Audio Resetting

I have a MSI 990XFA-GD80v2 board and used the Realtek HD Audio Manager.
The audio manager keeps popping up every few minutes saying that a new device has been plugged-in ti the sub out.
So far I've checked the cables and everything is secure. I also have looked through the window and don't see any caps bulging or leaning.
Any other steps I should take? I want to avoid an rma. This is my second MSI board that has had issues with audio on.
Edit: The computer has been on for and hour and the resets have started happening every 30 seconds I'm going to RMA. Mods can delete thread.

Thank you for replying. I ran tests suggested by MSI support and found out the problem occurred only when using the sysfan3 header.
I just mailed off the board today.

Mac mini audio resets to 44.1khz after boot

Hi, I use my Mac mini with EyeTV sat and the best performance is reached by setting the audio out to 48khz. Now this is easy done with the midi program but I find it annoying that after a reboot the audio resets to 44.1khz. I searched for programs that might do this reset to 44.1khz but could not find one. Does anyone have an idea how to keep the audio out on 48khz?

I absolutely agree that there is no difference that I could hear but video or tv seems to come with 48khz audio. At least EyeTV for my satellite television needs much more processor power and starts to stutter when the audio is not 48khz. This is a known thing with EyeTV, I'm not sure if it not just bad syncing or bad programming but I have to accept it Anyhow perhaps it is an OSX question?

Will we ever get rid of Core Audio resets?

I am so tired of random core audio resets and reload of all sample plugins.
It gets very annoying with plugins like Abbey Road Drums or Scarbee Bass libraries.Although they load to their own server still reloads everything.
Waiting everything reload really kills it. And worst of all it happens randomly.

This is not only happening by Kontakt. My Play libraries reload as well.
The problem lies within Logic. Somehow Logic sends a reset to core audio so all samplebased libraries reload.
I also see on my maschine hardware the light goes of and on and all the synrosoft keys shows activity.
This is a huge problem by logic and somehow couldnt be solved since Logic8.
Even with just audio tracks if there are too many after I open the song core audio resets and make me wait before I play.
There is something wrong the way logic handles memory and undos.
It is not possible for me to open two songs without quiting Logic first because Logic does not release the memory of the closed song fully.
Likewise load omnispehere and start browsing patches and you will see that memory gets less and less eventhough you are just browsing.And finally when you select a patch there is the memory getting low error.

Audio resets and repeats

Why does my audio reset and start repeating midway through the video clip when I import a mp4 file and "start new sequence from clip"? Very irritating. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. I do the same method every time.

I have an audio room at our school with a single 1.6ghz PowerMac G5. It works great except for one problem: the audio input level always resets itself to 0 when the machine is restarted. I tried using Automator to create a routine that would reset the audio input back to 75%, but I couldn't figure out a way to make it work. For now I simply put Audio/MIDI Setup in the startup menu.
Does anyone know a way to have the audio level set itself when the G5 boots up? Is there an Apple Script I could write?

It's a really simple arrangement -- the analog out of a mixing board goes into the line input of the G5. The analog out of the G5 goes to a set of Boston Acoustic speakers. That's it. I know there was an issue with G5s sometimes resetting the Audio/MIDI Setup for odd frequencies and bitrates, but that's not happening here. Everything else in the Setup and in Audio Preference remains unchanged. But every time the computer is rebooted, the input level is re-set to zero.
I've tried it on some of the other identical G5s we have in our lab, computers that have no audio peripherals hooked up to them. And the same thing happens -- input goes to zero.

Remote Audio Reset Bug

Surely this is a bug, or at least poorly though out....
Tried playing a video using remote on the iPhone on 3.01 and up flashed the warning on TV about audio being low or reset with an OK to click, but you needed the white remote to do that!
Must check I have latest Remote update actually.
Anyone else seen this?

this is something that has already been discussed on here a few times (the warning message anyway).
the remote doesn't replicate everything the apple remote can do, so i'm not surprised that you would need the apple remote for some things.

Clicking on help menu causing audio engine to bug out

anyone having issues with logics audio engine bugging out after clicking on the top help menu while logic is playing? not sure how to explain what it sounds like when this happens but i have to reboot my audio engine for it to go away.... i primarily work at 96k and have tried all other sample rates and still get the same thing...

I started having this issue a while back (late December/early January) and have gone through several things but have yet to get a resolution. The latest was a technical support call with Apogee (I'm running a Symphony system). Their assessment was that the problem is not Apogee-related and lives within Logic.
The problem, on my system, can also be triggered by several other actions. For example, if I click the solo button on one track and then slide across the channel strip to solo a group of track I will get distorted audio. The workaround is to either restart Logic or go to preferences and make a change that forces a core audio reset. I have been able to work around the issue but it's still an issue and I'm hoping to find a solution that doesn't involve clean Logic re-install or even fresh OS install.
I looked all over trying to find other people having this issue. So far I've only managed to find a couple folks seeing this problem. Mostly, I just wanted to chime in and add to the list of users experiencing the issue and let you know that I'll gladly post any relevant information that I come across that will enable to us to solve the problem.

CC#1 resetting at the start of every loop - bug ???

Make a 1 bars bas pattern, (internal or external synth with mod-wheel/CC#1 assigned to filter cut off) and loop it. On another track, same midi channel, i record a mod-wheel movement (filter sweep) more than 1 bar, say 4 bars, starting from 0 and moving to max. This is now a filter sweep with a length of 4 bars. Everytime the bas pattern repeat it self, (every 1 bar - because of the loop)the mod-wheel/CC#1 jumps back to zero, until it recieves the next mod-wheel info from the 4 bars sweep.
I have to use "make loop into real copies or alias" to make it work.
Is this a bug ?

To prevent CC#1 resetting of internal instruments check the track parameter box 'No Reset'.
Also, make sure that in Preferences > Audio > Reset the CC#1 box is NOT checked.
For resetting external instruments see Preferences > MIDI > Reset Messages

Audio garbles after playing Video

I got a new 30G iPod and downloaded all my iTunes, Audible and mp3 files. I then purchased from iTunes a video. All the audio (mp3, itunes, audible) play fine until I play the video. After I play a few seconds of video and return to playing audible files they garble. It appears going back and playing mp3 or iTunes audio "resets" so I can then play audible files (until I play video).

This is a known defect of the 5th generation ipod. Hopefully they will fix it in a software update.

IMac starts with full sound despite changing it in properties

I've had this problem with my iMac every since 10.7.2 update. It doesn't matter how many times I change the volume in system properties or using the volume keys on the keyboard, or using Shift Option etc, when I next boot up, the audio is on full.
It's really annoying! Can anyone give me some way to change this - I'm assuming it's something in the startup that does this.

Thanks RRFS. The problem is with general sound NOT startup sound. That irritating BONG however, (essential though I know it is) is louder because the general audio resets itself to top volume each time the system is shutdown. On my MBP's it's very quiet because I rarely have the sound above 3 bricks.
Re leaving it up all the time? Not a great recommendation - all personal computers should be rebooted about once a week depending upon usage, it clears out cache's and refreshes the computer. Plus, I only use my iMac a few hours a week - 4-5 at most, so it saves the power bill.

Weird Kontakt problem

Hi all.
I recently upgraded to a new 15" Retina MacBook Pro (mid-2014, i7 2.8gHz, 16GB) and have set up a dedicated Mavericks partition just to run MainStage as my gig platform. I've never had any issues running MainStage on Mavericks and I figured if it ain't broke blah blah blah.
The problem is this: Kontakt 5 is actually running far worse than it did on my previous mid-2009 MacBook Pro 17" Core 2 Duo 3.06 gHZ 8GB machine despite both machines running MainStage 3.0.4 on Mavericks. I'm getting a huge number of audio resets and "fuzzing out" when playing "heavier" libraries but here's the thing: I'm using a WX5 wind controller and usually only playing monophonically i.e. no big chords. I never had any of these issues with my much-older, significantly less-powerful machine. Based on advice, I turned off multi-processor support in Kontakt and am not using the memory server.
Does anyone have any thoughts?

What security of the router have you enabled? WEP? WPA? Are you using a built-in wireless card? When you say "Once I enable wireless security I can only use my laptop in the same room as my router", does it mean when you get out of the room like near the door or go to another room, separated by walls or glass?

Moved QIP6416 and QIP7100

Originally I had the QIP6416 in my bedroom and the QIP7100 in the living room. I have now switched them. Once I connected the QIP7100 in the bedroom the sound that is coming from it is terribly low. In fact I have to raise the volume indicator to 30 before I can hear anything decently loud. I have set the audio to fixed on the QIP7100, so the TV handles the sound. The TV is a Vizio 22".
When the QIP7100 was in the living room its audio connection was optical to my AV receiver. Now in the bedroom the audio is coming over HDMI. Do I need to do some form of audio reset to get this back in sync?

This appears to be a known issue. This should be resolved in the newest firmware update that is currently being rolled out to customers over the next month or two.
The problem doesn't happen (or shouldn't have) over optical audio, but over HDMI audio the sound is low (-10dB) and as a temporary work around, customers were to use component with stereo audio or digital/optical audio out. the hdmi was definitively lower

Msi z87-g45 gaming, no display, no beep.

I am building a gaming computer. When i turn on my computer the cpu fan spins quickly then immediately slows down to a slow spinning state. My Boost audio light is on as well. But i get no display. I have tried the DVI HDMI and VGA outputs. I also accidentally pressed the cmos button while the compute was on. I also removed my mobo battery for 5 mins. Oh and on top of all that i dont have my standoffs. So maybe the board is short circuiting. But if that was the case my is my cpu fan remaining on as well as my boost audio light?
Here are my specs:
Ultra 550w ATX Power Supply
2 DDR3 in slots 2 and 4
Cpu with no bent pins (that i can tell)

Im having exactly the same problem did you manage to get it working in the end?
The board has been tested by aria computing and came back fine they have also replaced the RAM and CPU incase they were the problem. Il list all the things Iv tried so far. Thing that gets me is there is no beep when I turn it on so something is wrong and im banging my head against the wall not being able to figure it out.
Checked both power connections many many times
Check for shorts
Changed power supply
Changed RAM (and tested in all configerations)
Tested 3 monitors on all ports (onboard DVI, VGA and HDMI)
Put 3 GPU's in it as well and tested all ports on them
Tested on a low end CPU
Tried out of case with just power leads and a monitor connected (no HD,USB,frount audio)
Reset COSMOS and checked the battery

So you have business contacts that were lost... do you not have these on a Database in some shape or form? Sounds like you need to invest in a RAID1 backup setup for your computer so you dont have this issue in the future.
As for repairing your problem, sounds like you are going to need to start from scratch at this point or if the data is still on your phone look into a program that can take the information from the phone onto iTunes.

This fix will resolve audio issues of a software nature resulting in the KitKat update. If your issue persists after applying the specific update mentioned in this thread and have done a factory reset, the issue is likely hardware related and not the result of the KitKat update.
