Audio Property Keyframes

Since I have major hearing issues, my son edits my Premiere timelines and he's running into a Creative Cloud 2014 standard I guess he didn't see in previous versions
When he adds an EQ effect to an audio clip, he hits the loop play, goes to effect controls, clicks on the edit button and adjusts a control as the clip is playing.  I think he's expecting the property in question to to be set at that level for the entire clip and not inserted as a keyframe at that point.   Is there a way to listen to a cilp as it plays, set a level and have the chosen level apply across the clip?

Set FX in the Mixer and it will maintain for the Track.
Same cant be done in the Clip Mixer though.
The Effect should not be adding Keyframes if applied directly to a clip and the stopwatch is not clicked..
It will do so if the stop watch is clicked and it will then  record subsequent adjustments of the effect parameters.
He needs to set a level he is happy with and then click the stopwatch.  Dragging the KF  back to the start if necessary

    If you're thinking of something built-in to FCP (that is accessible via a contextual menu), then, no, I'm afraid there's nothing.
    I would guess the most common workaround is just to add more keyframes and create your own taper, so to speak. But I think you knew that already.

  • Expression needed!! Any help appreciated. Using audio converted keyframes

    Hi all,
    I'm hoping this isn't to much of a complicated issue. I use after effects regularly but the expression stuff does have me baffled. I can convert the audio to keyframes with out an issue. What I'm trying to achieve is this - I have a talking head with the bottom mouth part cut on a sperate layer. i'd like the mouth layer to move up and down being driven by the audio. I can pick whip to the audio no problem but then I need to ensure it only effects one of the position values and also 'fine tune' how the audio effects that value.
    Please help!!
    Thanks!!

    OK, I have managed to get it to do pretty much what I need to do. the only problem i have now is changing the value representation on the slider. i know you can right click the slider to change the value but when i link with the expression, the slider value changes back to 0-100. I can get around the problem by changing the anchor point but surely there must be away to 'control' the value representation in the slider??

  • Audio pitch keyframe issue

    Hello all!
    I have an audio clip and I have applied the AUPitch audio effect to it and key framed it with two keyframes, one at normal then one about two seconds later at reduced pitch. When I do a  playback when it reaches the keyframes there is no change in the pitch. The only way I can get the effect to playback correctly is to start the playback within the two keyframes and even then it sometimes gets hung up at an intermediate pitch value during the playback. To me it seems like a bug, what is going on here?
    Thanks!
    Charles

    I am getting the same issue with any audio I import to a project. Did you find a fix? If not, if someone could help us out that would be great.

  • Move motion tween and custom ease property keyframe at the same time???

    Hello,
    I'm making adjusments to my animation, by "ctl" clicking the motion tween diamond keyframe in the timeline, and moving it.  It works great, except I have a custom ease property set up that has keyframes that correspond to the animation.  When I move a keyframe, they all update and move except for the custom ease keyframes in the motion editor.  Is there a way to do this??  Set it up so that the custom ease keyframes are locked with the other keyframes??
    Any help would be greatly appreciated..
    Thanks,

    Hello,
    Thank you for contacting National Instruments.
    You should be able to control your RS-232 port and DAQ card independently. If you are doing a continuous buffered analog acquisition, then your board should be acquiring analog data continuously regardless of what commands are being sent out on the RS-232 port.
    I imagine that this is a software timing issue. I would recommend that in your code that you configure and start your analog acquisition before you even start the stage's movement. After you have determined that you are acquiring data, you should send commands to stage to begin its movement. After all of the stages movements are complete, you will want to stop and clear your analog input measurement. This will ensure that you will acquire all
    of the data for all of the movements of the stage.

  • Master audio volume keyframes ignored in export - why?

    I had the audio set to fade-in at the start and fade-out at the end via key-frames. During the preview works perfectly. Export to QT (H.264) and the audio fades are ignored... So, then I go back to the individual audio file and adds the fade keyframes to it. Erase the keyframe changes on the master audio track. Playback is good in both the preview and exported movie.
    Why is Motion (2) ignoring the keyframe edits on the master audio?

    You must set ducking clip by clip.
    Also, the ducking seems to be set as a percentage of the volume of your main audio track. If your main audio track has some loud noises, the ducking will be a percentage of that, and your music may still overwhelm some of the softer sounds of the voice track.

  • How to disable the FULL SCREEN option in the 'Insert Video and Audio' option

    Hi,
    I've been inserting some MP3's and using an image for pupils to click on to play the sound, the images are 100 pixels by 100 pixels.
    The only issue is that I have the grey rectangle 'Full Screen' box over the picture. This is ideal when I put videos on but not necessary when you have just an MP3. Also I've noticed that the 'Styles' option is greyed out and due to that I can't change the
    colour of the play button.
    I've been inserting MP3's direct from my PC hard drive to the webpage.
    Any help'd be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
    Per my understanding, you might want to disable the “Full Screen” button and make other customization when there is an audio file in the page.
    By default, when we insert an audio/video file into page via “Insert Video and Audio” button in the ribbon, an OOTB Media Web Part will be added into the page contains
    the file you added, the “Full Screen” button is a part of this Media Web Part.
    In consideration of you might have other requirements on designing the style, I would suggest you create a custom Media Web Part instead which will enable you customize
    the style as you want.
    About creating a custom Media Web Part, you can use the <audio> tag:

    Right click on the FX icon and check if the Volume/Level is selected.

  • FCP 6 - Exporting Quicktime MOV distorts audio (clipping), plays fine in FC

    I've just finished a project and have exported my finished video to a Quicktime file, using the same settings as my original capture (HDV 1080i50). However, when I do so, the audio in the exported file is clipped quite horribly, and makes it hard to make sense of what is going on because of it.
    I have several sound files that have been amplified +9dB in the project, and was originally worried about clipping, but they play back absolutely fine in Final Cut, with no distortion at all.
    Any ideas on how to remove this clipping on export? If I have to reduce the sound level on my clips, is there a way to do it via batch? I've got heaps of keyframes controlling volume, it would be an absolute pain to do manually.

    Keep your audio peaks between -12 and -6 inside FCP. Never, ever clip the audio. Use of some compression and/or limiting - if done correctly - will help you control your levels: Putting a lid on loud stuff and bringing up the level of low stuff. And does a better job of level control than manually riding-gain with a fader or inserting audio level keyframes.
    Compressors will help you.
    Search the web for tutorials on how to use 'em and you'll never look back.

  • Beatmapping Audio from a Video Source?

    I may be in the wrong forum for this question.
    I'm wanting to beatmap a video of a band playing in the studio as to detirmine the BPM and downbeat so that I can create a video remix with new audio incorporated into it.
    I have the option of manually splicing to make this work, yet I was wondering if there was another option for doing this type of sync work?
    In other words I want to remix this song which I would know how to do if it were just an audio source, yet it's video - so I'm not sure what to do. I want the final product to be a video.
    As of now I have iMovie, Logic, Garageband and Reason.
    I have no idea where to start and was hoping to get some direction here.
    Thanks

    Software like AE would let you turn the audio into keyframes, leading to a plethora of things you could do.
    But, with what you have, have you considered using a MIDI device? Get a small MIDI keyboard (or any simpler MIDI device) and beatmap using that as reference.

  • Urgent: Where are the keyframes in Premiere Pr CC?

    I have cs6 on my older computer. yesterday we bought a new computer and downloaded all our programs from adobe.
    This morning I go to the older computer and edit a movie and send it to render and then move to the new computer to start work on a new project...except that its this new CC thing and I have no clue! yeah Im gonna have to read the manual and thats fine and good...but at the moment i need to send a project out and i need help finding out how to use keyframes!
    In the old system on the left hand side there was the keyframe button which would allow me to fade a movie in or out, and in regards to the sound would allow me to drop the sound at the end of a clip or increase it at the start....I cant find these key frames now. where are they, how can I get them, and if they are no longer there how can i do what I was doing before?
    I know I can fade out to black using an effect, but how do I do that with the sound?
    Please help.

    Expand the tracks vertically by scrolling your mouse over the track header.
    If no keyframes click on the wrench left top corner of the timeline; Show audio/video keyframes.
    Click on the little fx in the clip to select the propertie you want to keyframe.
    Default is Opacity and Volume Level.

  • Selecting multiple keyframes in edit window

    i am trying to figure out how select multiple keyframes at once in the edit window, to drag either to start or end of a clip instead of doing it one by one, i have used premiere for a long time, and i am used to just dragging a marquee box over the desired keyframes and moving them, i just cant seem to find out out this simple process in fcp. thx

    You cannot grab a "selection" of keyframe's and move them within the clip, it is an all or nothing operation with FCP ... and its been yet another of the major failings of the app for a long time, the sort of thing that was forgivable for a fairly long while, but really by now it should have been addressed.
    PLEASE post your feelingson this to the FCP feedback page
    In the meantime, if you're happy to move all the keyframes of a specific clip rather than just a small selection, or if are happy to divide (blade tool) the clip into sections so as the keyframe slip only affects specific keyframe selections, then the operation is different depending on whether you want to slip audio of video keyframes ...
    Video keyframes can be slipped relatively simply audio keyframes are a bit trickier.
    *FOR VIDEO*
    Toggle open the keyframe overlay area on the timeline (option T)
    Right click in this area of the clip whose keyframes you want to adjust and choose those keyframe properties that you want to adjust from the drop down menu
    Then hovver your mouse over the keyframe line that appears for those properties (not on a keyframe itself but on the line that joins them) ... the cursor should change to a || shape, and if you click and drag the keyframe line whilst in this tool mode then the keyframes will move without moving the content.
    *FOR AUDIO*
    Lets assume that you have applied a series of audio level keyframes to a clip and now wish to slip them a little, heres how:
    Load the audio clip from the timeline into the viewer
    Select the Slip tool
    Then simply click and drag on any keyframe (or anywhere on the level line itself) within the waveform area of the viewer to slip the clip's keyframes (the cursor will change to the slip tool as you hover over the right area)
    ... release the mouse button and you'll see that the keyframes have indeed slipped appropriately, whereas the clip's in, out and placement, has remained unchanged.
    Unfortunately however, there's none of the feedback that we've come to expect from rest of the FCP interface during this process... no phantom marks showing where the keyframes are moving to, no counter to show how many frames left and right the keyframes are being moved.
    It seems to be one of those not-quite-finished undocumented features.
    Hope it helps
    Andy

  • Is it possible to trim a video layer according to sound levels found in its audio spectrum?

    Hi There,
    I'm interested to know if there is any way via a script or an existing plugin that would allow me to trim down a video layer based on the sound levels in it audio track?  For example, if I wanted to set the in point for a source footage element to where sound started.  Is that possible with scripting?  If not, is there a plugin that analyzes the audio spectrum so that a script could possibly determine that point?
    Thanks for your time and help!

    This example uses the "Convert Audio to Keyframes" menu command to find the first frame where the selected layer's audio level is above the value specified in variable "threshold" (0.1 in this example). It then sets the selected layer's in point to that frame.
        var threshold = .1;
        function main(){
            var myComp = app.project.activeItem;
            if (myComp == null || ! (myComp instanceof CompItem)){
                alert("No comp active.");
                return;
            if (myComp.selectedLayers.length == 0){
                alert("No layer selected.");
                return;
            if (myComp.selectedLayers.length > 1){
                alert("More that one layer selected.");
                return;
            var myLayer = myComp.selectedLayers[0];
            if (! myLayer.hasAudio){
                alert("Selected layer doesn't have audio.");
                return;
            app.executeCommand(app.findMenuCommandId("Convert Audio to Keyframes"));
            var myAudioLayer = myComp.layer(1);
            var myProp = myAudioLayer.effect("Both Channels")("Slider")
            audioFound = false;
            for (var i = 1; i <= myProp.numKeys; i++){
                if (myProp.keyValue(i) > threshold){
                    audioFound = true;
                    myLayer.inPoint = myProp.keyTime(i);
                    break;
            myAudioLayer.remove();
            if (! audioFound){
                alert("No audio above threshold found.");
                return;
        main();

  • Premiere Pro CC crashes when editing audio- any solutions?

    Adobe Premiere Pro CC crashes nearly every time I try to edit audio, keyframe it in certain spots, etc, etc, with the error message that there has been an "unexpected problem" and the program must "force quit." Sometimes my work is saved, sometimes it isn't. And then I have to re-name my saved file, so I often end up with upwards of 15 different project files because I cannot edit audio without this program crashing. I see I'm not the only one--what is Adobe doing to fix this bug-riddled program? It's impossible to get anything done!
    I'm using this program on a MAC, 6-Core Intel Xeon Processor. MAC OS X Lion 10.7.5.
    I'm ready to lose my mind.

    I am having a very similar experience.....I have been working in Adobe Premiere Pro for well over 8 years and have always had issues with crashes when working with audio files, keyframing, transition placement, trimming and so on. I have had nightmares with some projects that I am having crashes every change I do and it seems once you get an issue with a project it only gets worst. I have worked on a number of different systems in regards to hardware and get the same issues, OS has been Windows 7 64bit for number of years. I would have expected Adobe to have been able to smooth this out by now but it just keeps rearing its ugly head when I`m on a deadline crunch.
    I try to never work with Mp3s and always request wav but it doesn't seem to matter in the long run.
    Just wanted to let you know you are not the only one and I am having a serous issue with this problem once again!
    Please help Adobe....audio is an issue with Premiere Pro for a lot of us....thanks!

  • Flash CS5 crashes while inserting a keyframe in Motion Editor

    When I try to insert a keyframe in Motion Editor, Flash CS5 crashes.
    I tried to use two computers running the same Mac OS X 10.5.8 with the same specs and only one of the machines crashes.
    Any ideas?

    Is it any FLA on that machine?  As in, you can open a brand new FLA with nothing in it, draw a square, turn it into a tween, and inserting any keyframe in the motion editor crashes Flash?  That said, since you cannot reproduce on another system that's identical, it sounds like something went wrong in the install process.  I'm not sure what it might be, as we haven't encountered that kind of problem internally (or a crash on property keyframe insert).
