Audiobook or Podcast missing menu artwork?

After reading a few threads and posting some thoughts about audiobook artwork that seems to be missing from either the main menu or the music menu with ipod software, I thought I would do some research. I noticed that on the Apple website where you can preview demo videos for the various ipod models, you can see a short demo video for the ipod nano and the ipod classic (and the others). With both of these ipod models, there is a demo video for using audiobooks and using podcasts.
What I noticed is that the ipod classic demo video for audiobooks does in fact switch to artwork for the sample audiobook (Harry Potter) when the click wheel is moved over the audiobook option, before the click wheel is pressed. However, in the ipod nano demo video for audiobooks, the "artwork" side of the menu screen does not seem to switch to the artwork for the audiobook. What I did notice for both the ipod classic and nano is that the demo videos both show that there should also be some sort of podcast artwork as well. Both videos show a sample podcast from G4 with a yellow screen and both sample videos show this "artwork" (which might just be a random screen shot of the video file, like how the ipod does for movies/videos/etc. for main menu "artwork") on the right side of the menu. This happens to be a video podcast, but it does not provide an example of an audio podcast, because there is not much to see on the ipod screen in that case. Currently, I believe all ipod models have the grey podcast logo that appears on the right side of the menu and lists the number of active podcasts on the ipod (audio and video)...
Does anyone remember if older firmware from last year (when the ipod classic was just released) ever showed audiobook artwork or podcast "artwork" as it is shown in the Apple.com demo videos?

*** Apple! I just bought an ipad mini & expected it to be better than my ipod. Its bad enough that I lost paid audio books that I paid for because they are not covered in the cloud (I will never buy files not covered by the cloud again. And no I don't own a computer because I'm broke after spending money on a ipod that was old in less than a year so then bought your new release ipod & lots of money on itunes.) but geez GIVE ME AUDIO BOOK CHAPTER NAVIGATION OTHERWISE ITS POINTLESS TO USE MY IPAD MINI FOR AUDIO BOOKS AND DO IT QUICK CUZ I MIGHT JUST GO BUY A COMPETITORS DEVICE FOR IT. Get real Apple, I had to buy a Samsung Galixy S3 not because I like it better that the iphone 5 but because I had no choice due to your prices off of one of the major cell phone providers. Maybe I just should have bought a Galixy tab :/

Audibooks and Podcasts main menu items screw things up!

I'll apologize in advance if this has been covered before. I'm new to the forum and I searched around and didn't find anything.
Ok, I've got a weird bug going on. I have a 4GB 2nd Gen iPod Mini. I have the latest (1.4.1) software. I only just began noticing this issue because I just began subscribing to and listening to podcasts last week. Normally, I listen to lots of audiobooks.
Here is my issue:
-I have had "Audiobooks" on my main menu. I just added "Podcasts" to my main menu.
-If I choose "Podcasts" from the main menu, and then go back and go into "Audiobooks", it is a blank list.
-If I then go to Music>>Audiobooks, they are there.
-After choosing Music>>Audiobooks above, I can then view them when I go to "Audiobooks" off of the main menu.
-However, if I DO go to Audiobooks on the main menu, then the list of Podcasts dissappears from the "Podcasts" menu option on the main menu.
-However, if I go to Music>>Podcasts, they are all listed there. And after selecting Music>>Podcasts, they will now appear magically on the Podcasts main menu option.
-Unfortunately, if I go to Podcasts on the main menu, my audiobooks disappear from my Audiobooks main menu item.
AHAHHHHHHHH!!!!! It *****. Basically, it will always work if I choose either Audiobooks or Podcasts from the Music submenu. But if I choose either from the main menu it causes the OTHER to have all the items in it disappear!!!
Has anyone else noticed this??!?

yes.. my audiobooks are showing up under Music/Audiobooks.. and missing from the main men audiobooks, where they used to be. Some kinda bug, as they used to be there. Most of the are from Audible

Weird iTunes 10.6.3 missing album artwork issue

I upgraded to iTunes 10.6.3 yesterday, and I had to restart my Mac for an unrelated issue. This afternoon, I noticed something really weird- all my "Documentary" movies that I purchased through iTunes Store have lost their artwork previews; meaning, if I click on "Movies" in the Library menu at left, then select the "Documentary" genre, and view the movies under "Grid" mode, none of the movies have any artwork along the left side next to the title. It has ONLY affected the "Documentary" movies, but none of my other genres. In fact, I created a separate sub-category for "Disney Documentaries", and those movies are missing the artwork in "Grid" view as well. If I view all Movies in "List" mode, all the movies have artwork EXCEPT the Documentaries. Interestingly enough- if I select a Documentary movie and type "Cmd+I", then select the "Artwork" tab in the "Information" window. the artwork is still there, it just doesn't show in the "List" or "Grid" view. How can I fix this? I am currently rebuilding the Spotlight Index, I've repaired permissions, and even done a verify/repair with Disk Utility, but nothing has worked so far. I've already checked the "Automatically Download Missing Album Artwork" under Preferences, but that didn't solve the problem either. The movies all play fine otherwise, but this little glitch is frustrating me. Please help!

I have this issue. Album artwork was totally fine before. After this update, it is all messed up and even got messed up when transferred to my iphone.
iTunes doesn't have the artwork anymore, but then iPhone has it but shows wrong artwork with wrong albums.
Please fix!

Setting an Item as an audiobook or podcast

Hi, I Like to use the search bar to limit what's shown in my library. For example I always have it up and have the music tab selected. This way when I want to listen to music podcasts or books won't play(nor do I even have to see them) Is there anyways to tell itunes that some of the mp3's I have are audio books(actually they are lectures and speeches) so I can limit them with the search bar.?
I realize there are several workarounds for this, such as playlists, smart playlists, or even just deselecting the box for items I don't want to play. But what I really wan't/need is to make these items recognized as audiobooks or podcasts by itunes.

The only items that iTunes recognizes as audiobooks (for the searchbar and also for display under that menu category on your iPod) are audiobooks that have been purchased from Audible.com or AAC files that have been identified as file type ".m4b " -- such as through running the Make Bookmarkable AppleScript. So you'd have to convert your mp3 files to aac (.m4b audiobook) files with an AppleScript such as Quick Convert, which optionally will turn them into audiobooks.
Podcasts are slightly trickier, because you have to add a PCST atom to their container, the way that iTunes will to all podcasts subscribed to through the iTunes Music Store. I gather you want to do this for podcasts that you've imported some other way, since you can subscribe to any podcast that has an RSS feed by inserting the URL of that feed in the "Subscribe to Podcast" line under the Advanced Menu option of iTunes. Try using Atomic Parsley, which is a general-purpose editor for "atoms". However, it's much simpler to simply subscribe to these podcasts through iTMS. Creating a personal web server, putting the mp3 files there, and "subscribing" to the feed through the Advanced Menu of iTunes is another way to accomplish this, Or if you use Doppler Radio as a podcatcher, you can automate the conversion of mp3 podcasts to .m4b audiobook files such as outlined here.
I think your easiest option is to download the Quick Convert AppleScript, select (highlight) any mp3 files you want to convert (using the "podcast" AAC setting is a good choice), and run it to convert these to .m4b files that will show up under your Audiobooks menu. These files will automatically bookmark, be kept out of music shuffle play, can be separated with the search toolbar (as you want), and can also be played back at sped up or slowed down speeds.

Audiobooks in the right menu!

I bought my first audiobook today in Itunes. The file shows up correctly in the Itunes library under Audiobooks. If my Ipod is connected, it even shows up correctly there, by clicking devices, ipod, audiobooks.
However, on the Ipod itself, it shows up in the music menu.
I called customer service to ask (this is not a big deal, but it bugs me) and they told me that I needed to reset my Ipod and sync everything again. Did that. Did not work.
How do you get this file to show up in the proper place on the Ipod?
I have read a lot of posts about how to do this when making your own books or getting them elsewhere, but, if you get them from Itunes, shouldn't this work? Why would it show up properly on the Itunes (both in the library and in the device menu) and not work on the Ipod itself?

We all have the same problem. Not sure about the demo video on Apple.com, but for some reason, the ipod firmware still classifies audiobooks as just regular audio, despite the fact that we all know they are audiobook files and not simple audio files. Thus, the artwork is randomly generated for the right side of the menu will always happen to show album artwork. I have yet to even see any audiobook artwork when I have the click wheel over the Music option. I have thousands of albums in my ipod, so the chances of seeing any audiobook album art when the click wheel highlights either Music or Audiobooks from the main menu are not that good... I'll let you know if I get lucky one day and actually see it.

IPod sometimes freezes when loading audiobooks or podcasts

I'm using a 2g 8GB iPod nano. Sometimes when I load an audiobook or podcast, the device freezes before it starts playing. The screen will start to slide from the menu to the Now Playing screen, and then just stop before it gets all the way to the Now Playing screen. This has never happened with music though. I've tried all of the usual stuff, like resetting and restoring the iPod, but the problem persists.

Well, I've been experimenting with this issue for awhile now. I think I've found something as it hasn't happened since. Hook up your ipod, go to the audio book listing on your Ipod (not the computer), right click it, click get info, click options, set the equalizer to the SAME setting as you have your equalizer set for music. I use "Deep" for both. Could it be that the ipod is locking up because its trying to change the equalizer on the ipod when you load a book?? That has worked for me for days now....Please let me know if it does not work for you.

Updated to latest I-Tunes. Since then whenever I import a new cd to the library it won't get album artwork.How do I get the artwork. My I-Tunes is set to automatically download missing album artwork but it doesn't work.

Missing menu in SAP GUI for HTML

I have a user experience missing menu in SAP GUI for html every he/she accessed it through Portal but he/she did not experience it SAP GUI for windows.

Missing Music Artwork

Hi,
I recently synced my iPhone 5 to my Macbook Pro (Retina Display) and after doing so I lost most of the album artwork for my songs (I have iOS 8.1 on my phone and iTunes version 12.0.1.26). All of the album artwork is present in my iTunes library for all my songs yet on my phone most all of my songs are missing their artwork. Is there any simple fix for this? I don't understand how this could've happened since I didn't specifically tell iTunes to remove the artwork; this seems like something that would be done manually but instead happened automatically. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I Have the same issue. At all other views, album, song, lists, including landscape view, the artwork are visible. The only problematc view is Artist View; most of artist show the generic silver box! Any solutions????

Missing Menu Options in Flash Builder

I encountered a mystery surrounding several missing menu options in one of my Flash Builder workspaces recently. I wanted to create a new skin for a List control so I right-clicked on my skins folder and looked for the New MXML Skin option. And I looked. And I looked some more. But it wasn't there.
I happened to have another copy of Flash Builder open in another workspace so I gave it a try in that project. Sure enough, the New MXML Skin option was there along with a couple of other options that were missing in the first workspace. Here's a list of the menu options missing from the File --> New menu in this workspace:
Flash Professional Project
MXML Item Renderer
MXML Skin
I'm not sure why those menu options went missing but I was able to work around it by recreating the workspace. I simply created a new workspace, copied all of the projects into the new workspace folder and then imported all of my projects into the new folder. I then had a full set of menu items.
I poked around a bit trying to figure out what went wrong but wasn't able to find a conclusive answer. My best guess is that it has something to do with the fact that I was previously running the Flex 4 beta and that's when I created the workspace with the problem. I compared the workspace .metadata folder and, curiously, there were 25 folders inside the .plugins folder for the problem workspace but only 12 for the newly created one.

This is an eclipse thingy, menus get cached in the workspace' metadata. If you try using a newer build of Flash Builder with a workspace from the previous version, you may notice this behavior.
The workaround is to create a new workspace and import all projects there.

A smart playlist with the rule Has artwork is false will help you focus on the tracks that need artwork.
Option-(or right)-click > Get Album Artwork should get artwork from the store if the album can be recognised. Otherwise Google is your friend, search for the relevant album, copy the image & paste it in to iTunes.
Note sure if affects Mac users but there is a copy/paste bug with the current build (10.4.0.80) which can result in a blank image being pasted. Saving the image locally to your computer, and then dragging in the saved image will work around that.

do you have a strongly recommended default "managed" library (the iPhoto preference to "copy imported items to the iPhoto library is in its checked state) or a referenced library - you have unchecked that option?
It sounds like you have a referenced library and are now experiancing one of the very siginificant drawbacks of a referenced library and one of the many reasons they are strongly not recommended
Also note that iPhoto '11 may use alises in the originals folder as part of the upgrade
It is important that we understand exactly what you have and what is not sorking - what error messages you are getting
You must NEVER make any changes of any sort to the structure of content of the iPhoto library - there are no user servicable parts in it -- and you can not rebuild yoru librtary - only iPhoto ir iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - can rebuild a library unless you are a SQL programmer and understand the structure that iPhoto uses

SRP521W Administration - Missing Menu Options.

Second post, I have a new SRP 527W, I've run through the initial config and am looking at the features available, in comparison the the PDF Admin Guide I seem to have a number of options missing from the menu.
My router only shows Time setup & Switch setting, these look like the top and bottom items ... so I'm missing around 10 items ... including the ability to upgrade the firmware.
According to te status page my router has "1.01.09 (001) Apr 7 2010".
Help much appreciated.

I too was mystified by missing menu items - specifically looking for Logging setup.
I was using the cisco logon and as you say this brings up the quick interface.
My problem is that the admin/admin is not accepted ie is being rejected as Invalid User Name or Password.
The 527W was purchased through Telstra in Australia and was delivered with Firmware 1.0.17 (VP002) Oct 8 2010 - this is also a mystery as there does not seem to be any reference to this firmware level anywhere.
Your help would be appreciated.

P.S. Found a hint in another post that admin/admin only works on initial access after the 527W is reset to Factory Defaults. This worked! Quite a strange way of doing things....

The menus.xml file is normally in your personal configuration folder. Before going to the trouble of reinstalling, try deleting your configuration folder. Details of how to find it are here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/494812.
When you launch Dreamweaver, it should build a new configuration folder.

Missing menu items, iMac OS9 anyone?

I have an old 333MHz iMac, I just installed OS9.2.1 on it but there are some strange problems:
1# There are some missing menu items, like 'Restart', 'Select all' and 'Get info', the keyboard shorcuts don't work for these either.
2# There is a modem in the computer but this does not show up under the 'Apple System Profiler'.
I have reset the PRAM and the System seemed to install OK. All extensions are on.
Anyone any ideas?

You're quite welcome.
When you open the Modem control panel and attempt to connect to the modem, do you get any message indicating the port is already in use? If so, it is probably AppleTalk interfereing - it can do that even if AppleTalk has been turned off. To fix that, in the AppleTalk control panel reset AppleTalk to use a different port - if you need it for the printer, select that; otherwise, select an unused port such as Remote or Ethernet.
It may also help to trash the file ASLM Preferences and restart.
