Audio won't work on AV connection kit when working through TV

Hi all,
Thanks to postings here I've been able to show videos throught the TV on my ipod 5G. But... a wierd artifact is that I can not hear SOUND ONLY though the TV, even with the AV connecting cables in tact. I have looked for settings akin to "tv out" for audio out but don't find anything. My goal is to listen to music on the IPOD through the TV. When I click around on the tv controls to the various video settings (e.g., video 1, video 2, video 3) I can hear a brief one or two second snippet of music and then it cuts off entirely.
Any suggestions? i can't find anything on support about this.
thanks,
Susan

If you have a scart-RCA adapter where the 3 phono wires plug into will work thats how I play my music through my tv

This adapter has an s-video input socket as well which is not need for playing songs

  • I just installed Lion 3 days ago, now my audio won't work, unless I use headphones, also space bar glitches, and other software issues..MacBook Pro 15 inch, and most everything is messed,,but the audio is killing me.

I installed Lion a few days ago, ever since then my audio won't work, unless I use my headphones.  Also, the saver screen with password changes frequently, and the space bar works when it wants to.  There are many other issues I am having.  My IPhoto,,does not work properly, pages is not working, I have all versions.  The Office Suite is acting strange, and my email accounts work when they want,,,my IPhone 4 won't sync anymore.  The list is endless...does anyone else have this problem?

Your wifi problem sounds very much like the problem I had. The wifi would drop out, the icon showed it was still connected. If I turned it off, I couldn't turn it back on. Another user here pointed me to the problem, which was the wifi cable (the flat cable goint from the card to the motherboard). I found it on ebay for $13 and it's been running fine since I replaced it. This is the repair guide for your machine. The part number will be on there if you click the link.

  • [Solved] Pulse Audio won't work on newly installed system with Gnome

About a year ago I got a new computer and more or less retired my old one with my first arch install. Recently, I decided I would set it up as a Linux system for my sister. I first updated the computer, which broke it royally (since it was last updated before the /bin symlinking happened) but I eventually got it fixed. However, after doing that, Pulse Audio wouldn't work, then I broke X and decided to do a full reinstall.
Now, on this clean install, Pulse is again not working. I have set up Gnome and gdm to work, and everything works great except Pulse.  The wiki says that Pulse with Gnome 3 requires no extra setup, so I have not edited conf files at all. I have, however, installed "pulseaudio-alsa", which created this conf file:
    # Use PulseAudio by default
    pcm.!default {
    type pulse
    fallback "sysdefault"
    hint {
    show on
description "Default ALSA Output (currently PulseAudio Sound Server)"
    ctl.!default {
    type pulse
    fallback "sysdefault"
    # vim:set ft=alsaconf:
which seems fairly standard. Anyway, I tried removing it and had the same problems. When I have Pulse Audio running and try to play sound, I get the error:
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1022:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave
Playback open error: -16,Device or resource busy
which is obviously trying for ALSA, or from mplayer:
AO: [pulse] Init failed: Connection refused
    Running "pacmd list" nets me:
    Daemon not responding.
    and pavucontrol gives me:
Fatal Error: Unable to connect to PulseAudio: OK
when I try to start it.
No pulseaudio commands seem to work (e.g. pulseaudio -k). They don't raise any errors, but also it doesn't have any effect on the server.
The only asound conf file is "/etc/asound.conf", clearing ~/.config/pulse does not fix the issue.
Journalctl does not seem to give anything interesting (Stale PID is the only message when starting Pulse), though admittedly I'm just vgrepping all of journalctl since I don't know how to narrow it down more, nor does the output from pulseaudio -vvvv. There are a lot of errors in pulseaudio -vvvv, but they all appear to be related to loading devices that don't exist, and so I assume not a problem, I can post it if necessary. Sometimes when I kill Pulse the process refuses to go away and I have to reboot in order to clear the process out, but I don't think that's related.
If I kill Pulse or keep it from starting on boot, I can play sound, but only through ALSA, and while I didn't have the problem I expected (I can still play multiple things simultaneously) there's still the issue that the volume buttons in Gnome will no longer work and that the volume levels ALSA reports are basically nonsense to a human being.
I basically just blurbed everything I thought of/found on the wiki or forums, and I'm not really sure where to go from here. It's a fairly old computer, so that could be related, and I'd be willing to dump Pulse if Gnome could integrate well with ALSA, but obviously fixing Pulse would be the preferred option.
Any suggestions on where to look next? I've run out of ideas.
    Thanks.

Wonder if you have a conflict between two audio cards ... for example, I have a friend with some PulseAudio problems caused by conflict between the HDMI audio from his graphics card and his onboard sound. Something would switch PulseAudio to the wrong card and it would just quit after getting itself into a twist. Unsolved, I'm afraid, but have a look at commands such as:
    aplay -l
    pactl list sinks
    pactl stat
(Latter two will need PulseAudio coaxed into life first)
and of course, the Arch wiki.
If there is a conflict, blacklisting kernel modules might also be needed.

  • Bluetooth streaming audio won't work w FORD SYNC after previously working.

Simply pull the SYNC module fuse, then place it back in.  This should clear up any problems that anyone is having if your bluetooth audio won't stream or your SYNC keeps saying NO BLUETOOTH DEVICE FOUND.  You can also disconnect your car battery cables, then connect them back and this will reset the SYNC Module.  I am a Ford Dealer in Southeast GA and had the above problem but just solved it.

i got the same issue on my ipod. i figured the whole idea of converting the format would solve the issue. never really found out how to solve it. i'll be watching this post to see if anyone has a solve for this issue.

  • Audio Won't Work: Help Needed!(SB Liv

Tonight I came to my computer and found that the audio wouldn't work. I ran Creative diagnostics, and the first message was that I needed to "reinstall drivers." The second test failed at hardware check, saying no hardware was detected. So I went to Device Manager and it indicated that it was all there. So then I went to Creative's website to check for drivers, after Windows came up with nothing. I found out that there's nothing. So then I decided to do a "Repair" with my Creative Soundblaster Li've! CD. That didn't work either. Then I just did a "Remove", and oddly enough, when I rebooted, it was all still there. In All Programs, in the task bar, it was still there. But only this time I couldn't run diagnostics again because it said that there is missing information or something. So the removal didn't work properly, and ended up removing certain vital components. This left me one step back!
What should I do? Go into Add/Remove Programs and get rid of all Soundblaster components, or get my Resource CD and reinstall sound drivers from it's Should I retry with the Soundblaster CD?
Note: I also opened up my PC after it was suggested by Creative Diagnostics earlier that I check my sound card's physical connection to my machine. I couldn't find anywhere to unscrew the card, so I just put a light amount of pressure on it to make sure that it's fastened in there properly. It seemed absolutely fine. Although I wonder why I couldn't figure out how to remove it.
Also note that I tried system restore, and to no avail.
I honestly don't know what to do at this point. Can anyone help me?!
Thank you!Message Edited by VenaSera on 02-08-200802:26 AM

  • IDVD audio won't work after installing Audacity

    Can you help please?
I am using iDVD 4.0 and installed a 3rd party audio software, Audacity. That's when the trouble started. iDVD kept crashing when I was editing existing projects, and the audio did not work at all in iDVD. I uninstalled Audacity, re-installed iDVD, and am still getting no audio. The audio files appear within the project, but I just can't hear them.
Is there a preference or other file that needs to be removed to fix this? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Assuming you've first checked Software Update to see if there are any updated drivers and it's still not working, you could try resetting the printing system.
System Preferences>Print & Scan, Control+Click or Right Click on a printer on the left and select 'reset printing system'. All printers will be deleted and need to be added again.

  • Audio will not work through Macbook Speakers.

Hello I just bought a black macbook and it had the infamous audio problem w/the red light coming out the audio jack. It worked fine with headphones or speakers but once I unplugged them, then a red light would shine through the jack and then no sound output through the Macbook's speakers.
Initially I fixed the problem, but every time I plugged in my external speakers, and then unplugged them the red light would reappear.
Now I have no red light in the headphone jack and there is still no sound...my Macbook can still output sound through headphones or external speakers but it wont work through the built-in speakers and now there is NO red light shining through the headphone jack...any ideas?
    Thanks!

  • Airport extreme, audio won't work on windows 7 boot camp for my macbook pro osx lion

Bought my Macbookpro in late 2011 and osx lion, decided to put boot camp on it, but it won't find my airport exrteme or even if i connect the ethernet cord directly into the laptop it still wont conectto the internet, and my audio also doesn't work, even when i plug in headphones, any suggestions?

Sorry for the late reply, I've searched as much as I could all having similar issues but not quite being the same issue. I've tried manually putting in my airport extreme information, search for other connections, start a new connection, all have not worked. I did everything normally to setup windows except put in the authentication code which i have misplaced.
I might've already added the drivers but im not too sure, how would you add the driver, just in case i missed that part

  • Audio won't work on imovie

okay so i've been using imovie for a few months and the audio stopped working a few days ago. When i try to record a video the camera works where i can see myself but i cant hear myself. The old videos i've already recorded still work as in the audio is fine but this new one doesn't. ive recorded other tester vids since the one on imovie that wont work and the other testers don't work as well. I have an imoive 08.
Also the same exact problem started on my photo booth today.
I've tried restarting my computer and the volume is fine.
    Help?

A bizarre false alarm. After spending 3 hours running utilities, checking download reinstallers info. etc., turned out to be hardware connection. Had fitted a mono plug to a stereo plug for mono recorder monitoring for both ears. Original track on video was in mono feeding out on one channel. That channel wasn't the one the mono plug was feeding through, hence no audio on the mono clips. Yes, should have set the audio to mono on the original mono iMovie clips.
A reminder to check every little hardware issue first.

  • I am connected to a time capsule both wirelessly and through ethernet...and state of the time capsule is solid green...the internet however doesn't work...The internet works fine when directly connected to my macbook pro but it won't work through the tc

I have deleted time machine preferences...restarted the modem a bunch of times, restored time capsule to it's original settings...after I first set it up in Airport Ulitity its shows a page quickly that states there is a internet problem, but the page quickly goes away before I can read what it says exaclty and states the internet connection problem is resolved...
However it's not resolved, I'm also having trouble doing a back up to my time capsule...I recently purchased a new macbook and retrieved/restore what was on the time capsule to the new computer...that worked fine...wireless worked fine...however when I tried to back up the new macbook...it would faii stating that there isn't enough room on the TC to do a back up...
I didn't end up keeping the new macbook, I was just using it/trying it out while my current macbook pro was being repaired (logic board)
Ever since I got my current macbook back from repair...my backups have failed due to their not being enough space to perform the back up...in the past the back ups would happen and old back ups would be replaced...
I think this has to do with my current computer having a new name after the repair..."Adam's macbook pro 2" vs "Adam's macbook pro"
The internet was working fine wirelessly through the TC a day ago, but it wasn't allowing my other laptop that was connected via ethernet access to the internet...I had a self assigned IP address error then...I don't have that problem now, but it's not transmitting internet at all...even though it's in a solid green state.
I have no problem completely wiping out my TC including the previous back ups on it...just don't know how to go about it...I have restored it to factory settings a bunch of times and created the network from scratch...just hasn't fixed the issue
Is there more prefences files I should delete

If the modem is also a router, either use the modem in bridge and run pppoe client on the TC.. that is assuming ADSL or similar eg vdsl. If it is cable service.. and the modem is a router, then bridge the TC.. go to internet page and select connect by ethernet and below that set connection sharing to bridge.
Please tell us more about the modem if the above gives you issues.

  • Videos of a certain length pause, resume, then audio won't work

I have the 60 GB video ipod. I've copied over lots and lots of different videos. Mostly short music videos I copied over from DVD's.
I also copied my personal Seinfeld DVD's using various software to get it to the Ipod. It worked fine for awhile but now, any video longer than roughly 25 minutes (Seinfeld, some sermons, etc.), will pause after roughly 1 minute of play, then resume after about 15 seconds, but the video only resumes. The audio will not resume.
They used to work. I did recently do two things and I've played around with reversing them but it didn't help. I downloaded the update to Quicktime. I did a restore thinking maybe it caused it but that didn't work. Also, I associated these shows as "TV Shows" in Itunes, but that meant I had to create a playlist for them to transfer to the pod. I tried associating a few as just "movies" and see if that made a difference and it did not.
I'll keep searching the board as I'm sure some others may have encountered this. In the meantime, please help me if you can. Thanks.

Yes it sounds like bad sectors on the drive are responsible.
Supposely driver software is supposed to map off bad sectors before data is laid on the platters, but sometimes it's not perfect.
If you have software that will Erase w/Zero option (writes Zero's to every bit on the drive) the driver software will then map off every possible bad sector.
Then use the latest iPod Updater to format and so forth.
I had to Zero both my Raptors and 60GB iPods, since doing so I've had no problems.

  • Audio Won't Work PLEASE HELP!!!

I imported a video into iMovie and when I play it the sound wont work. The audio boxes on the clip bar are checked and everything but there is no sound. Sound works in iTunes and other applications but not iMovie. Is it because the video tape I recorded with is an HD video tape? What do I do? Please help ASAP. Thank you!

Hi mgoldenberg - welcome to Apple discussions!
Frankly, I do not know why. I cannot imagine it is because of the tape. Does the sound play OK on the tape within the camera? The volume slider below the imovie screen is at the far right? Does an imported song play OK within iMovie? You have not inadvertently muted the video clips by dragging the volume down - can be done in two ways:
    1. by clicking on the small speaker icon at the bottom of the iMovie window and dragging down the vertical slider.
    2. Going View>Show Clip Volume Levels, and dragging down the thin line that appears through the clips.
Are you using an external drive to store your projects - if so it must be formatted OS Mac Extended and not for Windows.
Maybe you should try repairing permissions:
Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility - chose the startup disk, and click 'repair permissions'.
If that has no effect, then try this:
Find and delete this file after closing iMovie:
    Users (you)>Library>Preferences>com.apple.imovie.plist
Let us know how you have got on.
