Audio stops playing on page turn

hello,
Hope any of you can help me. I added a audio file to a page, in a chapter. I want to the audio to start playing when the page is opened, I selected the "play on page load" option, BUT I also want to the audio to continue playing whilst I flip through the other pages in the chapter. For some mysterouis reason, the audio stops when I flip to the next page. The option "stop on page turn" is not selected.
Does anyone have a workaround to get this fixed? I need it really badly.
Thank you for your help!
Marl

Thank you for your response Bob!
I just found out, by accident!, that when you keep smooth scrolling on it works! -- The audio keeps playing just fine when browsing throuhg the next pages. Now the only thing I have to find out is how I can keep the smooth scrolling option in horizontal ONLY.

Audio stops playing on page change if horizontal sliding only is checked. But it works when it is unchecked (InDesign CC)  I would like it works in both cases. Is it possible ? I know it was not possible a few months ago...
Have another question : audio controller doesn't update on page turn even if the audio file is linked to the first one. Any idea ?
    Thanks for your help

    Hi Alexmamba,
I can't see how you would insert the coding for this option.  You'd need markers for the start and ending of any particular chapter.
Is this a book related to music?  As a reader, I'm not sure I would want to listen to music the entire time I'm reading, unless there was an option to turn it off.  It's like webpages that automatically play music when you visit the site.  What the author of the site thinks is great music is usually distracting to the reader.
My intention is not to be rude, by the way.  Just putting the comments out there for consideration.

Find another Mac and check that the A&H works, report back.
You should also consider a decent external interface, recording off the minijack is the worst choice.

  • Placed mp3 stops playing on page turn in exported pdf

Hi, I placed a sound file in an indesign file, left the 'media' setting 'stop on page turn' unchecked, and still, the file stops when i turn the page in the pdf. I have one button controling the play (mouse release action) and stop (mouseover action) of the file.

hi steve, you're right; from what i've found, the only way that an embedded audio or movie file will keep playing is if you float a controller. The problem there however is that you have to use the controller; that can be dealt with in pdf, but not from indesign, and if one has a lot of media files in their interactive pdf, that's a lot of work after export. from within indesign, that controller can be made fairly small, and it ends up sitting in the top right corner of adobe reader once a media file is clicked; and it only goes away if you close it; and if you open other media files, the contollers start piling up.
what i ended up figuring out as an alternative was that if you export to swf instead of pdf, for some reason the mp3 (i only tried mp3 in swf) keeps playing on page turn (with no controller); and the nice thing about swf is that you can get 'curl' page transitions, and since it opens as an html it's ready to go online.
the document has buttons that upon being clicked, play the file (with nothing popping up); and the mouseover stops the file; and click again plays it.
one thing that would be nice is if one audio file could be placed that buttons on other pages could access cue points within; unfortunately; buttons can only access audio files that have been placed on the page. so instead of having 1 file, accessed at different navigation points, you have 50 files cut from the 1, each with their own button.

  • When I play my Ipod shuffle 3rd gen there's a moment when I start hearing interference until it stops playing, when I turn it off and on again it starts playing from the first song all over again, and once it sounded like the music was slowing down.

My Ipod shuffle 3rd gen starts playing songs with some kind of interference until it stops playing, when I turn it off and on again it starts playing from the first song all over again, and once it sounded like the music was slowing down.  First I thought it was the earphones, but I exchanged them for newer ones and so far its the same

You may want to do a Restore on the shuffle in iTunes.  The Restore button is on the shuffle's Summary screen in iTunes.  This will erase the shuffle, re-install its software, and set it to default settings.  If it's a software or data corruption glitch, the Restore should fix it.  After the Restore, reload or resync your songs, and try it again.  As a test, you may want to initially select a small number of songs to put back on the shuffle.

  • Audio stops playing after applying effect

First of all, I'm a beginner, so any help is appreciated. I' ve strung a few clips together including a photo and some video. I imported a sound file to go with the clips. Everything worked fine until I applied an effect to the video clip (contrast and brightness). Now when I play back the movie, the audio stops playing soon after beginning the video clip. I've checked the volume of the audio and it's fine.... as soon as I undo the effect, it all plays fine again.
    Any suggestions?
    powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Hi jdoo and welcome!
Try extracting the audio from that video clip before
    adding the transition/effect.
Thanks for your suggestion. I just discovered what the problem was. When I applied the effect I didn't notice that there was a progress bar and that it took quite a while for the effect to be totally applied. I was trying to play the movie back while processing was taking place and that interrupted the audio.

  • Logic 10.0.6 Quicktime audio stops playing

I'm having an issue with Logic 10.0.6 where the QT audio stops playing along with the movie occaisionally.  Especially if I change anything in the tempo window, but also sometimes when I haven't changed anything at all.
To get it to start playing again all I have to do is open up the Movie settings window and touch the volume setting slider, but that doesn't keep it from happening again.  I've never had this issue with any previous version of Logic and have been running the audio this way for years.
Is anyone else having this issue, and have you found another more permanent solution?
    Thanks

I have the exact same issue. I'm running Mavericks. My friend that has Mountain Lion has no issues.
Although I thought all it was doing was cutting off 4 frames in the front. But it sounds like you're saying it shifts the whole track by 4 frames, which is even worse!
    Apple, fix this, please!

  • IPhone 6 audio stops playing with auto lock and when earphones pulled out

When playing an mp3 through Dropbox on my iPhone 6, by audio has been freezing when the phone goes into auto lock. It never used to do this, and I don't think I've changed any settings.
I tried playing music through iTunes to see if it was a dropbox issue. The same thing happens. It also happens if I"m listening through the earphones and I pull the earphones out of the phone. The audio just turns off. iTunes is still open, but it stops playing.
Does anyone know if this is an iPhone 6 thing?

    Thanks Meg,
    glad to know it's normal.
So my problem remains with the audio freezing when the phone goes into auto lock then. This didn't used to happen.
    cheers,

No, that shouldn't happen. Have you tried resetting your device by pressing and holding the Home button and power button until the apple appears?

  • Audio stops playing after a few seconds when importing a HD clip

I have CS4 running on Enterprise version of Windows 7 64 bit on the following hardware:
Processor:  Intel i7-970 Hex core Gulftown
    Motherboard: Asus P6X58 Premium
    RAM: 24GB Kingston DDR3 1065
    Video card: Nvidia Geforce9800GT
Four hard drives, system disk is stand alone and the other three are split in groups of RAID0
When I import a HD clip from file (EXCAM EX 720p60p) the audio will play in the source window or the timeline for a few seconds and then quit.  If I edit the clip in Soundbooth, from the timeline, the waveform quits at the point that the audio stopped in the timeline.
This behavior is very sporatic; sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't.  Closing the program and restarting sometimes solves a certain clips audio problem, sometimes it doesn't. Yesterday I worked all day without it happening but today it is happening every few clips.  Some I can fix by restarting Premiere, some I can't.
If I import the clip from Bridge to Soundbooth the audio waveform is just fine.
I have seen this problem discussed several years ago but never resolved in that discussion.  Any ideas?

Yes!  I imported the entire BPAV in a file on my scratch drive under the specific project folder.  From there I am using the media browser in CS4 to either preview the clip or import it into the project.  The audio drops out whether it is previewed or imported.  And as I have said, this behavior is not consistant.  I have yet to find a repeatable cure.
Also as I have said if I import the offending clip, from the same folder, into Soundbooth using Bridge the waveform is fine.  If I import the same clip into Soundbooth from the Premiere timeline the waveform goes flat where the audio stopped in Premiere.

  • Audio stops playing partway into mpeg4 video

I recently added an mpeg4 video into my itunes library. It plays just fine in itunes. However, when I try to watch it on the ipod, the audio disappears half-way through the video. The video does continue to play in its entirety, but without sound. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I have the same problems. I am using Adobe Premiere to output an uncompressed Quicktime Mov and since I cannot control the bitrate with Quicktime Pro when converting to iPod format I now use VLC to convert to a iPod compatible file. Up to now I use mpg4v with 1024KBit as Video and mpg4a with 128KBit as Audio. I output a quicktime mov file.
When I convert the video with Quicktime Pro using custom MP4 settings so I can play the file on iPod I get video glitches every 10 seconds when the picture gets like a washed effect and gets very unsharp.
It plays fine in iTunes and Quicktime but when playing on the iPod the audio just stops after approx. 15 minutes. Happened with 3 different Movie files. Everytime close to 15:20 into the video. All 3 Videos are very different in total length.
When encoding the initial Quicktime File I use Apple Photo JPEG for uncompressed video and QDesign2 Audio encoding.
Is there any step that might indicate a problem in the whole process?
Since we got a couple of iPod here, we also had the same problem on every other one we tried. All use the 1.2 Firmware and iTunes 7.02.
    Any help appreciated.

  • Can I make me Zen Touch stop playing music without turning it o

    NM

The stop button is a carry over from the days of cassettes and is not needed on a digital audio player. If you want to stop the track, simply hit the play/pause button.

  • Audio stops playing - USB Codec output - "sound" in System preferences

We play music at our church from iTunes on our MB pro to an Allen & Heath 420 mixer via USB. This is switched to USB output in sound in System preferences. We have been doing this flawlessly for about 1.5 years.
Recently, in the middle of the music it stops. There is no more signal to the mixer but if I switch the preferences to internal speakers there is sound continuing. The only fix is to reboot which is very problematic in the middle of a music set.
This happens also when playing through the USB from Garageband as well.
It seems like a system wide codec issue but I don't know what the fix is for it.
Any suggestions? I cannot simply switch to using the miniplug because we record through that.

Find another Mac and check that the A&H works, report back.
You should also consider a decent external interface, recording off the minijack is the worst choice.

  • Audio stops playing

After an edit of a Captivate movie, the sound suddenly
doesn't play any more after slide 22. In the Edit mode, the audio
is still there, both graphically, and it plays on the individual
slide. But not as the movie progresses. Help?????

Hi St. Mark - I have the same problem - let me give a few
more details, we might have something in common.
    1. I am on the .1418.1418 version of Captivate.
    2. I use a Dell D810 Latitude laptop with 1GB RAM and plenty
    of available disk space.
    3. I use a LogiTec USB port microphone / headset combo.
The audio records amazingly well - even better than via the
analog plug, which I tried at the beginning and gave up on. As I
preview each slide in my 52 slide series - and more than a few of
them have no audio at all - all is well. I hear all audio in
slingle slide preview and in 5-slide preview just fine. However,
when I publish and create a standalone .exe, and play the file, the
audio starts out just fine, and then cuts out to dead silence
somewhere along the way. On one try, it died after 6 or so slides.
On another, it made it almost to the end - around slide 47 it cut
out. I can still hear keystroke sounds, just none of my own lovely
voice. Maybe the laptop is getting sick of hearing me yammer ??
It feels like a RAM or conflict issue - so I even tried this
    - I saved the project, closed everything down (I typically only
have Outlook open with Captivate), rebooted, then published to the
.exe file, then closed Captivate, rebooted again, and ran the file.
That's the time it allllllmost made it.
Should I expect varying levels of success on my client's
machine based on their RAM? Not cool - because my clients are
school systems and municipalities, who don't always have great
    system specs.
