AudioCodes MP-118 as gateway from Lync to a Bogen intercom system

I have an Audiocodes MP-118 gateway that I need to configure as a bridge from Lync to a Bogen intercom system. I followed this guide http://www.lynclog.com/2011/04/analog-phone-support-with-lync-2010.html and that worked great for the intercom phones to
call out. They can call Lync extensions or call out to the outside world.
Where I'm stuck is that I can't call into the intercom system from my Lync phone.
So the intercom system is it's own closed phone system. The MP-118 is providing the dialtone for outbound calls (as if the MP-118 were a telecom provider) and the intercom is providing dialtone to the MP-118 for inbound calls.
I need to be able to call the assigned number and have the MP-118 pick up the Lync call and pass me the dial tone from the Bogen intercom system. I can then dial room numbers.
I created an Analog Device as described in the above guide. I can find that analog device in the Lync directory but when I call it I get ringing then disconnected. I suspect the problem is that Lync doesn't know where to send the calls. Like if it were a
normal user it would be logged in, the MP-118 isn't "logged in" to Lync.
I hope I'm explaining myself correctly. I'm very new to phone systems.

Hi,
From your description above, it can be the issue of the dial plan. On Lync Server side, please double check the dial plan, make sure you set the correct translation rule for the numbers in Bogen intercom system. Make sure it collocates with the suitable
Route and PSTN Usage.
On MP-118 side, please double check the configuration as well.

  • Lync to Lync calls not working when users outside of network. But calls from Lync to external numbers do work.

    Hello,
We are having the following issue: when our lync users are outside of our network, just connected to their home internet or a public WiFi  and not on VPN, they cannot place calls to other
Lync users inside our network. They get a poor network connection message on the call window. But they are able to make calls from Lync to external numbers without a problem.
Inside our network, Lync to Lync calls work perfectly fine, the same for calls from Lync to external numbers.
Does anybody know what could be the cause of our issue? Perhaps I'm missing a setting on our Edge server. What should be the first thing I should check on my Lync servers?
    Thanks for any help!

Have you opened up ports on your firewall from your internal clients to the edge on UDP/3478 and TCP/443?  This sounds like you might have a problem there.  Can you internal clients properly route to this subnet and resolve the pool name of your
    edge pool?
Ports and protocols poster, check out in A/V section client traffic to edge showing UDP/3478 and TCP/443:

  • Skill Search works fine from search center, but it doesn't work from Lync client

My environment consists of Lync Server 2013 and SharePoint Server 2013.
I configured skill search and it works fine from search center, but it doesn't work from Lync client. An error appears says"error occurred during the search, please try again".
I configured these URLs in my client policy
    set-csclientpolicy -identity global -spsearchinternalurl http://<Sharepoint Server>/_vti_bin/search.asmx
    set-csclientpolicy -identity global -spsearchcenterinternalurl http://<Sharepoint Server>/searchcenter/pages/peopleresults.aspx
I checked these URLs from the browser and they work fine.
I disabled anonymous access to _vti_bin, but no change then i checked lync log but i didn't find any error then i used Wireshark and found that when Lync client contacts Sharepoint, Sharepoint responded to it with internal server error http 500

  • Prevent external calls from Lync mobile

I would like to allow people from my compagny to use lync mobile but I don't want them to call external number from lync mobile. ( for cost reasons, in order to avoid phone call initialisation from the compagny)
    some precisions:
    We are using lync 2010.
All people have a lync account and can call external number from their lync desktop.
So is there a mean to prevent people calling external number from lync mobile?
    Thank you

    Hi,
Agree with Anthony, If EnableMobility is set to True and EnableOutsideVoice is set to False, the user can run Lync Mobile but will not be able to use Call via Work.
Please make sure when you running the cmdlet you are a member of

    Hi
The solution is to do a ‘repair’ install of Office 2013.  This will reregister the needed components and the popups will stop.
A repair install can be done from ‘Programs and Features’, highlight Office 2013 and click ‘Change’.  When the install wizard appears, choose the ‘repair’ option.

  • Exclude Excel 2013 interop from Lync 2013 updates

Is it possible to Exclude Excel 2013 interop from Lync 2013 updates? We have Excel 2010 installed and have custom COM applications that use Excel 2010 interop to automate it. When Lync 2013 is installed/updated it installs Excel 2013 interop and causes
the COM application to not recognize the Excel 2010 interop without manually deleting the Excel 2013 interop from the registry.

When you run setup.exe from Office 2013 installation media, you can customize installation and make Excel 201 not available to install.

  • Remove all pictures from Lync

Hello, we're running Lync server 2013, with some 2013 clients and some 2010 clients. management has recently reversed approval for and has directed that profile pictures be taken down. Pics are removed from AD and no longer appear in Outlook, but Lync
continues to show them. How can these be removed from Lync? This is not turn off show pictures on local clients, but remove them completely from a server standpoint so they are not there to show. Thanks.

Your photo's are probably still present in the Lync Address book directory (ABFiles) in your Lync File Store, where they are cached.
You could delete the contents of this directory and force addressbook generation. When the client updates it's address book pictures should be gone.
Another solution already given by BenDonaldson, you could disable contact pictures in Lync completely by changing the clientpolicy applied to your users. (
    Set-CsClientPolicy -Identity "Global" -DisplayPhoto NoPhoto)

  • CMS database move from Lync 2010 to 2013 went well but.....

Something odd when I was done. Everything went perfectly. No errors at all and went as expected. I noticed though after everything was done and I had not yet uninstalled the CMS from Lync 2010 that two services on the Lync 2010 were stopped but in an Automatic
startup state. They are the "Lync Server File Transfer Agent' and the "Lync Server Master Replicator Agent'. Thought it was odd they were both stopped. I am sure it had something to do with the CMS move and all the scripting that goes on. The rest
of the Lync services are running.
I am thinking though if they were supposed to be stopped, why not disable them. Why leave them at Automatic. I am not seeing any errors or warnings at all on the Lync 2010 or 2013 servers. Application, System and Lync Server logs are clean. Everything appears
    to be OK.
Thing that concerns me though is when I run the Get-CsManagementStoreReplicationStatus on the 2013 FE, the databases all come back looking good with UpToDate = True but the last replication was last night (about 8-9 hours ago) shortly after I completed the
    procedure.
I want to just uninstall the CMS on Lync 2010 which is the last step but I want to make sure everything is OK before I do. Not sure if I should start those services. I never rebooted the 2010 server after moving the CMS. Seems if I did, those services would
have tried to start. Very confused here.
Wanted to add also that I have both the above services on the 2013 FE server and they are both running. And, when I run Get-CsManagementStoreReplicationStatus -CentralManagementStoreStatus on my Lync 2013 FE, it says it is the active master and active file
transfer agent so maybe that is why the services are stopped? If so, what if I had rebooted the 2010 server. Those services would have tried to start because they are set to Automatic.
I guess the real question here is how often should the Lync servers being updating their replicas with each other. We have a very small environment right now with only a few hundred users.

This process of transferring information updates from master to replica is called replication. The replication process consists of copying information between directories from the master to the replicas, applying the changes received to the
replica and report status back to the master.
The MASTER generates the data package containing new changes to CMS and stores a copy in each to-replica directory for every replica.
The data package must be copied to all replicas. All Lync Server 2013 servers, except the Edge Server, uses the Windows file copy SMB protocol mechanism to push the data package from the CMS master to the replica.
For Edge servers, since Edge servers is not a member of domain, the file copy is performed over an HTTPS channel. The Edge Server runs a Web Service on the port specified for the ManagementServices in the topology document. The default port is 4443. Even
you Move CMS store and CMS Master service from 2010 to 2013, the replication is a logical concept so you can replicate CMS information with the help of Lync server 2013 CMS master service.
You can refer to the link below, it is for Lync server 2010 but similar for Lync server 2013:

  • Lync 2013 migration from Lync 2010

    Hi All,
I have a problem after I've successfully migrated our Lync environment from Lync 2010 (what was migrated from OCS 2008 R2) to Lync 2013.
When I would like to delete the old Lync 2010 Front End server from the topology I cannot do that, because there are some TrustedApplicationPool registered to that. And I cannot delete this unused TrustedApplicationPools, because I got the following error:
"Remove-CsTrustedApplicationPool : Cannot remove legacy trusted application pool. Use the legacy tools to remove the pool, then run Merge-CsTopology."
I've tried that many ways, I've tried the merging etc. but it was unsuccessful. Has anybody any idea, step-by-step or something what can helpful to me?
    Many thanks,

  • Moving CMS from Lync 2010 to Lync 2013 - WIndows Firewall??

We currently have the Windows Firewall disabled on all 3 of our Lync 2013 FE servers. We just don't use it and it gets in the way of some other applications. I remember when I was installing Lync on these servers, I had to enable the Windows Firewall or
setup would fail. Now that Lync has been running for a while, I have the Firewall disabled again.
Now, I am moving the CMS from Lync 2010 to 2013 and I am wondering if I should again enable the Firewall? I am concerned that the commands I need to run to prepare the 2013 FE server and the Move-CsManagement-Server command itself will fail if Windows Firewall
    is disabled.
    Does anyone know?

    Hi,
As I know, if you want to disable Windows firewall for getting in the way of some other applications you can
just turn off all three (Domain, Private, Public) profiles or disable the Windows firewall service.
If you just turn off all three (Domain, Private, Public) profiles, it means that during the install, Lync Server will add all the firewall rules to the Windows Firewall, so if after you turn on all three profiles all you need to do is turn the Windows Firewall
back on from the inside the Control Panel.
If you disable the Windows firewall service it means that the Windows Firewall snap-in won't even load. So during the install Lync Server won't be able to create the firewall rules. So after Lync installation you can enable the Windows Firewall service is
to run Step 2 from Lync Server Deployment Wizard.
    More details:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/dodeitte/archive/2012/05/25/how-to-update-windows-firewall-rules-for-lync-server-2010-after-installation.aspx
So if you just turn off three (Domain, Private, Public) profiles, you should be OK to move CMS from 2010 to 2013.

  • Retrieve HP IP phones serial numbers from Lync Server

    Hello everyone.
I'm wondering if there's anyway to retrieve HP phone serial numbers from Lync Server using a script or any method there ?
If there's not, Is there any tool that would extract the serial numbers of the phone from HP Phones? I know until now there's two HP phones that's compatible with Lync.
    4110 and 4112.
    I would appreciate any comment.
    thanks
    Mohammed JH

    I got it,
This batch file will do the job, I created a folder on Lync and made it available for me on the network so I can get a daily report of the HP connected phones along with serial numbers.
    The folder name is C:\PublicFolder
The below batch file will check for the word (HP) on the Lync imageupdates folder and will send all files which have HP inside them to the public folder.
I will run a schedule task on daily basis to do this.
    Thanks.
    setlocal
    set SourcePath=C:\Lyncshare\1-WebServices-7\DeviceUpdateLogs\Server\Audit\imageUpdates
    set TargetPath=C:\PublicFolder
    set FileMask=*.*
    set Search=HP
    for %%a in ("%SourcePath%\%FileMask%") do (
    echo Processing %%~nxa ...
    findstr.exe /r "\<%Search%\>" "%%a" >NUL
    if not errorlevel 1 (
