Audio Slow

Help!
I am using iMovie 06. I imported 20 mins sync video with audio. The weird thing is that the audio and video are slow (the effect being that the audio is slow (ie monster not chipmonk), but still in sync with video; but then just out of the blue, if I play with audio levels or then it comes back to normal, only to have the same problem after 5 minutes. FOR NO REASON.
Also when the audio is normal, and I try and edit a clip, the edit point is not right. ie it CUTS at the wrong point, even though I am careful with my edit point. I have heard of long sync clips can slowly go non-sync, but this is very new, and VERY annoying!
Help anyone?

Hi
And where from did the video and audio originate ?
miniDV tape ?
recorded in SP-mode and 16-bit audio ?
If not convert
• video to streamingDV
• audio to .aiff 16-bit 48kHz
else
*Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows.*
• Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
• Hard disk is untidy. Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)
• Garageband-fix. Start it, Play a note and Close it. Re-try (Corrects an audio problem that hinders iMovie)
• Delete iMovie pref file - or rather start a new user/account - log into this and re-try
iMovie pref file resides.
Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences and is named. com.apple.iMovie.plist
While iMovie is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
Now restart iMovie.
• Third party plug-ins that doesn't work OK (not relevant for iMovie’08 or 09)
iMovie updated ?
QuickTime updated ?
Mac OS version ?
• Program miss-match. iMovie 5.0.2, up to Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK
• Program miss-match. iMovie 6.0.3 or 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
• Program miss-match. iMovie’08 v. 7.0.1, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
• Screen must be set to Million-colors
From LKN 1935. (in this case = iMovie HD (5), I tried it all, but nothing worked.
Your answer (above) has been helpfull insofar as all the different trials led to the conclusion that
there was something wrong with my iMovie software. I therefore threw everything away and reinstalled
iMovie from the HD. After that the exportation of DV videos (there has not been any problem with HDV videos)
to my Sony camcorders worked properly as it did before.

I run "Cache Out X", clear out all caches and restarts the Mac

  • Import MP3 and AIF Audio Slowing Down

    Hello All,
I am trying to create a podCast of my Temple's weekly service. The sound system saves the audio to a Compact Flash as a MP3 file. I had wanted to use GB3 to add graphics and publish with iWeb but I am having a strange problem.
When I add the existing sound file to a new podCast template, the audio slows down about 5-10%. I've tried to add the file through iTunes/Media Browser and I have tried converting the file to an AIFF in QT7 then drop-and-drag to a new track. In both cases the slowing of the audio acquired.
I tried adding additional new audio via internal Mic and it plays normally. I have a iMac G5 with 1GB RAM...so I don't believe it's my compture.
    Help! Please!
Thanks in advance for suggestions and solutions...

  • Problems importing audio - slows down the speed???

    hey guys,
I am having trouble when i import my audio into premiere elements 11 it plays back slower than the original audio. i have tried changing the file format from mp3 to WAV 16-bit 48khz and i am still experiencing the same issue... can anyone please help me?
    Ryan

    Ryan,
For the record, what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 11 running on?
Is this audio linked to video when it is imported or is this a standalone audio file?
If the audio is linked to video, are you seeing any slow motion effects in the video?
Now let us get into the details of your project setup.
What are the properties of your source media, video as well s audio, and what are you or the project setting as the project preset to match the properties of the source media? I am looking for video and audio compression, frame size, frame rate, file extension, pixel aspect ratio, etc.
When your audio does not sound like the original during playback in the Premiere Elements Edit Mode monitor, are you listening to and watching the video/audio of the rendered or unrendered Timeline content?
When you import your audio (with or without linked video) do you see any conforming going on as evidenced by a conforming progress bar at the bottom of the interface?
Let us start here and then decide what next?
    Thanks.

  • Audio slowed down

Ok, my audio files WERE playing back at the right speed/pitch, but for some reason, in every project, they are now playing back slower and lower in pitch. I have checked edit > preferences > audio hardware. It doesn't matter what I use for my default device - it changes nothing. I have it on the AE WDM Sound. Changing the buffer settings does nothing. In project settings, my audio is set to 44.1 khz, just like my wav files, which are 16 bit 44.1 khz. Changing that also does nothing. I'm at a loss. Thanks for any help.

Since AE has no settings where you could misinterpretate audio footage, the only way I could reproduce this was with the RAM preview settings. So if your comp is 25 FPS and your RAM preview is set to 50 you would hear the audio twice as fast. Try the "," on the numpad and see if your audio still is slowed down.

  • Audio slow motion?

is there a way to slow down the audio in FCP 5? if so, could someone tell me a simple way to do it?
    Power Book G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

If you want to slow it down and keep the same pitch, you can't do it in FCP5. If you have Soundtrack Pro, you can do it there.
    1. After editing your clip into the timeline, select it. Choose File->Send to->Soundtrack Pro Audio File Project.
    2. In Soundtrack Pro, select the region of audio you want to change.
    3. Choose Process->Time Stretch...
    4. Select seconds from the popup menu and enter the new length in the box. Click OK. Soundtrack Pro will stretch (shorter or longer) the audio while keeping the pitch the same.
    5. Save the Soundtrack Pro project and quit Soundtrack Pro.
    6. Your audio clip will automatically be updated in Final Cut Pro 5.

  • Audio Slow/Off-Tempo during RAM Preview & Rendered Video

    Hi,
I am trying to do something very simple; cut a 5 second clip from a tv episode.
I opened After Effects, imported the episode, dragged that into the composition window to create a composition, clipped the beginning and ending points. Nothing fancy.
Whenever I do a RAM preview, the audio is super slow and way off. I can't even tell what they're saying.
I had read other places that if you ignored that and just rendered the video, it would turn out okay. That didn't happen. It's still messed up.
The episode video (avi) I started with has normal audio and I've double checked the frame rate options and audio options...
Can someone please help me with this, because I can't find an answer anywhere.
    Thanks,

Extract/ convert the audio externally. If it doesn't even render correctly, it means it is compressed and AE can't properly deal with it.

  • Audio slowing up

It seems that when logic gets to smaller segments of audio that I have cut the tempo slows down. Am I pushng it to hard?

Edgill, thanks for the breakfast suggestion. I liked the idea of cereal. My problem is the opposite, though, have milk, no cereal! Time to go shopping I guess...
Now, back to your problem... if you've been experiencing this over multiple songs, then there should be a common cause to be discovered. However, I'm at a loss as to what it might be. My only suggestion is to removing the plugs and seeing if that clears up the problem. Please post with your results.

  • Audio slowing

A audio wav file implemented within a flash file needed a
slight edit (in the middle) so I changed it in sound editing
software and updated the file in Flash - the file remained at 44kHz
Mono 16 Bit. When I update the file in Flash, it plays slower than
the original. I decided to switch it back to the original and the
old one plays at the same slower rate - even when I delete and
    re-import. Please help!

    CompuStep;
The only cause for sound playing slowly in flash that I've
    ever seen
mentioned or encountered is the sample rate not being 11, 22
    or 44k... If
your problem proves to be something else--please update this
    thread with
    your solution.

  • Audio slower than anim

I searched through the forums and found a couple topics on
this, but the solutions were to set audio to stream (which I have
already done). I am creating a cartoon and the animation plays
faster than the audio. It's starts out fine, but by the end, the
audio is way off sync. I have all the sounds set to stream. I have
individually optimized them (trying to stay at 32 kbps, sometimes
lower), the sounds are cut in to small peaces (voice audio cut in
to individual sentences), my frame rate is 24 fps, and I'm using a
dual 2.5 ghz Mac G-5. What is really weird is, I set up a scene
selection menu, and even when you skip to a further along scene,
the audio is still out of sync. If I render the scene individually,
the sounds sync up perfect. It happens when I render the entire
animation... which is on about 3 minutes. I was hoping someone
might have a solution to this problem. Thanks for any help.

I have to guess without seeing it. Is the animation ahead of
the sound or does the sound play before the animation? I suspect
the animation is going too slow and the sound is playing first.
With streaming this shouldn't happen so it is a bit puzzling. Try
to preload everything in the beginning and see if that fixes the
    issue.

  • Premiere CS6 Audio slow update Fixed

    I refer to this thread..
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4912885#4912885
After a recent meeting with filming collegues, I was asked if i knew a solution to this problem. Basically the user didnt have this problem in Premiere CS3 but does now have it in CS6 and coincidentally I have had this problem since installing CS6. I setup a plan for Adobe CC but as the problem was still prevalent in CS7 (CC) I cancelled my plan.
    Problem
Basically when you scale the timeline to zoom in and edit, it takes ages for the audio waveform to reappear/rebuild in the audio timeline window. I have to wait for sometime 10-15 secs every time i scale the timeline which is a preverbial pain in the A@@.
I read the forums and saw others having the same problem, adobe advice was get the latest drivers they didnt have the problem which was a bit dismisive. I got the latest video card drivers and no fix.
It dawned on me this evening that I have tailored by windows to suit my editing needs and my timeline window has an audio level window at the end of it. I decided to move the timeline to occupy the complete bottom of the screen, ergo no windows left and right and BINGO immediate (well nearly) audio waveform update quickly in the timeline window when I scale the timeline.
So it seems the problem lies with the coding of scaling windows NOT drivers hence a fix needed by adobe for CS6 and cs7/CC, but at least we have a workaround!.
    Hope this helps anyone 8)

  • Audio slows down cluster/Qmaster compression

I compress hours of DV25 in Compressor using the cluster method via Qmaster. When it works it is lightning fast for the video only. The audio segments cannot be broken up into pieces like video. This defeats the time savings of the faster video compression because I have to wait for the audio to be compressed at the same rate as the traditional method of sending it to the computer for processing.
Is there a work around to get the audio processed like the video in the cluster/qmaster senario?

That's the nature of some codecs. Some can be segmented, while others cannot.

  • When i import H264 .mov files the audio slows down. MAC

I have a mac, running Mavericks OSX and i'm using Premiere CC.
When I import a .mov file with h264 encoding the audio plays back very slowly.
I know that Premiere can't handle h264 in an avi wrapper or so it has been said in old forums, but these are .mov files.  How has this been an issue since CS 3 and it hasn't been fixed?
I would expect an import setting could be changed to fix this but i can't seem to find any import settings.
other than transcode everything again, is there an easy fix for this?
    Thank you for your help.

Are these files MPEG compressed files? iMovie can not deal with the multiplexed audio of those files. For suggestions on how to get them right start here...

And if your files are not MPEGs, some of the suggestions on that page may still do what you need done.

Please tell us more about your issue.
Are you talking about slow playback form a video that you're watching via streaming online?
Or, do you mean a video you've taken with the device itself and are playing it back?
Or, do you mean a video you've downloaded to the device?
