Audio /static in audio

Greetings;
I videoed a wedding using a wireless mic and during the wedding a popping noise was picked up during crucial times of the ceremony. I was able to drop a lot out it out whenever someone was not speaking with the audio controls in iMovie, but other times it is underneath important audio, so I cant simply turn down the audio.
Is there some way that I can export the audio out and edit in another program since iMovie doesnt really have the capabilities? If it is possible, is it going to be painstaking since I am not an audio technician?
I am not interested in going out and buying pro audio software here but wondered if some freeware or other opensource could accomodate me in anyway?
If anyone has suggestions, I would be elated as I do not want to have to turn into the newlyweds a snap crackly and pop ceremony!

audio processing is a very .. delicate issue...

you can import that into Garageband (or any other audio app)...
now, that "clicking"... often heard, when the spokesperson hold the mic in his/her hands... plus some jewelry.. clickydeeclack... , some people "wrestle" mics.. just being nervous...-
in an audio editor, you can do very short, "surgical" edits with a fraction of a millisecond.. you could give that a try to cut-out the noises... but for sure, the voice will be affected... no easy task to accomplish, not automatically workflow recommended....
and: these cuts affect the length of your audio! will be tricky to get that in sync with your movie...- try to edit/export just tiny parts of your movie...

Static/Cracking Audio When Using Chrome

Lately I've been having an audio problem with Chrome. I'm getting static/cracking audio whenever I watch any type of video with audio in Chrome. It seems that I only have this problem with Chrome and not any of my other browsers. Any idea on how to fix this?

Hauppauge PVR-150 Capture, Audio Static/Noise IVTV Composite input

This is my first post.
I have been migrating from Gentoo to Arch after 7-8 years using gentoo, I think Arch is great. even though precompiled packages have there downside. anyway.
I have problem with static/noise audio when capturing from Composite using IVTV, im running kernel 3.0.4 arch kernel.
I have 10 Hauppauge PVR-150 (+1 PVR-500) Cards running, the problem occurs in a random card after reboot.
Video is fine on all cards, but sometimes the audio on either one of the 11 cards get static/noise in the audio background.. sometimes allot, other times just a little bit noise/static.
I tried the wiki, and searched the forum, but can't find a solution, can anyone help me??
I can provide sample (cat /dev/videoX > sample.mpeg) if interested.

changing to constant bitrate seems to correct the problem,
v4l2-ctl -d /dev/videoX --set-ctrl=video-bitrate-mode=1
and then remember to not have the capture source audio volume to more than 75%.

Capture audio static with Leopard?

I just upgraded to Leopard and started capturing a new project with FCP. I now have static in the audio I didn't have before. Anyone else experiencing this. I've switch cables, drives, video playback decks and still get added static on all tapes. The audio on the tape when monitored with earphones is static free. Any ideas? Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. All cameras are set to 16 bit audio. Nothing has really changed except the Leopard OS upgrade. I am getting a warning box about the audio possibly not syncing, but there is no sync problem. I'm just curious if I'm the only one having this problem with audio static on capturing after the Leopard upgrade. Thanks for any help.

Getting static for audio in video recording on iphone 5

I've recorded videos with no problem until recently. Now every video I take has fuzzy/static-y audio. I've tried different positions, thinking my hand was covering the mic but it's not me. Anyone else having that problem?

Maybe the Skype people will consider the mirror suggestion (made in jest). But I suspect it will not meet Apple's strict rules for apps not overloading the iPhone.
The inability to run apps in the background is another iPhone limitation.
Having said this I am fast approaching the stage where I cannot live (ie do business) without my iPhone. It saved me taking a laptop on a recent vacation. For relaxation I was reading a 1950s Asimov novel that foresaw the iPhone (Caves of Steel)!

Why am I suddenly getting audio static with FaceTime connection?

I recently started getting audio statice when making a FaceTime connection. The other person can hear me, but I get only static. The image is clear. Is this a problem on their end or mine? Is it the iPad or a router issue? Regular connection to the net is fine and playing of music from I tunes is fine with no static.
I'm puzzled.

You could try to reinstall using the full three step way (otherwise strange things may linger):
Uninstall (ticking the box to delete the preferences), run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall.

Audio static during output

Hello everyone,
Having completed a first draft of a video project, I am trying to run a copy to my external DVD recorder for my client to review.
I've done this many times, most recently in mid February, but now I am befuddled!
Picture looks good with video playback setting set to Apple Firewire NTSC (720X480) but the audio is in full static with audio playback settings set to audio follows video.
I have opened another project to test with and I get the same thing. I've powered down the system and my deck with no results.
Could this be a symptom of a bad firewire cable even with a good picture image?

Pink/green breakup, audio static: but I'm on Mac

Hi all,
I've exported some Quicktime files from FCP. They play fine on the G5 Quad, but when played on another Mac or imported into Keynote, I get the pink/green blocky video breakup, and loud audio static, during playback.
I found a number of posts, with the solution of setting QT to Safe Mode -- but this only applies to Windows apparently. I have all the same problems, but on Mac.
Variables: have exported using Compressor, and directly from FCP. Created on G5 Quad 10.4 Tiger, trying to play on Intel Macs 10.5 (Macbook Pro, Macbook).
Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions?

You are sending them files with a CoDec that doesn't exist on PC. You need to read up on what Quicktime CoDecs actualyl are available on PC. Aside from that, it's rather pointless still. If those clients don't even know how to deal with this or cannot install additional software due to administrative restrictions, that won't do you any good and neither does their request for an "AVI" - AVIs are just as much containers as are MOV fiels and could still have an unsuitable CoDec inside. So the proiper thing to do is to send them native H.264 files exported from AE using Adobe's encoder or WMV files. For the latter you are going to need the Flip4Mac extension...

after that i open grageband and it sayes no adieo in and out are found
and i also loke in the grageband preference and i loke in Audio /MIDI
and audio output say no drive found and in is same thing
but on MIDI Status it sayes 1 midi input found

I just moved my itunes library from a win 7 computer to a win 8.1 computer. Getting an error message "iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio/Video playback may not operate properly. Can't play CDs or get audio file from web!

Help! I just moved my itunes library from a Win 7 computer to a new Win 8.1 computer following the instructions on the itunes website. Everything is good except I'm getting an error message on the Win 8 computer if I try to play a CD or get an audio file off of the internet. I get an error message that says "iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio/Video playback may not operate properly. I don't know where to look for or fix the audio configuration on the win 8 computer. As far as I can tell the iTunes configuration looks the same as on the other computers in the house. At this point I don't dare plug my ipod touch into the Win 8 computer for fear it will get messed up.

I have the same problem and I know that it is due to my PCI Audio driver not being compatible with WIndows 8.1.
iTunes isn't the only program that can't direct sound to the built-in speakers anymore. The obvious solution would be to update the drivers, but unfortunately Dell does not provide an updated driver for my model, so I am stuck with that.
However, saying that, only my laptop speakers are affected by this. I can use sound fine on applications where I can choose the output device and direct sound to the head phones, but for some reason iTunes does not let you choose the audio device manually.

I did that. I reinstalled iTunes 10.5. Everything seemed fine, but when I try to plug in and copy a CD to my iPhone 4S an error message reads roughly: 'iPhone 4S requires iTunes 10.5 or higher to work.'
What might be the problem with my audio configuration?
Why doesn't my iPhone 4S work with iTunes 10.5? It used to work with iTunes 10.5.

Connecting audio in to audio out

I have a G4 with audio input and audio output jacks. How do you get the input to link to the output so you can listen to your input source through your output speakers? I have tried CD SpinDoctor and it does a software link between input and output, so a vinyl record being played on the input is audible on the output, but without this software, there is no link. Is there a system link or setting that does this??

You will still need a software "link" to your system's output. I do not believe there is a direct connection between the two.

How to convert audio to 'uncompressed' audio

It is obvious from all the reports, that there is a problem with FCPX audio en 'Lion".
I have experienced this too. To avoid this I have been trying to convert the audio of my movies to aiff.
So far I didn't succeed. My camcorder (panasonic SD900) records to surround or stereo and uses compression,
I do not know what format. So how can I convertcompressed audio to 'uncompressed' audio?

You can do this using a free application called MPEG Streamclip. Open your file, and then "Export Audio..." from the File Menu. Choose AIFF, 48Khz, and stero. (if you want to retain surround, it can be done but will be much more complicated). This will create an .aif file that you can now import and use in place of the audio that is part of the clip. If you have quicktime pro, you could also create a new .mov file with the video from the original media and the audio from the .aif file...then you can import the new .mov file to FCPX.
