Audio Problems - running Windows XP under partition - MacBook4,1

I have a MacBook, model number above. It was properly partitioned and the sound worked fine in Windows until yesterday. Now, no sound device of ANY sort is being recognized. It's almost like Windows XP doesn't realize there is a driver in place. How do I resolve this? Do I have to reinstall XP? I'm not a techie - how do I even do that??? Thanks for your patient advice.

  • MacMini running Windows 7 under boot Camp

I have a MacMini running MacOS X 10.6.6 and bootcamp 3.2. I use this machine specifically to run my windows applications. The mac is running Windows 7 Professional. Its on a network with 2 iMac. Both iMac can connect to the MacMini without difficulty, and look at the files on the machine. Windows 7 is configured for Remote Desktop Access. Both of the iMacs are configured with Remote Desktop Connection 2.1 from Microsoft and according the Microsoft's website I should be able to access a Windows 7 machine. Of course they are not specific about the platform they Windows 7 is running on.
Is anyone out there connecting to a MacMini running Windows 7 (BootCamp) with a RDC client and access the applications on the Windows 7 machine? This use to work with Parallels 6 but I had problems with the machine freezing and reconfigured to run under BootCamp.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Just an idea for you. There is an entire Apple Discussion forum dedicated to Boot Camp and Windows.
Whereas, not everyone here with an Mac mini has installed, tried to install or has experience with BC & Windows, everyone there has or at least has an interest. You may attract help more quickly there.

Are you using latest version of RDP version?
Did you check whether the required option is selected for audio redirection?
Please see whether you have selected below options correctly.
Also try to enable policy setting and check,

  • Problems running Photoshop CS6 under OS 10.8 Mountain Lion

Since updating the OS from 10.6.7 to OS 10.8 on iMacs (21" and 24" Intel 2.4GHz) I have experienced problems running Photoshop. The app boots up fine and I can start a project as normal, but when I click on a tool to change it's usage I get the spinning beach ball, this lasts about 5 - 10 seconds and then the tool drop down menu appears. After this, I get the beach ball appearing every few minutes  as I try to work, and the only way to get Photoshop running efficiently is to close it down  and then restart.
Any ideas as to the cause? I've read on forums from both Adobe and Apple that apparently there are no compatibility issues between Mountain Lion and CS6 but I never had this problem previously under Snow Leopard.

The next two remedial steps would be to reset all tools by right-clicking here:
    and if that does not resolve the problem, reset Preferences;
    To reset Preferences:
If Photoshop is already open on your screen, close it (Quit). Then hold down Shift+Ctrl+Alt (Win) / Shift+Command+Option (Mac) on your keyboard and start Photoshop.
A dialog box will pop up asking if you want to delete the existing Preferences file (the "Settings"). Click Yes in the dialog box. The existing Preferences file will be scrapped and a new one will be created.

  • ITunes opens but without any text showing.  Drop down menus have text but not the app itself. I have a Mac Powerbook Pro running Windows XP under Boot Camp.

Running under Windows XP,  a few upgrades ago iTunes started opening without any text showing in the application.  Clicking on PLAY will play music but no text shows to indicate what's playing and no text to show music library. Drop down windows show text but not the app itself.
Subsequent upgrades and reinstalls have not corrected the problem, When I run under iOS (Snow Leopard), iTunes opens with text and runs correctly.
    Help!

Because I created FAT32 partition using Boot Camp tool few days ago I installed my custom copy of Windows XP with SP3, IE7 and WMP10 integrated using nLite (for WMP10 integration use RVM Integrator). I did not use Boot Camp tool this time - I just booted CD using Option key. Then I installed Boot Camp 2.0 drivers you can find on Mac Disk 1. After this I installed Boot Camp drivers 2.1 update. In Add or remove Programs I checked drivers - I uninstalled old drivers which call identical, but you can skip this. Everything works fine BTW it is better to format your partition to NTFS - you have much less disk errors, you do not waste time for disk errors scans during Windows startup, your data are much more safe. If you need NTFS write permissions use great tool Paragon NTFS for Mac OSX or open source NTFS driver.

  • Mac OS X crashes on restart after running Windows 7 under bootcamp

    Hi,
Have a strange problem that has only just cropped up recently.
I upgraded to Lion on the day it came out and have booted into my bootcamp partition several times since then however, the other day i booted into Windows 7 and after restarting to go back into Mac OS X, it booted to the desktop, i saw the FInder load and then it just restarts. It then boots into Windows again (next available boot drive i suppose). I then restart into Mac OS X, picking it from the Bootcamp menu in the Windows 7 system tray but it then does the exact same thing - boots into Mac OS X, loads the finder and then restarts into Windows again.
The only way i have been able to boot into Mac OS X is to hold shift at start-up when the Mac drive is selected to boot into, in order to boot it into safe mode and then run Onyx to do a few maintenance tasks. After a restart, Mac OS X boots perfectly again.
I have seen countless posts about Lion not allowing Windows 7 to boot but not the other way around as in my situation.
I have installed Bootcamp 3.3 on Windows 7 and have a completely up-to-date version of Windows 7 and Mac OS X but this still doesn't fix the problem.
Can anyone suggest why this might be happening or what i can do to fix it? I'd like to fix this if possible as i can't go through the rigmoral or having to boot into safe mode and then use Onyx everytime i use Windows. I only use Windows for gaming though so it isn't critical but still a pain.
Many thanks in advance for any help or advice!

    Hi probe_driod.
Thanks for your help. I ran software update this morning and the only thing that appeared was an updated version of iTunes. I manually downloaded the Graphics Firmware update but it said it did not apply to my system.
It is to my understanding that i cannot install Bootcamp 4 over the top of my Bootcamp 3.3 installation without first removing my bootcamp partition (therefore destroying all of my data) and then installing bootcamp again from scratch. Is this correct?

  • How can I run Windows XP under 10.10.2?

While I seldom use XP, there are times I need a Windows OS.  I run OX 10.10.2 on my late 2012 iMac, and until I updated to Yosemite, I was running under Parallels.  I deleted Parallels as I wished to upgrade it, and have lost my Windows OS ability.  Any help out there?

When you deleted Parallels, did you also delete the XP virtual machine you'd run using Parallels? If not, Kurt Lang's advice to reinstall Parallels will solve your problem. Or, you can install VMware Fusion, which can also use your VM.

  • Problems Installing Windows XP as Partitioned OS

    Hi,
I've been attempting to install Windows XP on my MacBook Pro (Mac OS X 10.6.8) using BootCamp, but I've been running into the same problem over and over again.
    Here's what I did:
I downloaded the Windows support files onto a DVD
I partitioned my hard drive, creating a 50 GB partition for Windows
I insterted the Windows XP SP2 disc, then began installation using BootCamp
The files appeared to download correctly, then I selected the BootCamp partition and chose the NTFS format
After some more files were downloaded or copied, etc, a message appeared saying that Windows setup would continue after the computer restarted
    Here's the problem:
The computer restarted, but instead of the setup continuing, it asked if I would like to boot from a CD
If I confirmed, the computer would start the installation process all over again
If I did not confirm, it said "Disc Failed" or something like that, and said "Press Any Key to Restart."
I've tried booting in Mac OS X again, deleting the Windows partition, and starting over with different options like:
    FAT format instead of NTFS
    Larger/smaller partition sizes
Nothing seems to work.  Does anyone know how I can get Windows XP to install properly?  I also ran a software update, so I know that's not the problem. Please help.
    Thanks!

You should read and follow the Snow Leopard Boot Camp Installation Guide. http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/Boot_Camp_Install-Setup_10.6.pdf
For starters, you don't download the support software/drivers. They are on your OSx installation disk.
You also do not provide any information about your computer, especially the year. The newer computers do not support XP. There are no XP drivers for the newer computer hardware.

  • AWARE 5.2/ Audio problem running on some local computers

    Hi everyone,
I received emails from clients saying that when they run the
    packaged pieces
from the CD, it works great. When they copy the whole CD
    contents into some
of their local machines, some audios are not playing. This
    occurs on
lessons loaded on the hard drives of certain computers. It
    doesn't happen
when the lessons are run from a CD.
The error message they receive is: A problem was encountered
    while trying
to play the sound in icon "1-010a.wav". The internal sound
    driver reports
the following error: "The filename format is incorrect,
    possibly because
long filenames are not supported on this volume".
But 1-010a.wav is only 6 characters long, so I'm not sure
    what the problem
is. Has anyone has had this problem before? any solution to
    this?
    Thanks in advanced,
    Omar

    > Does it matter what Operating System they're using? I
    believe they use

    workstations. Also, I'm
    > not sure yet but i am guessing they might be pulling the
    lessons from a
    > network drive (server). Could that also cause a problem
    with audio
    > pathnames?
The length of the path to My Documents or Desktop varies
    between different
versions of Windows, so you could, for instance, experience
    the error on
Windows 2000, but not on Win 98.
Simply pulling from the server wouldn't necessarily cause the
    problem, but
if the files are buried deep on the server then path length
    could still be
    your problem.
However - what are the filenames for the files that fail? And
    what about
files that play OK? Do they all have the same filename length
    or are they
    different?
