Audiobooks from CD
I have some audiobooks on Cd. they are proper genuine copies. I just can't get them into the audio books section of the itunes library. can anyone help please?

After importing the tracks into itunes you need to right click on each one and convert them to ACC. After that you need to locate each file and change the filename extension from .m4a to .m4b and reimport them back into itunes. You'll also need to change the genre to books & Spoken.

I deleted an audiobook from Itunes on my computer, emptied my trash, they attached Iphone 5s to computer to sync computer to Iphone thinking that by deleting the audiobook from Itunes, the audiobook would then be deleted from my Iphone. Looking for some assistance. I downloaded an audiobook from iTunes. It was 11 hours long. Originally it worked on my iPhone, but stopped working after 44 minutes into the book. I tried to re-load the book but it would only load a portion of it and would then would not play. I then was able to get the same half of the book loaded into my laptop, but then not onto my iPhone. Anysuggestions, other than re-purchasing the book?

I downloaded a WMA audiobook from library using Overdrive. It shows up on my Itunes listing of Audiobooks on my Ipod, but on the actual Ipod it only shows up on Playlists. It is marked as an audiobook in Options | Media Kind. It is also marked to Remeber Position, but it does not do that. How do I get it to show up under Audiobooks and remember the position? I have a 4th Gen Ipod running Ios5

I downloaded a podcast for an audiobook from Librivox on "A Jury of her Peers." It shows up in my library, but when I try to play it nothing happens. No audio. It's doing the same thing if I try to log in & play it at work. Home computer runs Windows XP, work runs Windows7.
ah, ok yes i did do that last night. I just did it again and relized that ther is a "Downloads" tab. I selected it and stated that there was a download error. I'm currently retrying it now. and it is now showing in my videos.

I purchased an audiobook from iTunes On my iPhone. I got a new phone and after the back up, the books I downloaded were not there. iTunes wants me to repurchase the books I downloaded. Is there a way for me to Redon load my already purchased books?

On your new iPhone tap Settings > Store.
Make sure Books is turned ON.

How do I get an audiobook from my iMac to play on my iPhone?
I downloaded au audiobook from iTunes onto my iMac, but I really want to listen to it from my iPhone. I can't seem to get it to transfer to my phone, any suggestions? iTunes on my phone keeps trying to get me to buy it again.
Click on the Audiobooks icon at top left of iTunes window. It should be there. You can then drag it to your phone, or in File > Devices you can Sync iPhone.

Is it possible to move audiobook from the playlist to the book section on my ipod touch
In the past I was able to download audiobooks to the ipod touch using Overdrive Media and itune. The audiobooks went into the audiobook or book section on my ipod and everything worked great. With the new software upgrade to itune, the audiobooks go into a playlist and things are not so great. An example - the audiobook in the playlist will not remember my position when I turn the ipod off and then turn it back on. It will remember the part of the audiobook but not the chapter. It always goes back to chapter 1 of the part in use.
SOMEHOW, using the new software, I was able to move the audiobooks from the playlist on the ipod to the audiobook section on the ipod and again, everything works great. However, all new audiobook copied to the ipod go to a playlist and I can't, for the life of me, remember what I did to move the audiobook from the playlist on the ipod to the audiobook section on the ipod.
Help!I am having the exact same issue with Overdrive and iTunes (I download library books) - this all started after I upgraded to the new version on both iTunes and my iPod Touch. I also was able to get one book to move from the playlist to the audio books section, but cannot get it to work again (actually, it now shows up in both). The first time that it worked, I restarted the iPod. What is really strange is the books transfer from Overdrive to the Book section in iTunes, but it does not appear on the iPod. So basically, what is seen in iTunes when the iPod is connected, is not what is visible on the iPod Touch. This is really getting to me as I mostly use my iPod for listenting to Audio Books. I agree HELP!

I have the same issue, I purchased an audiobook through iTunes on my phone. When I sync my phone, the book is not checked to be synced. When I try and swipe to delete, the button does not appear. I can swipe to delete music, but not audiobooks. Is this inherent in the iOS?

While installing a program (MediaCenter.exe) to handle audiobooks from the library, I erroneously associated the download site with Windows Media Player instead of the actual application (NetLibrary Media Center). How can I reverse/change this? Reinstalling the application does not clear the error, so I'm assuming the association is somewhere in Firefox.
Never mind -- I just found it under Tools/Options.../Applications, where I changed the incorrect association of "nlmcp" from Windows Media Player to the correct one, NetLibrary Media Center. Done!

When I try to download an audiobook from my iTunes Library I get the message that 'it was not copied because it cannot be played on this iPod. I had just downloaded another audio book from the same library to the same iPad so don't know what the problem is? maxabw

First of all, look on the iPod to see if the song is actually on there. (The last Sync of my Classic resulted in "song not copied... because it cannot be found." The song had previously been on the iPod. I checked and despite the fact that iTunes could not find the file, the song was still on my iPod. I checked the folder and the song was exactly where t was supposed to be. So I simply set iTunes to find it again. What happened? I don't know, iTunes simply threw a wobbly!)
Second, try another Sync. Does this change anything? If the song was on the iPod, does a second Sync remove the message? If the song was not on the iPod after the first Sync, does the second one put it on there?

I just purchased and downloaded an audiobook from iTunes. I tried to sync it to iPhone 4 and iPod Classic but with both devices got a message"file could not be read from to written to". Then I tried to play the audiobook in iTunes and realized that only part 2 of my 2 part download will play. Part 1 will not play. Is this why I got the message? Is there any way to get another try at downloading my audiobook I just paid $15 for??
Click the Shuffle button at bottom left of iTunes window so the crossed arrows are not blue.

Can no longer transfer audiobooks from overdrive to ipod nano 6. Diagnostics: Connectivity test-ipod found. Sync test -ipod not found. This problem began about 2 weeks ago. I downloaded itunes update 12.1.0.71 about 1 week ago. I'm on Windows 7.
Do you mean a playlist created by Overdrive?
I downloaded the newest version of ODM yesterday. Couldn't do it from within the application, had to uninstall/reinstall it. Here's what's happening now with WMA, which is my preferred format:
-Instead of just moving the audiobook and cover graphic and all that over as in the past, now ODM creates a separate playlist under 'Books' in your device. Problem is, only some (seemingly random) tracks go over there. The others just show up under 'Books' but not in the specified playlist, so you have to drag them over in iTunes.
-If you stop listening, it starts over from the beginning next time you're ready to resume, so if you expect to find your place again right away like in the good old days, think again.
-For me the WORST PART is only so much data of that sort is permitted under 'Books' so it seems, because after a certain threshold the transferred parts of books become greyed out and cannot be played. You are limited to far less data in a period of time than previously. I used to be able to keep several books on my device at once and listen to multiple things depending on my mood etc. Now I can fit about 2-3 big books, or 4-6 smaller ones, MUCH less than previously was possible, which is a problem if you've waited for a popular title at the library that you don't have the room for (even though you have plenty of memory in the device).
All in all, I think ODM need to get their act together. We should not allow them to think they are done with this upgrade, the fixes might be okay for temporary, but they are unacceptable for a permanent format. They have a phone number on their website. I left a message. Others have been tweeting them too, not sure of the contact info.

I have purchased two audiobooks from iTunes. They play perfectly for about 13 minutes and then abruptly stop. I have purchased other audiobooks and have not had a problem. Please, any ideas on why this is happening and what can I do to fix it. Thanks!
As long as you use your computer like King Penguin stated for Report a Problem, you should be fine. If you can't get to your computer, are not using your computer, or your computer is not longer in the mix since you have been using your iPad, email iTunes support about the problem.

How to CORRECTLY Remove Audiobooks from iPhone
After much trial and error, I have finally unlocked the mystery of how to remove Audiobook files from the iphone without changing the file name or type. Here are the steps:
1. Plug in your iPhone to your computer
2. Launch iTunes
3. Click on the left-hand menu option that says "books"
4. All the audiobooks (such as iTunes or Audible) will be here with cover art for each one. If you right click on these titles, you will have the option to "Uncheck Selection" or "Check Selection" depending on whether or not it is on your iPhone.
5. If you want to remove an audiobook from your iPhone, simply right click and select "Uncheck Selection"
6. Sync your iPhone
7. If you are still having problems, you have probably changed your sync options for music. Change them so that you are only syncing selected items(there are 2 different places to control these options, the "Summary" tab(which should have the "Option" "select songs and videos..." checkbox checked) and the "Music" tab(which should have the "selected playlists, artists,..." checkbox checked).
8. Magically those pesky audio books that you know and love are no longer on your iphone

Write Apple a nasty email and ask why $10 million in audiobook revenue hasn't warranted a software change to make this easier to understand and do.Thanks for the suggestion and I can certainly do that but it seems less then ideal. I actually already had set my iphone to only sync selected music playlists and until I read your suggestion I didn't realize that a new playlist had been created and checked to sync! I wonder why Apple treats Audiobooks inconsistently from an interface point of view to podcasts. Both show up as Library items in the Itunes pane, both have special category buttons to access in the ipod application and both store the listening position you were at when they sync back to itunes. Yet when it comes to how to specify sync preferences to the iphone one has it's own tab (podcasts) that allow you to a number of useful options such as ALL, SELECTED or ALL UNPLAYED and audiobooks get a playlist that only shows up on the iphone music sync panel and is either all in or not ???! Wow Apple's UI watchdogs must have been asleep at the wheel! I would have expected the exact same treatment as podcasts perhaps just putting another listbox of books and the same choices as podcasts on the same tab in the iphone sync UI panel.

Open iTunes.
Select the device.
Select the content desired to sync.
Sync.
FYI, only the 1st Gen ATV has any content sync to it. The 2nd and 3rd Gen ATVs have no internal storage to store content.
