Audio tab in iWeb shows no audio files

I'm using iWeb 3.0.4 I wanted to add some audio content to a page but the Audio Tab shows no music to pick from. I thought it comes from my iTunes library.
The Photos and Widgets Tabs seem to work.
Any suggestions?

You can get the files from Home folder/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music
Note that dragging audio files from iTunes can cause problems with the files not loading on the web page.
Its better to bring them in from the Finder and better still to upload them to the server and use an alternative player...

How do I add Core Audio files from my HD to the search tab?

Hello there,
I'm trying to add a few core audio files from my hard drive the sound effects library in Sound track. I assumed if I just coppied and pasted the CAF files in the ambience folder that is in the ilife sound effects folder in my library that the files would automaticaly show up in the search tab in soundtrack. this is not the case.
Can anybody help me?

iTunes/iPod does not provide a way of copying tracks from an iPod to iTunes except for purchased music. But iTunes can play MP3 files without conversion.
Here are some ways of getting files from an iPod to your PC:
Copy from iPod to PC
It is important not to allow your iPod to sync with an empty library. If it is set to synchronise automatically you will get a message saying your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to sync – it is important to press cancel as syncing with an empty library erases all music from your iPod.
You can also prevent auto sync by holding down shift & ctrl as you plug in your iPod and keeping the keys held down until the iPod appears in iTunes.
Once you are connected, you need to set your iPod to manage music manually.

If you have an iPod with iTunes Store purchases on it, you can use it to copy your purchases to other authorized computers.

S.O.S. Audio files not showing up in Podcast

OK, here's the deal. After I submit new audio files for inclusion in my podcast at iTunes, the new files show up in the xml file, but not in the Podcast. I use a third party application (Podcast Maker). Does Apple provide a native way of adding audio files to podcasts? I need to get this fixed fast. Thanks!

Audio files suddenly showing up as "Other" after connecting to iTunes

This is the second time this has happened, and I'm hoping there's a better fix than restoring the whole phone.
I have a 3G iPhone with 3.0 software. I plugged in the iPhone to charge using the usb cable, and when clicking on the device in iTunes, the Capacity bar shows all of my audio files as "other" 7.59 gb worth of files. I tried syncing, but I manually manage my music & videos. I can try to readd the files, but there's still the 7.59gb of other files taking up space. If I check audio files on the phone itself, it says there are none.
I have no idea why this happens - as I mentioned this is the second time it's done it, and I'm frustrated.
Any ideas?

This is a symptom of an interrupted sync. The only fix is to Restore the phone with iTunes.

PSE 9 Organizer error codec trying to add an Elements audio file to slide show

I am using PSE 9 to build a slide show. When I add audio, I can use mp3's from my music library in the slide show without any issues ...
but I am getting the following error when I try to add an Elements audio file (example " A _Taste_Of_Sicily.mp3)
This is the Organizer error message:
"Unable to add the audio file (C:\ProgramData\Adobe\ElementsOrganizer\8.0\Music\A_Taste_Of_Sicily.mp3).
The selected file cannot be played because your system does not have the required compresser/decompresser(codec) installed."
I had PSE 8 and upgraded to PSE 9 - I noticed the error file detail shows 8.0 - Is this my problem - maybe an incomplete upgrade ? (I've made several slideshows mixing photos and music, on an older computer using PSE 8 and never ran into this issue.)
Below is my system info in case that helps:

Does that file extension really have a space in it? If so, remove the space.

The important thing is not to put the audio files directly into iWeb: if you do that then every time iWeb decides it needs to upload the entire site you will find yourself uploading all 15GB of audio files, which won't make you happy. Start by uploading the files to the server - in folders as suits you - and then link to them in iWeb.
If you want them to download rather than play, you may be able to set up an .'htaccess' file in the folder which will force a download - it depends on whether your hosting service will allow this. The method is described here:

Here is an example of a simple link which produces a download (without the process described the audio file would play in the browser in a blank page):

Then all you need to do is to provide a link, designed however suits you, in your iWeb page. If your server won't allow the .htaccess file then you will have to ask visitors to control-click (Mac) or right-click (Windows) on the link and choose 'Download linked file' or equivalent - not so convenient; or otherwise zip the files first, which won't much reduce their size but will force a download (and of course the recipients will have to unzip them).
If you want the files to play in a player in the page, you can use an html snippet to provide a player as described in this page (you will also need to upload a script to the webspace - this is provided in the page):

IWeb and MP3 or audio files

Just got a Mac and looking at the information for iWeb, it talks about text and video, but nothing about audio files, like MP3.
I assume I can upload MP3 files (my own) using iWeb, but just wanted to confirm that before I purchased it. I have my own web page now and would like to redo it with iWeb, but obviously I want to include my original MP3 files in the web page for others to hear and download.

iWeb writes page code that will play your MP3 files using the QuickTime browser plug-in.
If you need to use another plug-in or player you'll need to use the special "snippet" code feature.

Why can't I see my audio files in iWeb?

When I open iWeb/iPhoto/Keynote etc I can't see Audio files to add them in. I can access photos and movies but not audio files. I can't even access Garageband files! Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is and how I can fix it???

Is it possible that you have Garageband and/or iTunes in a sub folder rather than in the main applications folder where they need to be so that they are available in the Media Browser and can be found by Software Update?

AAC is Advanced Audio Coding. Basically it's a format that sounds better than MP3 but doesn't take up as much space as a lossless format (like you'd have on a CD). More than likely you've had that encoding turned on when you ripped your music into itunes (it's the default encoder). Therefore your LG phone won't play them.
You need to turn off the AAC format by going to the iTunes menu, Preferences, General (at the top), then clicking the "Import Preferences" button. Change the AAC Encoder to MP3 Encoder. After that you'll have to make MP3 copies of your songs by right clicking them and selecting "Create MP3 Version." You'll get a copy of the song that should transfer to your SD card and have MP3 encoding. Hopefully your phone will play that.

Importing .wpl audio files for slide show in Elements 4.0

Once again I have to prevail on my fellow Photoshop users' expertise. Help! I am trying to import music files from a playlist in Media Player (Microsoft Home XP) into a slide show in Photoshop 4.0. I get error message "Cannot open file because it is the wrong type of file." (The files turns out to have .wpl extension. Have tried to move the files from Media Player first to "My Documents," then open them in Organizer or Editor, but get the same error message. (Have moved similar files successfully into SONY Vegas video editor all along.) Is there any way to convert the audio files to the format suitable for Photoshop (.wav or .wma)?

I think that sunny_afternoons.mp3 is one of the MP3s that comes with Photoshop Elements. In order to see that audio file within the PSE Organizer, you may need to change the View menu settings for media so you see the Audio files. (You can temporarily set it to display only Audio files to make them easier to locate. However, it is important that you then set it back to your normal options to display Photos etc - otherwise next time you use PSE you will wonder - What Happened to my photos?)
Once you find that mp3 file, right click on it in the Organizer and see if the Organizer can play it. If the Organizer can't play it then generally the slide show can not either. However, playing in the Organizer does help analyze problems but it is not a guarantee that the slide show will be OK. You might also check what is the default player software on your system for mp3's.
Other than that - I don't think I have any additional ideas. Since you are attempting to run in an environment for which Adobe offered no support and no statement that it would work, you might just have to try to debug your system on your own.

Where are you hosting the site, how are you uploading the files and what's the URL of your site so we can examine it first hand?
Adding audio files by dragging onto the web page forces the viewer to have Quicktime installed on their computer in order to be able to listen to them. Look at the audio player options on this page of Roddy's iWeb for Musicians site: Audio Players for your Music Website.

Where can I READ how to combine an audio file with a slide show

I need to make a dias show running with some speech/audio file beneath - so that I get an avi file or whatever to present on the internet.
But no matter where I turn, I find video after video - and I am not so stupid, that I cannot read a text.
So can someone tell me where I can find a TEXT manual, describing how I do that?

Are you in Premiere Elements Editor? I'm seeing in PSE Organizer and can't see that "Drop files here" text anywhere.
This is how Slideshow dialog looks in PSE11 Organizer. You can rearrange the images by clicking on "Quick reorder"button or by dragging thumbnails on the thumbnail strip you see at the bottom.
Let me know if you are facing any issues with this dialog

Recording Audio from additional sources: Why doesn't the "Audio File" show

Hi, when recording audio from another source and saving: where does logic store the file? Shouldn't it be in the "audio' folder or the set path you set it to>?
For some reason after we record the "Audio File" we recorded is not to be found in the "Audio" folder we created within our project?

Can you define "from another source". I'll assume for now, you mean, from an external live source, like a vocal, or guitar.
Yes, if you had saved the song using the "Save As Project" command, the audio path to that songs audio folder should have been set. and all audio files recorded into that song would reside in that location.
The only thing that you might want to check, is hit "A" with the song open, and make sure "choose path" is set to "Song Recording Path" and not "Global Recording Path".
