Audio stops after 2 seconds

Why does my background music stop playing after a couple of seconds? I just went to Mountain Lion (10.8.2) and iMovie 11.

Hi everyone,
I have been having the same issue even with the latest updates of Snow Leopard, and it continued after updating to Lion. Non of the latest OS X updates seem to address this issue so far, however, I found a work around using a free piece of software called Remux. It mainly re-codes the Audio format of the video file, allowing qt10 to read it propply.
The good thing about it, is that it does not take more than 2 minutes to re-code a 2 hour movie, unlike many other other converters that take longer time to convert the file.
Hope this helps.

  • Video audio stops after like 20/30 sec

    Hey,
I got videos on my ipod video 60 gb I'm sure they work fine because they worked fine when I just put them on.
But after a while when I installed the new software the audio stops after 20/30 sec. It likes freezes for half a second and the audio stops. When I forward the video or rewind the audio works again. Does anyone has the same problem? Or does anyone know how to fix this email me plz [email protected]

If you have the latest software installed (version 1.1), then you may find that rolling back to the previous version helps. There are hundreds of posts here on the forum like yours. Here's one for you to read.

  • Audio stops after playing video

...couldn't get an answer from earlier posts so here goes:
in iDVD 6.0.2 after burning & playing the video chapter part,
audio stops. it doesn't happens immediately but after 5-6 min. of playing.
i chcked for a missing audio codec of some kind:
the video chapter is AVI format, but the audio is not compressed. also the file plays normally in QT so
my only guess was a probably malfunctional during encoding\decoding audio in idvd itself...
does the solution for it depends on the proper audio
codecs idvd is using to convert my movie or is it something else i missed?

  • Audio stops after about 5 minutes

After rendering/encoding, the sound on my finished DVD stops after approximately 5 minutes. It is fine on iMovie, and also is there in iDVD when using preview.
In contrast to other posts in this forum, there are no slide shows on my DVD, and all sound comes from the camcorder together with the video.
I am using "Create Disc Image", and I have tried both playing back with DVD player from that very disc image, and actually burning it on a DVD and playing it back from there.
I have also thrown out the whole iDVD project and started from scratch by creating a new project from iMovie.
Since my DVD is just about 60 min, I have also tried both "quality" and "performance" encoding - same result.
The audio stops in the middle of a 4-min clip as defined in iMovie.
    I am using iDVD 5.0.1.
This process (importing from camcorder, editing in iMovie, building menus etc. in iDVD, creating disc image, burning) is something I have done for several DVDs previously without problems (but maybe with iDVD 5.0)

Thanks for your help! You helped solve the issue, albeit indirectly...
At this point, I want to share my experience, in the hope that it might be helpful to others:
After finding that chapter markers had nothing to do with the problem, I found that indeed my camcorder was set to the dreaded 12 bit. Oh dear! The original DV tape is long gone. (At first I did not expect this to be a problem, since I had made several DVDs successfully with the existing settings, but then there are all these horror stories in discussions about what 12 bit can do to you.)
So to rescue my movie, I found advice to "share" my iMovie back to a fresh DV tape, and then re-import it with the 16 bit setting.
This lead to the next issue: After a number of minutes of re-exporting to DV tape, the video received by the camcorder would freeze, while the audio continued. This happened at several different points in several differerent attempts.
So next I visited iMovie discussions, where I found advice to clean up my Mac. I used Mac Sweeper, and now indeed my Mac runs faster and smoother for many apps. I also downgraded my QuickTime version. But another attempt of exporting from iMovie to DV tape also failed, but now it failed at exactly the same point where the audio stopped in my DVD!!! (Even though on the export-to-DV-tape it was not the audio but the video that froze.)
Next I found that when playing that problematic scene in iMovie, the iMovie program would also freeze at that very point, making it necessary to "force quit" out.
In the end the solution was to chop out the problematic bit in that scene. Now everything works fine, including the iDVD step.

  • Audio stops after the first song, iTunes keeps playing but no sound

So if I play anything - the entire library - podcast - or playlist. A few songs (between 1 to 3 songs) will play, but as soon as the song is done and it goes to another song the audio stops. I have Airport express through the house and it stops as well - so it's not the speakers.
If i hit pause then play.. the audio is on again. I can get it to play by selecting a new song as well.
    It's pretty annoying.
If I let like 20 songs play all of a sudden on a random song that starts - the audio will come back for 1 song.
Anyone else have this type of issue?

    Bumping to top again.
This has really become a terminal problem. Can't play more than a song without having to touch the system to bump back to the beginning of the track, where it plays fine. This can't be limited to my system only--any ideas or thoughts guys?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Audio stops after several seconds of playing in CS6 on PC (R3D files)

    Hi,
I have recently come across a significant problem while editing R3D files in Premiere Pro CS6. When I play back my sequence the video will play fine but the audio will only play for a couple of seconds before cutting out. The audio meters continue to show that audio is coming through though no sound can be heard at all. When I stop and start the sequence again the audio begins to play again for a couple of seconds before cutting out. There is no problem with video whatsoever.
    - Has anyone else experienced similar problems or have any suggestions to what might be going on and a possible fix?
My system specs are below. System speed should not be an issue at all as the sequence plays fine on my much slower and older imac (albeit at a reduced resolution).
I am on an intel 3rd Generation i7 PC (quad core) running Windows 7 Home Premium (64bit)
    8GB of RAM
    2GB Nvidia 650M graphics card
256GB SSD drive for startup and applications.
Any help would be very much appreciated, unfortunately until this problem is solved editing on this system just wont be possible.
    Thanks,
    David

I seem to have it working properly now. My issue seems to be centered around USB3 connections only operating at USB2 speeds. When the USB3 connection is working correctly all audio works perfectly. The store where I purchased my laptop from did a bit of a lazy software and driver install when I purchased the system. They are fixing the issue today and should have the laptop back and fully functional by tomorrow. Will test it again then. From what I have seen though, system runs very well when USB3 connections function as should.
Strangely though, I now seem to be experiencing an identical issue with my iMac after updating to the latest version of CS6. It is even worse though, with no audio playing at all. From both these experiences, I'm guessing there still might be a few bugs in the software too.

  • Audio stops after a few seconds

I tried the Starter Patch (just a single EVP88 instrument) and every few seconds the audio just stops in the middle of notes, then after a slight delay new notes will play. This happens with my external audio interface as well as when using built-in audio, so I don't think it is a driver issue (also Logic 7 and 8 work just fine with my audio interface).
A few times I noticed the CPU meter built in to the app jumped up to 100% just before the dropout, but this happens too suddenly for Activity Monitor to notice the increased CPU usage. My machine is a Dual 2.3 G5, 1.5G of RAM, and should be able to handle this without any trouble.
Changing the I/O buffer size from 128 to 256 seems to help, but I still get occasional dropouts. A buffer size of 512 seems to work well. This surprises me since I normally work with a buffer size of 64 in Logic, and expected Main Stage to work similarly.
    Dave

I turned off "I/O Safety Buffer" and MainStage has been working a lot better. No dropouts with a buffer size of 128. I can also use a buffer size of 64 provided I don't pile on too many effects (Space Designer can use a lot of CPU).

  • Audio stopped after rendering

After I render my project when it went to play back the sound had gone, you can still see the audio levels and you can here the sound if you watch the clips in the import section but there is no sound on the actual project. I have checked that it is not muted. And it can't need rendering because I just did that. Any idea how to get the sound back?
    Please help!
    Thank you

    Hi Jessrosem123,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
If the audio is there in the project bin and not on the timeline.
Right click on the audio portion on the timeline and click on audio channels and
check if the left and right channels are configured properly. If this does not help right click on the
timeline and choose replace with clip from project bin/source monitor( Provided the duration of the
clip in the project bin and source monitor is the same).
    Thanks

  • Recording & audio stops after certain time...

    Greetings.
I've been plagued with a problem with GB2.0.2. This happens on both my 1.8 G5 4gb ram and my PB 1.67 with 1.5 gb ram. No other applications are running.
I have a Audio technica microphone plugged into a Grifith IMic, and that is plugged into USB port on either one or the other of the above computers.
I have a cheap pair of headphones that I plug into the IMic to monitor my recording and listen to play back.
I ussually create a tune by first importing a midi file from Band in a box, by drag and drop. I then quit BIAB. Works fine so far.
I then record my "real instrument" part and sometime between 30 seconds and three minutes, I hear a click, and then I hear nothing, but garage band keeps recording. This does not happen consistantly at the same spot. Sometimes I am withing a few bars of finishing a song, and then...nothing!!!
Very frustrating, since I never know when it is going to happen. Sometimes I can make it through an entire song with out this happening, but what a PITA.
I've read about something like this on these forums, and I know that if I am having this problem on two completely updated macs, that there must be others out there struggling with this issue as well.
Has anyone heard of a fix for this?
    Thanks for your help.
    Jonathan

  • HDMI Audio stops after TV turned off

    Hi all.
I have resently purchased a 2GB HD 6950 Twin Frozr III Power Edition/OC.
I am using this to connect my Windows 7 HTPC to my TV via a HDMI 1.4 cable.
I have set the ATI HDMI speakers as my Default Playback Device and also disabled all other audio devices.
I can watch any type of video and hear the audio fine, however when I switch off my TV the HDMI audio device disapears. When the TV is switched back on again there is no sound as the Playback Device isn't refreshed.
To get around this I have to open up the Playback Devices menu, give it a few seconds to see the ATI HDMI Speakers and it automatically selects them, click OK and I have audio again.
I would like to know if anyone else has this problem?
If I can get my system to automatically detect my TV being turned back on?
or if I can perminantly keep my ATI HDMI Speakers selected regardless of the state of my TV?
    Thanks for reading,
    Lee.

I found that switching to a VT then back to X again will restore audio as "plugged in" and it will work again. Is pulseaudio somehow not checking audio again when the AV/TV is turned back on or is this Xorg somehow not enabling it?
Also, if audio is being used (ie. playing a youtube video) when the Amp/TV is turned off, then when it is turned on again audio is still working fine. So it appears this "unplugged" bug will only happen if audio is not being used while the TV is off (which will be the case most of the time).

  • Video and audio STILL Stopping after 2 seconds

I am running Premiere Pro CS3 for Mac. For some reason, regardless of whether I capture direct fromDV cam or import a video or audio file. Occasionally (3 out of 5 times) the video and audio stops after 2 seconds. I hit space bar and it does it again. Ay ideas why?
I am running this on a brand new Mac Pro too.

  • Sound stops after a few seconds

I have a HP G61, Product Code VY441EA#ABU. OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Audio stops after a few seconds. This happens on TV i-players, BBC News website clips, football streaming sites, even the HP Support site's tutorials. I have done a System Restore to a point when I know this was not a problem.  I have downloaded the audio driver for my laptop from the HP site. I have tried the MS audio troubleshoot fix, which found no problems. I would sure be grateful for any other ideas to try!

    Hello GrahamBIOM,
I understand while viewing a video or listening to some different content, you lose audio, is that correct? I will do all I can to assist you with this issue.
Does the issue occur when you have headphones inserted? If you are not sure, if you have a set of headphones available could you test that please?
Please respond back at your earliest convenience with results.

  • Music Quiz Audio Stop

    Okie-doke, this is interesting.
I just bought my new iPod, and as I try to play the Music quiz, the audio stops after the first question. It's not on pause. It's not on mute. It just stops playing music.
I've tried updates, and I've tried resetting it, but it's still having the issue. Is there anything I can do?
I see that most people think the game is a waste of time, but I do have fun with it when I'm bored, or hanging around with friends. I hate the thought of sending it back, but I think I'm going to have to

    Thanks for the reply,
I go into the game Extras> Games> Music Quiz (or however the directory is) and it will play part of a song, give me choices, and slowly take them away--like it should.
After I pick my answer, it tells me if I'm right or wrong, and plays another song--but there is no audio, so I don't know what song is actually playing.
The green icon is the triangle (so its playing), and the headphones are still in. I can go out and play music from my playlists.. It just doesn't like music quiz, for some reason...

  • Audio stops midway through clip

    I have a Canon HF100 HD videocamera.
I use a cardreader to transfer footage from the camera to a folder on my computer.
I started a new project, used the AVCHD full HD setting, imported 9 files into the project.
On one of the clips that's 11 minutes long  the audio stops after 1 min 28 secs.
That same clip plays fine with Windows media player. The other 8 clips also play fine with Premiere from the project timeline, from the previewer  and with media player.
Any thoughts about what might be happening here would be appreciated.

    You are most welcome.
With muxed Audio & Video, I use Adobe Audition to rip the Audio, then do any editing required, and Save_As a PCM/WAV @ 48KHz 16-bit, for Import into my NLE (Non Linear Editor).
Especially with AC3 (a form of MPEG Audio), which has already been compressed once, I use PCM/WAV to keep from compressing again. That is also the best Audio file to Import into Premiere.
Note: the free audio-editor, Audacity, can usually rip the Audio Stream and Save_As WAV (Uncompressed), which is the same thing, just with a slightly different name. For anyone new to Audacity, our tireless MOD, Steve Grisetti, has written, or co-written, several good tutorials, which are available on Muvipix.com. I cannot remember if those are free tutorials, or if they are free only to Muvipix subscribers, but I recommend those highly.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • When recording a slideshow, why does audio stop recording after about 30 seconds even though slides and presentation continues?

I'm doing everything the same and have made many successful slideshow recordings using Keynote, but since updating the Yosemite and then updating Keynote the audio just stops recording after about 30 seconds.
The slides keep on changing and recording the video, but after 30 seconds the audio stops recording even though it seems to be registering the sound and the mic is not muted in Keynote.
Is there some change or new setting I am not aware of that needs to be altered?
Any advice would be helpful as I need to record a lot of presentations.
    OS X Yosemite version 10.10
    Keynote version 6.5
MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013)
    2.6 GHz Intel Core i7
    16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB

I can't imagine this will work as the the application is tied into a specific computer and user ID to prevent unauthorised use of single use applications. Copying over has not worked with previous versions of Keynote.
It worked for me. I guess it could be because we bought our Macs together and have home sharing or something. Either way, I'm running Yosemite but with Keynote 6.2.2. and not updating again until Apple do something about this bug.
