Audio Swap With QT Pro 6

Hi,
I have QT Pro 6.5.2 running on Panther. I just DLed two rather large QT video files of a foreign TV show. They seem to be exact copies of the same video, with one being higher resolution.
Heres the problem. The high res copy has terrible audio, The low res copy has great audio, and all but unwatchable video. Is there a way to swap the good audio over to the good video?
TIA
Chris

You will need QT Pro to do the swap. Open the movie with the good audio and go to the Edit menu. You will see Extract Track under that menu. Choose the Sound Track and click OK. A new document containing the sound track will open. Now go to the movie with the bad audio, click on Delete Tracks and choose Sound Track. Do Select All and then Copy to put the remaining Video track on the clip board. Then open the extracted Audio track, make sure the play head is at the far left, and choose Add Scaled from the Edit menu. This will add a new sound track with the good audio scaled to the exact length of the video track. At this point you will be able to use Save As in the File menu and be sure to choose Make movie self-contained. That should give you the good audio and the good video in a single movie.
A note for any QT 7 users lurking here. The instructions are a little different for that version but the basic instructions are contained in the pdf guide to QT 7 available here:

  • Audio recording with QT Pro vs. QT Broadcaster

Need to record a seminar (audio only) and live webcast parts of it. Audio goes from mixer to line in on Macbook with QT Pro and QT Broadcaster. Broadcaster will record to disk, but it appears to have no metering. It also appears that to record with Broadcaster, you have to be broadcasting. I successfully recorded with QT Pro while broadcasting. Questions:
    1) With QT Pro, how far into the red is safe on recording?
    2) Are there any input metering options (like displaying the peaks for a second or two)?
    3) Can you change the default naming from Audio n.mov to something else?
    4) With QT Broadcaster, is there any level indication - how can you tell if your level is good?
    5) It seems simplest to record with QT Pro and just turn on Broadcaster when needed. QT Pro won't let you pause a recording and resume with the same file, but I can live with that. But is there a better way to do this?
    Thanks,
    John

    OK, that is really true...
While I was waiting for a reply, I tried what David suggested and used my video Hi8 to simulate a transfer with no sound except the one from my tapes....and guess what ????
    it works !
I am going to try it again with STP and QT7 under same conditions.
Funny that these boxes seem to need a video running.
Even more than that, I have tried an empty tape...and it does not seem to work !
Which means you really need an active signal
thanks a lot for this reply which is very helpful

  • Audio Issues with MacBook Pro (Late 2008)

I am seeing an occasional issue with my MacBook Pro (Late 2008). The Audio will go out... and instead you will just hear static-like clicking sounds when and audio even happens. For example... when you have the up/down volume notification on... and you change the audio volume.. you hear clicks. Or... when you open up a file that has audio.. you will hear the static-like click when the audio starts to try to play.
The work around per-se is to completely shutdown and turn the notebook back on. A simple restart does not seem to fix it... it looks like the system needs to have a bit of energy drain first. Which... worries me that this is a hardware issue and not a driver issue.
Wondering how many others are seeing this???

I went to and Apple Support Center last week and I asked some questions about audio because my MBP was having troubles too. The tech told me audio issues are very frequent on these machines and sometimes you have to change a part of the soundcard. He also added you have to bring the MBP to a support center if you're having the problem several times - in my case I'm waiting the next "crash" since I had only 2 issues so far... If you're under warranty go for a check up and see if it really needs assistance. Goodbye

  • Adjusting audio sync with Macbook Pro to Zepplin Air.

Hi everyone. I have a Bowers and Wilkins Zepplin Air speaker, which uses airplay. I have noticed the speaker has a 2 second delay from when i press play on Itunes to when the audio comes out the speakers. This is no issue at all, however when i watch a video with audio, i.e, Youtube or films because of the 2 second delay the audio and lip sync is way out. If i watch a youtube clip on the youtube app on my Iphone it automatically adjusts to the -2 seconds, so that the sync is correct. Does anyone know how i can adjust this when viewing any kind of videos on my Macbook Pro, when using Safari.
    Hope someone can help?
    Regards
    Lee

  • Help setting up my audio interface with logic pro x

    Hi everyone,
I am a newbie with regards to home recording and using Logic Pro X and I need some help and advice about setting up my home recording set up for the first time. I want to connect my synthesizer Korg Triton Extreme to my Audio Interface Steinberg UR22 to my Apple Imac computer.
What I would like is if I can create backing tracks or use pre-set sounds or drum patterns from my Korg Triton Extreme synthesizer and then transfer them onto Logic Pro X to help me compose songs.
How should I go about doing this? And what settings should be applied to Logic Pro X so that I can hear the songs as they are being played and recorded?
So far I have connected my synthesizer's two outputs to the two inputs on my Steinberg UR22 Audio Interface. I have also connected the USB point on the audio interface to my Apple Imac computer. But when I have tried to add a drum track from the Korg Triton Extreme synthesizer I cannot seem to add any of the drum sounds. Nothing appears to be recorded despite me trying several times. I cannot hear any sound coming from the audio interface either despite having a pair of headphones plugged into it.
I would also like to find a way to synchronise the drum tracks I want to record from my Korg Triton Extreme synthesizer to Logic Pro X. So that when I click on the record button on Logic Pro X the synthesizer track automatically starts playing and recording on Logic Pro X. Whats the best way to do this? And will I need a Midi cable for any of the things I want to do?
    Many thanks,
    James.

    Hi James
I just got myself a macbook pro and logic pro X, and I also have a Triton Extreme and the UR22. So I know what the learning curve can be like - it's been a long time since I've used a sequencer in a computer.
I assume you are aware of the difference between audio and midi? With your current setup, all you can do is play your Triton and record the sounds as audio loops - you should be able to hear the Triton through headphones plugged into the UR22, and (assuming you have installed the UR22 driver) you can also hear the Triton through your computer speakers (or headphone output) once you tell Logic there is sound coming in from the UR22.
If you want to be able to play the sounds in logic pro, or transfer drum patterns (which are in midi format), you will definitely need midi cables (you may be able to use midi by connecting the Triton's USB out to your computer, but having not tried that, I don't know if it will work - it does on more recent synths)

  • Help for audio Issues with Mac Pro

My mac book Pro 15"(i5, 2010 model, OSX maveric), is having audio fluctuations. Whenever I try to play audio or video files, the volume fluctuates and the audio symbol on the display fades out and comes back again frequently. any solutions to this problem

  • Klipsch 2.1 Audio System with MacBook Pro

I have a Klipsch 2.1 Audio System (Left and Right Speaker + Subwoofer) that I was using with my Windows PC that I decided that I wanted to plug into my Mac. I plugged in the 3.5mm audio cable, which also connects the subwoofer. How do I get my Mac to realize that there is a 2.1, not a 2.0 audio system connected. In other words, how can I configure the audio settings to optimize the use of the subwoofer?

nevermind.. i just need to adjust my Logitech Control "effect" settings to DPLII Movie/Music.

  • No Audio Converting with QT7 Pro

Working in a Windows XP environment, I am trying to convert a ".mpg" video to the ipod format (m4v). Even though video is transformed, there is no sound. Do you know how can I do to export a mpeg file and get video with sound for the new iPod?

QT does not export sound from muxed mpeg files (mpeg-1 or mpeg-2) QT Mpeg Limitations
One workaround is to convert mpeg-1 files to uncompressed avi using this freeware Windows program VirtualDub
Open the mpeg-1 in VirtualDub and go to the File menu. You will see a choice to Save as Avi. That will convert the mpeg-1 to uncompressed video and sound, which QT Pro will be able to read and from which it will convert both the sound and video. Note that the uncompressed avi will be very large, so if the file is more that a minute or so you may have to do it in sections. If you select a portion of the timeline using the check mark buttons only the selected portion will be converted.

  • Audio problem with Intensity Pro + VHMulticam

I've been able to stream using my Black Magic Intensity as the direct source straight into FMLE but uploading at 60fps is too much for my connection so the quality becomes very poor. To fix this I tried VHMulticam which allows me to reduce the framerate sent to FMLE down to 24fps and the resolution down to 720x400. On justin.tv the picture quality is fine so that's all working, the problem is that if I try and stream audio too nothing gets sent and j.tv says the broadcast is online but never loads it.
Turning off audio on FMLE fixes the problem but obviously that's no use to me. In the log whilst trying to stream audio it restarts the broadcast every 30 seconds or so and says there was a problem encoding the audio. When I'm using the Intensity as a direct source the audio works fine but I can't work out why VHMulticam has any effect on it as that only takes the video feed.
Any suggestions or recommendations for other programs would be much appreciated.

If you use a size 720x576 you can set your fps to 25 fps or you can take NTSC size 720x486, you can take an FPS of 29.97 fps.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can you clip MP3 audio clip with QT Pro 7?

    Hi:
That's my question! TIA for any suggestions.

I have .mp3 music files in my itunes, but need to convert them to .aiff files. I was told from someone that this conversion can be done in the Pro version.
Why bother? You say the files are already in iTunes. Why not just use iTunes to convert them? Simply set your "Import Setting" preference to the "AIFF encoder" and you can then use the iTunes "Advanced" menu option to convert single or multiple selected files to AIFF.

  • Can I use a VS-700C control surface with Logic Pro?

    Hi,
Does anybody know if I can use a Roland VS-700C control surface and/or VS-700R audio interface with Logic Pro?
    Cheers,

If it supports the Makie protocol, it might work... but I wouldn't purchase one on that basis without trying it first.

  • I recently purchased an Onkyo stereo receiver with a wireless USB adapter, UWF-1, and want to stream audio from my MacBook Pro through my stereo system. The receiver tells me it is connected to my wireless LAN, but I cannot get music to play?

New to the community here, thanks for your patience.  I recently purchased an Onkyo TX-8050 Network Stereo Receiver with the UWF-1 USB adapter with the intent to stream audio from my MacBook Pro to the stereo. I have gone through the setup instructions for the adapter and the receiver gives me a message saying that it is connected to the password protected network, but that is as far as I can get.
I have gone into iTunes and clicked on the "Open Stream" option, but I just get a pop up box labeled "URL" that is empty. I have Home Sharing turned on and File Sharing turned on, but I am not seeing the receiver in my Finder window or as a iTunes device.
I would appreciate any and all advice and assistance.
    Thanks so much.
    Dan

So I have been searching the iStore for Airplay and I find lots of information about what it is, but nothing about how much it costs, how/where to buy it, etc.?
Fortunately, AirPlay does not cost anything as it is a streaming protocol used by Apple. Currently, the AirPort Express and Apple TV are AirPlay-ready. A number of other companies, like JBL, iHome, Denon and Klipsch are also rumored to be working on AirPlay versions of their products.
Your other option would be to get an AirPort Express and connect it to your Onkyo analog or optical digital audio input and stream from iTunes that way. I currently do this with my 10+ year old Harmon Kardon HT receiver.
