Audio Settings Issues

Hey there,
Recently, I've updated my skype to latest version i.e. 6.21 and unfortunatley there are some audio problem. When I try to test my Speakers in "Audio Settings" by clicking play button, it take almost 10 seconds to play the sound. And the same issue is with Microphone, in audion settings, when I speak in mic, it take almost 7-10 seconds to respond. Also this version of skype is pretty slow as compared to older version. Here, I wanna mension that, there's no issue with my computer or the internet, both working just fine. Second thing I wanna ask, why there's no option to clear chat and call histroy.
Thanks

Please help, that audio issues are irritating me.

  • Help! Vista Audio Settings issue (I think)

Ok, I admit it.  I'm in way over my head.  Any advice is greatly appreciated!
Last Spring I bought a new Sony Vaio laptop (with bluray drive and HDMI out), Sony XBR LCD, and Yamaha receiver (1 HDMI out - 2 HDMI in) from a local Best Buy.  I brought everything home, hooked them up and things worked perfectly.  I had the laptop playing Bluray movies and MP3's through the HDMI cable to the receiver.  I migrated to the east coast for the summer and when I returned home, I can see my computer screen on the TV and watch movies...but there is no sound (no DVD sounds, no iTunes, no Vista bleeps and bloops) coming from the receiver (they do work correctly if I use the laptop speakers).
I have the laptop connected via HDMI to the "DVD" spot on the back.  I also have the satellite box connected (via HDMI) to the receiver in the "TV" spot.  When I select "TV" on the receiver I get audio and video from the satellite service.  When I swap the cables nothing changes.  I've tried hooking the laptop to the "TV" connection on the receiver but continue to have the same issue.
I suspect there is a setting wrong on the laptop (if the receiver is able to process the video from the laptop, wouldn't it process the audio from the same source?).  I'm a Vista novice and haven't been able to sort this out.
I have gone to the Control Panel -> Hardware & Sound -> Manage Audio Devices.  The "Digital Output Device (HDMI)" is set as the default and says "working properly".
Where else should I be looking when trying to figure out why I have video playing but not audio?  Again, many thanks for any help!

I'm not certain; when I search "Lenovo Settings", it comes up with Settings, which does have the grey gear icon. I would assume it's the same. Here's the options shown for me in this: http://puu.sh/jjMpz/cf1ea17be5.png

  • Audio Settings Issue [Y510p]

I don't know if Windows 10 is the issue, as I was having difficulties before upgrading, but I won't rule it out completely. The mic on my headset doesn't want to work properly unless I follow a specific set of directions. I have to open the Sound settings from Control Panel, and also the Realtek HD Audio Manager. From there, I go to the Device Advanced Settings in the microphone tab, and change the option to "Separate all input jacks as independent input devices", at which point it defaults to the internal mic in the laptop. Then I change it back to the original option of "Tie up same types of input jacks, i.e. line-in or microphone, as an input device", then save and close. It then works correctly, but only if I keep the Sound settings window open. If I close this, then it pretty much stops picking up my voice and I have to yell to be heard and start the process all over again. The levels are fine, microphone array is at 100 and it has +10 dB boost, as its always had. It picks up audio if I yell into it or tap the microphone, but not my normal speaking voice. All the settings seem to be the same between working and non-working mic, so I'm not sure what caused it. Prior to upgradinng to Windows 10, I would experience an issue with the mic not working at all late at night. Once it stopped working in the span of 2 minutes inbetween Skype calls, another time it was during a call. I don't exactly recall what I did to fix it, but I remember it involved the Sound settings and the Realtek HD Audio Manager, likely messing with the default mics and switching the input selections. I've opened up Device Manager and it says nothing needs to be updated at this time. Any assistance or suggestions would be appreciated!

  • Hi i upgrade from lion to mountain lion to day on my mini mac,Since the upgrade i am getting no sound through my HDMI cable which was working fine on lion Checked the midi audio settings and system preferences to out on HDMi nothing no sound whats so ever

Hi i upgraded from lion to mountain lion to day on my mini mac,Since the upgrade i am no longer getting sound through my HDMI cable which was working fine on lion Checked the midi audio settings and system preferences to out on HDMi nothing no sound whats so ever.Any one any ideas?
I use a samsung TV for my monitor via HDMI.Tried all the system Audi setting nothing .Head phone and internal speakers are fine.

Similar issue; Audio was working fine on Lion, now not on Mountain Lion. Have a Macbook Pro early 2011 with AMD Radeon HD 6750M, connected by thunderbolt through a Lacie LBD to a mini-displayport to HDMI adapter (n.b. same problem when not going through the LBD) to a Pioneer VSX 521 AV receiver. For me when I go into audio Midi settings all the volume sliders for the displayport device are greyed out and at zero. But when I click 'configure speakers', it's able to send out the test signals to each speaker. Part of the problem could be that I'm not getting the option to put out 6channel sound, only 2 or 8 channel. Since my system is Dolby 5.1, and I only have 6 speakers, I would have expected the 6ch option to be available. But I imagine there's more to it than that. Elsewhere someone has suggested playing with Remote Interactive over HD on an Onkyo device; I'll see if there's something similar on the Pioneer that can be changed. Any other suggestions welcome.

  • Audio playback issue

    hello all,
I'm fairly new to Premiere Pro, (20+ years in Avid & 10 in FCP)
and I'm having huge issues with audio suddenly missing from the timeline ie no level or waveform, but sometimes I can see the waveform but not hear anything.
I'm on a 2010 iMac, latest OS, latest CC version, 12 gigs RAM.
I've wasted more than 2 days, can't see any pattern, original is H264, I've tried everything from claening caches to recoding to various formats such as mpeg and Avid MXF, all have exactly the same issues.
I can reveal in finder and all plays well.
I feel I am chasing a major bug that according to forums seems to have been around for at least 1 year.
    thanks, any feedback greatly appreciated,
    Rob

AUDIO ISSUE RESOLVED !!!!!!!  (for my particular situation)
this will take a little to explain so here goes....
I've had enormous problems this past week.
    to recap,
I had audio simply not appearing in my timelines, randomly.
Because of my newness to Premiere I had to be sure it wasn't my error, I checked and triple checked before asking for help.
Over the past 5 days I've spent  a few hours on the phone with a very helpful Adobe operator,
With advice from Adobe I uninstalled, downloaded, installed, moved Quicktime components, etc including deleting Soundflower which we understood does not play nicely with Premiere.
The audio in my particular case was not so much as being completely missing, rather the audio was registering as 'nan' level.
For those of you with audio issues, this is what I was experiencing:
in the bin, hilight the source file and right click,  go audio gain, and "set gain to" defaulted to "nan" db
So I set it to 1db and the audio appears, however I could drop this into the timeline and sometime later it defaulted to "nan db"
So I was chasing my tail, looking for answers.
So after 6 sessions with Adobe, today I uninstalled 7.0.1, downloaded Premiere Pro CC (which is in fact 7.0) and did not let it do the update when prompted.
    And FINALLY IT WORKS
I'm back to where I was 7 days ago.
Huge lesson learnt, wait awhile before jumping in with the latest updates. (I learnt this with 16 years of Avid - although Avid were always a few months behind the Mac OS so this delay lag was often a positive)
Word of warning, in my case the audio settings seemed to be "remembered" with the project save, so I've gone back to saved projects pre the 7.0.1 update and have not had any problem.
    WHEW
I hope this makes sense and Adobe fast track this (dare I say) bug.
    thanks,
    Rob
This issue started the moment I updated to 7.0.1

  • 1020 ear piece 'Lisp' - audio settings update 2.1....

I have had several 1020's, 10 in fact that all suffered with the same issue.  When talking to someone, it sounded like they had a lisp.  this was only previlant when listening through the normal ear piece speaker.  It only did it when connected, ringing tone was fine.
Thought it must be the phone so sent it back, then again and again...
Tried hard re-set, soft re-set nokia recovery software, the lot.  All phones did it.  they were all yellow, sim free.  Now, I am currently on a Vodafone 4G contract.  Each phone has been sim free. Sim card has been changed more times than I have had hot dinners.
Strangely enough, I updated the audio settings to version 2.1.4.1 and it has got massively worse!!! so much so that it's almost un-useable.  And, users at the other end can also hear the lisp and it's terrible.  So much so that I am going to hard reset the phone again and not carry out the audio update.
I also noticed that although I had not changed my volume settings, the phone was definately quieter.  Shame, this is one update that's a complete screw up.  However, it would lead me to think the lisp issue is sofware related and not hardware.... perhaps....

Wow, I guess no-one else has had this issue.

  • No sound in skype call - audio settings fine

when I call someone, I hear the ringing notification, but once the call connects I can't hear them, and they can't hear me.
I've checked all the audio settings, and they're all set to the correct speakers/mic. My sound works fine on everything else, and works on skype until I try to call. I've reinstalled Skype numerous times and it hasn't fixed the problem. I've tried looking online for a solution, but I can't find one. I don't know how to fix this. Please help.

Hi HoneyJackdaw, Can you please reproduce the issue and provide logs as described in this link https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA12321/how-do-i-create-log-files under Skype for Windows Desktop and attach it to your post?
The log file will help us understand the root cause of the issue you are experiencing so we can fix it asap.

  • Audio Settings are ignored on export to SWF in Captivate 4. Advice?

Background: Project is a 1-hour, spoken-word PowerPoint slide presentation, about 60 slides, about 1 min each. Audio has been split into one CD-quality, mono .wav file for import to each slide. All clips are excerpts from the same, full-length .wav file. Nothing fancy, no captions, animations, etc. Just one dog and one pony in this show. Using fully updated version of Captivate 4.
Problem: Upon export to SWF, any changes I make to the audio quality settings do not take. That is, I still get a huge SWF file with full CD quality sound. SWF file size is ~47MB. Should be closer to ~25MB or even less at my target quality of 11kHz, 24kbps.
What I've tried: I have adjusted both the Audio Settings for the project, as well as the SWF Size and Quality settings (in the Preferences dialog box, Project category) by alternately selecting "Low" or unchecking the "Retain slide quality settings" box, then synchronizing the settings with the settings in the Audio Settings. I have also tried selecting and unselecting all SWF compression options.
I have tested this on two computers, one XP Pro, the other Vista Home Premium 64-bit. Both Captivate installations are fully updated. Same results on both.
Things that make me go "Hmm": I can create a Captivate project with one slide as a test and achieve full flexibility of audio kHz and kbps upon export to SWF; that is, it works just like I want. However, as soon as I add a second slide, my export quality reverts to full CD-quality. I've even tried this with an extremely simple project with no PowerPoint slide, no skin, just blank white slides. So, I do not think it is an issue connected to some other aspect of the project in question.
So... Is this a bug? The odd thing is that this process has worked in the past. It seems that it has suddenly become a problem. If it were on only one computer, I would reinstall, but given the same outcome on two very different computers, it seems very unlikely that the same quirk has materialized in both.
    Advice? Thanks. -Steve

    Hi Steve,
This is a long shot, but you could try copying and pasting all of your slides into a new instance of Captivate. If you have specified certain audio settings Captivate should pick these up when you export. If not then it is possible that your CP file has become corrupted.
If that doesn't work, please file a bug report using the web address I have included below.
Adobe Captivate Feature Request/Bug Report Form
It would be interesting to see if the CP team can shed any light on why this is happening.

  • Capturing off mini DV audio lag issue

So I am still transferring these PAL mini DV tapes into my computer through FCP's log and transfer.
The audio is like 10 seconds behind the video track, is there a settings issue here?
I am using a Sony HVR-HD 1000U camera as my "deck" and going mini dv (firewire) out of the camera into firewire into my mac.
I have a DV deck that will play PAL tapes, but I think the dv output is messed up since I get a really pixelated and bad quality coming out of it.
    Any suggestions would be helpful.

The setting of the camera is irrelevant.
Yes for the project running - BUT for new projects it will help.
Yes drop out's also can induce sync problems
Making a copy to a new miniDV tape that is pre-recorded with an intact timecode
most often helps - drop out's will not mend but be either black frames or audio drop outs - BUT still in sync.
alt. To use the analog out from Camera and an A/D-box as Canopus/Grass Valley ADVC-300
with timebase correction. Gives me an usable result and IN SYNC.

  • Audio Sync issues Premiere CC and AJA T-AP

I need to get the audio sync issues resolved in Premiere. Using CC with an AJA T-tap. I downloaded and installed latest firmware and drivers, and plug-ins. Audio is playing back through Mac Pro line output. When the T-tap is turned off the audio plays in sync with the video on the computer screen. When I turn on T-tap and give it a 200 ms offset, it plays back in sync with my external monitor, but the computer screen is out of sync. If I skip around in the sequence quickly and press the playback, sometimes the monitor is out of sync. I need my audio and video to be in sync on all screens all the time. How do I resolve this issue?
    Thanks, Scott

    Hi team!
    cc: petergaraway
Wondering if anyone has any updates on the Premiere CC v AJA T-Tap situation?
I just bought an AJA to go with our new trash can iMac, which has been beasted out so it shouldn't have any performance issues. I have two thunderbolt displays for the edit and a Samsung LED TV on the wall for client monitoring. There is a 10m HDMI cable running to get to the TV, through walls and ceiling, which I just replaced to a cable with a booster in the middle because I thought that distance might be the first cause of the lag.
I guesstimate we are anywhere between 6-12 frames out at times. Also, the vision seems to be buffering, and thus at times jolts on the screen as it tries to catch up (or back) to the audio.
Audio is coming out through the Headphones jack on the mac to a small Behringer mixer, where I have monitor speakers for the edit and then wall speakers for the client. So I have been keeping the Audio output to the Adobe Desktop Audio. If I select AJA T-Tap it sends the audio straight to the TV, even despite going back into the system settings.
In Preferences > Playback, the AJA settings are to Match Sequence and Minimum Buffer. Playing with the m/s frame offsets doesn't seem to make any progress on the issue. And infact if I push it to 500m/s it only worsens the buffering problem I described above.
I went into the AJA control panel and have made sure everything is set to 1080p25 as our timelines will invariably always be 25fps (Australia).
But right now I am pretty stuck, and think our slight sync issue was better before I introduced the AJA T-Tap to our system, when we ran the HDMI straight out of the back of the Mac. Only problem now is I put the HDMI back there and I don't get a signal to the tv!
Would love any other thoughts or suggestions here.
    Mike.

  • Audio recording issues

    Hi,
For language teaching purposes, we've developed a flash media
server based app which allows users to record audio. It works well,
but at times (actually often) there is a drop in the audio
recording which can last several seconds. We think it could be a
network issue, as it appears to be more salient in some areas or
campus than others, but we're still within the university network
itself so I'm thinking there might be a setting to change or
something we might not be doing well.
thanks in advance for any help!!
    Emmanuel

Sounds like you're listening to the same source (the X6) being played twice.
Could be you are hearing  MIDI thru playback as well as Logic's "Software Monitoring" you must also be enabling a MIDI track for recording. If you unhook the MIDI connection from the X6 does the hollow sound go away.
What Audio interface are you using? The other possibility is your Audio Interface has "Direct Monitoring" this allows you to monitor the audio inputs before it goes into the computer. Having Logic's Software Monitoring enable along with Direct Monitoring would also produce the hollow sound.
I suggest the thorough reading of the manual so you understand what all the preferences do. Most of the time it is better to read and understand/experiment on your own. It's one thing to be shown something another to figure it out for yourself.
Here's a Link to all of the Preferences/Audio settings.

  • IMovie 6 Audio Sync Issues

I have a Canon HV10 HDV camcorder and I am having issues with my video and audio being out of sync in iMovie. I have not attempted to move the movie to iDVD or QuickTime. My movie is a little over 28 minutes. I have the limit scene length setting set to 2 minutes. I am recording in 16 bit audio - not 12. I have made a few very small movies with this camera without issue. This is the longest movie I have imported so far. I have about 66G of hard drive space prior to import and about 48G after.

    Kurt,
I have been following this thread and although I have a Sony HC-3 I share your pain. I do not have audio sync problems after importing its only when I add transition between clips that I have sync problems.
The long and the short of it is that there seems to be an issue with any and all HD content with iMovie. From what I can find here and on other forums is that the audio sync issues comes in a couple flavors.
    1. Audio sync with 12 bit audio. iMove does not like 12 bit audio stream, find out what kind of audio stream your camera has, many have 12 bit audio to allow for stereo sound with minimal space on the take, 16 bit takes up more and usually is mono sound.
    2. Even 16bit Audio streams have issues with HD content. Not so much when you capture its when you perform any editing that involves the transition of audio where iMovie must manipulate the stream in some way.
Now with that out on the table, what is Apple's position on this?
Items they have had me try:
Clear the Cache's and settings, re-install the program (iMovie), and the last thing they told me was, "Well iMovie is not a professional product and it is not going to be perfect".
My opinion is that they have not or will not attempt to research this issue because they do not feel it is a wide spread issue OR they are working to develop the newer version and hope that resolves the problem.
Lastly I have Final Cut Express HD, and I am here to tell you it does not express the same issues as iMovie although it take a little more effort to produce the same results than it does with iMovie.
I am confident that there will eventually a solution for this an other issues, it just takes time and effort on others to resolve. I am grateful to others here in the forums and I know Apple support keeps their ears to the pavement when it comes to the forums, but lets face it unless many. many people contact the Support department with Apple nothing will get done. It's next to impossible for everyone here to experience the same issues you and I are having, so that is why these forums are so useful. People helping people, keep up the good work everyone and I know I am grateful to any and all help that is given here in the forums by others willing to take the time to share their knowledge and expertise.
    Thank you!

  • 'Ringing' Audio Settings keeps reverting

Apologies if this has been asked before.  I was unable to find an existing topic on this subject.
The issue is that even though I set the 'Ringing' setting under Audio Settings to "Speakers", it always reverts to "Use Selected Speaker" when Skype starts up (after logging in to Windows).  This results in Skype ringing into my headset, which means I never hear it ring.
Both the 'Microphone' and 'Speakers' settings are set to my Logitech headset, but I want Skype to ring on my Realtek HD Audio device, which is where my speakers are connected.
The only thing I can think is that Skype is somehow starting up before the Realtek device is ready so Skype doesn't even see it and then reverts to a default value of "Use Selected Speakers".
Anyone else experiencing this or have any solutions?

I am able to reliably reproduce this now.  It seems that I was on the right track.  It happens when I remote desktop into the machine that's running Skype.  When I'm remoted into the machine, only "Use selected speaker" and "Remote Audio" show up.  This is why it is reverting to "Use Selected Speaker" because the Realtek audio device is non-existent when I'm using RDP.
    Have at it, devs.
