Audiobooks don't show on iPod

Just upgraded to iTunes 7. Tried to download Audiobooks from iTunes (both from Audible.com and iTunes Shop) to the iPod (40 GB). Everything looks normal in the downloading process. I dragged the audiobook from iTunes into the iPod, it showed the download in process. When it finished, the books showed up in the iPod folder in iTunes. But when I unplug the iPod and open up the Audiobooks folder, there is nothing there!
By the way, I downloaded music into the iPod from iTunes and that worked fine-just like always.
Anybody know what's going on here?

  • Songs transferred to Ipod will not play in Itunes and don't show in Ipod

I have had a nano for a good 6+ months and have yet to be able to fill it up with music. Under 200 songs it is a crap shoot whether or not the songs will show up after I eject it. If I load 200+ songs to the Ipod one of two things happen. 1. After ejecting the Ipod none of the songs i loaded show up on it, and after linking it back to the computer, itunes tells me that it must be restored. 2. a good number of songs will not play but are skipped over. The album art shows for a split second and goes to the next song. The next time I plug it into my computer it says that It does not recognize it and forces me to restore it again.
I have done the following among other things.
    1. Repeatedly restored my ipod, this does not help.
    2. Re-installed Itunes and Quicktime.
    3. Loaded only AAC files.
    4. Turned off Spy Sweeper while before plugging in my Ipod and load songs.
    5. Disabled Norton Anti-virus.
    6. Confirmed how I am ejecting it.
    6. Replaced my Ipod once.
    7. Bought a new computer HP Pavillion a1630n.
    8. Invested well over 40 hours of my time trying to get this thing to work.
I have over 200GB of music which and I cannot get much more than 2GB on my 4GB Ipod without a problem. As of this writting I have restored it 6 times, after each time I drag my songs to the Ipod icon, when it is done loading, I press the eject icon next to the IPod and each time I click English-->Music-->Artists--> and after that all I get is All-->All-->Nothing. I plug it back into the computer and have to restore it and start over. I have had the same problem on two Ipods, and two Computers. I want this to work so bad. Help Help Help.

The exact message that I get each time I plug my Ipod back in states, "iTunes cannot read teh contents of the iPod "MILOPOD." Go to the summary tab in iPod preferences and click Restore to restore this iPod to factory settings."
I am continually restoring my Ipod over and over again reducing the number of songs on it over and over until I get lucky enough for the songs to stick. Only about 100 or so will regularly stick. I am now restoring it for the 7th time.

  • Audiobooks don't play on iPod Touch

I'm using 4th generation iPod Touch, IOS 6.1.6. I've loaded a few audiobooks to it and in the past have been able to play them without problem. When I've added new books recently, they show up on the iPod, but when I click Play, it briefly shows Pause then switches immediately back to Play, with no sound. The books will play in iTunes on my computer. The audiobooks that used to work on my iPod no longer work. I've deleted all audiobooks from the iPod and added them back but no change.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all audio books and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Photos don't show on ipod

When I connect my ipod to PC it shows in itunes that i have 1.19gb of other used, but when I go to pictures on the ipod it says no pictures. How do I delete the pictures that are in itunes?

    Ok, update...
I've realised that when I tick sync and press apply in iTunes, it seems to uncheck the box, so when I sync the iPod it doesn't sync the pictures folder. What am I doing wrong?

  • 7.0.2 won't play podcasts, podcasts  don't show on iPod

    Fascinating upgrade.
I can't seem to play any podcasts at all in iTunes 7.0.2, although other items in my music library play just fine.
On the video iPod, no podcasts appear in the podcast playlist even after the iPod is "updated" with new episodes downloaded from the iTunes Store.
I have to say, I've had absolutely smooth sailing for so long with Apple's iTunes and Mac OS X upgrades, this is the first real hitch I've run into. I'm lucky, I know, and I'm not irritated with Apple--although I've been spoiled, I understand that there will always be issues to deal with.
I just hope someone has a fix before I leave on vacation next week--I'd like to load up with podcasts to listen to on the plane flight.
    Many thanks, everyone!
    Bill Wilson

Sounds like lots of people are having this problem. Including myself.
The podcasts are on your Ipod but for some odd reason they do not show up when you are connected to Itunes. If you open a new playlist for the Podcasts you can see them BUT, if you delete them they are deleted from the playlist BUT NOT from the Ipod itself. No one has an answer to this problem!!!
    Sorry this hasn't helped much.

  • Chapters don't show on ipod

    Hi,
I use FCE and iDVD. My chapter markers work in iDVD but when I export it to my ipod I no longer have the chapter choices. I posted this to iDVD too because I don't know where the control for this comes from.
What I want to be able to do is a young child be able to choose his name(Movie title) and then click lessons (chapters) that pertain to him/her.
    Is this possible?
    Lori Hiatt

    Hi Michel,
Didn't even think of that but after some research over there, the center button gives you the ability to advance through chapters but not view them. Sorry for the wrong forum!

  • Folders for playlists/photos don't show in iPod

My playlists and photos have been carefully sorted into various folders to make navigating them easier.
For some reason, my iPod doesn't display:
    - any playlist folders, or
    - folders beneath the 1st level of hierarchy for photos (aka "deep hierarchies").
I'm guessing I'm not the only one to experience this.
Does anyone know why Apple chose to do this, and, more importantly, we can do to circumvent it? Browsing thousands of photos without a folder structure quickly becomes extremely tedious...
5G   Windows XP Pro   iTunes 7.0.2.16

Less than a zillion. More than 42.
It's useful in my line of work for me to be able to create multiple playlists that fall in different groups; there are often 12-20 playlists per group. Being able to maintain this structure would make browsing them on the iPod so much easier. Given Apple's trend to make things easier, why not provide a checkbox for those of us who would like this? Or, better yet, a checkbox and an automated alert when you reach a certain # of playlists: "FYI, you can enable folder structure in your iPod by doing this.."
Same thing for photos: the folders are nested. It makes finding them much easier... example: Trips/2006/Home, Work/Projects/Abstract. You get the idea.
Now I wait for the off-chance that my feature request would be heeded. In the meantime, if anyone has a workaround...

  • I've downloaded audio books successfully to my iPod, but they don't show up on my iTunes.. and I want to delete some.

I've successfully downloaded audio books to my iPod for years but now they don't show up on iTunes, not under Music, not under books or Audiobooks - nowhere!
And I want to delete some...

    Hello, mimi2216.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
This could be a result of Automatic Downloads not being enabled, the apps were too large to download via the cellular data network or a cellular data connection was not available at the time of download.  The best option would be to download the missing apps via the steps in the second article below.

  • Some songs don't show up on iPod, but they are there

I have an 80GB iPod classic. I have all my songs in iTunes, and I have manually synced them to my iPod. When I view my iPod through iTunes, I can see all the songs and play them. However, when I look on my iPod directly, some songs don't show up when I browse by Artist, Song, etc.
The only way to play them on my iPod is to add them to a Playlist, and then they are accessible. However, if I want to listen to Eminem, for instance, I want to just browse to it in the Artist area.
The songs do have all of the appropriate info, and I have tried Restore and still nothing. These songs used to show up on my old, original iPod, so I am for a complete loss. Please help!

This isn't foolproof but there are usually two things that contribute to songs not appearing under Artist on the iPod, both due to information either in or missing from the Get Info>Info tab against the song in iTunes. 1) the song has no album name associated with it or 2) the song is marked as part of a compilation.
If tracks are missing an Album name (as mentioned above) in the Info tab, this information needs to be filled in. The no album one is a bit quirky as the songs will appear under certain circumstances but the simplest remedy is just add None or Miscellaneous in place of a title. See this link for more detail: I don't see some of my songs when browsing by artist on my iPod
Also if the tracks are ticked in the Get Info>Info tab as part of a compilation, they will not appear under Artist on the iPod. Highlight a song in iTunes that you know is not appearing correctly on your iPod. Right click on it and choose Get Info and click the Info tab (alternatively choose Get Info from the File menu), if "Part of a Compilation" is marked untick it and afterwards update your iPod, you should find it now appears as normal. Compilations are stored in a separate folder in iTunes so the songs don't appear inside the normal Artist>Album folder which may be why this happens.

  • Some of my songs are listed twice on my iPod itself.  However, when I plug the iPod into my computer, the songs don't show up twice in iTunes when I click on device/music. How do I get rid of the duplicate songs on my iPod?

Some of my songs are listed twice on my iPod itself.  However, when I plug the iPod into my computer, the songs don't show up twice in iTunes when I click on device/music. How do I get rid of the duplicate songs on my iPod?

that is odd! that should not be happening.
Are you syncing your songs right off of itunes itself? because it should be syncing over to the ipod however it is listed in itunes.

  • My purchased songs don't show up on my iPod

I have one of the first generation iPod Touch.  I've purchased songs and they show up on my music in iTunes but even after synching they don't show up on my device.  Can't figure out how to get them there.  Any ideas?  Since Apple change the version of iTunes I can't figure out how to synch after i buy something so usually end up disconnecting my device, reattaching to my computer and then it synchs.  Apple support have been absolutely of no assistance.

Automatic syncing is controlled (set up by the user) using the iPod's Music tab.  Select the iPod in the sidebar, under DEVICES.  Over to the right (near the top), there is a row of "tabs" (they look like buttons in the latest iTunes), that starts with Summary.  Click on Music there.
Make sure Sync Music is checked.  Below that, you tell iTunes how you want your iPod synced with music.  If your entire iTunes music library will fit on the iPod, you can select Entire music library.  Then, any change to your library (such as purchasing new songs from the iTunes Store) should automatically sync to the iPod.
Otherwise, if the entire library will not fit or you don't want to fill up the iPod with only songs, you need to set up syncing based on Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Below that setting, set up the rest of the Music tab to tell iTunes what playlists, artists, albums, or genres to sync.  Only the songs included in your selection will sync to the iPod, so if you purchased new songs, they will not sync to the iPod unless thay are included in the selection on the Music tab.
One easy way to set it up is to create a new playlist in iTunes, and call it something like "iPod songs."  From your music library, add ALL the songs you want on the iPod to this playlist (including those new songs).  On the iPod's Music tab, select this playlist for syncing.  Going forward, any change you make to this playlist (adding or removing songs) will sync to the iPod automatically when it is connected and you tell it to Sync.
You can also set up the other tabs, such as Movies and Podcasts (and Apps for an iPod touch), to set up syncing for those other categories of media.  Just make sure the total size of the selection is less than the capacity of the iPod (shown on the "bar" near the bottom).
All of the above has not changed for the latest version if iTunes.  It works the same as before...

  • All of my audiobooks do not show up on my actual ipod classic...help

All of my audiobooks do not show up on my ipod all of the sudden......I have tried resetting and it does not help.

This is a small...."Bug" I guess you could call it, in the ipods software where if you have songs by one artist and none of them have a album listed with them, they do not show up under "Artist".
I forgot the exact workaround, but I think its something like if you give one song by the artist a album name (By rightclicking it in iTUnes, hitting get info and selecting the info tab) all the rest of the songs will now appear under artist on the ipod

  • Videos don't show up on iPod video playlist

Maybe I'm not understanding something, but I subscribe to a coupld of video podcasts. They update fine off iTunes and they synch over to my iPod. The problem is, they don't show up in any of the video playlists. They show up under the 'recently added' list of both music and video files.
How can I get these things to list in the Video Podcast playlist?? Thanks for your help and thoughts!

    Julia,
Do you have a Fifth Generation iPod, or not?
Only Fifth Generation iPods are compatible with any videos, which include video podcasts that you try to download onto it.
So, if you have a Nano, for example, it isn't won't be capable of playing any video files, sorry.
