Audiobooks and Multiple authorized computers

I bought an audiobook on one computer, and now I can't download it in another authorized computer.  Are audiobooks not available to multiple authorized computers?

As far as I know audiobooks can currently only be downloaded once, similar to films (they don't appear to be in iCloud). If you've downloaded them on your work computer then you can eithe copy them them onto something like a flash drive and then onto your home computer and then do File > Add File, or Folde, To Library), or (depending on whether you've got an iOS device and what type it is) copy them to your device and then copy them off that to your home computer (File > Transfer Purchases on your home computer)

<cite>After purchasing music from the iTunes Music Store with iTunes 6, you will also need to upgrade your other computers that purchase music from the iTunes Music Store to iTunes 6.</cite>
Does this mean that authorized computers must be able to upgrade or music will not play?

well compiling out devfs depends is not necessarily all that needs to be done. first off you need to decide what you will replace devfs with. are you going to replace it with udev or a static device tree?
if you replace t with udev then you better start reading to see how to use it properly.
if you replace it with a static dev tree then you will need a few utilities not included in arch and you will have to create all nodes(?) (i think that is the term).
as for devfs in 2.6 it is marked obsolete but it still functions just fine and you may want to use it for now until you have researched your options first. personally i would recommend devfs or udev over a static (and labour intensive) dev tree.
as for the two requests perhaps one of the other users can fulfill them or one of the trusted users because i doubt any of the other developers have time to create a package for unsupported software.

  • RAID NAS and Three Authorized Computers Two MAC  ONE PC

    Hi All,
So I have some time off from work for the holiday. My goal is two have one main library of music that both my kids and I can share.
They have Macbooks and I have a PC. We are all networked here and I have a Dell Raid NAS that I am planning on storing all the music on.
Right now the main library is stored on my Windoze PC and a Briefcase copy is kept on the RAID server. That is for all intents and purposes the main file.
I plan on redirecting Itunes on my PC to look at that library as the main store.
I also plan on having both the kids Mac's look to that store as well.
I do have some questions that I think I have the answer to at least one.
    1) if Child A makes a purchase on her machine when it is not physically connected to the RAID server, I believe that Itunes on the macbook will then save it LOCALLY then when I CONSOLIDATE it will move it to the main RAID STORE.
This one I am not sure about......
    2) if child A makes a purchase on her machine WHILE connected to the RAID server main store Itunes will store the file on the main RAID STORE. However, when child B's Macbook starts and she starts itunes will her itunes see the file that child A purchased in her list of music.
I guess in the nutshell the question is if multiple CPU's are looking at a MAIN storage library and if one machine makes an addition, to the library. When the other Itunes start will it scan the libray and be updated with the addition?
    Thanks for the help
    Nick

Let's say, I would like to NOT use the old PPC Mac Mini as the input method for new music.
I would like to leave the iTunes library where it is (on an external HDD) and simply point the new iMac to this library and update it as necessary. I want to know how can it be done by leaving the external HDD connected to the old Mac Mini.
    Does it make sense?
    Thanks!

  • ITunes for Windows freezes when importing a library. I have a large but not huge library of mostly iTunes purchased music on two authorized computers and would like to sync the files, export the library as a playlist, and import it on the other computer.

I am running iTunes for Windows 10.2.2 on Windows 7 Home. I have my iTunes library on both this computer and another authorized machine running Windows 7 Professional. I have a large but not enormous library, as I'm one of those people who doesn't pirate, use torrents, borrow from a dozen friends, or whatever other shades of gray you might imagine. It's mostly iTunes purchases with my old CD collection imported. I have started using the following technique to sync my libraries between my two authorized computers, an ability which you can probably all agree should one day be added to iTunes -- that would be different from Home Sharing, because the music would be stored locally and thus available on the road. With the added benefit of the entire library being backed up on the other machine in real-time. Anyway, when I switch from my desktop to laptop and vice versa, I use the following technique:
Connect both machines to the home network. One machine is the "Active" machine, which has most recently been used for iTunes media, purchases, ratings, etc.
On the "Active" machine, File-->Library-->Export. Save the file as "Library.xml" on the shared drive of the other machine.
Right-click "Library.xml" where it's been saved, and open another file that has two lines in it: The root path of the iTunes library on one machine and the root path of the iTunes library on the other machine.
Do a find/replace all in Notepad to make the library XML file point to where the files will be saved on the "Inactive" machine.
Run Microsoft SyncToy to synchronize the files between both music libraries; the most recent files win. This avoids copying the entire multi-gigabyte library over the network.
Open iTunes on the "Inactive" machine.
Go to Music, Select All, Delete. Keep files.
Do the same for Movies, Music Videos.
Go down to Playlists, select the top one, hold down the delete button until they're all gone.
File-->Library-->Import Playlist. Choose the "Library.xml" file you saved.
First a status bar comes up that says, "Importing library." It has the continually-scrolling progress bar, not the one that starts on the left and steadily creeps right. Then after about 30 seconds, that clears out. Wait. Typically a few minutes. Eventually a status bar will pop up saying something like, "Evaluating gapless playback information," or something like that.
The "Inactive" computer is now the "Active" computer. I can now play my library, it has all my playlists and metadata from the other machine.
Delete all the duplicate playlists named "Music," "Genius," "Purchased," and "iTunes DJ."
Well, I just upgraded to iTunes 10.2.2 a few days ago and tried to do this again like I've done it dozens of times before. Now, iTunes just goes unresponsive after the library import. It got through the "Importing library" bar to the long wait and stopped. I can still multiprocess and use other programs, but iTunes is hovering back there not responding to clicks. Task Manager doesn't seem to think iTunes is using my CPU, and I don't see my hard drive rattling. Any thoughts on why iTunes might hang up when importing a large library?
... Also, please help lobby Apple to come up with a network sync tool built into iTunes for a user with multiple authorized computers. Something different than Home Sharing so I can pull my laptop off the network and still have the synced library with me. And all my metadata changes will sync. The technique I use seems a little kludgey, don't you think?

iTunes isn't an editor. You need an app that's intended for editing audio files, like Adobe Audition (http://www.adobe.com/products/audition.html) or Audacity (free in the App Store).

  • Upgrading Computers and number of authorized computers

I have two computers at my house. I have gone from Win XP to Win Vista on both computers. I have synced my Ipod to both these computers, with both the old an new versions of windows. Then I just recently upgraded to Windows 7 on one computer. The problem is, the Ipod thinks it is authorized to 5 computers, when it is still only two. Now I want to get a new computer, and upgrade the other computer with all the old parts. The problem is that I will not have enough authorizable computer licenses for these two new computers.
Question: How do I de-authorize computers that I don't have anymore?
PLEASE HELP ME!I don't want my Ipod 2G 32GB to become a desk weight.

    Hello Pebz13,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
So are your saying that either of your machines have multiple authorizations on it? If so, I would check out this Apple support document.
[One computer using multiple iTunes Store authorizations|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1206]
Otherwise, if you have reached your limit of 5 authorized computers, you can always opt to use the *Deauthorize All" option. This doesn't actually deauthorize any machines, but instead, resets the count of the number of computers you have authorized back to 0. For instructions on this method, see this Apple support document.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1420
And as a side note, there is no way to deauthorize a machine you longer have access to. Sorry.

Get all that music back in itunes and sync again.

How can I sync my purchased audiobooks between multiple computers? The new iCloud feature seems to make it possible to sync all my other content (purchased from iTunes) but there is no way/option for audiobooks. Any clues?

Copy them to a disk/hard drive/flash drive/etc, then copy it to the other computer.

  • How to pivot horizontally Author names, and group by Book title. One row per book with multiple authors

I have 3 tables - Book, Author, BookAuthorReference
A book can have multiple authors, and when I do straight query I get multiple rows per book
    SELECT <columns>
FROM Book b, Author a, BookAuthorReference ba
    where ba.BookId = b.BookId and
    ba.AuthorId = a.AuthorId
I want to get the results as ONE row per book, and Authors separated by commas, like:
SQL 2008 internals book    Paul Randal, Kimberly Tripp, Jonathan K, Joe Sack...something like this
    Thank you in advance

This can by done by straying into XML land. The syntax is anything but intuitive, but it works. And moreover, it is guaranteed to work.
    SELECT b.Title, substring(a.Authors, 1, len(a.Authors) - 1) AS Authors
    FROM   Books b
    CROSS  APPLY (SELECT a.Author + ','
                  FROM   BookAuthorReference ba
                  JOIN   Authors a ON a.AuthorID = ba.AuthorID
                  WHERE  ba.BookID = a.BookID
                  ORDER  BY ba.AuthorNo
                  FOR XML PATH('')) AS a(Authors)

According to my account info, I have 4 authorized computers and 3 associated devices: are "authorized computers" and "associated devices" the same thing? I don't think so, but want to be sure.

Only if you physically have the computers in your possession... Then...
Open itunes on the computer you want to deactivate. Make sure you are logged in.  Under the "Store" menu, pull down top "De-authorize this computer"
If you no longer have, or access to, the computer(s) you want to deauthorise,
Log in to iTunes,  go to "view your account info" on the itunes store,  deauthorise all five, (Please Note: this can only be done Once every 12 months)  and then re-authorize your current Computer(s) one at a time.

  • De-authorizing computers and such...

In my account information it says that I have 4 out of 5 machines authorized to play music from my itunes. How can I de-authorize one of them? Any what particular "machines" count AS a machine?
I have my macbook, my iphone, an ipod, an old ipod mini, and possibly one or 2 other computers that my itunes used to be on. Please help if you can!

I realize this is an old thread, but I am struggling with similar issues. iTunes cannot, unfortunately, show you a list of all your autorized computers.
If you are logged into your itunes account, you can see a list of "associated devices" by going to Account information > iTunes in the Cloud > Manage devices.
Apple could truly simplify things if they would either create a way to, or allow, users to see their list of authorized computers. It would seem to be a simple fix to a VERY common issue.
The response listed above by "roaminggnome" is inaccurate. You can, in fact, deauthorize all computers at once -- but be careful: you can only do this once every 365 days. Choose wisely!
In theory, once you deauthorize all computers, you could go back and individually reauthorize the ones you (and your daughter) currently use.

  • I turned on homesharing and authorized computers, but still can't share ibooks

I am confused about what content I can share among authorized computers. Why can I share music but not books? I've turned on homesharing, and authorized relevant computers (mac book 13" and mac book pro 15"). I have an ipad 1 and we have 2 iphone4s
Being able to share between household members seems reasonable.

First make sure you have Home Sharing turned on. This won't work if you only have Library Sharing turned on. Read my post in the thread I've linked to below to learn the difference between Home Sharing, Library Sharing and how to enable them.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/16621158
Now, once you've enabled Home Sharing go to my post in the link I've posted below. Find the one with the screenshot. It will show you the different parts of a window so you know how to import media from another computer using Home Sharing. Notice the Show menu in the screenshot.

  • What happens if one of my authorized computers died and I can't log on to deauthorize?

i need to authorize a replacement computer to one that died completely, and i can't get on the one that died to deauthorize it. please help.

    Hi Animal_Print14,
This article contains information about ways you can deauthorize, and in your case you might need to use 'deauthorize all':
iTunes Store: About authorization and deauthorization
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1420
To deauthorize all computers associated with your Apple ID
If you need to authorize your new computer and are unable due to already having five authorized computers, you can deauthorize all computers by doing the following:
Click iTunes Store on the left side of iTunes.
If you're not signed in to the store, click the Account button, then enter your account name and password.
Click the Account button again (your Apple ID appears on the button), enter your password, and then click View Account.
In the Account Information window, click Deauthorize All.
Note: You may only use this feature once per year. The Deauthorize All button will not appear if you have fewer than two authorized computers. If you need assistance on using this feature, please contact iTunes Store support via email (http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/).
    Cheers!

  • Authorizing computers and devices to use songs bought through iTunes

So I've bought numerous songs through iTunes for use on my ipod and ipod nano. I authorized some of the songs for my boyfriend's computer. Between us, there are 2 authorized computers. The max that you can authorize is 5. My problem is, I've had to reformat my computer and so has my boyfriend. Each time doing so, I believe iTunes counts the computer as a new authorization. Now, I can't even play some of the songs because I have maxed out my authorizations. This is ridiculous because I have spent so much money doing things the legal way only to be "jipped." Any solutions on how I can fix my iTunes to realize that my computer and my boyfriend's computer aren't new authorizations? How do I play my music? Please help.

Thanks for the reply but I tried that with no luck. I tried to deauthorize my boyfriend's computer but it says his computer is not authorized. I don't know what happens when the computers get reformatted but somehow, it takes up the authorization count. I didn't realize I had to deauthorize before I reformat. Now I don't know how to undo this situation.

  • HT204074 whats the difference between managed devices and authorized computers

What is the difference between the 10 managed devices and 5 authorized machines? What cant I do on the Unauthorized device that is a managed device?

This is my understanding of it.
Authorisation only applies to computers, not devices (iPads, iPhones, iPod Touches) - it allows you to play/use your iTunes downloads on that computer e.g. playing music, films etc., and to sync that content to a device. Up to 5 computers can be authorised at a time.
Having a device associated (or managed) with your account, which can be up to 10 computers and devices (and as each associated computer must also be authorised to your account it means that at most 5 of the 10 can be computers) means that you've used iTunes Match, automatic downloads and/or re-downloaded past purchases on them. Once a device or computer is associated to an account it will be tied to that account for 90 days. You can still sync content to a device without it being on the associated list.
A managed computer must also be an authorised computer, so you can't have one that is unauthorised but associated.

  • Start and stop windows service for multiple remote computers

    Hello,
Can someone show me how to Start and Stop windows service for multiple remote computers using Command Prompt or PowerShell or even Java?
    Thank you

You asked a pure Windows related question at a pure Java related forum. We have advised you to look for a Windows related forum to post the question. Nothing special. It's like asking a car mechanican to help you with your migraine, he would advise you to look for a general practitioner.
But why are you so surprised and negative about this answer after all? Don't we have to help you? Don't you appreciate help? So be it then, but please stay away then if you keep this attitude.
