Audio sync / no audio in sequence

Hi. I am experience a very annoying issue with Adobe Premiere Pro CS 5.0.3.
When I import a video in the timeline, sometimes the audio is out of sync and sometimes de audio is OK in one part but mute on another part of the same clip.
When I checked the raw MPEG file, is perfect. I can hear all perfectly with Windows Media or other player.
In 90% of the material -even in the same project - there is no problem, but in some this problems appears. I read a lot about audio problems with PR but cannot find a solution.  My footage is always HDV 50i.
In the meatime, I am exporting the audio in wav with another program and importing it separetely in PR, but this is nonsense!!!

Along with Kevin's linked Adobe KB article, see this ARTICLE, on Conforming and Indexing of files. If one interrupts the Conforming process, they can get Imports with zero Audio, or truncated, partial Audio.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Flash audio out of sync even as image sequence in Premeire Pro

I'm using Flash CS4 to animate hi-def music videos. It seems that I can't keep the audio to stay in sync for anything over 2 or 3 minutes.
    - I'm working a stage at 1280x720 and 30 fps
    - audio is streamed on a separate layer
    - mp3 publish settings are: stereo 128kbs
Inside the FLA file everything syncs perfect, but when it's published, everything drifts in the SWF and in everything else I've tried.
I've tried exporting image sequences and popping the sequences into premiere pro to match up with the original wave, and i've also put the swf file in a premiere pro project as well. Whether a SWF or an image sequence, it always lapses after 2 or 3 minutes.
I've asked the adobe portal folks and they sent me a link to a "dreamweaver" article...so my regard for their capicity is not high.
Anyone have any ideas? or am I doomed to never animate anything longer than 2 minutes in Flash?
The topper of it all is, I've used a friend's REAL OLD Flash MX and have not   had any problems.

no actually all the animation is smooth and plays fine. but in files longer than 2 or 3 minutes the action starts to happen later and later and later until i'm seeing the animation full seconds after the matching sound. this happens when source wavs are matched to published files inside premeire pro too. it doesn't matter the format...swf / mp4 / flv / mov...any encoding of the video matched to the source wav is the same result as the published swf.
it's as if there are more frames in the publish than in the FLA. i guess i could compare and contrast by doing some math and creating some traditional x-sheets and completely disregard the reference streaming audio in the FLA...but that would be a ton of work and disregard the convenience the technology is intended to provide. i guess i'll just continue editing together a bunch 1-2 minute publishes until i give adobe even more money in october...boo hiss.
thanks for your vigilance! i might just be out of luck

  • Premiere will not play back audio in sequence

I am using Premiere CC to edit Pro Res 422 in a sequence using the ARRI Cinema 23.976 sequence preset.  My rough cut sequence has lost all audio playback.  I can play audio from the source, and in other sequences in the same project but this sequence specifically is not giving my ANY playback.  In audio hardware, I have set output to built-in output and made sure that my system is set to the same thing as well.  When I click into channel properties, right click>Modify Channel I see 4 audio tracks set to Source Channel 1, 2, 3, 4.  All are set as "Ch.1" under Channel in track.

I do not think this is the case.  At the very end of the timeline the audio starts playing on the last few clips.  I am checking auto-saves as well and it seems like each one has a point where audio randomly cuts off.

  • Dropped audio when sequence rendered to self contained quicktime movie

last week i rendered my project to quicktime movie file and all was fine --today --after having done some minor tweeking of the project a clip is missing audio when i send project to quicktime--i've tried rebuilding the troublesome clip--the clip has a segment of audio with one segment that is linked to it and 2 other clips that xdissolve before and after the linked items --total duration about 30 seconds---i've checked audio on and made sure there are no track volume adjusters turned down---is this an fce hd problem or quicktime and might the sequence be corrupt?--i'm at a loss with this one? any ideas folks?

Try Mixing Down the audio just before you export.

  • How to add audio to sequence of slides, not whole presentation nor individual slide?

I want to add an audio track which will play during a sequence of slides in Keynote, but I can only find how to add to a single slide or add to whole presentation.

  • What is the 24fps Audio/Video Sequence Presets setting for?

I don't understand what happens when I change the Audio/Video Settings > Sequence Presents to DV NTSC 48kHz -24. I would think this would make my sequences 24fps. But when I import anything into a sequence (I'm mostly importing still images) they still show 30fps. What happens when I change this setting to 24?
I want to export my sequences at 24fps Targa to output to film and don't want any frame blending -- I just want a one-to-one frame correspondence.
Am I doing something wrong? Is this the way to go?

Actually never mind, it seems to be displaying at 24fps now. Not sure what was happening before.
    Sorry for the mis-post.

  • Playback of audio files/sequences????

is it possible to have Mainstage playback audio tracks??? I need to create a setup for vocal input over a prerecorded mp3 or wav/AIF file. I saw somewhere on here that MainStage could trigger iTunes tracks but there was no how to posted.
    thanks

the only thing i saw in the manual was a paragraph concerning general apple scripts. Im looking to creat buttons that trigger specific tracks in itunes, not jst go to a playlist. I want to avoid leaving MainStage and having to switch to itunes during a performance.
    Thanks!!!

  • No Audio, No Sequence Presets!!!

I recently updated to CS6 Master Collection.I have two major problems,
1: No audio when i import clip to the timeline.(importing with full folder structure)
2: There is no Presets on the premiere seq menue.....
    iam using MASTER COLLECTION CS6
I also upated the premiere but no help.

    Ann,
I dont know what i did but it seems to work now.
I was going shoot my self literly coz of this problem, B'coz i never stuck for long time in any bug like CS6 audio and presets missing bug......So it sorted it out itself i just shutdowned the system last night and went out.
And 2day i just turned on the "torcher machine" and loaded PR, all the presest are available audio is fine i dont know what happend i really dont.
But my sixth sense says its gotta do sumthing with activating it properly.

  • No audio in sequence but in source screen

I imported Go pro footage and soudn works in source screen and program but does not play in the sequennce. It doesnt even show the audio file there. It's never done this before & I already re started computer and program. No luck.

Patch A1 in the Audio Header

  • Out of Sync when importing rendered sequence

This is the first time I've had this happen and haven't been able to solve the problem yet and haven't found any solutions yet through searching. Using CS5.5, I'm building a show consisting of 7 or 8 already rendered sequences. All seem fine when put together, but one sequence is thrown way out of sync when I import it. The file plays fine otherwise and it isn't until it's imported into premiere that the problem occurs. I've tried re-rendering several times and get the same out of sync problems. And it eventually gets wildly out of sync, not just a few seconds. The properties of the clip are:
    Type: MPEG Movie
    File Size: 1.5 GB
    Image Size: 1920 x 820
    Frame Rate: 23.976
Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - compressed - Stereo
Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
    Total Duration: 00:04:23:09
Average Data Rate: 6.0 MB / second
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0
This is the same as all the other rendered/imported sequences. I'm at a loss here. Is there anyone who can help steer me to solving this?

    Welcome to the forum.
Just so that everyone is on the same page, when you say "rendered," is it safe to assume that you mean that that file was Exported, and then is being Imported into a new Project?
    Good luck,

  • Sync clip timeline and sequence timeline?

    Hi guys,
         Dumb question, but here goes...
Can you sync the clip timeline and sequence timeline when you scrub?  I want to see the 'edit points' that are in the sequence and sync that to the location in the clip (left window) timeline.
    Thanks for the help.
    Jason

You can  GANG  the Source and the Program Monitors.  That should do what you want.

  • Giving my wife my 3G and activating/syncing my new 3GS - sequence questions

I would like help understanding the proper sequence of actions i need to do to successfully pull this off. Here's what my goals are:
I want to give my current 3G, which is synced to my iTunes, to my wife with a blank slate. She has a seperate iTunes account and would like to take the empty 3G and sync it with her account.
Of course, i also need to transfer all the contents of the 3G to my new 3GS before i do this. Then i want to sync up my new 3GS to my iTunes and....well, you get the picture.
I am confused and anxious about getting all this right...authorizing, de-authorizing, restoring, syncing, etc. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    Ok, here you go...
First, ensure you have a good backup of your 3G on your iTunes account. Next, sync your new 3GS and when it connects you'll be asked to add a new phone or restore to a previous backup... choose your 3G backup and wait for the restore to complete. Once completed you'll then need to re-sync all your content (music, videos, audiobooks, apps, etc) to the new phone. Once all that is done your 3GS should look just like to 3G did and all your settings, texts, etc. should be intact.
Then wipe the 3G by going to Settings-General-Reset-Erase All Content and Settings. Once this is complete the phone will be ready for syncing with your wife's iTunes account on her PC.
BTW, this is exactly what I did since I gave my former 3G to my wife who has her own PC and iTunes account. It all worked flawlessly.

  • Audio not in sync after encoding to H.264 Blu ray

I have recently been trying to author my first blu-ray and keep running into new problems everytime I think I find a new solution. My new problem is that when I encode my sequence from Ppro CC to H.264 Blu-ray and place the video file and audio file into Encore CS6 the audio seems to be falling out of sync. I tried placing both files into a new PPro sequence and checked the playback and they are also out of sync there.
    Things I've tried:
    1) I went back and just encoded the audio from the sequence but this time I switched the audio coding to DD 320 bitrate instead of PCM. When I placed this file into the PPro sequence the playback was perfect. However, when I try placing the same two files (video and audio) into Encore they are out of sync.
    2) I decided to take the encoded video file and place it back into the original PPro sequence and use it to replace the original video track. The playback again fell out of sync. Since this sequence had the original pre-encoded audio track, I came to the conclusion that it is actually the video that is not keeping up with the audio once encoded.
I am trying to encode to 1920x1080 HD 23.967 fps H.264 Blu Ray. I know I can just encoded to .avi match source and then let Encore do the transcoding, but figuring out this problem is a learning experience for me. Does PCM or Dolby Digital make a difference? What is the best way to do?

It sounds like things went wonky the first time around.  Try exporing the whole thing again.
PCM is higher quality.  Blu-rays have a lot of room compared to DVD, so I feel it's often the better choice.  I'd recommend using DD only when you have to.  But considering that I've put 3 hours of HD onto disk and still only filled 17GB, I think it's the very rare occasion when you'll run out of room and have to use DD on Blu-ray.

  • Audio sync drifts w quicktime or mpeg-2 ac3 in quicktime or dvd studio pro

Sorry to post twice but question wasn't asked right so I posted again with the subject correct as I didn't know how to delete other that said audio drifted opening in compressor which isn't the case this is about audio drifting that is perfect in a final cut pro sequence, perfect when I look at a self contained quicktime made, but when I import into dvd studio pro even before making a dvd and just looking at the video and sound in tracks as assets, it's already drifting, and is still the same if I make a dvd:
    This is very perplexing.
My audio is spot on for sync in final cut sequences.
When I make a quicktime self contained and open it in final cut it is also perfect.
If I open that same finished self contained file in quicktime or place it in dvdstudio pro, there's what looks like moments the picture is faster than the sound but not always....it is not a lot like maybe 5 frames or so sometimes worse at times...this project is 90 minutes...it occurs in and out throughout not just at the top or the end.
This is the same both for the quicktime self contained with its aiff files and the mpeg with ac3 files the same amount of drift I can see when dropped into dvdstudio pro in the same places it appears...I checked the source audio files and don't see a difference
sound is mostly source 16 bit, there are music parts that were originally 24 but this isn't necessarily where this drift occurs it occurs in places where it's just dialogue.
Compressor version is 3.05 final cut studio 2 with latest updates

I opened two files they do the same things when they go into studio pro
    the quicktime file
    fps 23.98
    rate 24.55 mbits/s
    size 720x480
    actual the same
    playing fps (available while playing)
    the mpeg 2:
    720x404
    fps 23.98
    data size 3.85
    rate 6191.42kbits/s
this is just the quicktime self contained file as I said if I open it in final cut it's right in sync, in quicktime I see the same drift as when I open this in dvd studio pro the same as with the mpeg 2 file I make in compressor...
the pixel discrepancy for whatever it means this is an anamorphic rendering in the nest just so you're aware

  • Audio Out of Sync - Why and How to Correct

I nested two 90 minute clips from 2 separate cameras which were both shot in AVCHD. I am using Premiere CS 5.5 . As a former FCP editor, whenever audio went out of sync, a message in FCP came up immediately and told you the audio was out of sync and it was an easy fix. How come Premiere is minus such an important feature?
I shoot stage productions where there may be music but no dialogue so chercking sync becomes rather difficult. After finishing a 2 hour video, I found the audio was out of sync in the nested sequences. Is there any way to auto resync the audio automatically?
Seems to me that Premiere Pro is a sub Pro App if simple audio sync is so hard to maintain in nested sequences. Makes nesting a sequence a waste of time if you have to redo the edit as a reslut of audio out of sync.

    Hello Everyone,
Has anyone found a solution to this BUG?
This happens to me all the time with Adobe Premier CS6.
It is an obvious Software BUG that needs to be corrected. I am a TV show editor.
I have had this happen to me 4 different times. You don't have to do anything special. The video with sound runs perfectly with any other product on your computer..but goes out of sync in Premier. I have tried cleaning up the Media Cache .cfa and .pek waveforms. No joy. I have tried relinking the media. No joy. I have tried moving the project and renaming and relinking. No joy. Rendering No joy. Setting the media cache to local area. No joy.
If this had happened to me just once, I would say, I have done something wrong. It has happened now in 4 different projects on four different shows. I have produced and released over 100 shows to TV.
I have checked everything, I have reloaded footage off camera. I have checked and bought new cables. I have checked codecs, frame rates, loaded into other products. All fine. I just wish Adobe engineers would do this same type of debugging of their software.
I use to work for Hewlett Packard Software division.  We were taught to alfa test, beta test and not release until bug rates
were at certain levels. Some bugs just have get through or you never get to release. But this bug really hits your productivity in a major way. You have to resync BY HAND each cut... all your sound after hours and days and weeks of getting it perfect. Then in a split second. FFFFDDDDDDDDD
I have been editing with Premier for 6 years.... It only seems to be since I have upgraded to CS6.  And I have to re-link by hand to correct the problem.  I sync on electronic clapper board number and sound - almost impossibe not to sync. I will be working away happily, cut out some footage go to my next grab..BANG out of sync. That simple.
All I know is that it happens and for ADOBE to really be a true professional editing suite in the the TV/Movie world.... This is just not on. By any chance have they released a patch or bug fix to repair this. I have spent over 3 weeks edting a television show again .......needing to go to air in less than three weeks and all of a sudden between one cut and delete.. the sound is out of sync across the whole interview. JUST NOT ON. I have spent 4 hours now..none productive hours trying to resync the sound, find solutions on the website via forums. Some ideas have been really good and I have tried them. None have worked. Still unsynced. Almost completed show I now have to re-sync by hand. At this point, I am thinking FCP is looking good. I cannot stand this loss of productivity and time.
This is not the only forum complaining about this..that should tell you something.
