Audio signal out of phase

When i connect itunes to my stereo via the airport express the left and right channels become out of phase and I loose anything panned down the centre. I know that it is not my stereo or connections that are causing the problem because when i plug my ipod in via the same wire and inputs it sounds fine.
Can anyone help please?
Thanks

Hmm... do you need to have both speakers in use at once?
Normally, there's a latency only while recording (you need to set this by your self or use a feature called Direct Monitoring) but, as it's just input you have there, I can't say if this is the reason for your issue w/o knowing X-Fi functionality (these on-board systems may function a bit different from std sound cards). On older CT cards there was a setting for "Record without monitoring" but as said...

  • USB audio out of phase

I'm having a strange problem with the USB audio output of my PowerBook. The left and right channels are out of phase, both on my USB speakers and my USB headset. The analog output from the headphone jack is fine.
The problem seems to have arisen some time around my 10.4.9 or 10.4.10 upgrade, although I can't be sure that it's related. It's still happening in 10.4.11. I suspected something strange when Skype stopped working with my headset, but it took me a lot of thinking and a tone generator to determine what the problem was. Now I'm just about positive that all USB audio output is phase reversed between left and right.
Has anyone heard of this? I couldn't find anything in the forums. Thanks for any help you can provide.

You may need to verify the Hd & Repair from another volume, HD, Mac, or Install CD/DVD if necessary.
Then Repair Permissions... trouble is if you don't do this step before & after every update, you can't be assured of every file in the update/upgrade being replaced/updated, it may require reapplying a big Combo update afterwards, or even an Archive & Install after everything is fixed otherwise, personally, I use Applejack...
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19596
After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, then when the prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 5 things it does are...
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.

  • Transfer audio signal to LINE-OUT connector

    Hi all,
Is there any way to transfer the audio signal which is generated by means of a Built-in speaker on the motherboard to the
    Line-Out connector?
Baiscally, i want to acquire the voltage signal and view it on the oscilloscope. But the problem is that
the signal is not on the " LINE-OUT Connector ", it is on the buit-in speaker on the motherboard.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hello,
Are you using LabVIEW or other National Instruments products to acquire or analyze this signal or are you simply wanting to pass the sounds generated from the on-board speaker to the line-out connector?
    Thank you,

  • Line-out audio signal of 6G (sixth generation) iPod Classic (120GB)

I suspect that the audio signal that comes out of the Dock Connector of the 6G (sixth generation) iPod Classic (120GB) is not a line-out. Because like the iPod Nano the 6G iPod Classic outputs a signal that can be made louder by turning up the volume from the click-wheel.
Is this true? Am I getting the same signal from the dock as what I have on the headphone port?
For music on the go this is not an issue but if the iPod is one of many sources going into your hi-fi amplifier the experience will be frustrating!
    Thanks,

I have an iPod Classic 120GB and have just connected it to the dock that came with my old iPod Photo (using a piece of cardboard as a dock adapter because, for some reason, the dock design must have changed and the dock adapter that came with the classic won't fit).
I can state that changing the volume level on the iPod has NO effect on the volume coming from the line out of the dock. The line out volume is also much louder than the loudest volume I can get from the earphone socket.

  • Major Bug in Digi Core Audio Driver? Audio Out of Phase in Logic!

    In Logic 8.02 did the following;
Using a positive only impulse (only up then decays) I did a loop back test with the both the ADAT port and the analog I/O and both are recorded out out of phase.
Did the same tests in Logic using another Audio device with it's core drivers and all wall well - no phase issues here.
    Anyone else find this?

This is TERRIBLE! I have spent so much time working on this project, and I really don't want to adjust the speed settings to the preset levels, BECAUSE I need to motion of the video to match certain musical points. I can't re-film my video, and I needed this project done TODAY. I made a music video with some kids at summer camp, and today is the last day- the day we were supposed to all watch it together, and now, I've got NOTHING!!!! (Because I can't export it without all those glitches!)
I am MAJORLY DISAPPOINTED on this one. I've made movies in windows movie maker before, and purposely used imovie, because you know, everything on macs is supposed to be better. Well, I guess I was wrong.

  • Creating three out of phase signals

Id like to create three to 4 out of phase signals.
This is in the range of 100Hz with 500-1000 samples per channel.
The signal can be digital or analog at 5V
What is the best way to do this.
    How about with a 6601?
    Anyone have any ideas

Normally the way this works is that you generate the waveforms algorithmically and then write them to some type of IO. What part of that are you having trouble with?

  • Signals getting out of phase

    Hello,
I have programmed a PCI-6030E to generate 2 analog outputs (square waves) and a counter output simultaneously. In the beginning they are running perfectly synchronized. After a while (several seconds) the signals are getting out of phase, it seems that the analog outputs are lagging behind more and more. I programmed the card using DAQmx and after sending the first waveforms I do not send anything anymore, so the card repeats the waveform by itself. Anyone knows what is the cause of this problem?\
    Cheers,
    Laurent

OK, I think I know where the problem lies.
When generating (analog output) one period of a 20Hz square wave using a sampling rate of 20000 Hz and generating a 20Hz pulse signal on the counter ouput everything goes fine. However, when I change now the frequency to 19Hz things are going wrong. I calculate the number of samples needed for the waveform by dividing the sampling rate by the square wave frequency. 20000/19 is not an integer value, but because the counterclock apparently samples at a much higher rate the accuracy is much higher.
So I thought change the sampling rate in such a way that sampling rate/frequency is an integer value, should solve the problem. However, the DAQ card is not able to sample at every sample rate, e.g. when I set sample rate to 19998 Hz, the actual sample rate will still be 20000 Hz. Is there a solution for this problem? Maybe couple the counter and analog output clocks?

  • No digital audio signal over SPDIF auido out (MacBook Pro, Snow Leopard)

There is no audio signal over optical cable.
I have a standard toslink cable with a toslink mini-plug adapter for my macbook pro 15 2009 unibody.
The interesting thing is when I boot in Windows side it works fine, I hear sound and I see Dolby Digital or LPCM logo on my receiver, but when I reboot to Mac side then is gone.
    Any ideas?

Have you opened up the MIDI audio setup program and checked the configuration there?

  • Out-of-phase recording

I am relatively new to sound recording and I want to know if Audition is capable of recording signals 180 degrees out-of phase.
What I need to do is to record an audio file normally as it originally is and place it in one track (or maybe in left channel of track 1) and then process such an audio file to get it 180 degrees out-of-phase and put it in another track (or maybe in right channel of track 1) so that they canceled each other.
    Is this possible?
If so, is it better to use 2 different tracks or 2 channels of one track?
Also, I kindly ask you to briefly describe how to achive this goal.
    Respectfully,
    Jorge Maldonado

Great, it works the way I expected. Anyway, there is a little issue when I save the inverted file. It seems that some kind of information is added because it is a very little bigger than the original file and, because of this, the cancellation is not done correctly. I am working in a project about subliminal messages as follows:
    1. There is an audio file that contains positive affirmations recorded normally.
    2. There is another audio file that is the result of inverting the one in step (1).
    3. There is an audio file with very soft background music that acts as a mask.
The audio files in steps (1) and (2) should cancel each other so the positive affirmations should not be listened. And it works if the procedure is as follows:
    1. I open the original positive affirmations file.
    2. I apply the Effects/Invert option in Audition and save it with a different name than the original.
    3. At this point I have the original file on disk, and the inverted file in memory and on disk too
    4. I change to multitrack view.
    5. I insert the original file from disk in track 1.
    6. I insert the inverted file from memory (not the saved on disk) in track 2.
    7. I insert the mask file in track 3.
This way it works perfectly, I can only hear the background music but not the positive affirmations at all.
My problem comes when, in step 6, I insert the inverted file from disk instead of that already in memory. If I check their sizes I can see that the inverted one is a litte bit bigger: the size of the original file is 15,041KB and the size of the inverted file is 15,043KB; and because of this peaks and lows (I wonder if these terms are correct) do not match.
I will very much appreciate any advice.
    With respect,
    Jorge Maldonado

  • Audio stereo signal split into 3 or 4 stereo audio signals (in one single clip)?

    Hi,
facing massice transcoding issues when exporting a project I had to analyse the involved video/audioclips...
and found out that for some of the video clips the audio signals have been split into even 3 or 4 complementary stereo channels.
Note: Each channel contains just a part of the original signal. This is obviously due to cutting action ...
What can I do? I have no clue!
    My question:
How to get one single stereo audio signal (2 channels) out of this mess?
    Thanx big time,
    Oliver

Assuming we're talking about shorter takes and not a longer, spanned clip, I don't think what you want can be done in PP.  Nesting will always bring the audio over as one track.
You may have to skim the clip sequence in the Program Monitor and copy/paste the portions you want to use into a second sequence for output.  This will preserve the audio.

  • Using video and audio signal from a camera connect...

Why is it not possible and is skype intending to implement the ability to use the video signal form a digital camcorder connected to a tv?
A lot of people these days have digital camcorders or digital cameras that produce video signal. Why can't those be supported as video input by skype?

    Hi,
The following ports are at the back of your computer:
    Figure 4: Back I/O panel
    1 - USB 2.0: 4
    2 - LAN
    3 - DVI-D
    4 - D-SUB port (VGA port)
    5 - Audio: Line in
    6 - Audio: Line out
    7 - Audio: Microphone
You already mentioned DVI-HDMI : it works but no sound. That's true because DVI does not carry audio signals. All you need is using RCA cable to connect port #6 to your TV.
    Regards.

  • Can you tell me how to measure audio signal frequency in measurement studio with visual basic 6.0?

I'd like to measure two differential input signal(I.e. A+ and A-),below is two test projects,
1.connect A+/A- to PCI 6052E card's ACH0/ACH8 ,and refer to GND for testing
    2.connect respectively A+/A- to PCI 6052E card's ACH0/ACH8 for testing
Could you tell me the details of the second project?and give me a illustration in measurement studio with visual basic 6. 0 about the second?
In addition,I would like to measure the audio signal frequency, could you give me a illustration in measurement studio with visual basic 6.0?
    Wait for your reply!

    Dear kelven,
Thank you for contacting National Instruments.
To address your question, there are Analog Input shipping examples that demonstrate how to measure an analog input differentially, as you specify in (2).
As for measuring the audio signal frequency, you may want to check out the following KnowledgeBase. The link is:

  • Powerbook audio in/out: advice needed

I don't understand my 15" aluminum powerbook's audio in/out. I know that the input jack requires a far higher power signal than my nylon string Gibson solid body Chet Atkins CE guitar is able to generate, so I have to run the signal from my guitar through a pre-amp, to boost the signal high enough to allow it to lay a decent audio track into my favorite Macintosh sound editing program (www.felttip.com's Sound Studio.)
It's also vital to be able to simultaneously hear what I'm playing, while I record it. It seemed logical to assume I would be able to plug my Bose stereo headset into the headphone jack of my Powerbook and listen to what I'm playing while I'm laying the track down in Sound Studio...but the headphone jack is totally dead while I'm recording. However, after the recording is done, I can play the .aif back with Sound Studio (or, for that matter, with iTunes) and the headphones work great.
It appears that the Mac audio system is only able to do one thing at a time...either take in sound via the Input Jack, or output sound via the headphone jack....but not both, simultaneously. And it seems to me that having anything plugged into the input jack, deactivates the headphone jack.
Is this true, or am I doing something wrong....?

Without doubt the problem rests within the particular software you are using as the PB is indeed capable of "duplex" operation - i.e. it can output sound at the same time as it is recording.
Go into the preferences section of Sound Studio (not a programme I'm familiar with I have to say) and look for an item named "Playthrough" (or similar). Check this box and all should be well.
If you want to confirm that your PB does do record/play at the same time try downloading another audio programme (such as Amadeus) - when you hit the record button in that programme you can easily set the system for playthrough from the Settings area of the pop-up box.
Hopefully you'll manage to get things sorted out.
