Audio Track Issue

Hi All,
I have my audio track playing on 1, and I want to play another audio on track 2 but my track 2 is controlling from track 1, also the same issue 3 and 4. anyone know how to fix?

Logic can either be in "Universal Track Mode" or not. If I'm remembering which is which, you are not.
In Universal Track Mode, any track can be mono or stereo. You switch it by clicking on a little circle (or double circle) on the lower left of the audio object fader.
In the normal mode (which I prefer but I always have trouble remembering why), to record or play stereo audio tracks you must click that circle on an ODD numbered track. Then it will "enslave" the next higher number even numbered track. You put you stereo track on the odd numbered track and ignore the even numbered track.
So: If you are trying to play 2 interleaved stereo recordings, put one on track 1 and the other on track 3 -- they are already set up for stereo.
If you are using mono recordings, click the double circle on track 1 and it will free track 2. put one mono recording on track 1 and the other on track 2.
Hope that made sense.

  • Separated audio tracks issues between FCP5 and 4.5

    Hi guys,
Just have a little issue here:
We are shooting some sports stuff and because we need to do some news cssetts every evening we are working two people on the images.
We have two computers with the following configuration:
    Comp. 1
    Panter 10.4.1
    FCP HD (5.0.1)
    Comp. 2
    Tiger 10.3.9
    FCP 4.5 HD
The issue is that the QT files resulting from the capture on Comp. 1 don't show 2 audio channels on Comp. 1.
They show only a Mono downmix from the two channels with no workout possibility.
On the other hand if we open the same files on comp. 1 (in FCP 5) we do see and control the two channels in separate.
    Any ideas??
    Cheers

I'm probably the last person to ask about this since I'm NOT an early adopter of upgrqades. Heck, I'm still on FCP 4.5 / OS 10.3 / QT 6.5.1, but I do read the forums regularly.
The general impression that I get from reading the posts is that while FCP 4.5 will work on Tiger, you'd probably have fewer chances of problems if you upgrade to FCP 5. And don't use media captured with FCP 5/QT 7 in projects under FCP 4.5 (using one computer/software combo for capturing and the other computer/software combo for editing). That seems to be where the audio track problem crops up. If both the G4 and G5 systems were running identical software (OS/QT/FCP) then it shouldn't be an issue.

  • Importing audio tracks issue (Logic Pro 8.0.2 - Snow Leopard 10.6.0)

This is a strange one that i've only just noticed since installing Snow Leopard:
In Logic when looking for audio tracks via the media browser, I select a file and drag and drop it into a project. The file plays back in the project as expected, but...
A copy of the file is then placed in the location where i've just dragged the file from???
    For example:
I navigate to a track within an album in my iTunes folder (stored on an external drive) and drag the track into an open Logic project. Once imported there is a duplicate of the imported file placed within the album folder. I'm pretty sure this wasn't the behaviour before upgrading.
There are a few weird things happening with this:
If I import a .mp3 file, a .aif file is placed within the album.
If I import a .m4a file, a .ovw file is placed within the album.
Sometimes it shows the copy of the track in the browser and sometimes it doesn't. If I navigate to the album location in finder there is a copy of the file located within the album folder.
    Anyone else experiencing this?
    Bryan

Cheers Bee Bee, school boy error on my behalf!
I was chopping up a few tracks to put on the mrs phone as ringtones and hadn't actually saved the session which would explain why a copy would have been put in the original location seen as there was nowhere else for it to go.

  • Audio Tracks issue. Split Tracks not sufficient

I'm editing a live performance.  I THINK I have a lav mic on the speaker on one channel, and a mic on the audience on the other channel though I'm not certain.
I am trying to raise the volume on the audience...to make the applause, laughter bigger.
I see the "light blue" wave forms which makes me think there is more laughter there.  But I can't figure out how to enhance it.
Why does it/audience sound appear as light blue?  Any way to separate that out?
Totally confused.  If you can help you'e my hero!
    Brad

Tom, I'm looking in the ever-so-semi-useful FCP help system, for an explanation of these pale waveforms. I see "reference waveforms" but nothing there connects to what you've said. Anyway, is there a way to boost this low volume clip or, reading between the lines of the post, how does the OP find out if there's any audio there? (Aside from making a test recording and monitoring during the event.)
    Show or hide reference waveforms
A reference waveform shows the maximum visual resolution possible for the actual audio waveform. By factoring out loudness changes, reference waveforms let you see the details of the sound more clearly.
Choose Final Cut Pro > Preferences, and click Editing.
Select the “Show reference waveforms” checkbox.
    https://help.apple.com/finalcutpro/mac/10.1/help/en.lproj/Art/S0701_ClipWaveform .png
When the actual waveform changes shape (for example, when it is diminished because a clip’s volume level is low), its full reference waveform is still visible for easy reference when editing.

  • Audio tracks playing different audio tracks - routing issue?

I'm having trouble with some routing issues I believe. Here's the deal:
Some audio tracks are playing different audio tracks, when that region is not even in it. For instance:
Track #2 is Soloed. Output is Output 1-2. I hear the audio file that is in Track #1, which is NOT Soloed and I shouldn't even hear. I don't hear anything from Track #2. The only way I can hear Track #2 is by playing it from the audio bin, which obviously isn't going to work out right.
If I drag the audio region of Track #2 to a brand new audio track, I still don't hear anything. Is it possible this audio file(s) got corrupted somehow?
    Please help!

Check the parameters, in the left side of the arrange page window.
To me, it sounds as if you have a bunch of arrange tracks, which are all playing back through audio track #1.

  • Apple TV audio/voice track issues

We just started using Netflix with AppleTV.  For several programs we can hear the music track, but the audio track is absent.  Dolby setting is "auto", we've done all updates, restarted, no luck...any suggestions?

Managed to solve this problem myself, it turns out that the files that were causing issues had two audio tracks attached, when the file is loaded i press and hold the middle button to bring up the options, from there press right to the middle tab and change the audio from surround to normal and it plays at normal speed, i have no idea why it was doing this but i can now watch ALL my material finally! hopefully this helps someone else!

  • Issues with 'Mute' in Audio Track

    Hi All
    1. Using Premiere Pro CC (Fully Up to Date)
Was wondering if I could get assistance with what I believe is an issue with the Mute Button in an Audio Track. Firstly my understanding is that, if I use the 'Mute' button either in the Audio Mixer or the icon in the Timeline to mute a clip or track, it is only a temporary action and once you uncheck mute the track reverts back to it state before the Mute.ie normal audio. I have been doing some voice overs directly into the timeline using a USB Microphone / Headset and on those occasions have gone through the steps of Arming, Solo (The Voice Over Track) and then record. I am not sure if this is related but just included to give a background. When checking the levels and doing a bit of fine tuning I find the following issue. As the play head  moves along the timeline if goes into a Mute condition and also appear in the Audio Mixer as Mute. It is though it is seeing a 'key frame' that tells it to mute at that point, hence my earlier question regarding (when Mute, is it temporary). I immediately uncheck Mute but when I recheck over that area of the video it is On/Off On /Off. I have tried to see if there are 'key frames / markers that indicate start and end of "Mute' in that Audio track but no luck.
Am I correct in the assumption that mute is a temporary action and should not be a permanent action at that point, or have I done something to create this issue.
    Thanks for any advise.

I just read some related threads and I am beginning to suspect the action of the 'Solo' function could be causing the issue. I can not say for certain but I did some other VO in another sequence in the same project and only used the 'Mute" in the other tracks, not using  Solo didn't seem to have this issue. Then I did a bit of reading in an earlier CS3 manual that advised using 'Solo' now I seem to have this issue. I totally agree have tried different audio, removing area of offending audio but still comes back??????

  • OMF CS4 issue - Seperate audio tracks output as identical files on Pro Tools import

OMF issue - seperate audio tracks outputs as identical files
I am having some serious trouble when trying to export an OMF from a p2 DVCPROHD 720p50 project in CS4, and importing it in Pro Tools. The project is complex with over 12 hours of HD-footage and many sequences and titles.
When exporting an OMF from a thirty minute sequence to work with the audio in Pro Tools, all four tracks turn out identically in Pro Tools on import. However, the tracks are different in the Premiere Pro CS4 timeline.
We have tried both encapsulated and separate audio, we have tried importing the timeline/sequence into a new premiere project and exporting an OMF from the new project with no success. However, when we started a new project and simply imported one of our p2-files, and exported an omf, it worked fine, with 4 different audio tracks in Pro Tools.
We also tried exporting 4 different OMF-files (one for each track), while having deleted all the other tracks. This remarkably also resulted in four identical tracks in Pro Tools!
The OMF does not exceed the 2GB limitation.
Can anyone help us? Have a project due on Monday, and need to start working on the audio ASAP.
    FMP10SH

The "Source Channel Mapping - Default Track Format:" is set to "Use File". We recorded with a Panasonic HPX301 camera, which has three XLR-inputs, and we used all of them. So two of the tracks are identical recordings (from one of the XLR-inputs), while the two remaining are different, so in total there are three different tracks of oudio, all mono.
When we put a p2-file into a sequence it has four tracks of audio linked to it, with the corresponding sound. So everything seems to be in order in Premiere, but for some reason they end up being four identical tracks in Pro Tools. As mentioned we tried making a new project with the same settings as in the project we are currently working, and we imported a single p2 clip. We exported a sequence with this clip as an omf with all the same settings, and this time it worked. The four tracks were different in Pro Tools when the OMF was imported. So it seems that the complexity of our project, or some setting that we are not aware of but have been altered by a mistake has made this project impossible to export correctly as an omf.
But if there are any solutions to this we would be deeply grateful!
    thnx

  • Audio track panning issue

I seem to be having an issue with certain projects that when adding vocals the there is only sound to the right speaker.
I tried reconnecting my Mic Set up incase it was that.  This has happened before and it seems to occur when I used the ES2,
its like the more production I do on a song the more likely this is to happen.
Its clear from the Audio clip (below) that the wave forms are all only evident on the upper part, below is blank.
Il attach a screen shot so maybe you can tell from that where Im going wrong.
Thanks guys, any help is really appreciated!!

Hey,  Ive tried testing the levels and your right it is only showing activity on one side.  Im really poor at the technical side of things and particularly inputs, stereo etc so Im really lost. I just presumed I should always select stereo when creating an audio track for vocals, clearly thats not always right?? I mean as far as Im aware I always select Stereo on audio tracks for vocals but dont always have this issue.
So Ive created an audio track now, as mono and that seems to be working fine. Sorry about my ignorance on this, I appreciate your help. I guess those vocal takes will have to be re-done as they cannot be fixed, its only a new project so I dont mind. What you've thought me here is really helpful mate

  • I can't get the audio Playhead menu to appear so I can trim an audio segment in a secondary audio track.  I see others are having Trimming Issues, but I can't even get the menu to appear.....

I need to trim off the front and back of audio segments (pulling from iTunes)
The instructions seems quite clear on how to do this, but the Playhead Control does not appear when selecting and item in the secondary audio track.  It seems pretty basic, but how do I even get the Playhead to appear?
I'm in hurry to finish a slideshow for a wedding (why I bought it to begin with) - any help will be appreciated.

That's the for the secondary track.  But how do I trim the primary audio song from itunes.  I did find a work around.
    select  the song in itunes.
command + I to get the information screen.
Under one of the tabs there is a "start" and "end" timer.  Trial and error will put allow you to start and stop at the time specifed.
I renamed it " trimmed" so I knew it was a timmed version...then I inserted it into aperture the normal way...
    A pain, but it works...

  • Issues with multiple audio tracks

Hello everyone. I need some help with my DVD Reel. … Please
I have a DVDSP project that I’ve been using and updating for the last year. It contains over 100 small 4-minute clips (Mpeg-2 Video + AC3 Audio) plus a lot of menus and buttons….
Everything worked nice and perfect… except that I added some surround clips last week (using stories)… so now I have one audio track (A1) with all stereo audio and a second audio track (A2) with my surround audio. Again, no problems until today when I used the same track to add a new clip with stereo audio only (A1)…. And it doesn’t want to playback on DVD Player (but it plays in the simulator)…
…. Now here is the question. Does the additional (surround) audio track have anything to do with this problem or is there any other reason why the stereo clip didn’t want to play after the surround clip? … or Do I need to create stories for my stereo clips from now on?
Some more information: I’m using Final Cut Pro and Compressor to crate my media… Intel Mac OS X… DVD Studio Pro Version 4.1.2.
    Thanks for your help

Got an almost kind of (but not really) similar problem. I have videos with multiple audio (AAC and AC3 passthru) in an m4v file. the AAC is always defaulted with the "enable" tick in the properties box. I've tried almost everything I can think of to enable the AC3 track by default so that frontrow or QT will play it. but everytime I save (even save-as) it defaults back to the AAC stereo.
Any ideas? is this a "feature" of 7.5.5?

  • Quicktime Pro Export Issue (No Audio Track)

    Hello,
After I purchased and installed the MPEG-2 component into Quicktime Pro 7, all of a sudden when I export from one video file format (.MP4) into another (.MOV), there is no audio track exported into the .mov created.
I should add that I installed the MPEG-2 component to view a TIVO-to-go recording that I had been able to strip out of the .tivo shell. Once I played the .mpg file though, no audio track played either. Thoughts? Is there a way to uninstall the MPEG-2 component from Quicktime Pro?
    Thanks,

  • Multiclip - mutliple audio tracks

This question has been asked before, but I'll reiterate it. If the support doesn't exist, hopefully apple dev will take it into consideration.
I shoot a lot of weddings and events. FCP's 5.0.x multiclip feature has been a lifesaver. I know the short answer to the following question is "get a mixer and do it in the field right the first time," which I'm working on. BUT, in the meanwhile...
Setup: 3-camera live shoots. We run three different mics: one cam has a wireless lapel mic on the groom; another has a wireless with a directional mic placed at readers' podium/spot; last is an on-camera mic.
Throughout the event the different mics are better for different sound: lapel mic for vows, directional mic for speakers, on-camera mic for organ and songs.
My FCP workflow so far has been this (and it could be the problem): export audio to .aiff, tweak it in STP, bring back into FCP, and link it with clip.
Here's the issue (finally!): Whenever I make these clips a "multiclip," the audio tracks (six in this case) are all automatically mixed together into two tracks in the multi-clip. All my hard work tweaking sound in STP is lost. (Again, might be a workflow issue.)
Does anyone know how to import the audio tracks, while still linked to the video, into a multiclip (and avoid manual synching in FCP timeline)?
I know one solution is to bring the separate audio files in and synch them manually in the timeline. But here's hoping someone can suggest something a bit less time-consuming...
    Thanks for any help!

    Thanks for the reply.
Yes, the audio is set up with six total audio tracks (two per video feed). I'm viewing the clips with "Video & Audio" selected as you described.
I'm synching clips I've cleaned up in STP manually ... but that's not the issue.
    Here's the issue:
    Pre multiclip files:
    V1 - A1, A2
    V2 - A3, A4
    V3 - A5, A6
    --->convert to multiclip<---
    Post multiclip files:
Viewer Window: V1, V2, V3 in multiclip config
Timeline Video: whichever angle I select
    *Timeline Audio* - A1*, A2*
Going to item properties for the audio tracks shows that A1* is comprised of A1, A3, A5 and A2* is comprised of A2, A4, A6. All the original audio tracks are there in the new multclip audio, just mixed together.
I want to know if there's a way to separate those audio tracks in the timeline on the mutliclip. I'd like to work with the separate tracks for the best sound rather than the "mixed" audio that multiclip seems to do automatically.

    Hello All...
Back after a brief absence, things look a little bit different.
I'm trying to take a 16 minute mini dv video and compress it for use on the web. I'm interested in any suggestions you may have on settings for the video and audio tracks. I've tried using Sorenson 3 (15 frames, key frames set to automatic, 320 x 240) for video and IMA 4:1 (mono) for audio. The resulting video looked great but the file size came in at about 255 Mb.

Thank you for the replies.  Everyone was correct about the jack, interface, and phasing problems.  I have been unplugging my motu audio interface and then using headphones at work.  I have not changed any detailed audio output settings in logic.  When I read that the jack might be a problem I tried switching headphones.  This actually helped.  I am using dre-beats headphones and they seem to be having issues with the mac/jack-(the phasing/panning problems.  I can use these headphones with other devices but not the mac.  I have to use ipod ear buds and the phasing seems fixed.  Hopefully this information is helpful to someone else.
If anyone knows how to correct this issue please let me know its difficult to know what my final mixes are going to sound like and I have had to keep bouncing everything into i-tunes- sync to ipod and then listen in my car radio.

  • Audio tracks suddenly missing from capture... need help!

Hi! I have been capturing video (with audio) successfully and routinely for months now. Suddenly, though, when I capture video... from the same device, with the same preset... the clips have only 1 Video track, and no Audio tracks. My camera is still recording audio (and I still hear it during the capture), but the audio tracks just aren't there in the resultant clip. It seems to me like FCE has just decided not to capture audio, as if to say "pffft... we don't need that." But why this happened is beyond me!
Even within this same project, I have other clips captured with audio just fine. I didn't even realize it was an option NOT to capture audio. There aren't any settings to that effect in the Capture window... i.e. there's nothing to turn OFF, so I don't know how to turn it back ON! HELP! How do I get audio back on my captured clips? Is there a way to toggle this? How can I possibly be getting video without audio when the preset has already been working for this device?
Things seemed to change once I started using the Voice Over tool. After that, none of my captured clips have audio. Something I did on or around that time changed FCE internally. I combed through the manual but didn't see any leads. They assume if you have the right preset, it'll just work. No mention of disabling audio.
Please help, because I'm just about ready to throw my Mac throw the wall. I even tried reinstalling FCE, just to get it back to the previous state, but it didn't help.
P.S. I also haven't changed anything on my camera that would affect audio. I feel this is just a setting somewhere in FCE that I can't find and don't even know where to look for it...
    Thanks in advance!!

Hi. Where should I look for them? I haven't had much success finding things on my own, so please spell it out for me.
I just find this so odd... it would be one thing for the tracks to be silent or garbled, then I would think this was a cable issue or the camera. But I can't even imagine why the audio tracks would just not be there. If I saw a preference for "Video Only Capture" somewhere, it would make sense.
Anyway, thanks. Please tell me where there's a prefs file, and I'll roast it.
