Audio streaming to speakers without TV on

when i stream a radio from my ipad to appletv2, audio will stop playing after i turn off TV.
my setup is
apple tv -> receiver (via hdmi) -> sony tv
is there a way how to stream music from ipad to my receiver via apple tv without tv turned on?
thank you

I have the same issue with the optical TOSLINK port. After a while when I try to stream music to my Apple TV, Apple TV is slectable on iPad and is on, but no music is sent via the optical link.
If I switch on the TV and retry sending the stream by deselect and reselect the Apple TV as streaming destination on my iPad, then it workes. After this I can switch of my TV and the music is playing the whole day long. Just that I have to set the Apple TV Standby to 10h.
I am on Software Version 4.4.4 (3330), crazy numbers :-)

  • Audio streaming with iWeb without advancing a page?

I set up my website with five menu buttons on the Welcome page which are linked to five different mp3 audio files. I published the public_html folder to a non .mac host. If you go to my website and click on an audio menu button on the Welcome page the site changes to a different page with a QT audio feed and you can hear the audio streaming. All well and good.
But I don't want my site to change to another page to hear that audio. Because when the visitors want to hear the next audio sample they have to click their backpage button and go back to the welcome page to start the process again. Each time they want to hear the next piece of audio they have to backpage return to the Welcome page.
Instead, while still staying on the Welcome page, I want the ability to stream the audio when a button is clicked, without being taken to another page. I want the visitor to be able to hear the audio without leaving the Welcome page.
Is there a way to do this?
    Thanks, Panther

    I'm sorry. I don't understand your instruction: target="myself"
When I'm using iWeb and I want to link the menu button to something my choices are:
One of my pages (which is a page within my iweb pages)
An External page (which is a URL off my site)
A File (which, in my case, is the audio mp3)
An email message (which directs the link to start up an email message with a predetermined email address)
    So, what exactly is: target=myself?
    Thank you for your reply

  • Stream Audio to Laptop Speakers over Bluetooth

    Hey everyone,
So I'm having an issue where I can't stream audio from any of my portable devices to playback through the laptop speakers, over bluetooth. I have no issues pairing devices to the laptop, nor sendng or recieving files using bluetooth. The only problem is streaming audio through the laptops speakers
I have the latest Bluetooth drivers installed for the ' Ralink rt3290 01 adapter'. I got the drivers from the official HP website (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4158&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=5386... yet audio streaming over bluetooth stll does not work
For testing purposes, I paired the same portable devices to another laptop from a different manufacturer, running windows 8.1 pro, and the audio streaming worked perfectly. All I did was pair the other laptop to my portable device, and press play.
I've spent some time browsing various forums looking for solutions, but nothing has worked so far. I don't know what else to try
Any and all help resolving this issue is greatly apprecited. I really want to show off the great speakers that this laptop has

     Hello @cipegwa,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I understand that your notebook computer is not able to stream audio from any of your portable devices to playback through the notebook speakers, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
To ensure that the Bluetooth software is installed correctly on your computer, I recommend removing the drivers from Programs and Features or the Device Manager. Once the old software is removed, please restart your computer.
When the notebook has booted back into Windows, I recommend downloading the HP Wireless Button Driver, as well as any applicable wireless or Bluetooth drivers needed from the HP Support Assistant.
Additionally, I also suggest following the steps below:
Step 1. Go to device manager
Step 2. Right click on "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" that you want
Step 3. Select "Update Driver Software..."
Step 4. Choose "Browse my computer for driver software"
Step 5. Choose "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
Step 6. Select "Ports (COM & LPT)"
Step 7. Select "Microsoft" at "Manufacturer" list
Step 8. Finally select "Standard Serial over Bluetooth link"
If you are still unable to pair with a Bluetooth device try the following:
Step 1. Search for "Change device" in the Windows 8 Start menu.
Step 2. Click on where it says Change device installation settings.
Step 3. Select the No, let me choose what to do option.
Step 4. Check the automatically get the device app option
Step 5. Click Save changes to save the settings you just chose
As well you can try this:
Step 1: Go to RUN (Windows Logo + R) and type “services.msc” and Enter
Step 2: Now find “Bluetooth Support Service” and double click on it
Step 3: Now click on Log On Tab and Type in "Local Service" without quotes
Step 4. Click on “This Account”
Step 5: Now remove any passwords leave the password field blank
Step 6: Underneath the upper left title should be a hyperlink "Start"
    Step 7. Click "Start"
You can also check Power Management tab and unchecked the box that said "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, and I look forward to your reply!

  • Can I use the new Apple TV without a display for audio streaming only?

    Here's my situation...
I have an Airport Express in my living room connected to my DSL modem to create a wifi network. I also have a current model MacBook Pro and would like to add an Apple TV to my bedroom system for music and Netflix audio streaming. I do not own a TV to do any setup.
If I bought an ATV for my bedroom and connected the optical output to my DAC, would I be able to accomplish my goal or is there a setup procedure on the ATV which mandates a display?
I realize I could just buy another Airport Express for easy audio streaming, but then I wouldn't have the Netflix audio capability which I would like since I watch movies on my MBP. I'm hoping like an Airport Express, the ATV would configure itself for audio streaming once connected to my wifi network.
Thanks for any help or ideas.

If you're planning to stream from iTunes to the AppleTV controlling the material via iTunes, I suspect it may just appear as an Airtunes speaker option for iTunes without any setup needed.
No Netflix in UK so don't know much about it, but I suspect you'd need to control the AppleTV directly for this unless you were viewing on the MBP and used something like Rogue Amoeba's Airfoil to transmit audio.
If you have no desire for controlling AppleTV either on an TV or using Remote app for iPhone etc (and you'd need to set AppleTV up with a TV for Netflix or AppleTV controlled streaming anyway), you might want to consider using another Express upstairs and hook it's optical out to your DAC if you're just after stereo audio.

    Hello Achates:
I did not read the rather long post. If you wish to reinstall OS X 10.4, use your software install DVD. Backup is essential. To minimize your risk, I would use an archive and install:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
In that way, you will have a fresh copy of OS X and your current settings will be preserved.
Incidentally, I do not agree that the printer problem is best solved by reinstalling OS X. I have had HP printers for sometime and, on one occasion, had difficulty after an upgrade. HP technical support walked me through uninstalling all traces of the HP driver and then reinstalling.

  • HT204368 stream stereo audio to separate speakers?

Hello all. Can you pair via Bluetooth two separate speakers to stream stereo audio? Left channel to one and the right to another. I see a couple of apps in the app store that will do this. Does anyone know if this is done thru the app or the speaker?

Sorry, but unless your TV has a means to generate an AirPlay audio stream, you won't be able to stream audio from your TV to the AirPort Express. I'm not aware of any on the market today that does.
Currently you can only stream from an iOS device or computer that is hosting iTunes to either an AirPort Express or Apple TV ... or any 3rd party AirPlay compatible device.

  • How do I output Audio through computer speakers while outputting video via Firewire to TV

I'm outputting the video and audio streams via a FireWire connected Camcorder to a TV display (used as a third display), but I want the audio to output through the computer speakers and not through the Camcorder speakers as is happening.  If I disconnect the Camcorder, the audio outputs through the computer speakers normally.  This must be an audio out setting issue but I can't remember which settings to adjust.  I used to do this in an earlier version of PRE but I've forgotten the settings.  I'm using PRE 9.0.  If someone can understand what I'm trying to say, I hope that person can help me.  Thanks.

Good thought.  I was thinking the same way, and I tried  adjusting every
setting that's there but without any luck. It must be  a setting within PRE
that would allow the video output stream to be split from  the audio output
stream but I just can't find the setting.  As I mentioned  in the posting, I
used to do this in an earlier version of PRE.

  • Multiple Audio Streams?

I'm wondering if there is an application that will allow the computer to route multiple audio streams out of my Mac Pro. or- if anyone knows how to create an easily switchable audio routing panel rather than going through preferences.
Eg. I'm playing Itunes (or hulu or netflix) through my audio line out through my Samsung TV thorough a speaker system to watch online content through the TV and I want to work on files on the computer at the same time, say edit video using FCP and routing that audio through USB speakers at the desk.
Being able to create multiple audio stream routing would be a HUGE asset for someone like me. Even if it's not possible, I would certainly love it if Apple would incorporate a quick switch selector in the pulldown menu for audio volume...
    Thoughts? Anyone?
    Thanks!

Thanks, the "auxillary effect" totally helped me stream itunes music to my iSight with soundflower....giving webcam streaming my system audio, which I couldnt do before without hearing anything....ugh so complicated! but this works!! Sometimes apple is so rediculous and I know there are more features they could build in.
    Thanks!

  • Intermittent Audio Thru Wireless Speakers

I am running a Mac Mini and all of the audio goes to wireless speakers. Wireless audio streaming device is a USB connection - one into back of Mac Mini and one into the back of the wireless speaker.
Audio works perfectly but after a while just cuts out. Solve the problem by adjusting the volume up (on the remote control or on computer) and after a few seconds the audio is there again. To be lost a few minutes later. Sometimes it fixes itself without touching any volume control. This occurs whether I am running music through iTunes or watching TV through EyeTV.
Had issue even before new upgrade to Snow Leopard.
Wondering if this is a MacMini issue or a wireless speaker issue?
    Thanks. Miles

When I first set up the AudioEngine5 speakers I bought an Airport Express and used Airfoil. As you mentioned there is a very noticeable lag between the audio and video (a few seconds) on any video application whether it be TV through your PC or a DVD through your PC (which I use both).
The solution was to get rid of the Airport Express and Airfoil and order Audioengine's W1 (AW1) Premium Wireless Audio Adapter - see their website. One adapter plugs into the PC's USB slot and the other plugs into the speaker. Similar to a Bluetooth wireless connection - same principle. The range is pretty good and there is no lag between the video and audio signals whether you are watching a DVD or TV on your PC.
I am very happy with the overall Audioengine5 set-up. Value for money the speakers are very reasonable for what you get. The adapters up the price a bit but to get rid of amplifiers and wires, and have the PC as your hub for everything this is a great solution.

  • C# Webbrowser using VLCplugin to play online audio stream

    Hello all,
I have been trying to get the VLC to play a audio stream from a URL address.
I created a forms application and added a webbroswer from the toolbox. I can navigate no problem but if I goto a link like
    http://audio.wgbh.org/otherWaysToListen/wcai.m3u
I get a popup dialog that asked do I want to open this file. If i accept VLC opens and it plays no issue.
However, what I want is it to play without the popup and in my application not with the VLC installed on my computer.
I have seem many things about VLC selecting files but I have not been able to find a reference for pulling a stream with my C# form when browsing with the webbrowser item on my form.
    Any help would be thankful.

    Hi Badidea,
    >> However, what I want is it to play without the popup and in my application not with the VLC installed on my computer.
Do you want to open the url without the popup? If so, I think you could block downloads from the webbrowser control, the link below shows the details:
    # How to block downloads in .NET WebBrowser control?
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/483262/how-to-block-downloads-in-net-webbrowser-control
But with this way, I am afraid that you could not open the audio. If you want to open the audio without the popup, I think you could automatically download the file, more information you could turn to the link below:
    # Suppressing the Save/Open Dialog box in a WebBrowser control
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3538874/suppressing-the-save-open-dialog-box-in-a-webbrowser-control
But if you want to open the audio in your application without the VLC, I am afraid that you could not achieve that. As you know, the audio needs the special player from the URL, I think it is restricted if you want to open the audio without the player.
    Sorry for the inconvenient.
    Best Regards,
    Edward

  • Home Theater need. Multiple Audio Streams from 1 card or possible to use 2 car

I currently have 2 SB Li've's installed and a SB Audigy in the box.
I would like to be able to send different audio out to different devices. I need to send audio from a game interface called MAME 32 to a speaker system connected to the PC. I also use this PC as a home theater PC and want to send audio from my DVD playing software out to my TV(in analog stereo mode) and/or to my receiver(in Dolby Digital mode using the digital connector).
I would like to be able to run these seperatly without having to go into the Control Panel and switch the default sound card like I am doing now. I do not need to run them at the same time.

Bummer. Are you guys working on something that might have this capability? Seems to me that the closer we integrate PC's into our entertainment systems the more need we will have for the ability to do multiple audio streams, i.e. MP3's to the living room. DVD movie audio to the family room, XM radio classical station to the kitchen for mom etc..
Intel is offering this as an onboard solution that has the ability to do at least 2 different streams.

  • Does my new XBR65X900C support 5.1 audio streaming with Netflix?

Hello, Does the XBR65X900C support 5.1 audio streaming via the optical output or ARC via Netflix or Amazon in 4K? I've tried connections to my receiver via ARC and also via optical, and the TV: - In Netflix never shows "5.1" as an option- Only outputs two channel in Amazon On the receiver I've tried two of the three audio options:- "Auto 1" setting, which outputs compressed audio with no changes- "PCM" setting I didn't select "Auto 2" at first which seems to be the same, but sends compressed, multi-channel audio with no changes but I'm assuming it would have no effect given the wording implies it simply sends two channel audio compressed without encoding. I did subsequently try the "Auto 2" setting, but it had no impact on the issue. I did try the same receiver (Onkyo TX-NR1030) with an LG TV and it receives a 5.1 source from the same Amazon account. The manual suggests the TV does in fact support streaming audio in 5.1, but I cannot seem to activate this on the TV. Please advise,Matt

I have just bought the KD55X8500C on Saturday, only to find that the TV doesn't have 5.1 for Netflix.  I am yet to try google play movies, but from what I am seeing, I'm not holding my breath. It's 2015 SONY!! How can a $3k TV be sold that can't do 5.1 sound on streaming services, and no where on your site or in merchandising material to you highlight that this is a limitation of the TV. I want a Sony rep to tell IF this going to be fixed, WHEN it is going to fixed, or if not, where do I get approval to return my TV for a full refund so I can go buy a SAMSUNG that I know can do this. Again wont hold my breath - in Australia the tech support phone line is only available from 8am to 6pm on weekdays!! So only unemployed people can get support!

  • I want to connect the ipod directly to the car 's speakers without any amplifiers, is there any danger to burn the ipod?

I want to connect the ipod directly to the car 's speakers without any amplifiers, is there any danger to burn the ipod?

No, but it will not work. The iPod does not have an amplifier in it that is powerful enough to drive the speakers in your car.
So, do you have a stereo in the car, either factory fitted or one you have had fitted after it came out of the factory? If you do, check to see if the car's stereo either has a dedicated input for an iPod or an auxilary (aux input) socket.
Some modern cars (for example, my 2006 model Mazda 3) have stereos that can be fitted with iPod connectors. I paid to have one fitted to my Mazda's factory-fitted stereo. So now, I connect my iPod to the car's stereo via a dock connector and I have limited control of the iPod from the car's steering wheel. Some cars have more sophisticted control than mine does.
Alternatively, if the car's stereo has an Aux input socket, you only need to buy a headphone-to-headphone lead and connect from the iPod's headphone socket to the Aux input.
If you don't have either of those options, another method is to use a transmitter. These small radio transmitters are connected into the headphone socket of the iPod and then transmit the audio (like radio) so that you can tune your car's radio to the same frequency as the transmitter. You control the iPod as you do when using headphones. The sound quality will porbably not be as good as the dedicated dock connector method, but it's reasonable.

  • Does the optical audio stream directly to a receiver?

Can you stream music directly through the optical audio out on ATV2 without the tv being on?  (similar to airport?)

In theory yes, though it's not officially advertised as a feature, except that a recent firmware update scuppered the functionality.
A recent firmware has supposedly fixed this but I've not tested myself to confirm as AppleTv is in another room to my hi-fi.

  • Handling Audio streams accross a network

    Hi,
I have written a Computer Telephony Interface package for a SIP based PBX system and I'm currently exploring the possibility of turning it into a fully functional SIP softphone. The program has a basic SIP stack which I have extended to include the call setup messages, I just need some advice in how I can handle RTP properly.
The PBX uses G.711 A-law audio codec and I have noticed that the JMF doesn't support type 8 RTP for A-law.
Here is the scenario, a call comes into the program over the network using a standard Datagram socket, when my program answers the call I can see a load of bytes fired into my system every 20ms (160 bytes audio), I need a solution to convert those bytes into an audio stream and play them through my computer speakers.
Can anyone give me any guidance on this?
    Thanks
    Brett

I'm currently doing something similar, and I think this explains a lot
    http://java.sun.com/developer/JDCTechTips/2002/tt0319.html#tip1
atleast how to play those data bytes as audio and how to do some
    encodings.
If you're using datagram socket, the packets come in in a random order,
so doesn't your audio sound a bit weird? Unless you have some mechanism
to put the packets in correct order.
