Audio Unit Bridge overlapping Logic.

Hi all,
Sylenth was previously working fine until I installed 9.1.8 update moments ago. My apology if my explaination is rather confusing but this is what I'm currently facing.
I'm on 64bit logic and trying to load Sylenth, this window pops up.
Sylenth eventually shows up after clicking it but logic is now being overlapped by the 32-bit Audio Unit Bridge application, restricting me to audition Sylenth with the Capslock keyboard. Notice that my top status bar (next to Apple Icon) has 32-bit Audio Unit Bridge as active window now? Disallowing me to play the Capslock keyboard.
So, I cannot play Capslock keyboard when I have Sylenth as active window and vice versa. Is there a way I could go around it ?
Thanks a bunch in advance.

As far as I can tell, Sylenth is a 32-bit instrument, not a 64-bit instrument. If you're running Logic in 64-bit mode, the only way you can use Sylenth is via the 32-bit Audio Unit Bridge.
When I run a 32-bit plugin in Logic Pro in 64-bit mode, I can preview instruments with my MIDI keyboard controller, or with the Capslock keyboard in Logic. I don't have Sylenth, or Logic 9.1.8, or Mountain Lion (on purpose!), so I can't duplicate the condition you're reporting (assuming I've understood your post correctly). But with any 32-bit plugin I own and use via the 32-Bit Audio Unit Bridge in Logic Pro running in 64-bit mode, I can use either the MIDI keyboard controller or Logic's Capslock keyboard. I am not restricted to using only the Capslock keyboard, nor does the 32-bit Audio Unit Bridge render the Capslock keyboard non-functional. It works exactly as it should.
It might be that your problem is with Logic 9.1.8. It has known bugs with certain plugins. I was unable to get any of my EastWest Quantum Leap plugins to validate under Logic 9.1.8, and I had to revert to 9.1.7. (I'm running Snow Leopard v10.6.8. and 9.1.7 is extremely stable and reliable in that system.)
If you need to revert to Logic 9.1.7, here's how to do it: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4551179?tstart=0

  • Logic audio unit bridge unresponsive/gui doesn't show up properly

Hi there, having a problem running some 32 bit plugins while running logic in 64 bit mode.
For those who are familiar with the Audio Unit bridge, when clicking on a 32 bit plug-in it brings up this grey window which prompts another click to bring up the interface. When I click on here the GUI appears for a split second then disappears again or sometimes doesn't appear at all. Noteably, the plugins still allow audio through, it is just the interface won't appear.
After a while of having a project open, I have also experienced Logic giving me this message presumably due to the same problem:
It lists all the 32 bit plugins used within the project and says they are unavailable, crossing them out in the logic mixer and removing them from the audio unit manager.
I have tried removing the logic .plist file which allows the loading of the plugins again but not does not solve the problem of the unresponsive GUI.
Really lumbered by this one, any potential resolution much appreciated.
    Thanks
    A

this might be a graphic issue with my 2013 macbook pro retina 2.8gig
i went to preferences and changed the display type... the plugin then shows up. but left in any one of the modes, if i take out the plugin and recall it the same issues remain. Maybe my graphic card is failing

  • 32 bit audio unit bridge unexpectingly quits

I've just updated to Snow Leopard and I've been using Melodyne to fix vocals. When I used Melodyne on the first 3 vocals, everything in Logic was functioning fine but when I try to import the last vocal track into Melodyne, the 32 bit audio unit bridge unexpectingly quits. I've tried quiting and re-opening Logic and the same problem happens at the same spot. On the previous 3 vocal tracks that I fixed with Melodyne, I have already bounced those tracks in place and have got rid of the old tracks. So, the Melodyne plug in is only open on the last vocal track. It seems strange that my Melodyne plug in was working fine with the 32 bit audio unit bridge (as are all of my plug ins) until now.
    Any advice anyone?

If you are running Logic in 64-bit mode with a variety of plugins, you're going to have to realise that things probably won't be stable until updates get released.
The AU bridge is a workaround for the transition period, and one that many third-party developers haven't had much of an opportunity to test with their products, so you may well get funky behaviour in certain things.
If you're really stuck, go back to 32-bit mode for your edits, and it's worth contacting the developer of your plugins to see what they say about AU Bridge and 64-bit compatibility.

oh, well that's simple enough thanks - I have a formac 250 gig external harddrive, which I have only been using to store stuff on. SO what you're saying is (forgive me for being a naive simpleton, we all start somewhere) I should create my music on my mac in Logic and all my saving should be on the external hardrive. Then once I've saved onto the external hardrive I can play back from there? Is that what you mean?
    thanks

    Yes, absolutely.
And, remember to keep 20% of your system hard drive EMPTY. this will help the computer deal with it's own processing.

  • 32-Audio Unit Bridge freezes on first launch

I am running Logic Pro 9.1.6 and MainStage 2.2 on 10.7.2 on a Mac mini server (with server functions off) with 8GB. Both Logic Pro and MainStage are running fine in 32-bit mode. In 64-bit mode, after the initial boot, whichever program I begin with fails to launch the first time. The freeze point is when 32-bit Audio Bridge attempts to launch. The system continues to run fine at this point, just Logic Pro or MainStage won't come up. If I force quit whichever program I initially started, either program will subsequently launch without issue. If I take them back to 32-bit mode, no problem. If I'm willing to do an initial aborted start at startup in 64-bit, no problem. Clearly the issue isn't life threatening! But it's not right. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    LC

  • 32-Bit Audio Unit Bridge quit unexpectedly while using the Kore2 plugin

    Hi,
This is the message I get when closing a project that uses the NI 32bit Kore 2 plugin running 64bit Logic 9.1 - the project does manage to save though. I guess this is the same for everyone - or is it just my machine? Logic hangs afterwards - I have to force quit.
I hadn't given it any thought but I was amazed to note none of the NI stuff is 64bit yet (my NI library is fairly extensive).

    Thanks for that link!
Special notes regarding 64-bit versions of Logic and Mainstage
Native Instruments' products are currently not available in 64-bit AudioUnit format, and are also not fully compatible with the 32-bit "plugin bridge" of the latest Logic and Mainstage versions.
It is therefore recommended for users of NI products to use the 32-bit mode of Logic 9.1 and Mainstage 2.1

  • Why does 32-Bit Audio Unit Bridge keep crashing?

I operate in 64-Bit but still 32-Bit plugins so the 32-bit AU bridge still floats. It will continually quit during a project sometimes twice-a-day... sometimes 5 times in an hour! I try to gauge if it's a particular load being put on the bridge itself but I can't make any sense of it. It definitely quits when it sits idle. I will come back from having made a cup of coffee and it will have quit. It should be sending reports to Apple (I would think) so after around 6 to 8,000 reports from my computer you think Apple would have addressed the bug?

I don't mean to be rude... but that was a stupid reply.
I run in 64-Bit because I can no longer run in 32-Bit. That's how many plugins I'm running at one time, not to mention some of the newer plugins are only 64-Bit. The reason I still use the 32-Bit AU Bridge is because I still use some of the older 32-Bit plugins. Some of them are discontinued/Legacy products that are invaluable to my production arsenal...
Another reason I cannot run 32-Bit is because it crashes upon start-up due to the immense amount of 64-Bit AU plugins initiated.
I don't think I can even say "thanks" for trying to answer my question because I'm embarrassed for you, at your response.
Can anyone else formulate an educated response? I see that no one has correctly answered this question posted several times in the past by others suffering from the same dilema...

  • Audio Unit Problem with Logic Pro and Mainstage

When I go to launch my apps, both Logic Pro and Mainstage get stuck loading an AppleAUspeechsynthesis or something along those lines. It never makes it past there and I either have to force quit or it quits itself. I can press control while launching Logic Pro, but then I only get basic MIDI. I just tried an archive and install and I'm in the process of reinstalling Logic Pro right now. Does anyone know what might be causing this?

I just tried pasting my crash report. It seems like it is too long to post?

  • Logic Pro 7 (7.2.3) Audio Units Manager crashes

Logic Pro 7 (7.2.3) "Audio Units Manager" causes Logic to crash whenever it is selected from the Preferences menu. Most plugins have been wrapped by
FXpansion's VST-AU program successfully, Logic (after much work) finally goes through the validation process on start-up, but I'm unable to see what's happening in the AU Manager. Running Logic on a Mac G4 Dual 1 GHz machine with 1.5 GB of RAM. Any suggestions on what could be causing this problem?

the prob is most likely a bad plug in. some of them don't pass validation, others crash the validation program itself. go to the websites of your plug ins and check you have versions that work with your system version and logic version. make sure you check that the fxpansion wrapper is also current. also, if you happen to have the old logic tuner AU plug in from logic 6, get rid of it. it doesn't validate and the tuner is a built in logic plug in now.

  • Converting vst to audio units

does anyone know how to convert vst's into audio units so that logic pro 9 can recognize them?

    Never tried this one:
    http://www.kvraudio.com/product/vstau-manager-by-sethk
There's also one by FXpansion that's a 'wrapper' for them, used to cost $99

  • Is any Logic 8 (Studio) user able to open STP with audio units plug-ins?

All of my 3rd party audio units plug-ins work with Logic 8: UAD, Powercore, PSP, NomadFactory, and RND.
MainStage and WaveBurner open without any problems.
Soundtrack Pro will only open if all of my AU plug-ins are removed to a "Components (Disabled)" folder.
I tried adding a few AU back into the components folder. Some seem ok, but if STP crashes after more AU's are added, then those that previously passed inspection seem to then cause STP to crash on start up.
I've tried trashing the com.apple.soundtrackpro.plist, EffectsCache.plist with temporary benefit.
I would like to use STP for mastering Logic audio mixes before burning in WaveBurner. Isn't this one of the benefits of purchasing Logic Studio???
    What to do???

    A little patience pays off...
The problem is...the +_*&^%$#@!!! TC PowerCore plugins!!!
And I'm somebody who actually likes them.
After receiving a suggestion that the TC Assimilator in particular might be problematic, I decided to gradually add everything but TC plugs. STP is now well behaved. I tested the waters by adding TC ClassicVerb and MegaVerb. So far...OK. The TC ClassicVerb is one of the best out there besides the $699 TC VSS3.
I can live without the other TC stuff for right now.
Again, I really appreciated the support.
    Best

  • Location of Logic's "In-Built" Audio Units? (Sculpture etc.)

I'd like to be able to use plug-in instruments/fx like Sculpture, Space Designer etc. etc. in Nuendo, without having to resort to rewire.
With the program Plogue Bidule I can insert Au into Vst and vice-versa...
    (and much more...super prog.)
But...uh...where are these Logic "built-in" Audio Units?
Needless to say I have full registered versions of all of these.
They function as plug-ins so they must exist in some self contained format somewhere on the drive.
    Any Suggestions?
    Thanks
    Brutze

This is what I found as well (in response to my post
here), and it's a shame. I'd be happy to have to
have my dongle plugged in if I could use Logic's
effects and synths in external apps.
And a lot of us would be happy if we could have an Mbox plugged in and use RTAS plugins within Logic. And maybe some VST's as well. But that's just not the way it is.
Aside from the hypocracy on Apple's part (they say
AU's are good enough for 3rd party developers)
They are good enough for third party developers. I think you misunderstood what Apple was saying there. A third party developer is anyone willing to create a plugin in the AU format - a third party developer is NOT steinberg. . . and a third party product is NOT cubase/nuendo because it cannot be used in conjunction with Logic. If it can be used in conjuction with Logic (i.e. any plugin NOT made by Apple, but is still encoded using the AU format) but is not made by apple, it is third party.
expected to be able to use these components outside
of Logic, and was disappointed to find out this
    wasn't possible.
Use a few other DAW systems, and you will find that any native plugins are not useable in other DAWs. . . such as Digidesign's Beat Detective - I'd love to use that in Logic - but I can't.
Logic is not the only software that doesn't allow the use of its included plugins outside of the host software. It is EVERY DAW software.

  • Logic Audio Unit Validater

I have loaded new waves audio unit plug-ins into Logic Pro 7.1, when they are authorized they have shown up doubled, the 5.2 versions. One group validates, the other crashed. Thus, every time Logic Pro 7.1 is loaded at start up it lists the bad plug-ins and you have to click ok to every unvalidated plug in before you can get Logic to full boot up. Is there a folder that you can delete from for the audio unit validater? Does any one have any ideas? Thanks

Launch the AUManager and deselect the bad ones?
