Audio won't play back after recording.

After recording with my BEHRINGER 1204FX though USB, I can see the audio in its track but it won't play the audio until I unplug my 1204 FX and set my input as built in or something else.
Why can't I listen to my recordings whithout doing this?

  • Video clips won't play back after capture

I am a long-time user of Premiere Elements, currently using version 9.0. I am capturing video clips from the same videocamera that I've used in previous versions of PE. My video clips won't play back after I capture them. The clip is in my "media" area, but when I try to play it back, the audio plays but the picture remains frozen on the starting image. What is happening?

It is a Sony Handycam DCR-HC28, mini DV, using a firewire connection.
Operating System is Windows XP Pro, Service Pack 3, system specs are SATA 2 RAID 1 with dual 1 TB hard drives. 4 GB RAM. As far as how fast my processor is, I looked on my invoice and it says, "Intel Core2 processor Q6600 (2.4 Ghz, 1066 FSB) with Quad Core technology and 8 MB cache, 4 GB DDR2 SDRAM at 800 MHz.
I defragmented my hard drive before beginning and have 779 GB or 83 percent free space on hard drive.
I have not placed my video clips on the timeline yet so don't know if there is a red line on top, indicating it hasn't been rendered. I merely wanted to play back my clip to set "in" and "out" points. This has never happened before in my long history of using Premiere Elements. Would prefer not to have to go back to PE 8, as that was a disaster.

  • My Microphone Levels are Low when I play back after recording

I plugged my Microphone into the computer and opened up Garage Band and saw that My Microphone was working. I hit record and started speaking into the Microphone to record my voice. I hit record:
    1) The VU meter on the bottom right started to peak and I heard "Pops" as I was recording. When I pressed stop, and played the recording back, the levels were really low.
How can I get the recording to be a bit higher? I am using it for a Voice Over. What am I not doing correctly?
Thanks in advance for your help

I am monitoring through my KRK 8's. I have changed nothing other than the update . I used to be able to hear all of the amps/effects real time , but now it is only after the recording is done and I play it back that I can I hear the amp/effects that I selected for the recording .

  • Audio won't play back

    Yet another problem I'm having.
I've been importing DV files into Final Cut with video and audio assets. now the problem is that the video appears fine, but the red unrendered line appears and I have no audio. Now, logic would dictate that the audio needs to be rendered, but when I render nothing happens. The red line is still there and I still have no sound. I've checked the audio properties of the clip. It is set at 16 bit 48.0 KHz. I checked my sequence settings. At first they were at 44.1 KHz, so I changed the settings to make it match the clip thinking it would fix the problem, but it doesn't. The only thing I've been able to do is export the audio using iMovie and pull it in separately to FCP, but that takes a lot of time since it's a long clip (over 50 minutes). It's already a pain anyway because just to get the video to where I can edit it, I have to export it through iMovie because FC won't read the .mov file we've recorded. (I keep getting a file error that says "1 recognized, 0 denied, 1 unrecognized"). So I export the file to a .dv format using iMovie so I can put it in FC.
Is there some kind of setting that I'm just overlooking? I really need help with the audio aspect of this, but if anyone could shed some light on why FC won't recognize the .mov format, I'd greatly appreciate it. (it makes no since for FC to NOT recognize the .mov format, especially with it being a Mac product.)

haha.. Trust me, with as new and inexperienced at all this as I am, I don't have the right to treat anyone with disrespect.
Ok, here's the details for our sound from the "About This Mac" option:
    SOUND DETAILS:
    Formats:
    PCM 16:
    Bit Depth: 16
    Bit Width: 16
    Channels: 2
    Mixable: Yes
Sample Rates: 32 KHz, 44.1 KHz, 48 KHz
    PCM 24:
    Bit Depth: 24
    Bit Width: 32
    Channels: 2
    Mixable: Yes
Sample Rates: 32 KHz, 44.1 KHz, 48 KHz
    AC3 16:
    Bit Depth: 16
    Bit Width: 16
    Channels: 2
    Mixable: No
Sample Rates: 32 KHz, 44.1 KHz, 48 KHz
Now if I'm thinking right, it looks as if the sequence option in FC is taking the PCM24 setting, as it's the only 32 bit I can find. Are there other details about my system you need to see?
This is the setup we've been using to record. We have two cameras (Sony VX2100's) that we hook into a Focus MX4 video mixer via (brace yourself) RCA cables... (I know... you don't even have to say it.) Anyway, we run the mixer into the computer with a firewire cable. The sound is pulled from the Soundboard from one of the Aux. channels into the microphone input on the computer.
The error we were getting was a "No Controller" error. I found out yesterday that I need to go into my settings and change to a "Non-controllable" device. The only other problem I foresee is that I know how finicky FC is about having a time-code so you can capture. I'm not exactly sure how to get around that.
The video sample I have for you, after being archived, is 5.6 megs. (iMovie lied to me and said it would be 3.5... grrrr.) Do you still want me to send this through e-mail?

  • Help!! AVI audio won't play - Premiere Pro v.7

    Hi!
I captured footage from my DV camera into Windows Movie Maker in the form of a DV-avi. (I use WMM because Premiere crashes when I try to capture DV video). And when I import the AVI into Premiere Pro v.7 the audio won't play in the project window. However, when I scrub the slider back and forth the audio does play (kind of).
I have never had this problem before. I've captured video many times and this never happened.
I tried re-capturing it 6 times, but still the audio doesn't play (except when I scrub).
Is there an option I clicked accidentally?
Any help would be really great.
    Thanks a lot!

You might Google for a converter
You might also use the free http://www.headbands.com/gspot to find out the file details, and report back so someone may be able to help
I installed that program. Very helpful and interesting. Thanks for the link.
I assumed, like you, that I had simply captured the AVI files as Type 1. But I guess they are Type 2, after all.
I don't know if this helps, but the AVIs play just fine in Quicktime, Windows Media Player, WMM and Winamp.

  • Weird timing issues when playing back a recorded sound file and with synths

    Hello there,
I'm having a couple of strange issues with playing back files that I have recorded using MIDI data which is then used to play an external synth which then gets recorded to an audio track which at the time is perfectly synced to a click track.
The problem is (and I really dont get why this is happening) when it comes to playing back the recorded audio file that sometimes it is either behind or ahead of the beat.
This makes absolutely no sense because sometimes it IS in time with the beat and other times when I play through my piece it is obviously out! I haven't moved the audio file in the arrange window and it is a permanent .aiff file that is stored on my hard-drive...what on Earth is going on?
On a side note, the same problem happens with any of Logic's synths when I use an LFO that is supposed to be synced to the beat. Sometimes when I play back the MIDI data it is perfectly synced and in time and other times it is horribly out. It really is just pot luck!
    Anyone got any ideas?

    Thank you supermacmom!
I have the LifeProof case for the iPhone5, and I remember the instructions saying that any protective screen cover should be removed before enclosing the phone into the case, but I left mine on with no ill effects.
But I should have taken off the back protective film, which was covering the video mic!

  • Exported MPEG2 Audio Won't Play in Quicktime - is there a workaround?

Just completed my first video edit in Premiere Elements.   Working with 720p HD footage from a Sony Cybershot.    Tried various preset outputs, HD 720p 25, among others.   In all cases, picture looked good but audio did not play back.   Just discovered after some searching that Quicktime will not playback MPEG2 audio without a $20 add on.  That's not going to break my bank, but do I really need it?   Is there a workaround for this?   Can I export in Dolby Digital?   My goal is simply to have a finished project that is the most universally playable as possible.  Will eventually archive on tape and DVD.   Obviously, want to maintain the best sound as possible.

Instead of using Apple's QuickTime Player, I would suggest looking into another player, such as VLC Player, or MediaPlayer Classic HC, both of which are free, and both of which have a very full set of CODEC's included in them.
For the best possible Audio, it would be best to choose PCM/WAV as the Audio CODEC. This is almost totally universal, and unlike all MPEG Audio (including AC3), is uncompressed. The file will be a bit larger (Audio does not take up as much space, as does the Video), but should give better quality, and not require additional CODEC's for users to play the file w/ Audio. This might not be an option in all possible Export/Share schemes.
For either PCM/WAV, or AC3 Audio, this will be set from the Audio Tab in the Export/Share settings. Remember setting the Encoding for the Audio might not be available in all formats, so just check that Audio Tab in the settings dialog screen (usually under Advanced).
As for DD Audio, you can set the Audio Encoding to AC3, wich is Dolby Digital, but that option might not be available with all possible Export/Share formats, so it gets down to an "it depends." This will be stereo (2-channel) Audio.
PrE cannot Encode to DD 5.1 SS (6-channel), as it lacks that Encoder. Even PrPro needs the Minnetonka Audio SurCode Encoder plug-in (US$300 option) to do DD 5.1 SS Export.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • PPro CS4 won't play back

Suddenly video in Premiere Pro CS 4.0.0 for Mac won't play back from source window, program window, or timeline, except for an occasional playback of < 1 second. Scarily this was described by a bunch of users in a thread started two years ago. Only one solution was offered there, which didn't apply to my Mac.
I was involved in another thread on a related subject in this forum once before but that setup seemed connected to the use of a Dazzle Bridge for capturing. There's no such complication now...it's just not playing any video more than a few frames.
An editor who can't playback any video is in trouble, and after paying as much as I did for this program and a Mac Pro, it is disheartening. Any ideas out there?

I appreciate everyone's help but I'm afraid the situation has gone from bad to worse, since Premiere suddenly disappeared.
Yesterday, following one bit of forum advice, I tried using a separate user account labeled Premiere Pro and the program did play the files--though it wouldn't let me save the project file where it resided. Now, however, the program is nowhere to be found. I have the original installation disk but I have heard of problems arising from reinstallations.
To answer some other questions, I did try to download the latest update for PPro CS4. I am using PPro for Mac on a Mac Pro with a 10.5.8 OS. I can't say for certain exactly which version I "have" of PPro CS 4 since the update because the program has disappeared and is not turning up in the Finder anywhere, nor can I recall the exact wording of the error message saying I couldn't save my project as edited under the alternate user. The program and system worked fairly problem free for almost four years before the last few days. I use a variety of source footage, including .avi, .mov, .flv, .mp3, .wav.
One Snow Leopard user has recommended using a Root User account which doesn't seem to apply here. For example, he referred to a "Network Account  User" option that was supposed to appear in Accounts/Login Options but doesn't on my Leopard. Also, as per another user at Trafford College, I revised permissions to select Everyone...however since the program isn't appearing on my computer, there's no telling if that worked.
Community help is greatly appreciated--especially in light of one forum report of someone who was on the phone with Adobe for hours with this kind of problem but without getting it solved.

  • Premiere Elements 4 audio won't play on mp4 files, codecs missing/unavailable on .mov files

I dowlnloaded Premiere Elements 4, and when I import mp4 files, the video plays but the audio will not. I've also tried to import .mov files, and an error message pops up that says "Codec missing or unavailable." I downloaded the latest version of Quicktime, but that didn't change anything. The files will play back on the video camera, but I"m having trouble with them on my computer. The audio on the mp4 files plays in Quicktime, but not the video, and vice versa when I import them into Elements. Any suggestions?

Does Quicktime Pro also edit .mov files on a PC?

Premiere Elements 4 pretty much works with tape-based digital video. That would be video from a miniDV or HDV tape-based camcorder. It doesn't handle other formats very well.
If you plan to edit MP4s, you definitely want to upgrade to a more current version of the program. If you can't install a current version of the program, you may need to address issues on your computer (such as an outdated operating system or underpowered hardware configuration).
Short of that, you could buy Quicktime Pro from Apple for $29. It will edit MP4s, even on a PC platform.

  • HDV4 in a .mov file won't play back using any software

    Issue:
I had 4 DVDs sent to me containing a bunch of .mov files that won't play back in any of the following apps:
QuickTime 7 Pro (includes Mpeg2 codec from Apple's Web site) - sends me to Apple.com's QT plugins page
Mpeg Streamclip - loads only some on batch import, but mostly displays white and plays the audio
HandBrake - Says not a valid source
VLC Player - error says that HDV4 files cannot be played
QuickTime Player - says format isn't a format that QT recognizes
I need to get this into a format usable by FCE.  I'm running the most up-to-date 10.6 Snow Leopard, and the last version of FCE.  How can I do this without losing my current version of iTunes or Final Cut Express?
    Vent:
As videographers gradually move to hard-drive based cameras, their ability to submit their footage becomes more and more difficult.  As a result, we get DVDs, flash drives, 64 GB memory sticks, and more.  It seems like each one uses a different file format, and every format is proprietary.  Where is a standards committee when you need one?  Where is the open-source format?

I just created a DVD in DVD SP, about 5 mins long with audio. It plays back beautifully on the computer, but my sony bluray player doesn't recognize it at all. I haven't tried on a standard DVD player, but I don't see how that would help. A previously made DVD plays fine on the player. Any thoughts?

    Dear Shawn,
Still no good. In a render last night, weirdly, even in my Mac the disk was unreadable and the warning said it was blank, but I rendered again and it works fine on the Mac. But on my SONY player, nothing.
I changed DVD SP to standard in the Preferences and re-created the project from scratch. I used the DVD: Best Quality 90 minutes setting with no changes. Here is the breakdown:

I am at my wits' end. I have two weeks to get this done for a memorial for my late father so you see my desperation.
Do you have any possibilities left? I'd go ahead and sign up for the Pro classes at the Apple Store, but in NYC I'm afraid I wouldn't even get to see anyone in time for FCP and its suite.
    Thank you for any advice.
