  • IPhoto 5.0.4 update available via Software Update

Recommended for all customers using iPhoto 5.0, 5.0.1, 5.0.2 and 5.0.3.
iPhoto 5.0.4 addresses an issue with browsing photos that have been auto-rotated by a camera.

There are still big performance problems for some users - in the thread "Topic: What can be done about slowness?" some people have figured out that this is very likely related to a bug in handling the additional information that a camera saves with a photo (maker notes), since it occurs only with pictures taken with certain camera types (e.g. Pentax GS 330). That would fit well since as far I know iPhoto5 makes more use of this additional information than iPhoto4!
I hope this will be fixed with the next update! Otherwise there's no other way than going back to iPhoto4 for many users.

  • Apple updates failing (via Software Update and Manual .dmg) but other installs complete.

    Hello,
Currently on an iMac 3.06 Core 2 Duo, 10.6.8
All the current updates in my Software Update (iTunes 10.6.1, Java Update 7, Safari 5.1.5) will not install, and will not install via manual .dmg download either. Other NON apple updates/installs I download will install via the installer just fine.
I've done the usual permissions repair from current disk utility version, as well as persmissions and disk repair via boot from install disk. Rebooted, no changes.
Console keeps showing similar errors as follows:
    4/7/12 4:34:12 PM
    installd[987]
Package Authoring Warning: Will not do obsoleting for package com.apple.pkg.update.softwareinstallerupdate.1.0 because it contains unsafe bundles.
I'm pretty stumped. I have a 1tb drive, and there is 60gb free. If this was a disk space issue, I would assume other updates would fail also.
    Thoughts?

Same issue. Mid summer went to update Aperture, got to the "Moving items into place" and just stayed there. Then, when all the update for Mountain Lion came out, same thing with iPhoto's update. Tryed the .dmg's, same thing. Many hours on phone, established a second administrator account, checked out the HD's status, still the same. Booting into Safe Boot allowed the installation(s) to complete, but not a great solution. I thought that this was my machine, but my wife's near identical 13" MBPro did the same thing yesterday when she tried via Software Update. Again, Safe Boot allowed the installations to complete.
One thing, it seems only to happen on Apple's graphics or "lifestyle" apps ... iWork went OK, but Aperture, iPhoto, iMovie are the ones that seem to hang. Maybe that can help diagnose this. For what it's worth, I think the problem is something gone amiss in Apple's installers for some of these programs.

  • Snow Leopard Graphics Update now available via Software Update

    Fixes include:
"Resolves an issue that could cause Aperture 3 ... to unexpectedly quit or become unresponsive."

I'm loving to be able to work agin Aperture, I can confirm that everything is faster after the update, including adjustments, but I don't use brushes that much (it would be grate if some one could give a feedback on that)
Most of my files are around 150-500 mb file size (I'm doing VR Panoramas) and I can tell you that Aperture is with out a doubt much, much faster for sure!
    Thanks!

  • Final Cut Pro 5.1.3 available via software updater

    Wonder what it addresses?

We are seeing an incompatibility here with our Pro Import FCP plug-in, something changed in the new release.
If you are using Pro Import FCP we recommend you not update to 5.1.3 at this time. We'll update our web site when a solution is found.

  • 10.5.2 Now Available via Software Update

    10.5.2 has been posted.

Was hoping for a way to "favorite" radio stations but that's okay.
View Sidebar.  Add new playlist called Radio.  Click on Music/Radio.  Find the station(s) you want and drag them to the Radio playlist.  Open playlist and double click the station you want to play it.
    Hope you have some fun,
    Robert:-)

  • Updated AirPort via Software Update-- cannot connect to internet now.

Hello, my father has been using his Macbook for a few months now and I noticed there were updates he hadn't installed, one updating Airport to 1.2.2. After the update and an intel Firmware update we cannot connect to the internet! Airport tells me that we're connected to the network, however both Firefox and Safari cannot navigate to webpages, nor can iTunes connect to the iTunes music store. Note: we are using a Linksys WRT160N router and we did have the Macbook working flawlessly prior to the update.

    Hi
    Try these two suggestions:
First, go to your Utilities folder>Keychain Access.app. Open the application. In the Keychains menu>Keychain First Aid. Select "repair". If errors appear, rerun until you get a clean pass.
Close the app., then restart computer/Safari and try the connection.
If no go, then reapply the 10.4.10 combined update. Do not use the computer while the installer is running. When complete, "repair permissions" via Disk Utility in your Utilities folder. Sometimes reapplying the combo update corrects file problems in OS X.
If that doesn't work, either the problem is specific to the cable box, or you may need to reinstall OS X.

  • No 10.4.7 update via Software Update nor manually for MBP

Via Software Update, I have applied the 10.4.7 update to a variety of machines, but, for some reason I have yet to determine, my MBP will a) not "find" the updated via Software Update to date and b) upon downloading both the intel Combo and Delta updaters manually, the installer returns this error:
"You cannot install Mac OSX Update Combined (Intel) on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update."
I have rebooted, cleared caches, repaired permissions, ran DFA, etc. I removed some items from the Login Items area of my account in the Accounts pref pane. I have removed a launchd User Agent I created with Lingon. Each subsequent attempt check to Software Update says, "no new software" and each attempt to install manually results in the aforementioned error.
On this particular MBP, I have 2 partitions; my primary, large, daily use partition and a smaller, "rescue" partition with a functional OS on it. Running the manual installer allows me to select (and, sucessfully update) the "rescue" partition (which I did do). I booted from the "rescue" partition and, when selecting my primary partition during a manual update via the Combo or Delta installers, get the same error as mentioned earlier. So, booting from an entirely different "drive", I get the same error.
I also downloaded the combo version of the 10.4.6 installer thinking I may have a busted component somewhere preventing the recognition of this laptop as an elligible candidate for 10.4.7. It returns the same, exact error I get trying to manually apply the 10.4.7 Combo/Delta updates.
During my installation attempts, the drive has had upwards of 14GB free. I did apply the MBP 15" firmware update that was released a while back.
The Quicktime 7.1.2 update was recognized as available via Software Update and I installed it with no problems.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Mike
MacBook Pro 15"   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   Core Duo 2.0GHz/2GB

I eventually did an archive and install to get 10.4.7 installed on my MBP the last time around. Now 10.4.8 is doing the same thing. Neither via Software Update nor manual downloads of Intel delta or combo updaters will apply. Arg!
Has anyone else seeen this? I've tried applying the update while booted regularly and also in safe boot to no avail.

  • Epson 2.1 Drivers Available Through Software Update

An Epson Printer Driver update, version 2.1, is now available via Software Update.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669 has been updated: a '+' designates the added models, and a '*' designates the updated models.

My printer (DX4850) also stopped working. I reset the printing system then added the printer again and it appears to work.
If that doesn't work I imagine that re-installing the Epson drivers from the Snow Leopard install DVD will fix it.
Unfortunately the Epson 2.0 drivers have been taken off Apple's site. These are the same as the drivers on the Snow Leopard DVD but it's a little easier to use the download instead of fishing out the DVD again and re-installing every printer driver. Presumably Apple were so confident in their testing process that they felt they could do that.

  • Firefox 3.6.15 is not downloading on MAC OSX, not via software update nor via manual download. It claims i do not have full admin rights which is not true.

If I do a manual download via FF website, it starts to install, asking if I want to replace an older version of FF. If I then continue, it says that it cannot process as I do not have access to 'certain components'????
I have full admin rights, it is f... my computer. I am running a Macbook Pro on OSX 10.6.6.
FF is giving me more problems lately, a.o. not showing certain flash elements (have latets flashplayer). Anyone else getting annoyed with FF?

  • HP Driver "Can't install because it is not available from Software Update Server"

Proplem: Can't use my HP Officejet 6500 E709n on my MacBook Pro, even using USB connection.    I click on sign, get add printer window showing the HP 6500 printer as USB Multifunction.  I select and press 'add'.  I get 'setting up ...' window.  After a while I get the error window, "Can't install the software for the HP Office jet 6500 E709n because it is not currently available from Software Update Server."  Only option is cancel.
HP site says that it supports Mountain Lion and the only way to get the driver is through Apple's Software Update.
Apple's site says Mountain Lion supports HP 6500 printer.
The Windows 7 computer on the netword prints fine to it.
I would really like to get this connected.  Does anyone have a clue why the driver is not on the Software Update Server what the fix is?
    Thank you for the help.

Fantastic, Mene1 & John.  Thank you.  I deleted the HP Folder, deleted trash, reboot, and reinstalled.  USB installed like a charm.  Was able to print and scan.   I even noticed that the Fax printer came up for both USB and 192.168.1.65.  I installed the fax printer for the network and it works great without USB.
However, the network for the printer never showed up in the list.  I tried IP option and entered the address.  It correctly identified the printer in the "use" field.  However, when I click on 'add' is has a window that says, "Unable to verify the printer on your network.  Unable to contact to '192.168.1.65' due to an error. Would you still like to create the printer?"   I choose Continue, and it creates the printer.  Printing, it just sits there trying to connect with the printer.    Again, the printer is hardwired into my home network and I am using my AT&T U-verse Wi-Fi connection to my MacBook Pro (which works for Fax on the printer).
    Any ideas?

  • Itunes 10.4 won't install on 10.6.8 via software update

everything is in the titel, won't update via software update and regular download on the apple website

From the Apple website; requirements for iTunes 20.4:
Mac OS X version 10.5 or later. See image below.
So it WILL run on 10.5, 10.6, and Lion which is 10.7.
That is why is shows up under "software update" on 10.6 computers.
The problem is with the installer on some computers.
I went to an Apple Store and a Genius had to us the "root" administrator account to install iTunes 10.4. It is a hidden administrator account.
So go to an Apple store or call Apple Care if you are still under warranty.

  • My Mac has Snow Leopard 10.5.8. I want to install Mtn. Lion. Apple says I first need to install SL 10.6.8 and that it'll be available at Software Updates. It isn't. Now what?

My Mac has Snow Leopard 10.5.8. I want to install Mtn. Lion. Apple says I first need to install SL 10.6.8 and that it'll be available at Software Updates. It isn't (and I've installed every software update I can pull up.) Now what?

10.5.8 is Leopard. 10.6.x is Snow Leopard.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
If you need to purchase Snow Leopard you can still purchase a copy from Apple's online store's telesales agents.[1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753) or Customer Service and Sales Support at 1-800-676-2775.] Ask for a Sales Representative.
Third-party sources for Snow Leopard are:
    Snow Leopard from Amazon.com
    Snow Leopard from eBay
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store.
If you need to purchase Lion call 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775. Ask for a Sales Representative. They will check your Apple ID, and email you a code and instructions.  The cost is $29.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download.
Be sure your computer meets the minimum requirements:
Apple - OS X Mountain Lion - Read the technical specifications.
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps - App compatibility and feature support for OS X & iOS.
Am I eligible for the free upgrade?
