Audio Wont Download into iMovie HD? HELP!

I was trying to upload a video into my macbook and the unit came up in my desktop and I clicked on it,
and I tried to like drag it into imovie 08 but that didnt work. but I heard that imovie is suppose to pickup a camera when it is connected to a usb cable but i didnt pick up my Kodak Easy Share at all. So I tried the next thing in trying to drag it into imovie HD, and that worked. But when it was done downloading in imovie hd, i played the video and no audio came out! just the video!!!! Please HELP ME!

So what you have is a still camera that also shoots video, right? It probably stores it on an SD card in a format like MPEG1.
You will need to get MPEGStreamclip (free, Google it) and convert those video files to either MPEG4 or DV. Then those reformatted clips can be dragged into iMovie and the audio should still be there.

I assume, you don't import from a camcorder (=as suggested by Apple), but try to handle an mpeg in iMovie (=as not suggested by Apple).
to make mpegs editable in iMovie, you have to convert those files BEFORE import.
recommended tools are Mpeg Streamclip .. and in case, you have to convert mp2, you need additional the mp2-playback component (20$, apple.com/quicktime)
in case your files use a DivX codec, you should install www.perian.org

Why won't my movies download into iMovie?

I have in the past downloaded my movies from my Canon Legria FS21 movie camera. Now I went to download the movies and they won't.
I asked some Chinese people at the local Apple Shop, but their English is like my Chinese, good for general conversation but not for computer language. All I got out of them is that I can't download them.
The files in Finder show on the Canon card as PRC001>MOV00A.MOD, MOV00A.MOI. The file name changes the last digit with each scene, but all have the MOD and MOI ending. Now I have no idea what that means.
Previously they just downloaded, even after I installed Lion, now they won't. I am sorry, I am hopeless at computer terminology but good at using the computer.
Can anyone give me a way of getting those movies into iMovie? Would so appreciate it.

Canopus ADVC110 - No Audio When Importing into Imovie 6

I'm trying to import a vhs video tape from a vcr through the canopus ADVC110 into imovie. The video comes over fine, but there is no audio. I've checked the connections and they all look correct. Any ideas?

I am having the exact same problem except I am using iMovie HD 5.0.2. It is definetly not my camcorder because I tried connnecting other audio sources to the converter. No audio is recognized by iMovie. I tried "cycling the power" opening and quitting GarageBand and deselecting ouput to camcorder. Nothing seems to work. Please help!!

Cannot import specific MOV file into iMovie. HELP please!

I have been using iMovie for many years and am not a novice.
For some reason, I have a specific MOV file that I cannot import into iMovie 10.0.5. When I try to import the file, I get an error message:
"No Importable Files: None of the selected files or folders can be imported"
The file is NOT corrupt and plays perfectly in QuickTime. Interestingly, when I try to import the movie in iMovie, it shows 0.0 sec duration, even though it load/plays perfectly in iMovie with a duration of 54:45. See file A1 below:
I even tried converting the file to M4V in Quicktime, but iMovie would still not import the new M4V file.
Any suggestions? This is an important Movie, I cannot re-record it, and I need to edit it in iMovie.

Can't import audio from .mov into iMovie 10.0.3

When importing a .mov file with sound into iMovie 10.0.3, the audio does not import with the video. I have no sound. The file plays and sounds fine on the desktop. What am I doing wrong?

Hello John,
Check out the first article for some troubleshooting steps to see if anything is preventing the audio from playing properly. Also try using QuickTime to convert the video in a different format and then import it into iMovie to see if that changes things.

Hi MandyD. They need to be converted to a format the iPod understands. The easiest way (but not the best quality) is to use iTunes to convert them. Make sure you have the most recent version of iTunes which is currently 6.02.
Select your file in the library, right click on it and select 'Convert Selection for iPod'.
There are better programs that will convert video for iPod with better quality results. If you need to know what they are, just do a quick search of the forum and you'll get a gizillion hits.

Entire video isn't showing up after download into imovie from flip cam

Hi there....
I'm a new user to imovie, so am having a little trouble here....
After I load a video from my flip cam, the program says it has downloaded the entire video (say 22') then when I go to put a project together only a short part (like 9 mins) is actually shown and available to edit. Where did the rest go? Are there settings I need to change in order to get access to the rest of the original video.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I have a security camera video but the audio thoug understandable is weak and noisy.

Hi-8 camcorders record their signal at about 400 lines of resolution, slightly less than Mini DV. So reording anything more than Full Quailty DV is overkill. I would think there would be a way to convert it to some type of uncompressed format using an expensive Analog to Digital machine but am unsure of that.

I've been having exactly the same problems...both iTunes and iPod freeze in the middle of updating: I've done numerous restores of iPod, and have the latest iTunes and iPod software.
Because it's out of warranty, the online repair service calculate a repair at 260 euros (a lot of money in anyone's currency).

Connect your iPod and in iTunes click on the name of your device which should appear in a tab towards the top right of the screen. In the tabs that appear click on music, pick what you want to sync, then click apply.
