Audio volume increases during transitions

The audio volume increases while passing through transitions then decreases when the transition is complete. You can't seem to adjust the volume in the transitions. Anyone know what is causing this or how I can fix it.

@rhinofrank, did you ever find a solution to this problem. i have just encountered it also and am lost for a solution.

  • Looping audio with increasing volume?

My two week old PowerBook G4 17" is acting a bit strange when playing varoius types of audio. A small part of the audio in a song gets stuck in a loop with a tail of delay and therefore the overall audio volume is increased. This "effect" ends abruptly after a few seconds and everything is back to normal. It happens some 2-3 times during a hour of audio and I´ve never heard this "audiobug" on any of my previous PowerBook systems. As a passionate musiclistener and hobby-musician I find it quite disturbing with unreliable audio - has anyone else noticed this "audiobug"?
(apart from this, I'm extremely pleased with my PB17", it´s the best PB among the four I´ve had since 1999)

Is this a software bug related to 10.4 or is this issue hardware specific.........I just wondered so that if it is just a question of waiting for an update then thats no problem but if its a hardware issue then I'm afraid that apple need to pull their socks up! As for the LCD issue everyones talking about I haven't even bothered fighting that battle, the forcefield of apple bureaucracy has put me off. Apple needs to address these issues in more detail!

  • Volume increases suddenly during the playing *.mkv file in VLC player

I watched video in *.mkv by using VLC, when video has reached particular moment, the volume (not in VLC) increased from ~20% to ~75%.
This is not VLC's volume, I don't know how to name it correctly, it's volume that I see when I wrote "alsamixer" in terminal.
I replay this video again, and in the same moment, the same thing with volume occurred.
    How to avoid it?
At least, I'd like to set some "maximum", because when volume sets to 75% it's become terrible loud.

Test the file using mplayer2. What type of video are you watching? If it's having ordered chapters, then vlc doesn't support ordered chapter properly.
ps: it should be .mkv instead of .mvk
I've just tested this file in gnome-media player, this problem didn't occurred (!). So, it seems like VLC problem.
The video doesn't have chapters. This file is 3rd series of some tv-show. The previous two was ok (without volume problem).

    Ah, volume normalization. Yes.
MKV's (not ".mvk"), or "HD" movies usually have moments when explosions or gun shots are amped up. This is a cinematic effect, best felt with a proper audio system. Go to Preferences - Audio - Effects - Normalize volume to ... some_value (depending how flat you want it). I usually use SMPlayer with Right click - Audio - Filters - Volume normalization.
I did this settings, but it didn't help.
Also, I've tried to replay this video a few times, and found that volume increases in random moment, usually in the beginning. VLC's volume was still the same.
ps: Sorry about wrong format, i've changed it to .mkv

  • My volume key not working volume increase automatically, how to mute all audio

my volume key not working, volume increase automatically if i go to audio settings i can adjust, but  again volume increase automatically , how to mute all audio

Did you already try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comeback again?
If this does not boring back a working volume control, and to rule out a software issue, set it up as new device, explained here:

If still no luck, you'll have to get it checked by visiting an Authorized Apple Service Provider or Apple Store next to your place.

  • Reduce background noise and increase audio volume?

    Hi!
I have a movie with very bad static/background noise and low volume. I've been playing around the NewBlue cleaner AB, but I have yet to get a satisfactory results. Any hints/tips that might help me out? Or is it not powerful enough to get a good result?
Also, I've noticed the volume becomes even lower after running the filter.
How do I adjust the "clip volume" in edit effects past 6dB? If this is not possible, why?
    Thank you!

Well, increasing the audio volume is easy. But doing it without also increasing your background noise is much harder. In fact, unless it's of a specific frequency that you can filter out, it's pretty much impossible. That's why a lot of Hollywood movies and TV shows have to "loop" or re-record dialogue for a scene if there was too much wind or background noise.
The easiest way to raise a clip's audio level is to click on it and select Audo Gain, and then increase the gain level.
This, though, won't get rid of the background noise.
Bill Hunt has some tips that may be helpful.

  • Satellite L305D-S5974 audio distorts as volume increases

audio distorts as volume increases video slows as well. headphone jack does the same thing. updated drivers twice. already did a system restore. since there is no sound card so whats next?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I guess since the computer is old no one had any useful tips but I figured it out all by myself which I might add seems to be the norm from what I've read. This is the 3rd Toshiba I've worked on recently and find that they are the hardest to deal with. Especially since they are charging you for something that they should have included in the first place. That's right software hard copies like dell and HP. Anyway it was my bad for not noticing the CPU usage would Max out when then the sound would distort because Toshiba uses a bus port instead of a sound card it totally relies on the CPU speed. So I hope this might help someone else with their problem. Good luck... I might add that Toshiba laptops are easy to work on and parts are reasonable other then the software thing I would recommend this brand.

  • Sound problems during transitions?

Ok, i'm attempting to add a transition between a clip of some Talent Show MCs talking(I'm trying to cut out while they are saying something) right to a person singing, in then middle of a song. The sound is giving me issues, as the MCs keep talking while the singer starts singing, how do i make the sound during the transitions stop?
    Thanks.
Once the video stops, the audio keeps going, how do i fix it? That's what i need to know...i think.

I had the same problem - I couldn't figure out how to turn off the sound during transitions, and it was annoying because I had cut my clips exactly where I wanted the sound to end, but the transition does a fade-out with the clip before the transition, and a fade-in with the next clip, so it was adding additional audio that I did not want!
    Here's my work-around:
    (1) Take the clip before the transition, and cut it exactly where you want the sound to end.
    (2) Right click and select "Detach Audio."
    (3) Extend the length of the video clip (at the end) a little for better video during the transition.
    (4) Take the clip after the transition, and cut it exactly where you want the sound to start.
    (5) Right click and select "Detach Audio."
    (6) Extend the length of the video clip (at the beginning) a little bit for better video during the transition.
Now there will be no sound during the transition, the audio will be perfect, and the transition will look smooth.
If someone knows an easier way to turn off the sound during a transition, please post it here. If not, I hope these instructions help!

  • Inconsistent audio volumes with audio inserted via Properties panel and Audio menu

My course includes audio imported using the Audio menu (Import to Slide). On a few slides that have Captivate 6 Interactions, I had to include the audio using the Properties panel so the audio would play during the course of the entire slide and not pause when the Interaction appears.
The issue I'm having is, the audio inserted using the Audio menu plays at a lower volume than the audio inserted using the Properties panel. All audio files were recorded at the same time using Adobe Audition, so the volume level should be the same.

Yes, we are having the same issue, calling up a video on Netflix and having zero audio. Seemingly random, yet consistent. If we try the movie a week or month later, it still has no audio. We have a newer Television, have the HDMI cord, optical audio, state of the art. We're upgraded to the latest. So .....what's up Apple?

  • When adjusting the audio volume in a selected region, why does it give me a curved line instead of straight and why cant I change it like i can with a fade in our out?

When adjusting the audio volume in a selected region, why does it give me a curved line as a transition instead of straight, and why cant I change the fade shape like i can with a fade in our out? When I slide thet volume all the way down it makes a very abrupt down curve. It's audibly noticdible.
    Thank you.

Use the range selection tool and select the portion of the clip you want to change the volume on. Drag the volume line down and FCP will create keyframes which you can adjust as you want to get a fade shape.

  • Audio volume problem in Premiere elements 12

How can I reduce or increase volume in the soundtrack???

Sorry for my English but I hope you understandthe following.
I have for the moment no time to go through your comments and ideas, but I certainly will do the coming days.
For good order I’ll explain my problem more in detail: (working with Window’s 7)
When I use Tools>smartmix, I change Audio 1 in “forground”, Comments in “foreground”, Soundtrack in “Background”, Audio 2 and 3 in “Background”. So far so good!.
Next step is: edit>preferences>audio>smartmixer, and the only thing I can change is “milliseconds (i.e. 10)”, “mix pause (i.e. 5 sec)”, and “reduce background in % (i.e. 90%)”. So far so good again!
The volume sound  of the audio track is indeed reduced when there is a conversation in the clip, but not enough, so still too loud, certainly when the conversation stops, the volume sound is far too loud.
    What do I want:
    a)      Remain the original volume from the conversations etc. in the clip, so don’t change anything in here.
    b)      Reduce the volume to the level I like!
I realise, this looks an easy and simple question, but I can’t fide out  hou too lower only the volume in a soudtrack!
Waiting your reply and many thanks in advance
    Regards
    P.Gans

  • Camileo X400 camera - low audio volume

    Hi
I hope someone can point me in the right direction. I recently purchased the cameo x400 and when I upload it to face book the audio volume is really low.
I am using a new lapel clip mike which I have tried on other audio devices so that is not at fault. Is there something in the settings etc that I need to change when using the mike or can I edit it to increase the volumeon the software provided.
    Many thanks
    Ian

Did you check the user manual of Camileo X400?
    I recommend doing this.
Unfortunately it looks like the microphone volume isnt changeable.
Only the menu sound can be changed. This option can be found in Setup menu.

  • AUDIO VOLUME ON FINALIZED PROJECT

    AUDIO VOLUME ON FINALIZED PROJECT:
I made a standard iMovie project with the original soundtrack from the video mixed with some music tracks.  I had the music volume go down during the speaking parts.
To my surprise, on the finalized version, the background music drowns out all dialogue when viewed in full screen!  And yet, when this same version is viewed on the iMovie working window the volumes remain correct, as originally intended.
Any suggestions on fixing the sound mixing on the finalized version? Thanks!

  • Static during transitions

I am experiencing static during transitions and have read a lot of posts that complain about similar issues. I have also read that cross-dissolves are particularly prone to this problem, and that is my typical transition of choice. (I would assume that the cross-dissolve is one of the most common transition effects for most people.)
As others have reported, sometimes extracting the audio (as Apple suggests) seems to work, and sometimes it does not. In addition, having a lot of extracted audio really slows down the performance of iMovie on my older Mac and leads to some strange behavior that makes me think my project will get irreversibly corrupted.
I found it strange, though, that the static happened during some transitions, and not others. Then, I noticed that I was getting sustained static for the entire length of certain clips to which I had applied an effect. Again, only some of the clips to which I had applied the effect had the static, and not all of them.
Then, I think I figured out why only some transitions and clips had the problem. It seems that when I initiated a SINGLE transition (or an effect on a SINGLE clip), and I allowed that SINGLE transition (or effect) to finish rendering before initiating another, there was no static. However, if I initiated cross-dissolve transitions on MULTIPLE clips (or effects on MULTIPLE clips) such that they rendered SIMULTANEOUSLY, then I was far more likely to get static.
I found it very convenient to simultaneously apply cross-dissolves across many clips in my projects, and it takes a lot more user interaction to apply them separately, but it is worth it in the long run to avoid having to extract and/or mute audio at multiple transitions, and then suffer the resulting performance hit to iMovie.
Perhaps this is more of an issue when you have an older (slower) Mac like mine, or perhaps I am crazy, and it was just a coincidence that when I applied SINGLE transitions (or effects) that I did not get static. Perhaps some of you who have had this problem can try this workaround to see if it works and reply to this message. (Note that there may be different issues to which this does not apply. For example, I have seen reports of a single pop at transitions from still frames. I'm not sure whether that is the same problem.)
I seem to recall posting a similar message on the iMovie forum quite awhile ago, but it has long since been deleted. Stupidly, I forgot my own workaround and just had a similar problem with a new project, and I had to rediscover the workaround with an eerie feeling of deja vu.
It is amazing to me that something this important and basic to the functionality of iMovie has not been fixed over the multiple years since iMovie 3. If others can confirm this workaround, perhaps Apple can get a better idea of why it is happening.

Hello: I am having the same problem with a movie, rendered transition to a still image. Nothing fancy, and yet the entire transition is filled with static. I have tried two different transitions to no avail. The static is also in the exported Quicktime movie. so it is not something that shows up in the iMovie preview.

  • Pavilion g6 Laptop: audio volume fluctuating.

Product Name: HP Pavilion g6 - 2210sa Notebook PC
    Product number: C6S45EA#ABU
    OS: Windows 8 64-bit
This is a brand new laptop and from the start the audio volume has been fluctuating like it has a compressor/limiter applied to it. Any volume increase in a piece of music I play off itunes/pro tools/zune etc. is dragged back down after a moment and vice versa with quiter sounds.
I've searched these forums for a solution and tried all the suggested methods I've come across but am yet to find a fix for this.
It seems this is a very common problem for people with HP computers and yet so many of these promblems seem to go unsolved!
    Cheers,
    Harry

    Hey jhazzac,
The first thing I would suggest checking is your BIOS and Audio driver version. You will want to have the latest versions for both. Here is a link to the HP driver page for you model. If drivers are out of date, it can cause strange isues.
Check what BIOS version is on your notebook currently by pressing FN+ESC. A little window will pop up that has your BIOS version. Compare that BIOS version (ex. F.14, F.16) with the latest one available HP's driver page which shows to be F.22 right now. Take a screenshot of your FN+ESC window and post it in a reply if you're unsure.
Also compare your audio driver version with the latest version on HP's driver page. To check your current audio driver version:
    1. Press Windows Key + C to bring up the Charms Bar.
    2. Click Search and type in "Device" and Click Settings.
    3. Click on Device Manager in the search results.
    4. Expand the 'Sound, video and game controllers' section.
    5. Double-click on IDT Audio.
    6. Click the driver tab. Make note of the driver version number and post it in your reply.
If the audio driver version on your notebook right now is earlier than the version available on the HP driver page, you will want to download and install the latest version.
If the issue persists after you have updated the BIOS and audio driver versions, please let me know!
Also let me know if you have any questions or if these suggestions helped (this could help other users having similar issues). I'll keep an eye out for your reply!
