Audio/video out of sync after export

My son Charley and I are working on a simple project, where we have imported an MP4 file into Premiere Pro, then edited it, with no problems, but when he exports the file (either to an MP4 or FLV), there is a small but noticeable audio-video sync problem on the exported file. There does not seem to be a sync or other problem with the source file, nor with the edited file as viewed within PP. But on the exported file, the audio seems to run slightly ahead of the video.
When we upload one of these exported files to Youtube or Vimeo, the sync problem seems to become more noticeable than in viewing the exported flv or mp4.
We cannot find a solution in searching the Forums. Charley consulted with another more experienced videographer, and they tried for hours to no avail.
Charley is using Premiere Pro CS5.5 on a Mac (MBP Mid-2009 2.53 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, using OSX 10.6.8).
We see lots of discussion about frame rate. Charley put the settings to 'match source' but maybe there is something else we're supposed to do.
He can post screen shots of all the settings, if that will help. Adobe provides no phone support for PP and just sends us back to this Forum.
Any help  much appreciated.

Kevin: OK, that's helpful. Charley is at work until 3:15 Eastern; in the meanwhile, I'm trying below to reply to your inputs; sorry if some of my questions are illogical, just reflecting my confusion.
You say to match source settings, including audio sample rate, and (I think) that we should do that by creating a new sequence at which time we select the clip and drag it to New Item button. Perhaps doing that would make some of the following questions irrelevant, I'm not sure, but here they are:
We did not check the box "Match Sequence Settings" (just under 'Export Settings'); should we have done so?
On Presets, and using FLV vs H.264:
Do we need to leave the 'Match Sequence Settings' box Unchecked if we want to use a YT or Vimeo Preset?
FLV does not seem to have a pre-set for YT or Vimeo, but does have one for 'Web.' H.264 does have YT and Vimeo pre-sets. As I've mentioned, we have been trying to make this work with FLV, as Charley found that H.264 was giving us (worse) sync problems. Maybe we should go back to H.264.
You say that "if these things don't work, "...try an similar H.264 preset to upload to" YT. Do you mean to suggest that we try exporting in H.264 instead of FLV? (If that's not what you mean, and if we still work with FLV, then I don't know what "an similar H.264 preset" would be; do you mean like the 'Web' preset?
Whether FLV or H.264, I'm unclear how ensure audio sample rate matches source.
Codecs listed on source file are H.264, AAC; does that imply that under 'Basic Audio Settings' on Audio settings tab, we should use an AAC codec rather than the MP3 now indicated?
Should we be determining the bitrate settings of the source (ie, right click the file within PP to find the properties, including bitrate?) and then using that bitrate?
Or do we resolve all this about audio sample rate simply by creating a new sequence as discussed above?
I hope these questions make sense. Thanks again for your help.

  • Audio and video out of sync after exporting sequence

I'm a FCP user since years, but not so common with HD footage. Therefore I have an issue with my finished edited movie after exporting: Video and Audio are out of sync.
    My sequence settings are: HDV1080i50, 25fps, 48kHz, 16bit, Stereo. I used File-> Export-> Quicktime Movie -> Current Settings
Sequence has a duration of 61 minutes and 38 sec. I tried to find out where's the problem and exported audio and video seperated. This results in:
Video is 61 minutes and 27 sec long
Audio is 61 minutes and 38 sec long
That means exported video is shorter than original sequence.
    What could that be ?

I had the same problem with a Panasonic camera, even filming at 30 fps. I was able to fix it; see [this thread|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1783029&tstart=0]. It's a frustating problem, to be sure. You might have to use Easy Setup a couple times before you get things to work properly. Not sure why that's the case.
    Good luck!

  • HELP!  Audio goes out of sync after export!

OK, folks. I need your help. I have a looming deadline of THIS FRIDAY to hand this in.
I have a finished multicam edit of a show that runs 1 hr 20 min. It plays back perfectly in the timeline, all video and audio perfectly in sync. Looks and sounds exactly like what I need.
When I export the video as an H.264 file, the audio gets out of sync with the video by 13 frames! But that's not all... It doesn't happen to the entire audio track. There's about 50 minutes in the middle of the video where the audio goes out of sync. The audio at the beginning and ending of the video is lined up perfectly in sync. It's just the middle section that gets screwy.
    What do I do?!
This has never happened before, and I've worked a lot with multicam in Premiere Pro CC before this. Never been an issue. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Premiere, and also deleting all media cache files, but still no dice.  I also tried copying the clips into a new sequence in the same project, copying the clips into a new sequence in a NEW project, nesting the sequence... nothing works.
    My setup:
    MacBook Pro Retina (Rev. A)
    Premiere Pro CC (latest version)
Panasonic GH3 footage in 1080p 24p AVCHD timeline
3 cameras & 1 audio WAV file in Multicam
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

OK, I figured out how to fix it:
In Premiere Pro CC, click on SEQUENCE > DELETE RENDER FILES.
    Try exporting the movie again.
It worked! I exported the same sequence, and it took a long while to re-render the audio files, but when it was finished exporting the audio and video were in perfect sync. I'm not sure what caused it, but this fixed it, so hopefully anyone else having this issue can save a lot of time by reading this.
    Cheers!

  • Audio/Video out of sync when exporting to MPEG4

I am working on a project that is being edited on FCP 5.1.4
Anyhow, there is problem when exporting to MPEG4- the audio/video is out of sync.
Sequence settings show 29.97 editing base with 48 mhz sound, which is the same as the MPEG 4 settings, but they are not in sync. Anyone encounter this problem? I've never had this problem before previously.
    Thanks
    Caitlyn

    Hi Harm,
last time you suggested the same but  I wouldn't know how to take the BM card out of the equation. I only have on station. If I export to Beta SP there is no problem.

  • Audio gets out of sync after export and burn to iDVD - works in iMovie

I've burned my DVD show twice on iMovie and iDVD and the audio music tracks slowly get displaced over the course of the show (15 min) after exporting and burning to iDVD. It gets pushed back so that it starts later each new track...I've locked the audio to the playhead for each new audio track - however, there are some empty gaps between the tracks, does this have anything to do with the displacement? Or should it not matter since the tracks are locked?
I had it all synced up in the playback on iMovie and had it aligned with visuals, however, after burning, it gets displaced and everything gets off...

  • Audio Video out of sync after Capture

I've read thru the Discussions posted but can't seem to find the exact same problem....
This has happened in both FCP5 and FCP6..
Last nite I captured wedding video into FCP6 from 2 identical cams with identical settings..The 1st Capture (18:00) went OK but the 2nd Capture of the same duration showed a window and transport bar. It stated something to the extent "analyzing audio". It's done this in the past and every time it occurs the audio is exactly 30frames off. The video precedes the audio by 1 second. It's easy to re-sync the two but annoying when it happens.
I'm capturing both videos into the same document so no settings change and the problem is not specific to just one camera. It has happened on both cams. I'm using the same tape deck to capture both videos and the same mini-DV tape brand.
    Anyone have any thoughts?
    Thanks

To nomadesign: I've not tried that. I use the tape deck to reduce wear on the heads of the camera. If I knew which clips would have this prob then I could use the cam which originally shot the vid. I guess I could go back and re-capture the footage which slipped out of sync using the cam which shot it just for a test.
To 2reverb: the video was captured at 48khz. When I first got the cams they were default set to (is it 34 or 36khz) and i discovered the prob very rapidly so I corrected the cams right then.
    Thanks to both of you!!!!

  • IMovie Problems: Photo import and audio-video out of sync.

    Photo import problem:
Some times, I have problems importing photos onto my new project, the photos will appear to be that just one same photo when played. It does not transit to the other photos following the first, it's just stuck on the first. Is this just an issue with iMovie '11? Are there any other ways to resolve this problem?
    Audio-video out of sync:
I've checked some other discussions but I'd like to raise this issue again for APPLE. There are problems exporting my 7-minute film - the video and audio go completely out of sync no matter what format I export it to. There are not a lot of clips used. I'm now trying the method to detach the audio files from the video, hopefully it works.
These issues are bothering me, in addition to a failed firmware update on Mac OSX 10.7.2 a few weeks ago. I couldn't open my computer and I had to go to the Genius Bar to have them help me backup my files on my computer and reinstall the whole system again. Anyways, any help to the above iMovie issues are greatly appreciated. Just wish that Apple will address these current issues and not just focus on improving their products with awesome features ._.

  • Audio/video out of sync (audio delay) with PowerBeats wireless earphones.

I am having a problem with audio/video sync between my  PowerBeats Wireless earphones with my MacPro and MacBookPro. I have tried pairing, playing the video, pausing the video, turning off the PowerBeats, tuning the PowerBeats on, then starting the video playback again. I have the same audio delay so this not working for me. Anyone have an update as to how to fix this audio/video sync problem?

I am playing MPEG-4 movie files. I did open MPlayerX from my dock, then pulled down File to select Open which then did show the folder where these movie files are stored.  Then I was able to select a movie file, open it, and use "Decrease Audio Delay" to closely sync the audio with the video. I say closely because it is not perfect. Rather than stepping each increase or decrease in one tenth of a second, perhaps a finer adjustment would have been in milliseconds. This is the adjustment that I have with my AVR to sync the audio with the video, so I know this is a possible increment adjustment. The perfect adjustment was in between -0.4 and -0.5 second, however, this was not possible in one tenth second adjustments. The closest adjustment was with -0.4 second rather than with -0.5 second. So, adjustments in milliseconds could have been very near a perfect sync. Perhaps later versions of MPlayer will offer the adjustment selection in milliseconds. Nevertheless, this is working much, much better than before. Thank you so much. I have spent most of this day researching this problem and you have come up with by far the best solution. This problem goes all the way back to 2010 and possibly beyond for Apple products. There are hundreds of reports documenting out of sync audio/video issues with no solution that works as well as MPlayerX. Even the Beats support staff have no idea of how to resolve the audio/video out of sync.

  • Buffering pauses and audio/video out of sync, single RTMP stream w/ simple embed

    Hello,
I am running Flash Media Server on my dedicated CentOS host, and finally connected a single RTMP stream fine and am able to embed and play back the stream, but I am getting constant buffering pauses (approx every 5 secs) and audio/video out of sync by at least 5 seconds. My CPU with Flash Live Encoder is a powerhorse, never over 25% processor or ram usage while streaming, and my upload internet speed is averaging 6-8 mbps which should be more than adequate. I fear the issue is server side, however port 1935 is open and in use, not firewalled on CPU nor the host.
    Any suggestions would be great.

  • Audio out of sync after exporting into Quicktime using current settings.

Quicktime file has audio out of sync when I export to quicktime movie using current settings.
Ok for about the first few minutes then, out of sync after about 10 minutes.
I shot the footage on tape with my Sony HVR-Z7u.
My Sequence setting is the same as the format of the footage as shown below.
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: HD 1440x1080
    Editing Time base: 23.98
Quicktime video settings: Compressor: HDV 1080p24
    Audio Settings: Rate 48 KHz
    Depth: 16bit
    Clip format:
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: HD 1440x1080
    Vid Rate: 23.98
    Compressor: HDV 1080p24
    Audio Rate 48 KHz
    Audio Format: 16bit

I recently moved and both of my editing machines were unplugged for a couple of days until I could get them set up. After turning them back on, the problem had disappeared. Perhaps leaving the system unplugged had allowed some of the internal components to reset? That's the only thing I can think of. At any rate, the issue is gone.

  • DVD & Blu-Ray audio out of sync after export

When I use FCP X's built in DVD or Blu-ray export option, about halfway through the video, the audio becomes out of sync and becomes ahead of the video.
    How can I fix this?

    Freddy,
You will see that I am experiencing the same issue with my DVDs and BDs per my question 3 hours prior to yours.  It never was an issue until very recently.  I may have a solution.  Realizing that my audio was acting as if I had "Drop Frame" audio attached to "Non-Drop Frame" video, I went back to my source material to verify my acquisition settings.  All elements of the production were recorded appropriately as "Drop Frame."  Playback on the "Timeline" (Passé now) was perfect.  No audio sync issues there.  So I felt it must be some rendering setting within Compressor and the render engine.  When you go to Compessor (Send to Compressor), you will gain access to the audio render settings for both DVD & BD.  Typically, the "Retiming" under the "General" tab of the Audio Inspector is set to "100% of source."  I Went ahead and checked off the radio button below that to render the audio at the exact duration of my program (nearly 3 hrs long).  I did this for the DVD version of the program and placed it into DVD Studio Pro to replace the bad sync audio.  Well wudda ya know....it worked.  I haven't burned the DVD yet, but that is next.  I suspect that if this works for the DVD, it may work for the BD render as well.  Wish me luck.  I hope this helps.
On a side note:  If all else fails, render a MASSIVE master file and use that in Toast to make a BD.  Not the best option, but it will get you out the door.

  • Why does my audio slip out of sync when exporting?

I am exporting an HD edited video. I shot 1280x720 & editing in FCP 6.0.5. I am using APPLE PRO RES 422 1280x720 30fps 48kz . Should it be (HQ)?? - I do not select re-compress all frames or make self-contained. I just want a QT reference file to view and then burn a DVD. My clip is 43 minutes long. HOWEVER, the audio drifts out of sync BIG TIME. Why is that??
    Here are my sequence settings:
    1280x720 Aspect Ratio HDTV 720p (16:9)
    Square Pixels
    H.264
    Audio at 48kHz

That's what I thought, however, when I play back the .mov file after exporting using "current settings", that's when I experience OUT OF SYNC audio. Do I ignore that and drag and drop that file into iDVD and let iDVD crunch it??? Is it just the playback of that .mov file that is out of sync?

  • Audio falling out of Sync after importing into PP

    Hello there,
I'm relatively new to this, so please when you're helping me, dummy it down as much as you possibly can.
I've been using Xsplit to record games while I play. I recorded a ~2 hour video and toward the beginning of the video  it seems to be pretty a-okay but later in the video when I play it in premier pro, the audio starts falling out of sync.
I have no idea why it does this or what to do. When I play the original raw video the audio and video are both on time.
After googling this issue for about 40 minutes (and i'm not 100% sure what this means but I have a general idea) I read somewhere that the reason why the audio was out of sync was because xsplit uses a "variable framerate".
Not sure if this is true or not, but regardless, I tried exporting numerous times and the audio STILL falls out of whack.
I looked on xsplit and there was a setting that i could enable to force constant frame rate.... is this a solution to that problem?
    Please, help me.
    Thank you.

If your current video file DOES use a Variable Frame Rate, it will not edit properly in any version of Premiere
Force your software to create a Constant Frame Rate file and try again
Go to http://forums.adobe.com/community/premiere and, in the area just under Ask a Question, type in
    variable frame rate
    or
    VFR
