Audiobook doesn't load on new computer

G'day,
We bought a new MacBook Pro and transferred the iTunes files across. Unfortunately, I'm having trouble with the only audiobook which I bought from the iTunes store.
The audio files appear in the iTunes directory. I can see the two files, no problem. However, iTunes doesn't load them. The computer is authorised and I can play the music files which I bought from the iTunes store. However, the audio book doesn't load in iTunes itself.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? I've probably done something foolish, but I can't figure out how to load the two files. The files are mpeg-4 (protected). I can understand why they're protected, but I can't figure out why they won't load or play in iTunes.
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Doug

  • Why am I asked to erase IPOD and resync after loading onto new computer

After loading Itunes and my library from my IPOD on to a new computer I now get a message: An IPOD can only be synced with one Itunes library at one time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of the IPOD with the contents of this library. If I choose the erase IPOD and resync option am I going to loose my music? I don't understand why it is showing I have more than one library.

if you do it on a different computer its considered to be a different library even if it has all the same songs
just make sure you have all the music on the new computer before you sync it and it will be fine and not lose anything

  • Internet links don't load on new computer

I just bought my son a new computer. At my house it loads anything I want on the internet. But at his house it can only initially access the internet and sometimes give a list of search results. But when you click any link or type in an address, the page tries to load but never succeeds. This happens with Firefox, Chrome, and IE. He has no internet problems with his old computer which runs Vista. The new computer is an eMachine 1360G computer. It is wired and runs Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, and has 10/100/1000 Ethernet. He has no router. His modem says Verizon model 6100F. It is a Westell model P90-610015-06. It also says ADSL2+ Modem. I don't know what service level he has from Verizon. Thank you for your help.

  • Cannot get itunes to load on new computer. Widows 7 any ideas???

I have ane wcomputer running Win 7. I cannot get itunes to load. i authorized the unit and all i get is a prompt to repair or delete itunes. When i hit repair it then promps me to delete itunes and that is the only choice I have. any ideas?????

You can only have 5 computers authorised at the same time. If you won't be using the old computer you should deauthorise it.
Don't try to transfer your library via home sharing, simply copy the entire iTunes folder (and all subfolders) across the network or via an external drive. If the media folder is not a subfolder of the main iTunes folder that holds the database files (or you have any media in other locations) then these folders need to end up at precisely the same paths on the new computer as they had on the old one, otherwise as long as the media folder remains a subfolder of the iTunes folder all should be well.

  • My copied address book doesn't work on new computer

I transferred my address books to my new computer, but when I try to send a message it says the addresses are not valid. Both computers are Thunderbird and W8.1. I am receiving emails and can respond to emails that I get, but cannot write new emails. What's the trick?

Sounds like you did not get the right data in the correct fields when you imported the address book.
When you open the address book and look at one of the contacts info is the email address in the email address field? If not you need to get that right on the import or manually go through and change them all.

  • Desktop Manager Sync doesn't work on new computer

I've been using an 8310 for a number of months now and syncing it with Outlook 2007 using Desktop Manager 4.6 without trouble on a laptop running Windows XP.  I just got a new computer running Windows Vista 64-bit and installed Desktop Manager 5.0.  After setting it up and clicking the syncronize button, the sync status window opens up for a about 1-2 seconds and then disappears, without syncing any information.
I uninstalled 5.0 and re-installed 4.6 but get the same results.  In both cases, there are no error windows that come up.
Anyone else have this type of issue and know what may be causing this?
    Thanks.

I've got the exact same issue. I am trying a clean install of the software to see if that changes anything.
I was wondering if the issue stems from where the information is being pulled from.  When I installed Outlook 2007 on this new computer, I made a backup of my .pst file & moved that over to the new computer.  Since the exact file name is no longer the same, I wonder if that is impacting the ability of the synch process?

  • Missing all audiobooks when installing itunes on new computer

My old laptop broke and I installed iTunes onto my new laptop but none of my audiobooks are there. My music, tv shows, etc. are all there...but no audiobooks.

Restore them from a backup, or put the old computer's internal drive in an enclosure and copy them off, or click here and ask the iTunes Store staff for a free redownload of them.

  • Content in iTunes Media folder is not loaded on new Computer

    1. Yesterday I moved my iTunes Media folder from Computer A to a external HD. Used the instructions found here and everything works/worked great. I removed my old iTunes Media folder and verified that Computer A was indeed super happy and e.g. found and played music just fine.
    2. Today I setup a Computer B, since Computer A is being retired. On Computer B I went to Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced and changed the iTunes Media folder location to be the folder on the external HD from step 1 and checked 'Keep iTunes Media folder organized'. I deauthorized iTunes on Computer B.
I was hoping that these steps would automagically make the contents in the folder appear in iTunes on Computer B, but no such luck.
I am hoping I am missing some easy step.

Make sure that the structure of the iTunes library on your external drive looks like this:
Ideally, the iTunes folder should be in the root of the external drive - however, the key factors are that:
the iTunes folder includes the iTunes database - the iTunes Library.itl file that you should have copied from computer A.
the iTunes Media folder is contained within this iTunes folder
all your music, movies, podcasts, audiobooks, etc. are contained within the iTunes Media folder.
See turingtest2's user tip on Make a split library portable for more information, and details of steps you may need to take to bring your library into this layout.
Assuming your external drive conforms to these principles, connect it to computer B, hold down the SHIFT key while you start iTunes; when you see this prompt:
click on Choose Library... then navigate to the iTunes folder on your external drive, select the iTunes Library.itl file, and click Open.

  • Mac App Store doesn't load on new 27" iMac

I have a new 27" iMac purchased 1/31/13 loaded with Mountain Lion 10.8.2.  Everything came up fine when I got it home and I migrated data from my time machine backup from a Lion iMac.   When I tried to download software updates, the App Store came up with the message that that there was no Internet connection.  Mail and safari were connecting to the Internet just fine.  I called AppleCare and after some troubleshooting, they suggested it was an issue with my network or maybe I should reload Mountain Lion.  If that didn't work, I should go to the Apple Store and test it on their network.  Reloading Mountain Lion did nothing to fix the problem so I went to the Apple Store Genius Bar.  They told me they had had other complaints yesterday and they did not know what was causing the problem but they had tried several things with other customers by deleting cache etc.  They suggested I just wait and see if it gets fixed soon.  I am waiting but find it curious that no one else is reporting this problem on the net that I can find.  Has anyone else seen the problem or have a fix?  I will be calling AppleCare again tomorrow.

AppleCare couldn't find a problem.  Their best guess was it was my network.  It ended up being a problem in the Time Machine backup I was restoring from.  It was bringing something over from the old iMac that was causing the problem.  I ended up doing an erase, reload of Mountain Lion and all the other software, then just taking the data from the Time Machine backup, folder by folder.  It was tedious but it worked.  I can access the App Store with no problem.  Thanks for your offer of help.

  • Having trouble downloading from old computer, to load on new computer.

I need some help. Just bought a used computer and am trying to download some of the info on my old computer (WINDOWS 7) on a flash drive.
My son started the process but had to go. When I came home there was a message window that said something couldnt be completely down loaded and did I want to skip it, try again or delete.
I choose to skip it, then the window came up again and I choose skip it. Then the message window closed and I think the computer quit down loading.
Now I dont know where I stand on the down load. Is it done or is there more to down load and I dont know what to do.
When I plugged the flash back in the popup on the screen only offered import options, no download options.

I switched to the Linus operating system and I'm using firefox now. I wanted to quit using windows.
i have been using windows for a long time and have a lot of favorites, contacts and documents that i can't remember all of them. I want to download them on a flash drive for future reference, if needed.
I know its not a firefox problem but i need help to download my old stuff so i can move forward.

  • Plz help. Created manual backup; won't load on new computer (save FF version). Restore appears to work fine but bookmarks aren't there.

I followed the posted manual bookmark backup posted at this link:
    [http://example.com http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing%20up%20and%20restoring%20bookmarks]
Followed the info and backed up my old bookmarks to a file on a USB flash drive. When I follow the same instructions to restore, everything appears to be working correctly. I say ok to replace current bookmarks with saved file, close...and then nothing has been overwritten/none of my saved bookmarks appear. What am I doing wrong? Are the old bookmarks saved in an area I'm not looking in?

What kind of backup did you make?
A JSON backup or an HTML backup?
Restoring a JSON backup will replace all current bookmarks and importing an HTML backup will add the bookmarks to each of the three main (root) bookmarks folders. You can open an HTML file in Firefox via File > Open File to see all the bookmarks in that file.
Make sure that the backup file with the bookmarks has the correct file extension: .html for a HTML backup and .json for a JSON backup.<br />
You can check that via the right-click context menu of that file and open the Properties.<br />
If you are not sure about the file type then you can open the file in Firefox via "File > Open File"<br />
A JSON backup will show as one long text line without line breaks and a HTML backup as a web page with clickable links.<br />

  • How to Recover Playlists when Transferring iTunes Library from External Drive to New Computer

iTunes library copied to external drive and then loaded to new computer. All songs are there but all of the playlists that I had set up do not appear. I cannot figure out how to retrieve/recover them. The back-up was not done by me so I'm not sure of the steps that were followed. Is there something special that needs to be done when backing up to external drive in terms of saving playlists? Help!

    Hello TNCGRCT,
It sounds like the library was successfully transferred to the new computer, but the songs were imported into a new iTunes library. If you still have access to the external drive, or better yet the previous computer, we will want to transfer the iTunesLibrary.itl file and open it with iTunes:
