Audio Suddenly Playing "fast"

I don't know what I've changed, but now all programs are playing audio at the wrong speed. Too fast. It happens in QT, ITunes, Apple DVD Player, etc... any suggestions?
thanks!!

OK, I found the 'issue'... I received a ProTools session from another studio, which was setup differently than mine. When I load that session, it changes certain settings... that was the last session I had open. So I re-opened ProTools, then opened one of 'my' sessions... closed ProTools... problem solved. Very bizarre. But maybe that will help someone else.

The scrubber bar is the bar that shows the progress of playing the podast. It is a line with a moving marker that movers to the right as

  • Wma audio book plays too fast

I downloaded an audio book from the library, changed the speed to podcast, and the book still plays fast on my phone. It plays normal speed in itunes.

I have the same problem with an iPhone 4 OS version 5.1.1
Following advice on another site I restored the factory setting, re-loaded everythin and STILL the audio books purchased from iTunes play at high speed.
On my iPod touch the audio books play at the correct speed
On the computer using iTunes they also play at the correct speed.
Until there is a solution for thisissue  I will not be buying any more audio books from iTunes.
I hope that the good people at Apple support can give advice.

  • Audio book plays too fast on the ipad - how do i fix it?

audio book plays too fast on the ipad - how do i fix it?

While I don't listen to audiobooks on myh iPad, the following might apply in your case:
When you navigate to the player controls in the iPod app, in older OS's, and perhaps still in the Music app in iOS 5, you will see a variable speed control on the right hand side of the scrubber bar. Sequential taps on that change the speeds.
This does appear in spoken content only, I think, as I see it in podcasts all the time. It's not there for video or music content, so I'd expect it to appear for Audiobooks as well.

  • Suddenly, no audio while playing/importing

i have always heard the audio when playing the camera and importing from the camera. suddenly, no longer. the audio is there. it is there on the imported clip.
why am i not hearing it?

I guess I am probably rephrasing the question already asked but the wee slider under the viewer window (right-side of under) with the blue button is not greyed or set to its left-most position, is it? I sometimes mute the video during import because I have the sound ON because I am running iTunes or watching stuff on YouTube and then forget what I did to selectively hear sound. Most simple answers are SOMETIMES the right ones. Here is hoping.
Other than that- you have not recently updated your iMovie 6, have you? Or changed camera? I guess not, as you DO say "suddenly" but updates sometimes seem irrelevant when they are not...
The only other suggestion I have for you is that I know that if I have the LCD screen open on my camera the audible sound is routed via the camera in playback/transfer, meaning that I will be monitoring the sound via the camera and NO LONGER the iMovie application (although the sound is recorded to the iMovie file as you say).
Hope you sort it out because I'd die if I could not monitor and work out if there is a point tranfering footage at all! Seeing how important my footage's sound is to my final video!

  • Stumped! Can't Get Some Audio To Play.

I have some files that I converted with Visual Hub and I used their Apple TV 5.1 encoding. I have my Apple TV hooked up to my TV through HDMI. I recently moved and now no mater what I can't get the audio to play for those files. I have audio when I go through the menus and if I listen to music or podcasts. But these files that have DD 5.1 all of a sudden don't play. I've tried everything I could think of. Can anyone help?

  • How can I get tracks to play faster than normal speed in itunes?

I have lectures, audio books, and other recordings that I would like to play at faster than normal speed (like 1.5X or 2X normal speed).   I've set all of these recordings as audio books because I read that they have the option to play faster, but, I can't find how to actually make them play faster.  I also read that it's possible to open them in quicktime, but that is very much less than ideal and a waste of time.  Surely there is a way to do this in itunes, but I can't figure it out.
    Thanks for any help.

I will show you how I played my audio or mp3 files at any particular speed. This method will allow you to simply enter in your desired speed.(ex. 1.5 or 1.33)
In my case Im using an audio book [Lord of the flies] I download off youtube as a MP3 file using this program:
    http://download.cnet.com/MediaHuman-YouTube-to-MP3-Converter/3000-2140_4-7544580 3.html
First off,  you will need to make sure your audio file is open in QuickTime player rather then iTunes. First you need to locate the audio file. If your audio file is in itunes then right click the file and select "Show in Finder"
The file should open in a finder window, highlighted. Right click the file, go to "Open With.." And click Quicktime Player. (If quickTime Player is not an option, you need to go to "Other..." and select QuickTime Player from your Applications folder)
Now that your mp3 file is open in a QuickTime window you may proceed to step 1.
    1) Open Finder
    2) Click Applications
    3) Click Utilities
    4) Open AppleScript Editor
    5) In the program copy and paste the script below.
    6) Click "Compile"
    7) Now to test this script, click "Run" A window should pop up prompting you to enter your desired speed (default is 1.5)
    8) press "OK" and quick time should start playing your audio at the speed you entered in.
    9) If you would like to use this script again, go to File > Save... >Name your AppleScript and save it Anywhere (I saved mine in the Music Folder for easy access)
    tell application "iTunes"
    pause
set myTrack to location of current track
    # the player’s position within the currently playing track in seconds
    set mySeconds to player position
    end tell
    # show a Dialog
    set SpeedFactor to 1.5
display dialog "Enter speed factor:" default answer SpeedFactor
set SpeedFactor to text returned of the result
    tell application "QuickTime Player"
    activate
    # pause all previously opened documents
    set open_docs to documents
    repeat with doc in open_docs
    pause doc
    end repeat
    # open the track just played in iTunes
    open myTrack
    # get the 'QuickTime' document, MyTrack should be equivalent but it isn't
    set MyMovie to first document
    # rewind by 10 seconds
    if mySeconds > 10 then
set mySeconds to mySeconds - 10
    end if
    # set current time
set current time of MyMovie to mySeconds
    # set Speed Factor and start playing
set rate of MyMovie to SpeedFactor
    end tell

  • 5d Mk III audio suddenly cuts to loud digital hiss.

I am having issue with 5d Mk III files that I have "shortened" using QT Pro (Using "Trim to selection") . I have not had this issue before, and am using the same techniques. Basically, the file plays great in QT, but now, when I import into PP the audio suddenly cuts to very loud digital Hiss midway through the clip. Any thoughts?
This happened after I switched to the CC version of PP. This did not happen in PP CS 6.
I no longer have the full master files. Only the ones that I shortened in QT Pro.
    Thank you very much.

  • Audio playback too fast

I have an ipad2 and I'm having problems with the audio. The playback of audio files saved on the ipad is too fast. The same files playback perfectly on my pc. This is not the case for audio streams playing directly over internet radio - no problems there.
Any suggestions of what can be done?

Try quitting the iPod app. First go to the home screen. You cannot quit an app if you are in the app itself that you want to quit.
Quit the app by double tapping the home button to bring up the multitasking/recents tray at the bottom, hold down on any of the app icons in the tray until all the icons wiggle, then tap the minus sign in the corner to quit the offending app or apps. Restart the iPad and try again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button at the top of the iPad until the red slider appears, then slide to the right to power off the iPad. Turn the iPad on again by pressing the sleep button until the Apple logo appears. Once the iPad has fully rebooted, find your app, and tap the icon to relaunch.

  • Audio suddenly stops working with my voice over although I can see the track there is no sound?

So I'm doing a project and recording voice, in several parts, over with no problems. I go to play back and it all works just fine for a few minutes then the audio suddenly cuts out. I can see all the clips with the associated graphs and can't see any issues, the audio just stops???

If it will not connect to your computer, and it will not connect to the Internet, either via WiFi or cellular data, then there is no practical way to extract the information. There are no magic words that will fix the broken hardware.
You could try a 3rd party data recovery service, but doing so will forfeit your right to a discounted out of warranty replacement. Only you can decide it it's worth that.

  • Why when i play fast H264 LLLL i got an high cpu comsume?

    hi
i have noticed that with some containers , when i play fast a video LLLL in short i use the jog shuttle controls  i got an high cpu consume %70 or even %80
    for example this mp4 video
    Codec: H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1)
    Resolution: 1280x688
    Frame rate: 23.976023
audio Codec: MPEG AAC Audio (mp4a)
with others containers i have such issue
    thanks
i'm running cc under w8.1 pro

I have searched all over the web too to find any solutions regarding the unavoidable problem of Macs with Adobe's Flash Player. There are little improvements of reducing the high CPU during Flash use on a Mac through changing your main browser to Opera, Camino ... BUT it is still a problem which cannot be solved for now. The following URL is from Adobe's Bug Website and explains exactly what is wrong with Flash on a Mac:
Very High CPU usage and thus High Fan speed.
    https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FP-890
Here's another link to a similar problem in the Apple Discussions:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8920577
And finally the comparison of CPU usage between Mac and Windows which shows very clear that there's obviously something MAJOR not working and Adobe has to fix it!
    http://arstechnica.com/software/news/2008/10/benchmarking-flash-player-10.ars
It is a shame that this problem is out for years and Adobe is NOT trying to fix it, or at least not as intense as they should. So this is the reason why many people all over the world have to live with their Mac running high fan and a hot CPU when just browsing the internet.

  • Import plays fast

    Friends,
    I have FCP 6 on a G5.
I am having an unusual experience with video that I import.
Items that I capture via my decklink card are fine.
When I import a file.mov that has the DV codec
    ( 720x480 29.29 48kHz 16 bit str )
it will seem to play fast , and it ends before the audio is done. But if I scrub through it , I will hear that the audio is there. I have tried a render all ( i have no red line )
These are videos that I am getting from an Avid Xpress and file.mov with DV codec that I get from other sources.
    What is going on?
    How can i solve this?
    thnaks
    j

This may be kind of a stupid question, but what frame rate does FCP say the footage is? You posted that the file is 29.29fps. If it truly is, that may be where your problem is. NTSC footage should be 29.97fps.

  • Some purchased songs playing fast now, were fine

I have a handful of songs (about 38) I purchased in the i-tune store all of which are un-protected AAC audio files which played fine when originally downloaded but now play at close to twice speed. And not just in i-tunes. I've tried moving a file and playing it in a different audio player but still plays fast. The rest of my library (protected or not) plays fine. After sycning my i-pod now the songs that are playing fast in i-tunes are now playing fast in my i-pod. Crupted files? If so how? And can any of this be fixed? The i-tune's version is 10.2.2.14 on windows xp

Are these songs/albums purchased from the iTunes Store?
If so, is your computer authorized? From the "Store" menu in iTunes, click on "Authorize computer...".
Try deleteing, and reloading the songs back onto your iPod after authorization.
If this attempt doesn't help, you may want to try restoring your iPod. This may clear off internal issues with your iPod when it comes to playing these certain songs.

  • Audio suddenly stops working

Product Name: HP 2000 Notebook PC
    Product Number: E0K74UA#ABA
    Operating System: Windows 8 64-Bit
Over the past few days, I've been having trouble with the audio on my computer. When I start it up, the audio is working fine. However, after some time has passed, (it varies each time) the audio suddenly stops working. I can mute the audio, but it takes about 5 presses of the button to do so. The audio will not play at all; not for webpages, Windows Media Player, or even the system sounds.
Troubleshooter cannot detect any problems with the audio and whenever I try to change the properties of the speakers, it claims "This device is being used by another application", even when I do not have any applications open. All drivers are up to date, and other than the audio not playing, the computer runs fine. By restarting the computer, the problem fixes itself, but eventually the sound disappears again.
If at all possible, I would prefer a solution that will not delete any files or programs that I have downloaded. I'm also very inept with computers, so I may need a step-by-step walkthrough to follow.
