Audio Widget Constraints

I'm trying to insert two audio widgets on the same page, but iBooks Author doesn't seem to allow this. I've installed the first audio widget without any problem, but when I try to install a second audio widget on the same page the imported file simply refuses to load. I darg the file over but it just flips back to its original location. Any idea why this is?

I was able to insert two audio widgets on the same page without a problem. If you can add two Media Widgets but are unsuccessful when adding your audio content you may have problem with the audio file type you're trying to load. The Media Widgets will only accept audio files that are QuickTime compatible. If I understood correctly, you mentioned that you were successful in dragging one of your audio files to a Media Widget but were unable to drag a second audio file to the second Media Widget. Try adding the first audio file (the one that was successful) to both Media Widgets. If it works on both, then you definitely an unsupported format for the other audio file that didn't load. A list of compatible audio formats can be found at  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3775
If that's the case, you'll have to convert your auido file to one that is compatible with with QuickTime. There are a bunch of free audio converters on the web that you can use.

  • How to install the musegrid audio widget?

Does anyone know how to install the MuseGrid Audio Widget. Once I get in in the library I drag it onto the page, preview it and nothing show in the browser. I have the assets folder that comes with it but have no clue how to connect the widgets assets to the audio player. As well as how to connect the mp3 file to the audio player.
There are no clear cut instructions about the install and even on the page I downloaded it from the video tutorial does not play. I think I gave away $9..Please Help

Unfortunately I can't help with that particular widget, however I will mention that we do also have an audio widget over @ MuseThemes.com. There is a training video on this page that explains how our Audio Widget works - you might have some luck getting your downloaded widget to work by using a similar method as we use...

  • Change vertical size of audio widget box in 2-column layout?

The vertical size of this audio widget is just too big.
If I grab one of the square adjustment handles I can
drag it a little smaller, but that reduction always reverts
back to its prior size after I navigate away from the page
    and return later.
    The excessive size looks clunky.
Is there a way to change some internal code to make the
default vertical bounding box of an audio widget smaller?
I have no need to add text to the box.
Among other topics, I explain in a short video Intro how to play
the audio files in the Chapters that do contain audio.
I am forced to use a total of nine audio widgets in this one Chapter
because the audio widget stops playing if the user moves
to the following page before the current audio file finishes.
I wish Apple would fix the bug
that stops audio if the page gets flipped too fast.
(I have formally made that request)
    Thanks.

I kept playing around with it and I think I've found a work-around that's good enough.
I reduced the bounding box both vertically and horizontally as much as possible using the adjustment handles and pushed it all the way to the left of the column.
Then in the "Wrap" section of the Inspector, set the Object Placement to "Anchored" and checked the far right icon (wrap only above or below) after activating  "Object causes wrap".
So far, a much smaller box that appears to withstand coming and going from different chapters and then back again.

  • Youtube widget and audio widget crashes gmail

    Hi -
I have my site as a business catalyst site - and on some machines, it crashes gmail when I open youtubes or the audio widget I bought from Musegrid.
Has anyone had this happen?  And perhaps when I host from GoDaddy or sim, this problem will go away?
    Thanks -

    Hi
Please share the site url and exact steps you are taking to replicate the issue.
It should not crash any other browser site.

  • How to have audio widget start automatically

how to have audio widget start automatically when you turn the page in Ibook Author. I only see a loop funktion for the widget.

So I cannot use ibook author if I want this feature ?
You can't publish to iBooks if you want that ability. Doesn't matter what you use.

  • How to add an audio widget in IBA?

    HI,
I want to record an audio and to add it in IBA.
I know how to make an audio widget and how to add a song from my list of music.
But how could i record my voice? With what?  Do Apple offer an application for that?
    Tx

How old is your Mac? Did it come with preinstalled iLife applications?
Then you might want to give GarageBand a try.
GarageBand comes with many predefined filters to enhance vocals, or to make it sound like a Life performance, radio effect, like a megaphon, etc. And you have automation curves to adjust the volume, for example to fade the voice out.
Also you can trim and mix several recordings and position the sound along the stereo baseline. This way you can let the voice walk from left right or let a car drive by.
This screenshot shows how to use the predefined effects for voices, the Track pan automation to move the voice from left to right, the track volume automation to adjust the volume, and the "record" button to record a voice on one of the tracks in the time line.

  • My audio widget moves every time i close iba even when i lock it any suggestions?

my audio widget moves down the page everytime i close iba even when i lock the widget any suggestions?

Also having problem with iba in simple audio widget.  on deliver I get this:
ERROR ITMS-9000: "Files of type audio/x-m4a are not allowed outside of widgets: assets/media/Arctic_master_music.m4p" at Book (MZItmspBookPackage).
We've tried resizing widget, and different AAC from QT, iTunes and compressor.  I don't think it's the audio, but I don't understand "audio not allow outside of widget.  It is quite simply sitting inside the widget?  Not sure why your widget is moving, once I get this 30 min audio widget to validate, I'll be able to check if it also shifts.

  • HTML5 audio widget for iBooks Author

    Hello!
I'm creating a HTML widget for iBooks Author and I want to add a audio tag of HTML5 in my HTML file. When I do this, I test in Safari Browser and the audio sounds good, so I add my widget with the HTML file, sounds, Default.png and Info.plist and I do a Preview for see in iPad. When I open the widget in iPad the sound doesn't work and it show me a message like this:
        "cannot play audio file"
The audio have a .m4a extension. I don't know what can I do...
    Someone can help me, please?
    Thanks!

    Hi Crisiii,
I have the same problem. However, in my case it does work if I test the widget in an new empty book. When I add the widget to the real book it does not work. mabe you should do the test to troble-shoot and have a better idea of what is wrong in your case.
I will try to find a fix to the problem and let you know if I do. Please do the same if you find what the problem is.
    Thank you.

  • Replace audio widget in iBook?

Hi there - I posted this elsewhere and was encouraged to post to this forum:
While I wait patiently for the Apple gods to develop a widget that allows audio to play across multiple pages in eBooks created in iBook Author, I was wondering if there is a workaround.
Can I crack open the raw .ibooks file and replace it with some different, non-widget code that will allow my audio file to play without stopping when the user turns the page? I'm guessing there is audio player code out there that I can use to make this happen. Yes? No? Crazy talk?
I know there are other programs that will create eBooks that allow for this functionality, but my two eBooks are already built and ready to publish in iBook author. (And dear lord - I DO NOT want to build big eBooks on iPad apps.) If I don't have to reinvent the wheel, I don't want to. And iBook Author gives me almost all of the functionality I need.
    Thank you!

    >Yes? No? Crazy talk?
No. Nothing has changed to allow taking control over this iOS/iBooks navigational default.
As always, feel free to use the 'Provide iBooks Author Feedback' menu item for features you'd like added in the future, etc.

  • Dashboard - Audio Widgets don't stream to AirTunes

I love the Rabbit Radio Widget, but why can't applications other than iTunes support AirTunes streaming? I 'd like to listen to Internet Radio through the $2000 sound system the computer is connected to (through the Airport Express), and so Dashboard needs this audio streaming capability, just like iTunes.
It seems silly that we cannot do this. This also can be a problem with Safari as well, and other system-level or iLife applications...in fact, the last time I checked, iTunes won't stream music video audio through AirTunes-connected speakers...

You can send any OS X audio stream through your AirPort Express using Airfoil from Rogue Amoeba software. It's $25 shareware, but that me be worth it to you if you want to broadcast audio from RealPlayer, Safari, etc.

Yeah, it does make me appreciate Wordpress. I would have
    stuck with it, but
when I found out that you have to pay to edit your CSS (on
    their hosted
plan), I switched back to Blogger!
I'll keep my eye on that beta ("draft") version of Blogger. I
    have to be
cautious with my client's account, but maybe I'll try it for
    my own blogs.
    Thanks again...!

  • No Sound on Interactive Keynote Widget?

OBJECTIVE: I am trying to imbed an interactive Keynote Widget into an iBook with short audio clips that play after transitions between slides. The Keynote presentation consists of 8 slides that generally consist of an image, a couple of buttons (shapes with associated links to specific slides), a text box or two, and some have inserted audio .m4a files (less than 5 seconds in length). The audio objects are set to 'start after transition'. The overall presentation is set as a 'Links only' presentation type.
PROBLEM: After testing succesfully in Keynote, I saved the presentation, dragged it into iBooks author, and previewed it in iBooks (running on OSX 10.9.2 Mavericks). The widget works splendidly... except the sound. Audio objects aren't activated by transitions. No sound at all out of the Keynote Widget.
WHAT I'VE TRIED: I have checked that sound is working right on my Mac. In fact, Audio widgets on the next page of the same iBook work fine. I changed the audio files in the keynote presentation with a different one that was already working in my iBook as an audio widget. I have tried putting the keynote presentation into a untouched standard Apple template. No sound at all from the Keynote Widget. I also looked for solutions in online help files, Apple's Developer Forums for iBooks Author, and here in this section of the Apple Support Communities. I only found two similar questions/problems neither with a posted resolution (https://discussions.apple.com/message/22443281#22443281 and https://discussions.apple.com/message/22444086#22444086).
    TECH SPECS:
    iBooks version 1.0.1
    iBooks Author version 2.1.1
    Keynote version 6.1
    OSX version 10.9.2
Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong? Or is it an inherent limitation in the program? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

That being the case, Apple has stated that recorded narration will not work in the keynote widget (see iBooks Author: About the Keynote widget - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5067).
    Self-Playing and Recorded presentations
Self-Playing presentations and Recorded presentations with voiceover narration may not work as expected. Readers will be able to view and manually advance your presentation, but recorded narration and timings won’t be available.
The same article seems to indicate that some audio files should work in the widget, evidently as sound objects.
Keynote files can contain media—such as images, movies, and audio—but don’t use a Keynote file just to add media to your book.
I haven't been able to figure out how to get it to work yet though. If we can figure out how to get sound objects to work you could still put the audio in your widget, just break it up into a seperate sound file for each slide, and advance to next slide on click. Someone would have to figure out how to get the sound objects to play like they should though...
With regard to the other audio files: That is weird that Apple told you to use .m4p format for audio. Their online documentation says to use m4a. The following is an excerpt from iBooks Author: supported file formats - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2838.
Video and audio files: M4V, M4ANote:   For the Media widget, you can add a video file or an audio file (in a format QuickTime supports) to your book. You can convert other types of files using iMovie, QuickTime Player, or Compressor. For the HTML widget, the suggested file formats are MP4 video files and M4A audio files.
Either the tech who emailed you saying to use .m4p is mixed up, or their online documentation is wrong.
Please let us know if changing to m4p works for you. That may help others out.

  • Problem: using the sound widget AND gallery in one page

    Hello,
I simply tried to have a play-music player/button at a page, and a gallery to swipe through images too.
It caused weird problems. The iPad behaves strange, the iBook (previewed at iPad) doesn't work anymore.
Several times I had to make a total reset of iPad3.
The same result with a combination of a keynote widget (image-sequence) and music.
Isn't it possible to to offer a slidehow with sound?
    Thanks for any ideas!

    Hi,
the idea is to watch the gallery fotos or the keynote slideshow and listen to music/sound same time.
for any reason it did work in the beginning. but now, having the media widget/audio in the same page as keynote or gallery, the application does not run smoothly anymore, particularly the swiping is blocked.
I already made 2 chapters to avoid too many widgets in one chapter.
there are: 1 keynote slideshow (1024x768 images) , 1 gallery, and each 3 audio widgets to let the user choose different sounds. but actually the probelms start with pacing the first audio widget already...

  • Using Media Widgets in iBooks Author

I'm writing an eBook in iBooks Author (which is a great Mac App!). I am adding audio widgets from time to time, and want to place them in the text next to a specific paragraph. However, I have discovered that if I try to include a second audio widget on the same page as another audio widget, the first one disappears. In other words, it only seems to allow one audio widget per page. But this means I can't alsways place the audio next to the apprpriate para. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is there a workaround?

Is comment about enhancing the font to support AAT still relevant? Are you saying that iOS needs those AAT extension that macOS does not need? Is this mostly around MORX table?
iOS (and OS X) comes with two Gujarati fonts, Gujarati MT and Gujarati Sangam MN.  So the easiest thing to do is to use one of those.   Other platforms will probably have their own default Gujarati fonts with different names.
If you want to embed a different Gujarati font in your .ibooks format book, then you will indeed have to convert that font from OpenType to AAT before iBooks will display it correctly.   It's not true that OS X no longer needs AAT Indic fonts -- Pages for example still cannot use Opentype Indic fonts.
To convert an Opentype Indic font to an AAT Indic font I think someone will have to add a morx table along the lines of what is contained in Gujarati MT.
Bear in mind that iBooks Author creates a format that can only be read on an iPad (unless you want to export to PDF).  If you want to produce books for all platforms and readers, then you need to use .epub format and a different app, like Pages or Indesign.   With epub format you would probably not normally try to embed fonts but just  rely on the reader to supply whatever Gujarati font is already on the device.
