Audiobook Not an Option when Importing Audio CD's

I am importing CD's and going through the steps of selecting all the tracks and Joining Tracks and then Submitting CD Name etc...Now when I go into CTR + I and in Info when I go to select AudioBook from the Genre I am not seeing that option. Therefore I can't get any AudioBook imported from an Audio CD to show up under Books in iTunes and eventually my iPhone/iTouch/iPad
Please Help
Thanks

Generally all you need to do is fill in an appropriate Album Artist. For compilation albums where each track is by a different artist you should also set Part of a compilation to Yes. For more details see my article on Grouping Tracks Into Albums, in particular the topic One album, too many covers.
Please note that giving different primary values the same sort value tends to confuse things and should be avoided. The problems may not be apparent initially but can strike as the library grows, or when content is added to a device.

  • Logic Pro X loops not changing key when imported

    Hi everyone,
I am a newbie and I have found a problem when importing Audio files (Loops) from the Loop section into a song I am working on in the project area. When I do this instead of the imported loop changing its key to fit in with the Key signature of the song I am writing it stays in its own key. For example the song I am writing is in C Major and the imported Loop is in A sharp. I have been told that when you import this loop by dragging and dropping into the project area that it should automatically change to the key of the project which of course is C Major but this is not happening and I do not know why?
When I then try to add other instruments in the key of C Major for example a bassline I discover that playing a bass line in C Major is completely out of the tune with the imported loop which is in A sharp. When I play notes from the A sharp scale over this imported loop it is perfectly in tune so its clear that for some reason the loop is not changing its key when its imported.
Any solutions for this would be greatfully received.

  • Possible Bug (or Perhaps User Error) When Importing Audio

During a recent session I wanted to import some vocal samples I purchased. The vocal samples are 24bit WAV and when started to preview them via Logic's browser, things got strange.
When previewing the audio, the vocal samples automatically "fade out" after about 5 seconds, when the actual samples are much greater in length, some up to 15 seconds long. I place the file into the arrange window and after selecting "no" to the option of importing the tempo information, the placed region reflects the previewed audio in that it is much shorter than what is should be length wise. I even have the project tempo identical to the sample tempo. Here's where it gets stranger.
These same samples play in their entirety when using iTunes. As a test, I converted a couple of the samples to AIFF and WAV via iTunes, and then imported these new files into Logic. The files play in their entirety now, however, because they were converted in iTunes they have been resampled to 16bit. As a purist, I like to keep my audio in its original state until mixdown/bouncing from Logic.
Has anyone had a similar issue with their audio files? I'm well versed when it comes to using Logic and this is something I've never encountered before and have exhausted all attempts to solve this problem on my own.
    All help/suggestions much appreciated.
    Cheers.

Thanks for all the input.  The biggest problem I'm having with all this - is the PE-11 on my laptop lets me drag iTunes songs directly to the video project.  The PE-11 on my desktop has the error.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled, on the desktop - but the problem still exists.  Within iTunes, you can right-click on a song and make an mp3 copy (which is then added to your "recently added" tab in iTunes).  I have converted the songs I want to MP3 so I can finish the project.  I didn't have to make a .wav file - and the copyright protection is a non-issue, as my brother is the artist who's songs I'm trying to use on my latest project.
iTunes has relaxed their policy on inclusion of iTunes music in videos (which is why it works on my laptop).  Yes - you still need the artists release agreement for copyright - but according to what I've received from Apple today - iTunes isn't stopping me from putting the songs in - it's got to be an Adobe thing.  Strange thing here is both machines (laptop and desktop) are Dells.  Desktop is an Alienware Auroa R4; laptop is a Dell Latitude E6430 -- both running Win-7.
Once I finish the project - I'll see if I have the same issue with Premiere Pro CS6 - which we have at work.  Years ago - the only way to use a songs from my iTunes library was to burn the desired songs to a playlist on CD, then re-import into iTunes, with mp3 as the default importer - then move the files into the project.  At least now - within  iTunes, you can convert a song directly to mp3 without creating a separate disk - but I'm bothered as to why the mp4 works fine in PE-11 on one machine - but not the other.  Obviously, I can't solve it today (smile) so I'm moving on in order to finish the video project.
Again - thanks for all your help.  I'll advise (next week) how my test of iTunes on Premiere Pro CS6 works (natively or mp3 conversion required).

  • How do I enable the Move Option When Importing (It's Greyed Out)

    Bonjour,
I am trying to figure out why Aperture 2 does not ask to delete photos from camera (Canon SD950 IS) after import or why the "move" option is 'greyed' out. I have searched the forums here and have only seen people offer advice why this is not good. Not to be an A##, but I don't want advice. I need an answer to my question. How do I enable this functionality? I know that it is technically possible as the simple app "Image Capture" that comes with Leopard does exactly this.(Imports then Deletes from my camera) It's just that Aperture cost too much money in my opinion to force one to use an external app to do what you want done, especially since it is not a difficult function to perform as evidenced by aforementioned app in Leopard. TIA.
Hardware: 17' Glossy HiRes Mac Book Pro 3.1 Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 Ghz 4GB Ram
OS: Mac OS X 10.5.3 All updates applied
    App: Aperture 2.1
    A bientot,
    William.

Please don't take the following as a flame...
<quote>The move option is grayed out when importing from a card to save you from yourself. At least that's what I've always assumed.</quote>
That's a bit draconian don't you think? Why have the option greyed out if you don't want the user to be able to do this. It's kind of like saying hahah, this is possible to do, but, you, the user, are a moron. Why even place the option on the page in the first place.
<quote>It just happens to be a bug that few on this forum care to see fixed because most of us feel that using it is unwise due to the danger of lost images and corrupted cards.</quote>
Again, why put it on page as an option if it weren't intended to be enabled in a plist somewhere for those who wish to be 'unwise.'
My logic is as follows: If Apple provides software that is more accessible to the 'unwashed masses' (because it's included with Leopard ie. Image Capture) and it deletes images directly from the camera, then why would a professional package (Aperture) limit the so called 'professional' from designing and using his/her own workflow governed by their own experience. Which could include first a backup to dvd or other device of your choice (keyword here: CHOICE) THEN import images and delete directly from the camera. Logically this is completely BACKWARDS, the app available to the 'masses'(Image Capture) should NOT let the user delete images directly from the camera and the 'professional' app (Aperture) should allow more flexibility for the advanced user who understands the implications of his/her work flow and adjusts accordingly.
Besides, And I quote myself "I have searched the forums here and have only seen people offer advice why this is not good. Not to be an A##, but I don't want advice. I need an answer to my question. How do I enable this functionality?"
Therefore, respectfully, your answer is: non sequitur.
    Best Regards

  • "File Not Supported" Message when importing AVCHD footage into Premiere on Mac

    Hi,
    What I am using:
    Camera: Sony FS100
    Media Codec: AVCHD
    Computer: iMac running OSX 10.8.2
    Premiere CS6
I have a quirky issue I have been trying to figure out.  I just bought a Sony FS100 camera which records footage in the AVCHD format.  When I import the "private" folder the camera creates into Premiere, it brings the footage in but always give me this error message: "File format not supported" along with a list of every clip on the card.  The thing is, despite the warning, Premiere brings in each clip fine into browser window.  I can preview the clips, edit them and export them out of the timeline with no problems that I have seen.  Additionally, if I go back to the "File" dropdown and select "Import Recent File", I can select any of the the files individually again and NOT get the error message when I bring in the clips.  I have imported from the Private folder amd the AVCHD quicktime inside the Private folder and, when I do, I get the above mentioned error.  But if I import any of the .mts folders that Premiere can see inside the AVCHD folder (each .mts folder seems to represent each indvidual clip), they come in perfect without the error message.  Additionally, if I locate the folder through the media browser, it brings the clips in without the error message.  I can then drag these clips into the Project window like I have been trying to do eith the "import" function.  So should I not be using the "Import" function with these files?  I want to because that is what I did with FCP?  Any help would be much appreciated!

The PRIVATE folder contains far more than just the media.  Those additional files are what's generated the message.
The proper method here is to use the Media Browser for importing.

  • ITunes Problem when importing Audio CDs

Since I updated my macbook pro a fortnight ago, I have been having trouble importing audio cds into iTunes.
When I insert an audio cd into my superdrive, iTunes opens as normal. I receive a pop-up message that asks if I want to import the contents of the audio cd. I click "Yes" and the audio cd icon immediately disappears from the iTunes devices list.
I then have to eject the audio cd, re-insert into the superdrive, and I receive the same message in iTunes again. I am able to successfully import the cd the next time.
When initially importing the cd, if I select "No" when asked if I want to import the cd, I can then select all of the tracks in the Audio cd device list and then I can select "create mp3 version".
I tried the same procedure on my wife's macbook pro, and iTunes simply freezes and won't proceed. We both updated our macbook pros about the same time.
If anyone can please offer any insight into this problem, please let me know. I would be most grateful for anyone's help with this issue.
    Respectfully,
    PugetSounder

No insight I'm afraid, but I have exactly the same problem as the first one you describe. I don't think it happens every time, but most times the first insertion of the CD is as you describe - iTunes asks if I want to import, I click "Yes", and the CD disappears from the left hand column in the iTunes display. When I eject and re-insert, it always works. This must be a bug in iTunes. Can anyone explain it? This is on a MacBook using the latest software - but I don't think there has been an update in the last month (maybe I just forgot).

  • How can I 'join' audio tracks when importing audio book?

    HELP!!
In the latest version of iTunes, 11.0.1, I can't find the 'JOIN Tracks' button which is needed when importing an audio CD to keep each disc treated as one book instead of storing each chapter as a separte entry.  Without this, I can't find a way to keep the chapters to play in proper order as each CD, starts with chapter 01.
    Thank you for your help

    Join CD tracks
When you import songs from a CD into iTunes, you can group songs so they always play together (even when you’re shuffling songs).
Insert an audio CD into your computer’s CD or DVD drive, and click No in the window that appears.
When the songs on the CD appear in the iTunes window, hold down the Shift key to select the ones you want to join.
Click near the top-right of the iTunes window, and choose Join CD Tracks.

  • Image not displaying correctly when imported in to InDesign

For some reason InDesign & Illustrator are displaying images correctly. When imported the image is missing layers or the layer is chopped. I have tried exporting the image as a PSD, Tif & JPG. All do the same thing. If I look at the image in Photoshop or MS Word it's fine. I even tried the image in Premiere and it displays correctly

Ignore. Have found out it was down to paths. Sorted

  • Can I change default crop options when importing PDFs?

When importing PDFs into Photoshop CS3, the default cropping is Bounding Box. I change the popup to Media Box, but it reverts when I quit Photoshop. Is there a way to make Media Box the default?

I tried it and a Scripted opening of a pdf doesn’t seem to have any bearing on the dialog’s settings.
If You open with the same settings usually it might be possible to create a Script that opens pdfs with those settings right away – one would have to trade the comparative convenience of dragging the pdf on the psd-symbol and hitting OK for an open-dialog though, I guess.

  • Error when importing audio

    Hi
I'm trying to import audio for a slide and as background, but the importing process seems to start and then I get a message saying "Unable to decode and import the selected WAV MP3 file. What could be the problem? Thanks

    Hi there
What format is the file you are importing? WAV, MP3 or something else?
Captivate will balk if it's WAV format and encoded as MP3. You will likely find you have to convert the file to a different format in order to be successful.
For starters I'd try using one of the files supplied with Captivate and see if they will import. If so, your Captivate install is probably fine and you are dealing with an encoding issue as described above. But if you can't get even the supplied files to insert properly, something is wrong in Captivate town and the problems are deeper than that. In that case, the link below may help.

  • Audio not in synch when importing from passthrough

I am trying to transfer some old home movies from VHS to DVD. I am using the passthrough on my Sony TRV-120 to connect the VCR to my Mac.
For some reason the audio is not synchronized with the video after import, however, when watching from the VHS tape it is fine.
    Any help is appreciated.
    My specs are as follows:
    MacPro Quad Core 2.8 Ghz
    FinalCut Pro Studio 2
    OSX 10.5.4

I see this question on forums all the time and I see bonehead crap telling people to buy new hardware or software or other trivia. There are real-time, easily implemented things you can do that will fix the problem, immediately and without fail
    1. Convert small as small a chunk as you can at a time. If its a concert, do it one song at a time. If a tv show, go commercial to commercial. The shorter the chunk, the less frames dropped and the less lag time and potential for getting really out of synch.
    2. This is the most important factor: frame rate. The most likely reason you are getting out of synch is that your computer is not fast enough to keep up with the frame rate. Most set the rate at 30fps. Try tweaking it down to 20, then watch how many frames you drop as it's converting: most decent conversion software has a read-out telling you. I use Blaze Media Pro myself. If you are getting almost no dropped frames, you can probably bump it up some, if still too many, knock it down a little. There is very little noticeable difference in 15 to 30 fps, in fact, if you plan on uploading it to YouTube or otherwise converting it, the framerate is going to be sharply reduced anyway.
This is an almost foolproof way to avoid video/audio synching problems when converting from VHS. I took the time to post this because I was tired of seeing all the useless advice posted on this subject.
Video editing and conversion takes a lot of CPU power. If you really intend on getting into it in a big way, you'll need a strong CPU capable of handling the load. Other than that, framerate is probably your best bet in making do with what you have.

  • Is there not a keyword "search" option when importing assets?

Sorry if this has been addressed, but is it not possible to keyword search in the import window? It would also be nice to view the items in side-by-side columns, like in any other apple program.

No. This isn FCP internal navigation window unified with camera import. It doesn't have access to the Finder search functioins.

  • Premiere Elements 11 Error When Importing Audio

I have PE-11 on my desktop and my laptop.  I'm getting an error - but only on the desktop.  No matter which film I'm editing - when I go to drag the music file (sound track) to  the "drag audio here" block, I get the following dialogue box, saying "Add Media Failure" followed by "The importer reported a generic error".
That's all it says - and it won't accept the audio file.  Doesn't matter whether I do it in "quick" or "expert" or whether I try to move it to another audio track - I get the same error.
When I drag an audio file to the audio track on the laptop, it works perfectly.
Is there something I can do - on the desktop - to eliminate this error?  I really don't want to reload all the media to the laptop and build out the timelines from scratch.  At the end of the day, the desktop is my primary workstation - so I've got to find a way to solve this.
As I'm dragging the file, I see the desired "plus" sign + but when I get to the layout spot and relase the mouse, the error hits me and the file doesn't transfer
    Any ideas?
