kbps to keep the finished file size smaller.  Now when I publish in 4 I get a "swimming-echo" sound in the audio.  It gets better if I publish at a higher quality rate, but my file size doubles.  I also notice in Audacity that I now get  stereo tracks when I export the audio from Captivate 4 and I got a mono export in 3.  Is that part of the problem?  Anyone else having this problem? Any ideas on how to correct it?

  • Audio problem with Captivate

    Can anyone help?
I have created a sound bite for a Captivate slide. All works
well within Captivate interface. re: Play this slide. However, when
I try to preview ... no audio! When I publish to SWF ... no audio!
Research on Adobe site tells me there is an issrue with Flash on
the first slide and to change start timing to 0.1 secs. Did that!
    Still no luck.
Can this be resolved? Please help!

If Adobe support assured you that CP4 will run on Vista 64-bit without any problems then they don't know what they are talking about.
Captivate 4 does not run on Vista 64-bit and the problems you are describing are identical to the ones I have on my Vista 64-bit system.

  • Audio problem with Captivate 7

    Hello All,
I’ve had an issue in the past that when I create an MP4 file in Captivate 7 using a windows PC, the volume is too low when the published mp4 file is played on a MAC.  I was able to use the Audio Processing setting under the Adjust Volume control on the Edit Audio screen (Edit Audio-> Adjust Volume -> Normalize (select the best volume) to get better audio on the PC.  However, when the published files are played on a MAC the audio settings are lost and have to be re-done and re-published using Captivate 7 on a MAC (so I need two versions of the software).  Is there a way I can create/publish the files on the PC and have them work the same way on a MAC with the audio settings intact?
    Thank you,
    Andre

    Hello Nathan,
Please Go to Edit > Prefrences > SWF size and quality and uncheck Advanced Project compression and Compress SWF file.
And then select All slides from Filmstrip and change the Slide Qulaity to be High(24 bit).
Then save your project and republish to a new location , see if this makes any difference or not.
    Thanks

  • Captivate 5.5: Problems with export SWF to MP4

I recorded a screencast of several moving graphs by using the FMR-mode in Captivate 5.5. The flash file looks pretty good, but I am unhappy with the MP4 that I exported afterwards because it is jerky. Is it usual that there are losses due to the compression or did I just use the wrong settings? Is it possible to export an MP4 file that looks just as good as the SWF? Do you have any recommandations regarding the settings?
I am inserting some features with Final Cut afterwards. To avoid further compression losses, I would appreciate some hints regarding the settings in Compressor. The final file shall be an MP4.
Do you think with the HD screencast function of Captivate 6 or 7, my problems would be solved?
Thanks a lot for your help!

    Hey Lilybiri,
thank you for your answer. I tried pretty much everything, default settings like SD / HD widescreen as well as custom settings in all different kinds. I even implemented a 30 frames-extra (http://www.tecwriter.de/wordpress/captivate-5-5-exklusiver-spezialtipp-mp4-output-verbesse rn/), but nothing helped. and i am not sure, if captivate's FMR function is the problem, as the swf is much less jerky.

  • Captivate 7.  audio problem.  Echoes

Captivate 7.  audio problem.  During playback my audio (mp3 inserts) echoes in a major way.

With the help of Adobe tech support we found the answer.  Two things:
    Run an update
If the echo is due to an import (eg.PowerPoint)
Go back to PowerPoint strip any sound you may have in it out
Bring the import in again making sure you do so with "High Fidelity"
    Insert sound again

  • Audio problems when publishing to YouTube with Adobe Captivate 5.5

I was using Audacity to record audio, then importing the audio into Adobe Captivate 5.5. One I recorded earlier, before my computer was changed, but published into YouTube after it was changed published fine. But now, after doing recordings with Audacity and within Captivate itself, on different computers and everything, I am getting no sound when publishing to YouTube. It sounds fine in Captivate, but I get zilch sound in YouTube. I have tried different computers to record and listen to the video, different microphones, different audio levels, but to no avail. What am I doing wrong?

  • Audio doubling in imported SWFs

I am currently putting a Captivate presentation together by designing each slide in Flash, publishing the SWFs and then importing the SWFs into Captivate. Of the 30 or so SWFs I need to import, I've only managed to get about 3 slides imported before this problem started. I have audio and narration embedded into the SWFs instead of bringing them directly into Captivate in order to more easily set animation timings based on the narration. I'd like to keep it that way, though I know including the audio in Captivate only would likely solve the issue.
In my first 2 slides, the audio included in the SWFs sounds fine. By the third slide, my SWF audio is suddenly doubling, starting and then starting again about 1/2 a second later. This is evident even in the small preview thumbnail that plays when you click on the SWF in the library.
As a test, I removed the narration audio from the first SWF I had trouble with and tried importing it into Captivate again, and there was no audio problem. I removed and then replaced the audio within Flash, republished, and the audio issue was still there, doubling up on itself with a 1/2 second delay.
Publishing settings for the first two slides are exactly the same as the third slide. I've even imported further slides to see if the problem persists with them, and it does.
I'm at my wit's end. Does anybody have any suggestions?

    FIXED. What an odd solution.
After much futzing around, I ended up trying to change the Flash Player the SWFs were being published for to Flash Player 9. I got the notification that the TLF Text inside the FLA file was not supported in Flash Player 9, so it would be converted to Classic Text.
I did so, republished the file and I had no audio echo!
As a test, I tried publishing under Flash Player 11, but still changed the TLF text to Classic text. No audio echo!
I changed the text back to TLF and republished. Audio echo returned!
I have NO idea why, but the presence of TLF text in a FLA file will bugger with audio.
    So there you have it.

  • Controlling Embedded Captivate SWFs

    Hi:
    I have a SWF (SWF A) that I'm loading into a movieclip
(Movieclip C)which is part of another SWF (SWF B). Basically, SWF B
functions as a player, with play and pause controls. These controls
control Movieclip C where the external SWF A is loaded into.
Normally, I have had no problem with this and it always
works. At run time, when you click the pause button on SWF B, a
stop() command is issued to Movieclip C, which stops the play of
the external movieclip (SWF A) loaded into it.
However, I did a screen capture with Captivate and published
it as a SWF. I loaded this SWF (SWF A) into Movieclip C in SWF B at
run time. However, clicking the controls on SWF I created has NO
EFFECT on the SWF I created in Captivate. It just keeps playing.
I guess all SWFs are NOT created equal. How can I make this
    work?
By the way, I do not want to use the embedded controls that
    come with Captivate.

I'll bet it does have an effect, but you just don't see the
    effect
    you're expecting.
    > It just keeps playing.
    > I guess all SWFs are NOT created equal. How can I
    > make this work?
A SWF is a SWF is a SWF. They are all created equal, from a
    certain
point of view. Flash Paper SWFs are just SWFs, at bottom,
    even though they
have additional functionality. Captivate SWFs are also just
    SWFs -- which
means they must adhere to the MovieClip class, all of whose
    methods,
properties, and events are listed in the "MovieClip class"
    entry of the
    ActionScript 2.0 Language Reference.
It may be that Captivate nests its SWFs, so that you need to
    adjust your
target when telling a given movie clip container what to do.
    Would you show
    the exact ActionScript you're using?

  • Is there a way to remove captivate swf click listeners?

Hi, this is my first time posting.  After a lot of searching and no answers I figure maybe someone here knows.
Short background: I have a captivate Sim that is being loaded into a sim viewer of a courseware.  The sim viewer has it's own directional pointers, feedback boxes, and instructional boxes.  To get all of this working correctly has been difficult, and I'm using AS3, Captivate 4, Flash CS4, and export for Flash Player 10 for the unloadAndStop() command to clean it up when no longer needed.
My question: is it possible to directly remove the event listener that captivate is using to listen for mouse clicks? (and add it back when needed)
I have the correct/incorrect calling a Javascript.  On incorrect, it is set to one attempt, but the javascript tells it to:
    loaderPath.content.rdcmndPause = 1;
    loaderPath.content.rdcmndGotoSlide = loaderPath.content.rdinfoCurrentSlide;
    loaderPath.content.rdcmndResume = 1;
so, it does not really go anywhere when they get it wrong (kind of a rig for unlimited attempts with incorrect callback)
The sim I'm using requires that it can be "paused" in essence, with an opaque layer over it.  The problem is that it STILL gets the mouse clicks even through this layer.  I managed to create a conditional rig to fix that (a Boolean that when set to false, does not evaluate the javascript calls i get for correct and incorrect clicks).  but I still have a problem where when the Sim is active, there is a drag and drop instructions box, and when it's released, it evaluates incorrect.
so, I'm sorry if that is confusing, but I'm basically wondering if there is a way to block captivate from getting the mouse click on an evaluation slide when you don't want it to?

That would not really solve my issue at all.  I need it to not register a click for correct OR incorrect at a certain point in time (when they are dragging an information window and they drop it).
Say that I have a screen with a large click box on it, that is correct, and the rest of the screen is incorrect.  If they just happen to drag and drop the information window over part of the correct box I obviously do not want it registering as the correct answer.  I need a way to block all mouse click and release information from communicating with the Captivate .swf (but also the ability to turn it back on).

  • Executing actionscript at the start of a Captivate swf

    Hello,
I'd like to run the stopAllSounds actionscript function when my swf is loaded. Is there a way to do this with advanced actions, or some other method?
    Thanks!

Thanks, but I don't think that will work. The problem I am trying to workaround is that when a user leaves the page that contains a Captivate swf
with audio, the audio continues to play. So when the user lands on another page that contains another swf with audio, you end up with multiple narrations talking at the same time.  I want to do something to stop any currently playing audio before starting the audio from another swf. Ideally, I'd like to be able to stop all sounds when the user navigates away from the page that runs the swf. But I can't figure out a way to do that.
This cpCmndMute sounds like it does the same thing as pressing the mute button--but I need the sound file itself to be stopped.
    Thanks!

  • Strange audio problem playback

I have what's probably an easy problem but can't find an
answer anywhere here. When using "Play" or using the return key to
preview my project in Flash 8 on OS X, I can't stop the audio. The
audio is an MP3 voice over.
Pressing "Stop" or using the return key again stops the
playhead, but the audio continues no matter what I do. I can go
back to the beginning and play it again, and now I'll have two VOs
going on at once. The only way I can get the audio to stop is by
    closing out the project.
This is making timing my animation to match what the VO is
    saying very difficult. Any ideas?

I am having the same problem, but only after reinstalling XP
and all my software on a new hard drive. My previous hard drive
hadn't had a fresh install of XP in three years and was giving me
intermittent problems. However my swf's work properly on the old
drive but not the new one. I'm guessing it's one of my updates of
Firefox, flash player (was using 9,0,28,0 but now am 9,0,45,0). My
scenario is complicated because I'm using Flash Media Server, but
again it works on one drive and not the other. The odd thing for me
is that if I create my swf on the new drive with 9,0,45,0 and then
play it back when I boot from the old drive, it still has the same
double audio problem that plays similar to you. My play/pause
button has no effect and the audio just keeps going. If I do pause
the audio and wait for my audio to finish and then hit play again,
my scrubber bar moves but nothing plays until it gets to the end
and starts over. I was also getting double audio at times as well.
Could this be the new player??? Have you figured anything out since
you posted last? I'm using XP, flash 8, Firefox 2.0.0.4.

  • Audio corrupt in Captivate

I'm using audio for the first time in Captivate 2 and am
    having a few problems.
The mp3 (bit rate 64) plays okay as an mp3, when i import the
mp3 into Captivate 2 it plays fine, i drag it onto the frame and
again if i right click the audio file it'll play okay
However when i run the file or preview on a single frame the
audio doesnt play and instead sounds corrupt, it sounds like a
    tiger roaring !
    Any ideas ?

Thanks so much for your reply. Here's the problem and I can't
seem to figure this out either (my Nerves). I have inserted my
Captivate swf file into a Breeze Presenter PowerPoint and it starts
prematurely, thereby overlapping the recording on the slide before
it. I've tried all kinds of timing but it seems to have a mind of
    it's own. Can you help?

  • Workaround for some W510 Audio Problems. Lenovo, please take a look at this!

    Hi all
I believe most or all of the people are affected with poor sound quality of W510. I do believe there are some people who bring their laptops along and not convenient to get a external sound card and external speakers on the road. I am not too sure, but what I think that causes audio problem in W510, T410 or T510 is due to the implementations of Combo Audio/Mic Jack. So far, I have not heard any audio problems from X201 or W701/W701ds with a separate mic and audio jack (1 green and red, instead of 1 combo) Listed machines are using Conexant 20585 SmartAudio HD Sound Card.
The workaround is to force install Conexant 20561 SmartAudio HD Driver through Device Manager
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-73721
    Problem Partially Resolved
    1. Using Audio Director - Classic mode enables you to use both internal speakers and external speakers/headphone simultaneously. (By right, this should be in Multi-Stream mode, due to this driver not programmed for W510). However, the volume of the internal speaker will be reduced by half if an external speakers/headphone is plugged.
    2. The sound quality is improved (tested with internal speakers).
    3. Solved Irregular Volume Problems.
    Drawback of using this driver
    1. Using Multi-Stream mode in this case would not enables you to use both internal speakers and external speakers/headphone simultaneously. However it would just make your internal speaker to be louder. External speaker/headphone would not work if Multi-Stream mode is selected.
    2. Custom EQ is not usable, if used, only the right channel of internal speaker, external speaker/headphone would work, and the sound quality will be like a spoilt radio.
    3. Only Voice (VoIP) EQ is optimized for external speaker/headphone. Using Off, Jazz, Dance or Concert EQ would make you feel that the vocal (singer's voice) is diffused, blurred like excessive 3D effects.
    4. Even if any preloaded EQ is selected, after system has been restarted, the selected EQ would still be saved, but the band (31Hz - 16KHz would be changed back to Off EQ) It is ok as it just affects the graphics, not the sound.
I know that Forum Administrators, Lenovo Staff, Community Moderators, Gurus and Volunteered Moderators/Users would be surfing around and looking for new post. Please take a look and leave a post or PM to me, thank you very much.
It is alright if Lenovo don't think that there is any problems regarding the sound in W510. However, I do believe most users/owners of W510 would appreciate if the sound system could be further improved through a better driver or new revision of hardware to something like a T400 standards or something. Some users would spent so much $ just to get all-in-a-box solution and would not want to invest further just for a external card to sacrifice portability and use more $. Finally, I still do believe that W510 audio problems can be resolved.
    Best Regards
