Audio stops at 39 minutes when playing a movie in I tunes

This just started to happen about a month ago. Movie starts and works flawlessly for about 39 minutes then the sound gets choppy and then no sound at all. I have to close iTunes and start over. I just downloaded the latest version 2 days ago. problem is still there.

I may have found the solution.
The original movie's format was and H.264 codec .mov file running at 551kbps - 4.1MB for a 0:59 minute clip.
I opened the original movie file in QuickTime Player 7 and exported it twice using two different mpeg4 settings - one resulting in a 1.3MB file (171kbps, scaled down to 320x240), and one in a 24.8MB file (at 3306kbps and the original size of 640x480). Logic had no problem what so ever with either of these files - playback was normal, and as I've experienced before, even viewing the video 2x or 3x bigger with a pop out window.
Now, opening another .mov file, that also uses the H.264 codec and I find no problems with playback and this movie file is a whopping 1280x720 and 3989kbps.
I've even exported the original file using the within QuickTime Player 7 H.264 codec and tested it - no problems within Logic Pro with the initial audio file I was working with or with others.
It seems the problem lies specifically with the original movie file and nothing else.
So this sort of problem seems to be resolved by a simple re-coding of the movie file that's causing the problems.

I have issues with Itunes 10.6 on Lion and Quicktime 10.1. They don´t play bought movies from I tunes store, any ideas why?

I found the same issue... I can play other movies but no purchased ones. I can get the sound but the picture is scrambled. Does anyone know how to uninstall and reinstall iTunes? maybe that will work.

  • Audio Clicking and broken up when playing back from timeline

Can anyone please give me some advice about a possible solution to a continuing audio problem I am having when using the Tascam Fireone with Final Cut Pro 5.1.4. (Fireone working well with Logic 7 on the same machine)
    The Symptoms are as follow:
When playing back edited clips or music from the timeline there are constant ugly pops and clicks.
Any audio or video and audio even with differing sample rates when played in the source monitor are unaffected and play perfectly.
I have tried everything I know and am now at a total loss as to what to try next.
Tascam's so called support ignore any communication from me about it, as do most people on this forum.
    Any suggestions welcome.
    Thank you

I think it is a driver issue between Tascam and Apple Firewire connections
It's all very frustrating as Tascam just do not respond to support questions well.
Thanks for your comments, it's back to the drawing board with the Fireone and Final Cut Pro, a great shame because it's cheap and very good with Logic.

  • Why does Audio stop at 5-minutes

Just got a new 160GB Classic that only plays audio books for 5-minutes, cuts off, the  after a while goes to next chaptor. is there a fix?

BTW, I'd be very concerned about a C drive with only 9 gigs of free space! That's a time bomb waiting to go off.
I'd never operate with less than 25-30 gigs of free space -- and I'm make sure to run Disk Cleanup and the Defragmenter regularly. 9 gigs is barely enough room for the operating system to breathe, let alone to open an intensive program like Premiere Elements.

  • Audio stops at particuar point when previewing iDVD

    Hello,
I've just created my very first iDVD using photos from iPhoto and music from a playlist from iTunes.
All is well except when I preview the DVD, the audio stops in one particular point on the slideshow - I read the help re: audio glitches but am hesitant to burn the DVD if not sure that this glitch will indeed be removed.
I'm a newcomer to Mac in general so any advice gladly received.
    Thanks

It is because the chapters reach 99 then start over at chapter 01 on the counter but it does continue on with the slideshow after the audio cuts out for a moment.
Does anyone know of a work around for the length of the chapters so that a 15:39 slideshow will not reach 99 chapters
Each image in a slideshow is treated as a chapter. A track (a slideshow is a track) is limited to 99 chapters. Prior to iDVD 6 slideshows were limited to 99 images. Apple created somedthing of a 'hack' in iDVD 6 allowing several tracks to be linked creating longer slideshows. The problem is, MANY DVD players don't like the 'hack'.
The only way arond the issue is to create a slideshow as a movie in iPhoto or iMovie.

  • Slight audio stutter in IDVD 6 when played on TV

I am new to IDVD, but the program seems pretty good. The only issue I am having is slight audio stutter throughout the slideshow on the burned DVD when played on a TV. I tried multiple TVs and they all had the same hiccup occur and at the same spot. The slideshow plays great in IDVD without any hiccups or hesitation. Also, the audio file is being imported from itunes and I have listened to it several times to rule out a bad song file. Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

Aparently, I am just going to create my own thread documenting my frustration on this journey
    You learn more that way.
According to their documentation, this is actually a DVD player issue and not an encoding issue. Ok??? Then, how come other programs are able to seemlessly play over 99 slides without the hiccup?
Slideshow audio playback drops out after 99 images at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302962 explains things.
DVD slideshows with more than 99 images are a recent 'hack' created by Apple. Images in such a slideshow are treated as Chapters and DVDs are limited to 99 Chapters per Track. When you use more than 99 images, your DVD player must jump to a new track for the 100th image. Some players can do this with no problem, others have a hiccup in the audio, and still others reset eveything.
The ONLY sure way of creating a slideshow with audio and more than 99 slides is to create one as a movie in iPhoto or iMove.
Sorry, but that's the way things work.

  • Audio problem with iTunes feed when played on iPod

I'm writing to see if someone can help.
The audio on my podcast works fine at Libsyn (at http://epltalk.libsyn.com). However, the same version that's on iTunes has audio problems when played on an iPod (it plays fine when it's played from the iTunes program on my Mac). During the interview portion of the podcast on my iPod -- downloaded from iTunes (listed under 'EPL Talk')-- you can only hear the answers, but you can't hear the questions (my voice).
Does anyone have any suggestions of what could be wrong? All of my other podcasts I listen to on the same iPod play fine. Very strange.
    Cheers,
    The Gaffer

Try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

I just downloaded an album on iTunes and some of the songs stop after a minute and move on to the next song. I'm having a real tough time finding an answer to this one. Does anyone know of a fix for this? Maybe a re-download?

  • ITunes for Windows 11.0.4: "iTunes has stopped working" error messages when playing videos, video podcasts, movies and TV shows

    Title says it all.
I've had this issue on this machine for some time but not forever. Music playback is fine but anything video related freezes the program. When I launch the program in safe mode it works though. Clearly some add-on or file is causing it to foul up.
Before anyone suggests this: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4221 <-- I've tried it to no avail so please don't repost
Anyways this is really annoying, please help.
    Thanks
P.S. I know my way around the computer so no need to cripple your explaination

    Hello Appropriator,
Thanks for the question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
The following article outlines further suggestions for troubleshooting video playback. While you have already completed one of the steps, there are a few more that you can try:
Troubleshooting iTunes for Windows Vista or Windows 7 video playback performance issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1718
    Additional Information
Some customers using computers containing NVIDIA nForce Serial ATA (SATA) controllers may experience unexpected behavior when playing videos in iTunes on Windows from a SATA hard drive. iTunes may unexpectedly quit or become unresponsive or the computer may unexpectedly reboot or show a blue screen. Standard IDE hard disks are unaffected by this issue. If your computer contains a standard IDE hard disk, you can copy your video files to that disk and play those copies of the files in iTunes or QuickTime Player.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Grey screen in iTunes when playing downloaded movie

Since the update from 10.7.5 Server ed. to 10.9 Mavericks on my Mini-mac I have problems with the playback of downloaded iTunes movies. The only thing I see is a grey screen. This not only is the case for playback with iTunes, but also for playback of DVD's.
When I want to play the movie on my AppleTV (from the iTunes library on the same mini-mac) it's no problem. On my iMac: same. No problem.
So it must be something on the mini that handles the playback of copy-protected material. I think I need to remove something and get it installed anew, probably something Quicktime related.
Is there anyone that can help me out?

I think I solved the problem.....In Itunes, I had my iphone set up to update VIA wireless...Itunes scans and constantly searches..which was causing the video to freeze up...when I disabled or disconnected the iphone, I no longer have issues.
