Audiobook download to iPod nano

I have downloaded many audiobooks from the library, but after I upgraded overdrive I cannot download from my computer it will not go to overdrive. So I went to library and downloaded books, but they are going into music albums instead of audiobooks. I can still listen to them, but hard to resume reading.

Hi bonniefromogden,
If you have the files in question in iTunes but they are showing up as songs instead of as audiobooks, you may be able to change the file info. You may find the following article helpful:
Customize song and CD info
You can edit information in the Info window to make it easier to find and sort items in your library. For example, you can:
- Identify an item that you imported from a CD as an audiobook, so it appears under Audiobooks instead of Music (click the Options button and choose Audiobook from the Media Kind pop-up menu). If you do this, iTunes also remembers your place in the audiobook.

  • Audiobooks downloaded onto iPod nano from iTunes

I am enjoying using my iPod nano to listen to mysteries that I've downloaded from iTunes. I like to listen to the whole story so I've downloaded unabridged versions. I've listened to three stories so far. They're long, of course, so they download in multiple tracks (e.g., 10). In each case, one or more tracks has ended abruptly and prematurely, switching automatically to the next track. I've rewound and checked and the information apparently isn't there -- the track just ends. SO I NEVER HAVE FOUND OUT WHODUNIT!! It's driving me crazy! (I might need to go to the library to find out!!)
Has anyone else experienced this problem with audiobooks? Is there something I can do when I download the books onto my PC, or from PC to my iPod, to ensure that I receive the entire recording, and that the tracks are complete? Is there a maximum length for a track in iTunes?
Many thanks for any help you can provide.
    Andy Shoyer

I've been listening to unabridged audio books for over a year and have never encountered that problem. I load up to 5 books at a time with multiple sections in each book so it shouldn't be a matter of room. I know this is not the answer but is information regrding the matter. Maybe your download is ending before you get all the information in your pc. My husbands nano occasionally jumps sections in the middle of a book but he just has to stop and go back to where he was and it plays on.

  • HT1320 How do I delete an audiobook from an iPod nano?

How do I delete an audiobook from an iPod nano?

    Hi Krietemeyer23,
If you are syncing your audiobooks from your iTunes Library, you should be able to remove them from there (or set them not to sync), and the next time you sync your iPod they should be removed.

  • Cannot Play audiobooks on my iPod Nano

The Books icon no longer appears on my iPod Nano and I cannot play wma or mp3 audiobooks. The Fitness, Radio, Music, Clock, Photos, etc. icons are still visible. I have used this iPod for some time to listen to wma and mp3 audio books from my local library using Overdrive to download the audio books from the library and then transfer it to my iPod. That no longer works.  It is not a problem with the library or Overdrive. I can still download and transfer audio books  onto my old iphone 3 and listen to them. When I attach the iPod to the computer it shows up in itunes and under Devices shows my iPod with Music and Audio books, but the transferred audio books do not show up under music or Audio books in iTunes either. iTunes doesn't support wma files but it does support mp3 files. I can transfer library mp3 books to iTunes but then cannot move them to my iPod nano.I tried using Restore iPod in iTunes but when that it changed nothing.

I almost gave up on getting the problem solved and then there it was. I have windows 7 and you have Windows 8 and then maybe you have a newer version of the iP0d Nano. I don't understand their pre-this, post-that versions. I only use my iPod to listen to Library audiobooks. I think the libraries are getting away from using WMA files. Apple no longer supports wma files  so I've tried never to load any new updates although I guess I did by restoring it. I think my version is 1.0.2 rather than what you said you had.
I suggest you contact Overdrive Support. Try this email address since it is the one they used to communicate with me: [email protected]
I can't find the email address I used to originally contact support. It was one of those with a bunch of boxes to fill in and then a place to describe the problem. I have replied to their contact with me and asked to verify a support email address. When I get it I will pass it on to you.
I was looking for a player that didn't require iTunes to transfer files and that supported both WMA and MP3 files. WMA is outdated. Apple iPhone etc. no longer supports it. Neither does Android. They say there is an app that will allow playing WMA files but I haven't been able to get it to work. My iPod Nano now works again so I'll stick to it. MP3 audiobooks play as music on the iPhone and on Addroid if you can get it set up so it plays the book in the correct order.

  • Music downloads to iPod Nano from songs that are only available in iCloud.

I'm trying to add music to my sons iPod Nano that myself and my older son have on our iPhone and iPod touch. When I try to copy these songs over to the Nano it tells me it cannot be copied because it is only available in iCloud. It then states I need to download the items from iCloud before they can be copied to the iPod. How to I download songs from iCloud that are currently showing in my music library?

  • Finding audiobook downloaded to ipod

I have downloaded a WMA audiobook to my ipod but can't find it anywhere. Is this the wrong format, or what am I doing wrong? I'm a total iPod neophyte and have to call my daughter every time I want to use this but she can't help me find this.

How did you download it? Normally you will be asked by the download manager for the location. Just try another time, an easy way is to

  • Can MP3 Audiobooks be downloaded to iPod Nano?

Thru my library, they use OverDrive Media Console to transfer books to your device.  Once I transfer the MP3 Audiobook it tells me it is on my device though I cannot find it anywhere.  I believe it is actually just downloaded onto my computer and it shows the "Apple Device" as the player.  This makes me think MP3 Audiobooks are not compatible though I did listen to one recently on my iPod.  I just have not been able to get any more to transfer on!
Thanks in advance for any thoughts....

"I am having same problem although using WMA format."
Neither iPods nor iTunes support WMA.  Assuming you're running iTunes for Windows, you should be able to convert WMA to AAC or MP3 (iTunes uses one of the Windows audio codecs to do this) - see Importing Windows Media Audio files with iTunes for Windows - Apple Support.
Regarding the original issue, Zeph is correct that iTunes and iPod should be able to play any MP3 file.  However, you may also want to investigate Chapter and Verse, a nice (and free!) Windows utility that will convert MP3 files (as well as other formats) to Apple's m4b audiobook format, with full control over definition of Chapters, etc.

I guess that would be where my problem lies. I do not have a back-up copy anywhere, the only thing I have is my Nano. Am I screwed?
As I explained in the first response, you can transfer itunes purchases from the ipod to your computer.
You may be able to buy software that will allow you to get the other music, but this is not supported by Apple.
It is very important to always maintain a backup copy of computer (files/docs/pics/music/contact/calendars/etc).
    Hope all goes well.

  • Entire Itunes library will not download to Ipod nano! All is checked and it says it synced but it will only put the few new purchased songs on my ipod.

My son deleted the music from my Ipod.  I pulled up my Itunes on a new computer with windows 8 and pluged in the Ipod and my music reappeared.  However, I then purchased new music and the new music would not download.  I am not sure what I did but now the new music is on my ipod and all the old music is gone.  When I am in my itunes account all the songs are selected and when I hit sync it is still only syncing the newly purchased songs.  How can I get my entire library back on my ipod?

So you also rebooted your router correct?  Does the iPod still connect okay to other networks?

It was available as a download but Apple seems to have removed it.

  • HT1473 i need a file to download audiobooks to ipod nano 5th generation

I need a file to download audiobooks to my ipod nano 5th generation
    eg. .aa

    Original message:-
I have tried every way but due to my ipod requiring iOS I cannot upload audiobooks. I can only upload audiobooks  made by Librivox. on iTunes
I used another Website called "Audible", where with my Ipod nano 5th generation they gave me a file namely .aa which worked for me and I was able to upload audios of all kinds onto iTunes and my Ipod..
Have iTunes any such files that I can use to do the same please? thank you.
    New Message:-
Sorry my friend but you are not answering my question.
Now you are asking me  "And what do you mean by 'have iTunes any such files' ?"
and "have you checked to see if the site that you got them from have their own app in your country's app store ? Which is UK, is there a difference?
I have an Ipod nano 5th Generation so I use "ITunes" yes? or "Apple" if you prefer that?
Now when I download audiobooks on to iTunes  I cannot transfer those audiobooks from iTunes  on to my ( Ipod nano 5th Generation) because ITunes STORE tell me that I need iOS  which is NOT on my player although when I purchased the player it advertised it downloaded Music and Audiobooks OK?
Yet when I went to another site "Audible" THEY had a file to facilitate my player WHICH allowed me to download both music and audiobooks:)
Now all I'm asking you is does "ITunes" have any such software to allow me to do the same to get my audiobooks downloaded?  Thank You.

  • Ipod nano not playing audiobooks for more than one minute at a time

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?  I stopped using it after I couldn't play an audiobook for more than a minute before it stopped.  A friend thought she had fixed it, but I downloaded another audiobook to the ipod nano and it did the same thing...played for a minute and then turned off.  I want to take it with me on a 8K walk, but it is discouraging.
