Audiobook title problem (non audible) on  ipod touch (i.e. part X of Y)

Ok here is my issue, I have all my non audible audiobook content now in the right section (finally!) under audiobooks. When I go to the audiobook subsection on the touch I get a list of audible books (they have their own section) and below all the other books. Fine! If I then click one of the non audible books I get the track list BUT listed as Part 1 of 4; Part 2 of 4, etc. etc. instead of the chapter names (some which I've entered myself in iTunes)
This is where it gets weird. If I click on any title, I see coverflow and the correct title. If I now click the playlisting in the top right corner, I get a list with the correct titles of each track/chapter. BUT if I go back to the previous list (white background) I again get Part X of Y. ;-(
In iTunes all the titles show up correctly so this isn't a tagging issue since I'm very meticulous about this.
Any ideas? The chapter listing is important to find my spot or would like to listen to a specific chapter of an old book
I hope I've explained it well enough. If I'm unclear feel free to write back and I'll try to clarify.
Thanks,
Phillyman

I am also having this problem with an iPod Touch first gen. with the 2.1 software. I imported my audiobooks from CD in iTunes by CD, with each CD's tracks joined into one track. The names I used allows sort by album and then track (e.g. for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's first disc it is "1HP D01 Sorcerer's Stone" where 1HP is the first book in the series, D01 means the first disc). This has worked well and still shows correctly in iTunes and when I sort by "album" each CD is in the correct order. But on my iPod Touch after the 2.1 update each of the discs shows up as "Part 1 of 27". (I am not sure where the 27 came from.) And if I go to coverflow it does show the correct name I entered in iTunes. So I have to click each entry to go to coverflow to see where I am in the audiobook.
I have 12 audiobooks on my iPod that were imported from CD. Each of these are labeled correctly in iTunes. Each of these also has the same problem on the iPod where each disc is labeled "Part 1 of some number" 10 of these books were loaded before 2.1 and two after. All books show this "Part 1..." label which is not the track name.

  • ITunes shows the music and audiobooks I've loaded to my iPod Touch, but they do not show up when I try to play them.

iTunes shows the music and audiobooks I've loaded to my iPod Touch, but they do not show up when I try to play them.  I reconnect to iTunes and it shows the music and books as being loaded on my iPod.
Sometimes the audiobook will play, then disappear from iPod's play menu after I reconnect to iTunes and load more music.  I've got plenty of free memory, and iTunes shows the files still on iPod.
....or should I just roll it back to iOS 5...  never had these kinds of issues with the old OS.

I have a number of audiobooks purchased through iTunes on my iPod touch.  Is there a way to move or download them to the Cloud so that I can access them on other devices?

Thanks - I didn't realize that.  I'm also embarrassed to admit that I don't know how to transfer the audio files from my iPod to the iTunes library on my computer.  When I select a book from the list on the iPod, the only option I see with the right-facing arrow symbol is "Show in iTunes Store ".  I back the iPod up to this computer so I guess those files must be on it somewhere, but all I can recognize in the iTunes folder under " Music"  are the music files found in the "iTunes Music" folder. (There are also a ton of files named "iTunes Temp (some #).) The Books list on the computer shows some but not all of the audiobooks -  I purchased the rest on a different computer that is now unfortunately dead. I'm guessing now that those didn't transfer over when the new computer was populated from the old one, so the iPod may be the only place where those audiobooks now reside.  I hope that made some sense- any additional advice would be appreciated.

  • Hello, I have a problem 4th with my iPod touch

    Hello,
I have a problem 4th with my iPod touch
I just wanted to edit a picture, and then he is always crashed.
Hope someone can tell me what to do.

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • I have a problem updating the new ipod touch 5th generation

I have a problem updating the new ipod touch 5th generation and I need help:
With each attempt I receive the message:
iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode.  You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes.
The iPod only displays a USB cable with an arrow pointing to an iTunes logo.
I receive a "Are you sure..." message with the 2 options, one to Restore and Update and the other to Cancel.
Each time I have selected the Restore and Update button and then moved through the acceptance screens.  Then iTunes begins to download the iOS 6.0.1 Software Update, which usually takes about 50 minutes.  During the download I will receive messages that an iPod has been found in restore mode.
After the download is complete no update occurs to the iPod and iTunes displays the Device Summary screen showing derive Name as iPod and all other items as n/a.
The iPod was working great without any known issues prior to attempting to update the OS.

    Maybe:

Install the latest version of iTunes.
Check security software. Ensure that communication to gs.apple.com is allowed. Follow this article for assistance with security software. iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues.
Check the hosts file. The restore will fail if there is an active entry to redirect gs.apple.com. Follow iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting to edit the hosts file or revert to a default hosts file. See section "Blocked by configuration: (Mac OS X/Windows) > Rebuild network information".
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.
If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.

  • 2 Problems with 2 different iPod Touch models.

Hi, recently I've experienced a few problems with my First Generation iPod Touch, and my Second Generation iPod Touch also. The first gen. was updated to the most recent software, whereas the second gen. hadn't been updated with iOS 4 yet. Neither have been jailbroken or have had illegal software on them. I hadn't used them excessively recently, so that may be a factor. So first, I'll start with the first gen. iPod.
It's been working fine with little problems for the almost 2 years I've had it. A few days ago, I decided to clear almost all apps, music, and videos so I could make room for anything I'd like to put on another time. I put a few things back on it, and unplugged it. The next day, I turned it on, organized some apps, than restarted it (forgot the technical term, just the hold power button and sliding the bar to turn it off) I than could not turn it back on, so I plugged it into iTunes. After charging a bit, iTunes said it was in safe mode and I had to restore it, so I did. After it did restore, I plugged it back in and got the message that the iPod may be damaged and it cannot be activated for use, and that I should see an Apple Store. After searching around a bit, I found that this sometimes happens to Jailbroken iPods, turning them "bricked". None of the methods that I read to fix it worked. I don't really have time to see an Apple Store person anytime soon, is there any advice on how to fix it? It currently has a "connect to iTunes" screen on it, so I cannot use it or restore it again.
On to my second generation iPod, a few days ago I used it, it was out of battery so I charged it, and when I did, it charged, than continually started resetting so I couldn't so anything but charge it. I ignored it. Today I decided to do something about it, so it's currently plugged into my iMac. It charged for a bit, than went to the apple logo screen like it does after you reset it and turn it back on. After it stays on that screen for a few minutes, it goes back to the charge screen, showing that it has no battery left, which is odd because it has been charging for the past hour. The sequence then repeats, with the battery screen going to the apple logo screen and repeating. Because of this, I cannot use it at all, there is never the opening "slide to unlock" screen. It also doesn't show up on iTunes because it isn't on that screen.
It seems I've been hitting some bad luck, I hope that someone can give me tips on how to fix it, if nothing works, I will just bring them to an Apple Store. Thanks for reading.

    Hi there,
I'm sorry I cannot help you with the first generation iPod.
However, with the second one I think I know what the problem is.
The USB port in many cases does not provide enough power for the iPod to charge and the drainage is greater than the input power. This constantly happens with my iTouch. I usually fix this by removing all other USB devices such as my mouse. This seems to transfer more power to the iTouch which eventually after rebooting a few times has enough power to turn back on and then charge. I believe you should either connect it to a wall based charger and charge for 4 hours or leave it connected to your PC with all USB's removed for a while.
    I hope this helps.
    Cheers

  • Syncing Audiobooks to newly upgraded OS on iPod Touch

I can't get my audiobooks to sync with my iPod Touch now that I've upgraded to iOS 5.  I am using Overdrive Media Console on a Windows 7 device and never had any problems transferring my downloaded audiobooks to my device until I upgraded yesterday.  Is there a setting or another app that I'm missing?  When I try to transfer again, the message displayed indicates that the audiobooks have already been transferred, yet I don't see them.

Connecting to a new computer or iTunes will always erase the device first. To save the settings and data you have collected so far, back up manually before the device gets wiped.
Back up manually before by right clicking on the iPod in the device list and choosing "backup". A manual backup does not include the sync process. You can use this backup to restore from after your iPod got wiped during the first sync.
Make sure to have at least one contact and event listed on your computer, to be able to merge contacts and calendars.
Have a look at  iTunes: About iOS backups to see more info about the content of a backup, and How to back up your data and set up as a new device if you want to know more about saving info from the iPod before setting it up in iTunes.

  • Wifi Problem - can't get iPod Touch to connect to Internet

I've seen lots of posts and discussions around this issue but cannot seem to nail down a solution. I have no security or encryption whatsoever with my wireless router & network. Other devices can connect wirelessly with no problem but my iPod Touch, although it shows that it is connected to my wireless network with all the proper DNS settings, it cannot access the internet. Of course, none of the wifi-based apps will work as a result.
Based on what I've deduced so far, I think the issue is that my brand new iPod Touch does not like my older Linksys WRK54G wireless router. That said, my brother's newer iPhone picked up my wireless network fine recently??
Does anyone have any advice? Thanks.

I have read all the posts and did all the numerous solutions/suggestions for 2 days now and what worked for me is this:
I went to Dlink online and went to Wireless connection settings to change the SSID name as if I am using my router for the first time, then changed it to WPA 20 characters! then saved the settings. Do this on the original PC (in my case, a desktop linked to the router via Ethernet cable as I have 2 laptops running
from that router as well. Note, before doing the "Save the settings"
above, I reset the Dlink router (by putting a pin at the back of the unit,
then turning it off and on including my separate Netcomm modem.
You then go back to your Ipod touch/ Settings and Choose the new Network Name.GOOD LUCK.

  • Problems retrieving email on iPod Touch

My Problem:  my iPod Touch (5.0.1) is no longer accessing the internet via my wifi router (at home) even though it is showing a connection to the internet.
The History:  My iPod Touch began having difficulties connecting to the network where I work a few weeks ago.  It would take about 15 minutes for the iPod to recognize the network so that I could bring up the password prompt (via the Safari browser).
I started experiencing a similar problem on my home network this evening (6 December 2011).  It began when I tried to access an e-mail.  The iPod stopped accessing the network even though it was showing that it was still connected to my wifi router.
    My Attempts:
    (1)  I turned the iPod off and then on again.  This seemed to fix the problem, but once I went to access my e-mail the problem returned.
    (2)  I turned the iPod off and then on again.  Again, the problem was fixed but only for a few minutes (or until I tried to access e-mail).
    (3)  I checked that there is information in the DNS of my network information.  It is my understanding that this rules out router issue.  Of course, my laptop computer is accessing the internet just fine, so I knew it wasn't a router issue.
    (4)  I performed a system restore on the iPod Touch.  Everythere was backed up and restored, and the iPod worked ... until I tried to access e-mail.
    (5)  I sent a tester e-mail to all three of my e-mail accounts.  None of them went through this last time that I tried the on-off routine.
My Question:  What can I do to restore functionality of my iPod with regard to my internet connect and e-mail?

    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7544593&#7544593
deleting the account on the iPod touch and recreating it there solved the problem and allowed me to set the address to [email protected] as it should be. These accounts don't seem to sync with the mac, though.
As for changing the server port, I need to stick with 25 because of my work environment, but that did not seem to matter here.
