Audio volume in menu

I am new to DVD Studio but have worked in iDVD for quite a while. I have tried to find any control for audio volume in the Main menu of a DVD Studio project and cannot find anything. iDVD has that control for the audio portion of the main menu. How can I adjust the volume within DVD Studio?

Nope, you will need to adjust volume outside of DVD SP.

  • Non-Apple Keyboard: any way to control system audio volume?

I have a non-Apple Keyboard on my new Mini Lion 7.2.1
Is there any way to control system audio volume via the keyboard ?

Well. I can do this. But just because, on my Apple keyboard, there are the keys that do the job. There's a key to mute, and the keys to adjust low and high the sound. But keyboard shortcuts, I don't think exist. The aren't in keyboard shortcut in Keyboard panel, within System Preferences. The bottom line is that isn't a menu item in Finder for lower sound and higher sound. The only option would be an AppleScript that you save as an applet within Scripts menu (activated in Finder via Script Editor) and you invoke with a shortcut... Well, you can do it, if you open the script Set Output Volume in UI Elements Script folder within Scripts folder. Try it out!

  • Reset audio volume

I'm not sure where to post this question, but here goes. Is it possible to reset the audio on my mac so that the sound volume of video clips and movies is raised? I regularly encounter video with audio volume that is too low, even though I have the volume level in System Preferences set to the maximum. I find the problem in DVDs, QT, and YouTube, etc.
    Thanks, Caoim

Might be corrupted sound preferences ...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
    Type or copy paste the following;
    /Library/Preferences/Audio
Click Go then move both .plist files from the Audio folder to the Trash.
    com.apple.audioDeviceSettings.pllist
    com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist
Restart your Mac. See if that made a difference ...

  • Adjusting audio volume for all slides?

I can easily do this for one slide, but when I Shift-click to
select all slides, then apply Captivate's Audio / Edit Timing menu
option, the dialog shows me an Adjust Volume option that adjusts
the volume for all slides in the movie. But, when I adjust the
volume and press OK to exit the dialog, the new volume setting is
not saved with my movie. Is this a bug? Anyone?

Hi boonedogr and welcome to our community
In the words of Yoda: Hmmm, seems a bug we have found!
So here is how to make it stick.
    1. Click Audio > Edit timing... and you should see the
    "Edit Audio Timing" dialog.
    2. Click the Insert Silence toolbar button. This should
    produce the "Insert Silence" dialog.
    3. Change the "Insert" field so it reflects 0.001seconds of
    silence.
This step is necessary to trick Captivate into accepting the
audio has indeed changed. I use 0.001 seconds as it is the minimum
you can insert and it should have absolutely no discernable effect
    on your movie.
    4. Now click the Adjust Volume button to see the "Adjust
Volume" dialog where you can alter the volume level as well as
    boost dynamics and whatnot.
    5. Make adjustments as desired.
    6. Click OK to dismiss the Adjust Volume dialog.
    7. Click OK to dismiss the Edit Audio Timing dialog
At this point, you should notice several progress indicators
as the audio clips for all slides with audio are adjusted to
    reflect your new settings.
*NOTE: This will have no effect on Background Audio or Object
Level Audio. Those clips will need to be adjusted manually as a
    separate process.
Hope this helps a bit... Rick

  • Premiere Elements 13 - Help with AUDIO volume

When recording the audio volume is too low. I adjust it in Premiere Elements 13 to the maximum and it is louder but still too low.
When I play with gain I get extra an effect that I do not want.
If there is not a way to do this from Premiere Elements is there an inexpensive plugin that I can get to work? When I search google seems like there are plenty of photoshop plugins but not enough for premiere.

Thanks for the follow up and good news of progress.
    A few ways...
    One way...
    a. In the Expert workspace, you have a thumbnail for your video with its associated low volume audio in Project Assets
    b. You drag  the file from Project Assets to the Timeline Video 1/Audio 1 (the volume will be at 0.0 dB)
    c. Then you drag the file again from Project Assets to the Timeline Video 2/Audio 2. This time you right click the file there
and select Delete Video from the pop up menu.
    d. Then you drag the file again from Project Assets to the Timeline Video 3/Audio 3. This time you right click the file there
and select Delete Video from the pop up menu.
    e. You repeat this until the sound has an acceptable volume.
    Another way
    a. In the Expert workspace, you have a thumbnail for your video with its associated audio in Project Assets.
    b. You drag the file from Project Assets to the Timeline Video 1/Audio 1 (with Adjust Tab/Adjustments Palette/Volume
adjust the volume from 0.0 to + 6.0 dB)
    c. Move the Timeline Indicator to the far right...right click the Video 1/Audio 1 clip, select Copy. Do about five Ctrl+V to make
five side by side copies of the file at that remote location of the Timeline Indicator.
    d. Then go through the drill of what is described above....all copies directly above one another on tracks above Video 1/Audio 1.
drag a copy to Video 2/Audio 2, and the Delete Video
drag a copy to Video 3/Audio 3, and the Delete Video
drag a copy to Video 4/Audio 4, and the Delete Video
The quality of sound and video were good on your YouTube video. I am still having problems with my Internet connect but got
    to watch most of it.
Please let me know if you are OK with the information above. Good job with the audio gain and normalization.

  • Camileo X400 camera - low audio volume

    Hi
I hope someone can point me in the right direction. I recently purchased the cameo x400 and when I upload it to face book the audio volume is really low.
I am using a new lapel clip mike which I have tried on other audio devices so that is not at fault. Is there something in the settings etc that I need to change when using the mike or can I edit it to increase the volumeon the software provided.
    Many thanks
    Ian

Did you check the user manual of Camileo X400?
    I recommend doing this.
Unfortunately it looks like the microphone volume isnt changeable.
Only the menu sound can be changed. This option can be found in Setup menu.

  • More finegrained audio volume control? (Harman/Kardon USB SoundSticks)

    Hi,
I've been asking this question for every major release since 10.2 and I am near to just give up on it. I use the Harman/Kardon SoundSticks (the older USB model, not version 2 with the regular audio jack) and since 10.2 they are simply too loud. Since the speakers themselves do not have any volume control knob it has to be a software solution.
With OS X's sound volume keys I can only use "1 bar of volume" when in front of my Mac and even that is too loud. The only solution is to turn it off completely or to lower it a little bit via the volume control slider in the menu bar. This results in approximately "3/4 bar of volume". Moving it just a tiny bit down from here results in muted audio.
Is there any way to just reduce the overall audio volume via software? Sure, I can do it app by app, but I really need a systemwide solution!
    Thanks
    Björn

Then maybe you're really lucky or just like the high volume setting. This problem exists for years now and it's definitely not caused by my hardware/software. It was the same with the following Macs:
    - Power Mac G4
    - iBook G3
    - iBook G4
    - Power Mac G4 Cube
    - PowerBook G4 Ti
    - PowerBook G4 Alu
    - MacBook Pro CD
    - MacBook Pro C2D
And it happened on all releases of OS X from 10.2 up to 10.5. All versions were installed clean without upgrading so I really have reason to believe it's Apple's sound driver for the SoundSticks...

  • Controlling audio volume in MovieClip

Is there a way to change the audio volume of a MovieClip? It
seems like something that should be obvious how to do but I can't
find any information about how it could be done.

When you first import the movie you have the option to extract the audio, which places it on its own track.  If you didn't do that, you can still go to the movie menu (in file) and import the audio, same as in L9.

  • Audio volume concerns

OK my ringtones are fine when a call is incoming but message notifications are pathetic.
The volume is about 40% the preview (I know it's linked to media volume) but even on max the message notification is really weak, there's no x-loud for us to boost the speakers and all other settings do nothing for volume.
    Any ideas?

Hi, I bought an Xperia Z3 Copper this Tuesday and have noticed that both the incoming call ringtone as well as the messaging tone are abysmally low. I have the volume controls set to maximum in the volumes sub menu. WHen I choose the the ringtone and notification tone, the volumnes are definitely good but when selected, they revert to the low volume state. So much so that I have missed >95% of my incoming messages with the phone right beside me and about half the incoming calls. Another issue I noticed is that when I slide the volume level selectors to anything below full (even to the first lower step), the output volume drops to 20% of the original at 100% which in itself is not loud enough to hear. At 50% volume control, I can actually not hear anything unless in a quiet cabin with the air conditioning turned off.  Is this an issue with my handset unit or is it universal? If it's a bug in the volume level selector software, can Sony please provide a patch to solve the issue ASAP? Otherwise, the speakers work just fine while playing audio, video or game files.
    Cheers!

  • Variable audio volume

The audio volume from my Mac Mini varies randomly. I have tried using the analog audio out and now using an HDMI display with audio out of the display to a soundbar. I've tried regular computer speakers and the sound bar. I've tried the analog audio out and the audio from my HDMI display. It even varies when I use the internal speaker. It happens with iTunes and with Pandora through Safari. Is this an OS issue or is it my mini? I did take it apart to add a second drive.
    Mac Mini mid 2011
    8 gb ram
Startup disk is a Mercury Extreme 6G SSD using an OWC data doubler,
Second internal disk is a Toshiba hybrid disk
    OS 10.9.4 on the SSD
    Thanks for your help.

How are the levels changing...? Are they changing when you switch between App's like iTunes and Safari or are they changing while your listening in the same App...?
Please note that System Sound Effects, Date & Time Announcements and iTunes all have build in volume sliders that may need to be adjusted down to match the output level of video or music streaming in other App's like Safari.
For example; I use a Creative Speaker System and here are my settings that pretty much balance out all of the different volume outputs.
System Sound Effects is set a just above half.
Date and Time Announcement is set slightly more than half.
iTunes is set at about three quarters.
Then to control the overall output volume I use either the main output volume slider on the menu bar or the Creative Speaker System remote. Most of the time I just use the handy Creative Remote sitting next to my mouse and leave the main output volume slider at about two thirds.

  • Audio volume low when computer wakes from sleep - os x yosemite

I've been having an issue ever since I upgraded to OS X Yosemite, where the audio volume coming out of my external speakers is extremely low after I wake my computer up from sleep.  The only resolution I have found is restarting the computer.  Once I do that, the audio volume is great.  If I were to boot up my computer after it has been completely shut down, the audio volume is also great.  The issue only occurs after sleep.  Anyone else having a similar issue?  Is there another fix besides restarting the computer?
Speakers: Bose Companion 2 Series II (these are wired, not bluetooth)
Computer: Mac Pro - late 2013 - running Yosemite

This is a BUG.  It has been submitted to engineering many times - unfortunately Apple has not done anything about it.   We have 5 Mac Pros,  all 5 do the same thing after updating to Yosemite.   The  PRAM / SMC reset is useless -  we even  installed a fresh  OS on one of the machines (a suggestion of the level 2 Apple tech)  same problem.   Clearly this is a system level bug.   Only way to get it resolved is to keep pounding the bug report site with requests.     The squeaky wheel gets the oil.   The problem is 100% repeatable on the machines that exhibit the bug.
In the mean time  set up an applescript with this command and it will reset the sound - do not include the brackets :
<do shell script "sudo killall coreaudiod" with administrator privileges>
Run it every time you wake from sleep and you won't have to deal with the problem ever again.
Pretty lame that Apple has not fixed it even though the problem appears to be pretty widespread.

  • ITunes 12.1 freezing upon launch due to "determining audio volume"

My (Late 2011) MBP running Yosemite is freezing when I launch iTunes. It is 12.1, the latest version. Upon launch, it says "Determining Audio Volume" and is on the first of my several thousand songs. The spinning wheel eventually pops up and I am forced to forced shut-down my mac by holding the power button. I can't delete iTunes as it is "required by the OS" and I can't open it and go to the preferences to uncheck "soundcheck" because it freezes the entire mac upon launch.
Anyone experiencing the same issue or know what might fix it?
    Thanks

I had the same problem, but I think I've found a cure.
Even though Sound Check was disabled in preferences, iTunes would insist on Determining Audio Volume everytime it was launched. But there is also a 'Sound Check' preference in the Burn CD dialogue.
To turn it off you need to select a playlist, hit the Burn Disc button (bottom left) select Audio CD as the disc format and un-check 'Use Sound check'
Then you must hit the 'Burn' button (if you don't it will not remember the new settings) You can then cancel the burn by clicking the X in the itunes player window.
This has cured the problem for me

  • Audio volume is always maximum at start

I upgraded to Mac OS X Lion from Mac OS X Snow Leopard.
Before the upgrade when I reboot Mac OS X the audio volume is at the same level I left before.
Now when Mac OS X Lion starts, the audio level is always at maximum.
I think this is a little bug of the new OS.
Is there anyone with the same problem?
    Does anyone have solved it?
    Thanks you all.

  • Slideshow audio volume adjustment

Help! I can't seem to adjust the audio volume of the audio file on a slideshow project. The audio volume on playback is always the same whether I slide the volume adjustment to the maximum or down to zero. On playback the audio volume is always the same. I need to lower this volume because it drowns out the narration part of the slideshow. How do you do this??
    Thank You!

I have come across this problem but I’m not sure I have a solution, perhaps only a work-around.
I have managed to save a slideshow from PSE as a WMV file on my hard drive.
Opening the WMV file with Windows Movie Maker (sorry if you are on a MAC) does allow the volume of the background track to be adjusted whilst also having a primary (Commentary) audio track.
