Audio Video Bridging on Cisco Switches

Hi All,
I'm looking to implement AVB (IEEE 802.1AS, 802.1Qav, 802.1Qat and 802.1BA) on Cisco switches. I've searched on these forums, Cisco's website and google for any information there might be about AVB support on any Cisco switches. The closest I've come to finding information is some slides that state plans for AVB implementation on some blades for the 4500E series switches there are some other features from the same slides that have been implemented but there is no word on AVB implementation. Has anyone else heard anything about the implementation of Audio Video Bridging?
Wiki Page for AVB
Thanks in advance,
Cory

Hi,
Catalyst 4500E is expected to be hardware-capable of supporting AVB by late calendar year 2013. Other switches, e.g. Catalyst 3k, other 4k series and 6500, only mentioned AVVID support, nothing about AVB.

  • Audio Video Bridging

I'm looking into interfacing with a DUT that has Ethernet Audio Video Bridging (AVB).  A protocol similar to Ethernet which is used for in vehicle audio and video transmission.  To test this interface I just need to provide a static image and then ask the DUT if everything is okay.  The actual vision analysis is a seperate test.
Has anyone done anything with AVB testing?  It appears to be an obstraction layer on top of UDP so I suspect if nothing else I can do low level UDP calls but I don't really know what I can or can't do.  Any help is appreicated, thanks.

If 10 out of 10 experts in any field say something is bad, you should probably take their opinion seriously.

    Hi Hooovahh,
I've done some research in our internal systems and have not found any references to AVB. I think we'll need to see if anyone else in the community has done something similar. It also appears that AVB was renamed to "Time-Sensitive Networking" in November 2012.
If it is based on UDP, you should be able to use the lower-level UDP functions in LabVIEW to do the communication.

Hi, i need to find out Root Primary and Root Secondary bridge in all my offices.
sh spanning-tree summary command can tell me which switch is root bridge primary, but how can i find secondary root easily with some simple command?
    sh spanning-tree summary
    Switch is in pvst mode
    Root bridge for: VLAN0001-VLAN0002, VLAN0005, VLAN0008, VLAN0031

I'm not sure if there is a simple way of finding the bridge with the SECOND best priority.

  • Cisco switches AVB Support

    Hi,
Does any one have idea if any Cisco Switch model have (or will have) AVB Feature (Audio Video Bridging) support available ? What switching product have you used for AVB deployments? There should be something from Cisco available now or in near future.

AFAIK, Cisco IE4000 (based on 3750X hardware) supports AVB and nothing else today. You may contact Cisco to confirm the availability and roadmaps. The major market is the industrial control facilities. HTH,

Using UCM 8.6 and IOS 15.1, I've set up a Conference bridge of type "

I've read through the SRND, but can't seem to find a good resource for configuring these features.

  • Audio/Video Switch Question

    Heres the scenerio:
I have A JVC Wide Screen Projector that has (On the Back) component plugs and regular video plugs (Red, White, and yellow). I want to plug in the Apple tv to the TV, but that means I would be plugging the audio cables into another input. When I everything to the tv, I can see the apple tv, but I cannot hear anything because the audio plugs are plugged into another input.
On the tv side, If I plug in the component cables from one input and plug in audio-video from another input into the output on the switch.
Then plug the Apple tv into one of the inputs on the switch, will it work?
If the output on the switch is being plugged into two different inputs on the tv, will the apple tv be able to play sound and be seen when its plugged into the switch?

The back of my TV has a component input (green red blue). It also has another input for Video (red, white, yellow).
I can get video on the Apple TV from the component, but when I connect the audio to the red, white, I get no sound.
I was thinking that I am connecting to two different inputs, so thats why I would need a audio/video switch.

My Ipad  will show all regular inbound calls, from Iphone, as Facetime calls.  I would like only TRUE facetime calls to appear. I have switched audio/video on Ipad but it still happens.  How can I set the Ipad to only register only true FT calls rather than all inbound calls that a re not facetime calls?  Yes, you may have to reread this twice and slowly to understand..... Thanks!

    Hi webn,
I understand that you do not wish to see phone calls on your iPad anymore. I have an article for you with some information on accomplishing this goal:
Connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac using Continuity - Apple Support
    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT6337
    Turn off iPhone cellular calls
To turn off iPhone cellular calls on your iPad or iPod touch, go to Settings > FaceTime and turn off iPhone Cellular Calls.
On your Mac, open the FaceTime app and go to FaceTime > Preferences. Click Settings and deselect the iPhone Cellular Calls option.
Thanks for coming to the Apple Support Communities!

  • FME 3.0 Audio from Audio Conferencing Bridge issue

    All Hi
I am having an issue pulling audio from an audio conferencing bridge and then streaming it out via Flash Media Encoder 2.5. When I take another source, such as music or pre recorded voice, it sounds fine, however as soon as I switch to the audio from the audio conferencing bridge, the resulting output via the website that I stream to sounds very poor. Not awful but not good. Obviously I understand that the audio isnt going to be as good as you would get from an MP3 or pre-recorded file but I dont think it should be this bad.
Could it be something to do with my encoding settings.
I am using Mp3, Mono, Sample Rate of 44100 ( which is high I know ) and a bit rate of 96kbps.
I dont believe its my audio hybrid ( Sonifex HY-03 ) or my converter box ( stereo phono to firewire converter ) as all other audio going into FME is fine, its just this darned audio conferencing feed.
Could my encoding settings be too high?
    Thanks in advance.

To configure Osprey 440 you need to select exact Input in FMLE from this device.
Osprey 440 has 1 audio slot and 4 composite Video slot.
Starting from Audio cable, you have Video A, video B, video C and video D.
Similarly on Audio breakout cable, you have right and left channels for each of the 4 inputs starting from left 1 right 1, left 2 right 2  and so on.
In FMLE these device are listed as Osprey 440 Video device 1A, Osprey 440 Video device 1B and so on.
You need to select exactly that input in both audio and video drop down list whom you are giving input in the card.
    Hope this helps.
Let me know if you still face the problem

  • I am using ALSA and Icecat. When I play any html5 audio/video it works, but the next time i click on another audio/video link I lose sound.

I am using Parabola (a fork of archlinux), Icecat 31.4 and ALSA
Icecat and firefox seem to hold onto the soundcard when I click on a new html5 audio/video link in the same tab. The next video/audio element loses sound. If I wait 10 seconds and click back to the start of the audio/video, the audio returns. I often get cpu spikes for icecat when it happens.
I have tried this with both motherboard and usb sound and I get the same problem. I have disabled extensions (addons) in Icecat, deleted profiles, reinstalled the browser and even installed firefox from the AUR and it still occurs.
I have disable gstreamer in about:config and restarted and it still occurs.
    My .asoundrc is this:
    pcm.!default {
    type plug
    slave.pcm "hw:0,0"
All my other audio applications work. I have noticed that if I use pulseaudio it fixes it, but it should work without anyway, like it used to. I think something happened after an update, but I'm not sure.
Any help would be appreciated. I know it's not a big problem, but it's really frustrating and I've had it for ages. I even switched browsers to get away from it.

    The error log -

Every time we tried to connect I got the same error message.
I use an airport extreme - my granddaughter has some kind of wifi - but the error was on my side not hers as she connected to her friends.
    Please help.
    Thank you.

Hi - I have a cable modem from comcast.
I am not sure I understand all your questions, suggestions - so I will copy what I have when I go into the airport utility under internet.
Do you have four tabs (You may have less)  I HAVE 4 TABS
In the First tab what does it read at the Bottom ?  AT THE BOTTOM OF THE FIRST TAB (INTERNET CONNECTION) IT DOES SAY "SHARE A PUBLIC IP"  WHEN I LOOK AT THAT SETTING - I COULD CLICK INSTEAD BRIDGE MODE OFF, OR DISTRIBUTE A RANGE OF IP ADDRESSES.  BUT FOR NOW THE ONE THAT IT IS ON IS THE SHARE A PUBLIC IP.
    "Share a Public IP" ?
    Or "Bridge (Off) Mode" ?
I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHERE TO LOOK FOR THE INFO BELOW.  I ALSO HAVE UNDER THE INTERNET CONNECTION TAB - CONNECT USING ETHERNET AND ETHERNET WAN PORT AUTOMATIC (DEFAULT)
THE 2ND TAB IS TCP/IP AND THERE IT LISTS CONFIGURE IPv4: USING DHCP
    IP ADDRESS: 69.138.244.124
    SUBNET MASK  255.255.248.0
    ROUTER ADDRESS  69.138.240.1
DNS SERVER  68.87.73.246  AND 68.87.71.230  (THESE ARE FILLED IN THE BOXES AND NOT CHANGEABLE.
    THE 3RD TAB IS DHCP
    DHCP BEGINNING ADDRESS 10.0 .1 .2
    DHCP ENDING ADDRESS 10.0.1.200
DHCP LEASE IS 1  THEN DAY
    4TH TAB NAT
CHECKED IS ENABLE NAT PORT MAPPING PROTOCOL
I HAVE BEEN USING THIS AIRPORT EXTREME FOR AT LEAST ONE YEAR.
THE ONLY DIFFERENT ISSUE IS THAT I HAD BEEN TRAVELING AND USED MY DAUGHTER'S AIRPORT EXTREME LAST WEEK.  I HAVE NO IDEA ANY OF THAT INFO - BUT I DO KNOW THAT THE AIRPORT EXTREME LISTED IN THE UTILITY IS THE ONE AT MY HOME THAT I AM WITH NOW.
THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO TRY TO HELP ME.  I REALLY APPRECIATE IT.
    JUDY
Between that drop down and the tabs should be the info  on how it connects to the Modem.
It may list that Puiblic IP.
It may list another LAN IP (one from the Modem)
    Does it start 192.168....
Or 172.16 (or up to 172.32....)
Or possibly another 10.... number ?
If the modem is issuing IPs to the LAN there are two things that can  effect things
One is the fact the computer gets two IPs (even though the mac can only display one)
And If you used Port Forwarding in the Modem the Place (IP/Computer or device) that it was pointing to may not be the Airport Base Station any more.

  • Audio Video Input

I have a QIP6416-2 box and in order to get video, it needs to be connected via the Audio Video jack. I only have one input on my TV so I am unable to connect my DVD player. I was told the he Audio Video inputs on the box are disabled by default so I cannot even use them to to connect my DVD player. Verizon is severely limiting the ability to connect other electronics for the customer's viewing pleasure. Why are they disabled so hey cannot be used?

get an audio video switcher for $10.  dont expect verizon or box maker motorola to provide all these extra features because you old tv has 1 input. all modern tvs have multiple hdmi and audio video inputs. id like my cable box to do my dishes but i know its not possible.

  • Audio & Video Call Recording Solution for CUCM

    Hi,
I am looking for a audio and video call recording solution for CUCM. The requirement is the recording system shall record all audio & video calls including incoming, outgoing, and station-to-station calls. One cirtical requirement is: The users on the CUCM system shall be able to record video calls for video equipped stations with a push of a button on their Cisco IP Desk set or their Cisco soft phone.
Does anyone know the product or third party vendor who supports audio and video recording for CUCM?
    -Thanks
    Vaijanath

Currently Cisco doesn't support video recording with a push of a button on their Cisco IP Desk set or their Cisco soft phone. Also, I have checked with the third party vendors and they only support the video recording using Passive Call recording (port mirroring).
