Audio tracks hissing when record enable is engaged

Hi guys. I am having a big problem with hissing when record enable is engaged. I've discovered that when I click off software monitoring the hiss goes. But then I cant add effects like reverb for singers who want to record with reverb whilst they're recording. It shouldn't be the case, but any enlightenment and I would be grateful. Thanks.

There are some issues with Audio Hijack app. After updated it, some problems related with Audio System Preferences have gone.

When I record enable a track in logic (using digi core audio) I get a very loud white noise feed back. Muting the track does nothing. I can play out of the digi core audio all day long with other apps as well as logic. the problem is record spicific. Protools works great
I have wiped my computer and installed protools then logic with no luck.

Just to confirm, you have -not- installed the CoreAudio standalone driver -and- the one that installs with ProTools? This can certainly cause problems.

  • Audio tracks missing when doing automate to sequence.

Using PMW200 with 4 audio tracks. When dragging single file to timeline I get the 4 audio tracks. But when I do an automate to sequence, I only get 1 audio track, plus, the default audio transition is not going on.
I have all the tracks highlighted and have ticked apply audio and video transitions.
Any idea where I'm going wrong? Thanks

Hi Kevin.  I uploaded a clip onto you tube for you to try, but you tube mixed the audio tracks so it was useless.
Basically, drag any video clip with 4 audio tracks recorded from camera onto timeline in cs6, and all audio tracks appear on the timeline.  But automate several similar tracks to timeline and only one audio track gets added.  The other 3 do not appear.  Is there a work around for this, rather than dragging all on one at a time.
    Thanks

  • Audio track will not record - picture is fine PE9

PE9 audio track will not record. Tried in several projects - audio gets through to computer - but the audio is not being recorded. Help please.

    Hi ATR
Was transferring a client's DVD-R into my Adobe PE9 to do some editing requested by client.
The audio from the DVD was coming through clearly on my computer speakers but when I finished tranferring I stopped recording and discovered the video track was fine but there was no audio track.
Tried recording said DVD into some of my other files on PE9 but same thing.
Since posting my cry for help I uninstalled PE9 and reinstalled it.
This appears to have fixed the problem as I am now transferring client's DVD-R once again.
A quick check after a few minutes revealed the audio track is now being recorded with no problems!
    Thanks for your interest.
    Kind regards

  • Extra reverb when record enabled

This issue has been with me since audio was first added to logic. When pre-rolling a record enabled audio track (with a bus send sent to an effect) for a punch-in, the reverb level goes way up, forcing me to bypass the reverb before I can record any punch-ins. Any advice?

    Hi,
Your question's a bit confusing, but I think I have a few suggestions and questions: 1st the suggestions:
    1) Watch your routing carefully - inputs, outputs, etc. Check for audio loops that feedback. Make sure your bus output is not feeding your record signal.
    2) set your audio track to play dry OR set it up with plug-ins directly on the track OR send a portion of the audio track to a bus equipped with the plug-in. When you place an effect on a bus track the signal acts differently. When you send signal to a bus for effects it's better just to "siphon(sp.?)" off the audio with the bus sends, try not to use the outputs.
    3) If you need to route many tracks through one output, you can send to one bus, but then send a signal from that bus to another bus with the effect. I find it easier to control that way.
    Questions:
    1) Are you sending the whole bus to an effect?
    2) How exactly is it set up?
    3) What's your audio interface set up?
I really hope that helps. It's hard to visualize what you've got set up.

  • How can I keep one of my audio tracks stationary when syncing multiple tracks?

I am trying to edit a video that has external audio from an H4N recorder and internal audio from 2 Canon DSLRs. The internal audio is just there to help my sync everything and will be muted during output. From the H4N I have one long, continuous recording, but from the cameras I have shorter clips, not all of which happened exactly after the previous one.
Here's the issue I'm having: when I sync the two video clips & the external audio early in the timeline, everything lines up (using the automatic synchronization based on waveform). However, when I am syncing clips later in the timeline, sometimes Premiere chooses to pull the external audio track FORWARD (thus bringing it out of alignment with the earlier video), rather than pushing the video tracks BACK (which is what I need).
Is there some way to tell Premiere which tracks should and should not be moved during sync? If I lock the track, then I cannot use the sync function on it at all. I basically need a way to specify that one track should be used as the "anchor" and that others should be moved forward or backward as needed, without moving the "anchor" track.

Cut up the 4n audio clip and synch it to its respective clips.

  • Reducing hiss when recording vocals

I feel I'm getting too much hiss when I record my live vocals. This is particularly noticeable when I have a meager production (e.g. piano, drum and vocal). I record my piano as a software instrument and use drum loops for the drums. The only real instrument is the vocal. Can anyone give me a tip to reduce the hiss? Using ten noise gate results in other annoying problems (hiss only during the vocal patches or vocals cut off sharply if too much noise gate is applied).

There are several gain stages in recording. Gain on your mac, gain on your interface (channel gain and main gain). Somewhere along the line one of these gains is introducing noise. Be suspicious of any gain turned up over half way.
For my set up I leave the main gain on 1/2 and turn up the channel gain. This gives me less noise than leaving the channel gain on 1/2 and turning up the main gain louder.
Experimentation is the best way to determine the most signal and the least noise.

  • Auto create audio tracks in cycle record Logic X without take folder

    Is this at all possible?
For audio not midi and I don't wan't to replace the audio each time,I would like to cycle record Audio takes and have Logic create a new track every time it loops-Like it was back in the day I think on Logic 7-without packing into a take folder.
I know it might just take getting used to but I cannot stand take folders
Please let me know if this is possible!
    Thanks in advance
    J:-)

Logic does have multi channel record ability, you just record arm the multiple instrument or midi tracks you want, and it'll play/record what ever is armed.
On the record till end of cycle and then move to a new track, I hear you, but you can't do it, logic used to make a new track at the end of a cycle when recording, but nowadays it sticks everything in a stupid take folder and there's no way ( that I've found ) of turning it off. Take folders have their uses, but not for every application.
I can't believe that Apple have have built a loop recorder that'll let you build up multiple parts ( like you're suggesting ) into Mainstage yet they haven't built this into logic. Maybe they will in the future, who knows. I hope so.
So yeah Christian if you want to build up loops as a performance, it's all there in Mainstage. It's called loopback by the way
There's a demo of it here (under live performance)

  • In GB, I need to insert an audio track. When I try, it obliterates part of the adjacent bridge (track). How can I insert an audio track in an audio timeline without stepping all over clean material? Is it possible to recover the "clean" track bridge?

Am doing an audio timeline in GB. Need to insert a corrected section of track. When I try the insert, it knocks out the top part of the adjacent track bridge/element. How can I insert cleanly in a timeline? Is it possible to "recover" the good track that was "stepped on?"

    Undo what?
    Insert in a new track?
I don't think so. I've started an audio book and I'm doing chapter long segments (assuming I can make simple corrections, such as ones made in iMovie and numerous other video editing programs. Routine edits in GB are simple and intuitive. I cannot wrap my mind around the fact that I'm prevented from doing a simple drag and drop, import or paste a two-sentence audio clip. Nor can I find any reference to straightforward audio elements.
Any suggestions you might have would be appreciated.

  • Audio sync lost when recording

I have another problem after the latest update (besides the applescript).
When recording a movie the sync between audio and picture is lost.
    I use a canopus ADVC 110.
Using iMovie still maintains the video audio lock.
This update is just horrible, how could apple release this crap?

    Hi,
    Thanks for your response.
    >1. Does the sync problem aggravates over time or does it remain constant from 3rd min to 30th min?
It aggrevated over time.  You can't really notice it until around 3 minutes into the video.  I watched it again and it looks like it the sync fluctuates slightly. Goes out of sync, gets back in sync (or nearly) and then goes out again.   Listening on headphones I hear tiny, split second drops outs or glitches (related?).
    >2. Did you observe the sync problem in the live stream also?
This time didn't even do a live stream.  Had similar issue two weeks ago that was live stream and file save.  Assumed the issue was due to network issues.
    >3. Can you reduce the file split time to let's say 5 min and reproduce the problem again?
Will be trying this today or tomorrow.
    >4. Which audio device are you using? Is the audio and video device coming from the same device?
It is from the same device (I think.)  I am remotely troubleshooting for someone so I'm not 100%.  It's a Polycom CX5000.  The first one we have.  We previously had a Microsoft Roundtable which is the same device.  The device names come up differently though so that's why I'm not positive.  The Video device is currently listed as Integrated Webcam (which must be correct as I'm getting the right picture).  The audio though lists "Microphone Array (IDT High Def..." something..    That might be the laptop's built in microphone?  If so, that might be the issue.
    >5. If you have a different audio-video devices, please try with them and come back with the result.
    Will let you know.
I'm hoping it is #4 as that would be an easy fix. I would find it hard to believe Adobe released a product that couldn't keep audio and video in sync, right?

  • Logic pro 9,record ready has gone for audio tracks, can't record now.

I upgraded from Logic 8 to logic pro 9 back in october, everything was fine no probs.I have come back to record after a month away & now there is no record ready for audio tracks on any page, they're there for instruments & midi tracks. All else seems fine - just can't record! Also is there any way of getting help from apple, can't see anywhere to contact them without paying!! can anyone help with this?,tis the season of frustration....

You have to select an Input device in the Audio preferences. Since Logic 9 you can assign different devices for In- and Output. So make a selection there and everything will be fine.

  • Audio Tracks Disappear When Zooming on Timeline

It's very strange, but whenever I zoom in on a certain portion of a timeline I'm working on, audio tracks warp, change, duplicate, or disappear altogether. See below for a video:
Does anyone have any idea as to what this could be? Thanks in advance for all and any help!

It's actually a feature film I've been working on for quite a while – most likely several CC versions back, maybe even from CS6 – sorry I can't remember off the top of my head. Could that be what's causing it? Is there any fix? Or do projects that have been upgraded several time throughout CC update history always have this issue?
Thanks in advance for your help!

  • System Overload/Core Audio Error Message when recording/playback

Well ive been experience this problem for a while now but ive read up on it and done some troubleshooting and think i may have found a solution.
Well what happens is ill be recording say one track or 2 tracks in mono or stereo or playing back about 3 or 4 tracks and logic will stop everything and give me an error message which either says system overload or core audio overload or something. Well i figured i was overloading my cpu so what i tried doing was restarting my computer and then only operating logic as the only program. this worked temporarily sometimes but not in the long run. well i did research and came to this.
apparently its too overbearing for my Powerbook processor to record in 24 bit/96 Khz which is kind of a bummer because it was one of my attractions to my i/o box that i could do that. also freezing tracks will help greatly apparently which i have yet to try but hope will work too.
also i recently deleted about half of the stuff on my internal drive and put my 42.41 GB of music onto my external HD so now i have 54.6 GB on my internal HD which holds about 93 GB total. should this help me greatly? or will it only be a minute difference?
well any more solutions/suggestions as to what i can do to better my situation? also am i correct as to why i think i get those error messages.
ps: sorry for the uncapitalization, i got a bit lazy here
    thanks
    -Mike

    Mike,
Bit depth is more important for recording quality than huge sample rates. If you're going to change your settings, I'd stick with 24 bit, but reduce sample rate to 48 kHz.
When you say you've put all your music on the external drive, what exactly do you mean--your Logic files or your mp3/AAC files? Normally you would want to use an external drive to record onto from Logic. That way your internal HD can run the OS and Logic, while the external is free for all the fast recording tasks. (This assumes your external HD is pretty fast, and ideally is firewire.)
Freezing works wonders, too, if you're processing tracks.
