Audio stops when external link clicked on?

Hi
I have a V/O audio file which read out eveything which is shown on a slide. Some of my slides have external links to either websites or PDF downloads and if they are clicked on while the audio is still going it will stop. Is there anyway of the user to still be able to click on external links and have the audio still play?
I am using Captivate 5.5.

Can you please try the following steps to see if that work for you.
1     Insert the video/audio file that you have on the slide
2.    Then insert a button to the slide using which you can open a link or a file externally.
3.    Now on the button "Action" properties use the "open URL or file" option and then check the box "Continue playing the project" as shown in the image below:
4. Now publish the file and play it.

I can understand the fear of messing up a computer when I first started seriously working on computers back in the early 90's I had to format and re-install my operating system twice a day for quite a while before I figured out a very important step (at least important for me), and that was after I made a change to my computer to restart it. This way if I messed something up I only had to undo one thing and not 50 because I went wild on it. lol
Anyways, do not be afraid of your computer all you need to do is learn that step, how to keep your personal items backed up and then of course how to re-install your computer back to factory and you can always start over with a fresh build.
On to your questions:
Q - What are the steps to ensure that all HP updates are done.
A - Simply review the HP Support document: Using HP Support Assistant (Windows 8) and it will guide you through the process.

A - Simply review the Microsoft Support document: Windows Update: Frequently Asked Questions and again you will find answers to this question. (***Note: Do not worry if the document refers to Windows 8.1 it is only an upgraded version of Windows 8 and the steps are the same)
I am also including a Windows Support document: Install the latest Windows 8.1 Update, which will guide you through how to install the Windows 8.1 update on your computer.
And finally, to put your mind at ease I am providing you with two important HP Support documents: Backing Up Your Files (Windows 8), and Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8), which will provide you with all the instructions you need to backup your personal files so you do not loose them if you ever do mess up the computer, as well as provide you with instructions on how to put your computer back to how it came from the factory.

Audio stops when reconnecting external display [OSX10.10]

When I disconnect and reconnect an external monitor, the audio stops.
Audio appears to continue playing, but there is no sound.
Reproducable steps:
OS: OSX 10.10 Yosemite
Hardware: Macbook Pro 13" Retina Mid 2014, 16Gb RAM

1. Laptop connected to external display with Display Port cable
2. Headphones connected, music playing
3. Disconnect External display
4. Reconnect External display
5. Music stops playing
Current Workaround:
1. Stop music
2. Unplug headphones
3. Plug headphones back in
4. Resume music

Based on this post, I picked up a Ground-Loop Isolator ($17 at my local Radio Shack), connected it, and (so far) it's working perfectly. Dead silence.

Final Cut Pro 7: Audio Stops when clicking outside the program.

Just something that annoyed me and was wondering if their is a way to correct it. Whenever I am listening to a song within final cut in a video or in the viewer, it will stop playing if I click out of the program. For example i might be listening to a song and want to go do a google search or open another program and as soon as i do the audio stops. It will begin playing once i click back into final cut and everything works fine but its just bothersome. If anyone knows a way to change this please help me out!

well, I think if I remember correctly that might be a normal state, because FCP wants to "take over" completely. My systems are on MacPros with Kona Cards and I/Os setup for 5.1 output. I think I lose audio because the Kona wants only one app controlling it at a time. I'd have to be sitting in front of the box to figure it out. But oddly enough I'm actually home.

MacBook Pro (2007) Audio stops when Bluetooth enabled

All audio stops playing when Bluetooth is toggled to 'On' and 'Discoverable'. No receiving devices are on. iTunes music pauses, and if playing Pandora through Chrome, Pandora stops functioning, and must be restarted. When receiving devices are turned on, and Bluetooth is toggled 'On', the MacBook does not pair. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks!

Force AOL webmail to launch when mailto link clicked

Is there anyway to tell Safari to use AOL webmail when mailto links are clicked? The problem is IMAP doesn't work reliably on my wife's Mail.app for AOL, and she wants to be able to click on mailto links and send messages directly from AOL without having to go back and forth between webmail on Safari and Mail. She has a free AOL e-mail account.

Menu background audio stops when entering transition

Is there anyway for the menu audio to overlap a transition towards the timeline ?
I have a menu setup with audio and a still frame from a small movie as background, when hitting play all the menu play's the movie clip/transition which fades out and then starts at chapter 1 of the timeline. Problem I'm facing now is that the audio which loops in the menu stops when entering the transition clip. While I would like the audio to overlap the transition clip. Can't find anything related to audio which could set the audio to keep playing while the transition clip does it's job.
If encore doesn't support this, then it should be included. In that case does anyone know how to workaround ?

This is simply not possible in DVD-Video.
The format is visually dominant - which means any time you switch menus, timelines - even with transitions - the audio must change too.
You can - if you must - use Aufdio in the transition as well, but please bear in mind that there
i will
be a glitch as the visuals change - it's unavoidable.

Playing audio sound when slide is clicked

I have a button on my first slide which links to the third slide, and I want to play a sound as soon as the third slide is opened. How do I do this?

Drag the sound file to the third slide. Select the speaker icon for it, and in the Build Inspector, set its Build In to "Start Audio". Click the More Options button to show the Build Order drawer, and use the dropdown menu to set the build to start "Automatically after transition".

Audio stopping when movie changes

Old versions of Director would continue playing sounds/music using puppetSound even when the movie loaded another movie. However, I've been trying to bring some legacy projects into Director 12, and the sounds keep getting cut off. Any ideas?

Kinda. But not really an iLife/Mac problem. The DV (Digital Video) specification itself calls for the audio and video to be on separate tracks. These tracks are not locked together (however the Sony DVCam camcorders do lock the sampling rates together). Now if your camera records an accurate sample rate of 16-bit/48KHz, then you will never notice a problem. If all you capture are short clips, you will never notice a problem. However, if your camera is off in the slightest, then there will be a sync drift. How much drift depends on how far off the sampling rate is. I had a Canon GL1 (notorious for sync drift) that recorded audio at 48.0001KHz. By about 15 minutes into a long capture you could notice drift.
The good news is that extracting the audio should do the trick.

IPad2 audio stops when screen goes to sleep

As soon as my iPad 2's screen goes dark, the music fades out and stops. Hitting play starts it right back up. Happens the same via BT or the internal speakers. Tried killing all the apps and rebooting the iPad 2 - still happens. It's been working great until today. Any ideas?

Solved by using a 3rd party music player that can access the library on the iPad and no longer using Apple's iPod app.

Audio stops when locking...after iOS4 of course!

Since my iOS4 upgrade, whenever I play music, the first time the iTouch goes into lock mode the music crackles and stops. I then have to unlock the iTouch and then it starts back again by itself. After that I do not have any issues.
Obviously this never happened pre-iOS4!!!
Anyone else having the same issue?

It's also happening to me. Even worse, I need to unplug the earphone and plug it back to get the music back. Then another thing that I just realized today that though I have turn-off the Itouch, but it will turn-on by itself after 5 minutes. Not know what to do to solve this problem. It's really unpleasant experience.

Clicking external links switches to Firefox but won't open

I use Thunderbird (31.1.2) on a Mac (OS X 10.9.4). I frequently need to proof e-mails that contain a number of links (for a digital marketing campaign). When I click a link in the e-mail, Firefox (32.0.3) opens or becomes active, and if I have NO other tabs, will open my link. But when I switch back to Thunderbird, and click a second link, Firefox will again become the active app but my link will NOT open.
Again, if I have NO open tabs, the first click always works, but no other clicked links will work beyond that.
If I switch to Safari as my default browser, everything works fine. So I'm forced to do that as a solution but I really don't like it.
Any thoughts to help?

I have the same problem. The problem is intermittent. Sometimes external links open immediately, sometimes they don't. Sometimes if I try several times in succession, the link will eventually open. If I manually copy and paste the link into a new tab, it always works.
Firefox is set as my default browser and set to check such at startup. When external links fail to open, Firefox DOES activate and become the frontmost application. It just fails to create a new tab from the external link.
I am using Firefox 32.0.3 on MacOS 10.9.5. I believe this problem started with the update before last (the same one that created the failure of CMD-L to open a new window which has since been fixed.)

The default action is as you've noted. Audio stops when navigation to another page,
iBA doesn't offer a way to do differently, sorry.

Audio stops playing on page turn

hello,
Hope any of you can help me. I added a audio file to a page, in a chapter. I want to the audio to start playing when the page is opened, I selected the "play on page load" option, BUT I also want to the audio to continue playing whilst I flip through the other pages in the chapter. For some mysterouis reason, the audio stops when I flip to the next page. The option "stop on page turn" is not selected.
Does anyone have a workaround to get this fixed? I need it really badly.

I just found out, by accident!, that when you keep smooth scrolling on it works! -- The audio keeps playing just fine when browsing throuhg the next pages. Now the only thing I have to find out is how I can keep the smooth scrolling option in horizontal ONLY.

A2019 JB Intermittant audio skipping when screen off

I don't know if anyone else is using their tablet for an audio player, but when I am, I will randomly get a pause in the audio for a brief moment. I'm using Poweramp, which has an option for wakelock when the screen is off to deter problems with the audio stopping when the screen is off. The screen being off doesn't normally stop the audio, but the option doesn't seem to help either. It would seem the OS is attempting to do something like go into a lower power mode than is required for Poweramp to run, and Poweramp is pulling it back out... Or something.
Anyone else encountering this? Any ideas for a fix?

Make sure your apps and system firmware is up to date. As for the sound skipping when the screen goes off, I have seen that happen before and that usually only occurrs whenever a program in the background is being updated. Hope that helps.
