Audioconference  with PC in a LAN

Hi there,
i have an audioconferencing JMF application that works between PCs if i know their IPs, but ...
when i try to connect between a PC in a LAN that conects to Internet through on a router, i dont know its IP. I just known router's IP, and it doesn't work.
I solved the problem modifying configuration of the router, basically with NAPT, but this is not good, because users usually can not access to the router.
Any suggestions?? I think Messenger and Netmeeting use a code to scan free ports or anything else.
Thanks in advance

Hi trilcejf,
Did u find any solution any workaround? I am also facing the same problem.

  • How interface N5181A MXG signal generator with labview by using LAN Interface????????????

hai every one ...i have a doubt how  to interface N5181A MXG signal Generator with Labview by using LAN Interface???? and
how to find IP Address of N5181A MXG signal Generator????????
when i connect instrument with labview it shows that no instrument connected and what are the requirements for LAN interfacing with that instruments in labview and please help me??????

You can set the IP Address on the instrument.  You may need to be in the same subnet of your controlling computer, so you may need to set your computer's IP Address to something static.
Use VISA.  It makes life easier if you decide to use another bus (like GPIB, USB, serial, etc).  In MAX, create a network session with the static IP address you set the instrument to and use that as the VISA Resource.

  • How to use snp heuristic with two direction transportation lanes?

    Dear Expert,
now, i want to run snp plan for two location 1000 and 2000 with heuristic method.
at the difference point of time, i run difference snp plan. for example, this month i run snp with transportation lane from 1000> 2000 for product A113 and A124. but in three next month i want to run snp with transportation lane from 2000-> 1000 for A113, A124 and A224.
so i don't know how to config snp to do this. 'cause i know with two direction transportation lane the system will have a loop.
    please help me.
    thanks so much.

    Hello,
If you just use location heuristic, the system is OK with the cycles. You can just run it.
Even if you use network heuristic, the heuristic can also run. The only problem is that the low level code may not be correctly determined, which cause the sequence of the locations incorrect.
And you also have the following options:
1)Block the unused the transportaion lane when you want to switch to the other way.
2)Use BADI /SAPAPO/PWB_SOS method PWB_USEX_SOS to filter the unused transportation lane.

  • [solved] Troubleshoot ssh with keys (works from LAN, not WAN)

I'm trying to set up ssh so that I can connect to my work computer from home. It is pretty much essential that I keep the work box as secure as possible at all times. (So I can't disable the firewall, come home and test it because IT would not be at all happy.)
I'm not sure if this is an Arch question, a Fedora question or a general Linux/networking question.
The work box is running Fedora 17. It has a firewall eerily like the "simple stateful firewall" described on Arch's wiki. It is running sshd. Public key authentication is enabled. No other form of authentication is enabled. It has a rule allowing ssh connections.
My laptop is running Arch. It has a firewall very like that described on the "simple stateful firewall" page. It has a couple of rules allowing stuff I need at home (printer and something I had to enable for the LAN).
Initially, I was given an internal ip address. I got this working fine i.e. I could ssh into the box from my laptop while sitting next to it in my office over the LAN. I'm using the default form of key pair generated on Arch (i.e. rsa) and am using gpg-agent with ssh support in lieu of ssh-agent to manage keys. Pin entry is using the qt front end as I'm on KDE. (I adapted KDE's config so that it starts gpg-agent with ssh support for the session so that I didn't end up with two instances.)
Once the firewall was in place and sshd was running, they gave me a public ip address. At this point, no port was opened in their firewall to allow WAN connections but I tested the public ip address from within the LAN and it once again worked fine.
Once I'd confirmed the machine could connect out after getting a public ip, they arranged for the port to be opened for ssh. However, I cannot connect to the machine from home.
$ ssh -vvi .ssh/id_rsa [email protected]

debug1: connect to address xxx.xxx.xxx.x port nn: Connection timed out
ssh: connect to host xxx.xxx.xxx.x port nn: Connection timed out
xxx.xxx.xxx.x is the public ip (works fine from LAN)
    nn is the port number
username is my user name (same on both machines)
The options for the host from ssh_config are:
    AddressFamily inet
    Compression yes
    ControlMaster auto
    ControlPath ~/.ssh/socket-%r@%h:%p
and the only generic option applied to all hosts is just a line to insist on protocol 2 which I think is default now anyway but I followed the wiki and specified it to be sure.
What have I missed? My networking knowledge is pretty basic at best. (I got this far using Arch's wiki, Fedora's documentation and a little trial and error. That seemed to work well but now I've added google and still can't figure it out. All the hits I get concern cases where the LAN connection works but authentication fails over WAN. But I'm not getting that far - it looks like my work box doesn't respond at all...)

So I discovered I'd also managed to kill off LAN access as well as the machine's ability to use any sort of DNS... (I did say it needed to be secure...)
Anyway, I fixed that, reestablished working ssh from LAN but still can't get it to work from WAN.
Question: if ShieldsUp! reports the port as stealthed does that mean that the port has not actually been opened? So the campus firewall is blocking the connection? Because if so, I'm knocking my head against a brick (fire)wall to no purpose whatsoever...
I figure it can't be the software firewall else I'd not be able to connect on the LAN. And it is a public ip address so there's no NAT translation required...

  • Trying to connect to Windows on LAN with MacBook outside of LAN

Folks, I've scoured the support site thinking someone else has had this issue but no luck...I have a LAN powered by an Airport Extreme. I am trying to use my MacBook to access a Windows PC back in my LAN.
Within the Airport Utility, under the advanced settings -> Port Mapping -> selected "Remote Login - SSH" as the service and put the IP address of the Windows machine within the Private IP Address field.
Using Microsoft RDC for Mac on my MacBook, the computer name is the address of my ISP. For this RDC account, the login credentials are correct with the Domain field listing the same IP address as is in the Private Address field within Airport Utility.
However, it will not connect. I am lost on this and would love any insight.
    Thanks!

Does this mean that these guitars have no sound/input at all
    no
, or have some sound/input but very low.
    yes
I just want to make sure its not me or the guitar thats the issue before i invest in some amplification
a wise choice. so far my guess is it's a setting, you should hear something if everything is set correctly.
will imic help? does it amplify?
i would not recommend it, but it could work, yes.

  • Is there a PORTABLE wireless router that I could travel with to convert hotel LAN lines into wireless signals for my iPad?

I travel regularly to Asia and I have been trying to compile everything I need into my iPad.  Unfortunately, most of my hotels do not have wireless in the rooms just an LAN line.  Does anyone know of a router (as small as possible) that I can plug an LAN line into that will convert it to a wireless signal I can access with the iPad.  What I don’t want is to have to plug the router into a computer and program it forevery different LAN line I encounter.  Thoughts???

As the others have said, Airport Express is one option.  The catch as Allan said is that the configuration utility doesn't run on the iPad.  It is rumored that iOS5 may have the utlity, but that doesn't help you now.  If you can wait, then the Airport Express would arguably be the best for the iPad.
If you can't wait, you could get the D-Link DAP-1350.  You configure it through a webpage, similar to how you would other home routers.
    http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=DAP-1350
I use the older DWL-G730AP 802.11g version and it's been very good to me for use by my Macbook Pro and iPad1.

  • Transmitting with JMStudio works on LAN but not over the web!

I've been reading all kinds of posts related to this problem.. it was asked many times but noone has given the answer.
The transmitter has to put the receivers ip and some port.
The receiver has to open rtp session with the transmitter's ip and the same port.
On a LAN it works, but over the internet it doesn't (the receiver keeps "waiting for data").
The two computers I used for trying that, are on no LAN's.. they are assigned a unique ip by the isp (two simple broadband or dial-up connections with single computers).
    Why doesn't it work?
(The ip's I used are (for example) the ones that appear in whatsmyipaddress.com and i'm behind no proxy)

  • Help with DNS setup for LAN only

I have a Mac Mini SNS 10.6.8 as our company's local standalone fileserver.
Everything has ran great for the past year (still is), but now I want to try and setup DNS for more control and services.
The server host name is servername (no FQDN), which shows up in Server Admin as servername.local.
I read and followed Hoffman Labs great step-by-step, but must have missed something, since I still cannot get DNS resolution.
Here is a brief summary of the Server Admin settings:
              Host Name                    servername
              Host (Server) IP          192.168.4.2
Router IP (also default public DNS IP) 192.168.4.1
Bonjour                    Wide Area  =  Not enabled
Settings                    Accept recursive queries  =  localnets
Settings                    Forwarder IPs  =  8.8.8.8  &  8.8.4.4  (Google Public DNS)
now...          Zones                              1 Primary Zone  =  companyname.net (we own the domain)
                                            Primary Zone Name  =  companyname.net
                                            Nameserver Zone  =  companyname.net
                                            Nameserver Host Name  =  servername.companyname.net
                                            2 A Records:
                                            servername          192.168.4.2
                                            user1                    192.168.4.3
Reverse mapping - automatic - OK
    Testing          Ran sudo changeip -checkhostname
                        Results:
                                  Primary address          =          192.168.4.2
                                  Current hostname          =          servername
The DNS hostname is not available. Please repair DNS and re-run this tool.
I must be doing something wrong, but I don't know what it is.  Please help.

Did you intend to have both "example.com" and "example.net" listed there?  Are those domains really different?  I'm going to assume that was an obfuscation error.  (This is part of the "fun" of obfuscation, unfortunately.  Of having to differentiate errors in the actual configuration from errors that were introduced during the obfuscation.)
    >Oddly, even though I had manually assigned our Comcast gateway's DNS to Google DNS IPs, the gateway summary still shows up as Comcast's DNS server IPs.  So I removed the manually assigned Google DNS IPs from the gateway.
The gateway (or whatever you're using as your DHCP server) should be configured with the DNS server address of 192.168.4.2.  All other hosts on your network (if you're planning to use your local DNS everywhere on your LAN) should also reference 192.168.4.2, either through an explicit static configuration, or as the address that was received from the DHCP server.
And as for IP routing, are all your hosts, network printers, network gateways, DHCP servers, etc., all in the range of 192.168.4.1 to 192.168.4.254?  (They should be, if you're using a /24-class 255.255.255.0 subnet mask.)
But then I don't know where this configuration has gone off the rails...  (Over the years, I've seen and have made my own configuration errors, I've been "bagged" by DNS caches, and I've hit various bugs in DNS implementations.)  What you have stated here should work.
I'd start at the top of the DNS configuration article, and not stray from what is written there.   That there has been Google DNS and have had ISP DNS configured at the gateway does mean there were some areas that have strayed from the article.   I'd suggest following the DNS server configuration directions exactly.
Setting up DNS services with OS X Server isn't difficult, but it can be a little fussy.
If you don't understand something that's written in that article -- or if you believe you need to enter something different than what's listed there -- then please stop and ask about it.  Either ask here, or ask over there.  (This feedback also helps improve that article.)
Straying from what's written in that article is certainly and entirely feasible, but that's something best left until after the adminstrator is more familiar with running a DNS server.  Once you know how and why and where you can stray, there are all sorts of things you can do within a DNS configuration.

  • OS X Restore with Time Machine via LAN does not work

    Hi all,
i did a full backup of my mac mini with mountain lion on a time capsule via LAN. Tried to do a full restore on a new hard disk and connect to the time capsule after i booted into a restore environment. I was able to choose the time capsule as the restore source and connected using my dedicated backup user, which was also used to create the backup before. But after i cannot chose my just created backup!
Using a local USB disk with time machine everythings workes fine. But the main reason why i chosed time capsule is, that i can make my backups of all the used mac books and minis  via LAN / WLAN...
So, is there anybody else experiancing this Problem?
    Regards,

    Hi,
tested OS X Restore with Time Machine via QNAP NAS Box - working without any problem. So with the Time Capsule it might be firmware problem?!

  • IPsec tunnel with two RV180W in LAN

    Hi all,
I've to set up a couple of RV180W devices to connect several branch offices with IPsec tunnels with one back office.
Because I'm new to Cisco devices, my intention is to set up two RV180W devices in our LAN that way, that they establish an IPsec tunnel. Both of them have an IP address in the net 192.168.179.x and each RV180W has it's own IP net (192.168.10.x and 192.168.11.x). The idea is to have a PC in each of the networks of the RV180Ws and several outside to check by the PCs' visibility/connectivity whether the VPN is working or not. Later on I've to change the network addresses but I'll know that the IPsec settings are working.
I've used the 'Basic VPN Setup' on both devices to configure the tunnel, but it won't be established, its status remains on 'IPsec SA Not Established'.
Am I completely wrong with my approach? Or am I blind and oversee something essential within the configuration?
Here the configurations of both devices:
    device 1:
    device 2:
Thanks in advance for your ideas and help.
    Best regards, Lars

I'm trying to connect an RV180W to my RV082 and I get IPSec SA Not Established.  I've checked my settings numerous times and they are the same on both routers (aside from different gateway ip and lan subnet)

  • ExpressCard/34 compatible with PCI Express 1 lane?

    Hello everyone,
I am looking into purchasing this item, however I am confused about the differences and compatibilities between the ExpressCard/34 slot my MBP has and a PCI Express. The device I am looking into purchasing is compatible with 1, 4, 8, 16 lane PCIe slots. Is this item compatible with my MBP?
Here is the link to the item:
    http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/intensity/techspecs/
    It is the Intensity Pro.
    Anyways, thanks for the help.

    Hi e,
The Intensity Pro card in question is an internal PCI card and isn't going to fit in an EC/34 slot. It's built for a Mac Pro, not a MacBook Pro (so a discussion on PCI slots would be academic at best). The Shuttle is Windows only, and needs a built in USB 3 port (no such Mac exists). So you'll need to find an external device which uses one of the host interfaces available on the MBP (FW, USB2). Good luck on your search, and it you find something promising, I hope you'll post back with info.

  • SG 300 10 - Multicast with multiple switches in LAN

    Hi there,
I have short question concerning Multicast in my LAN. My internet router acts as an IGMP Proxy for the LAN and distributes IPTV there. The router is connected to one of my three SG 300 10 Cisco switches (connected to one another via uplink port). Now I want all switches to send multicast traffic to only the recipients of such traffic (PCs with VLC and Network Media Players) connected to either one of them. How do I have to configure the switches to do so and not flood the LAN with multicast traffic, is it enough to enable IGMP Snooping on each switch?
Thanks in advance and best regards
    Christoph

Hi Christopher, by the default the switch will treat multicast traffic like a broadcast until you enable the Bridge Multicast Filter and IGMP snooping.
Navigate to; Multicast -> Properties and enable the Bridge Multicast Filtering
    Navigate IGMP snooping -> Enable
    Multicast -> Multicast Router Port
Then make sure to specify the mrouter port (which must be a member of a static vlan, not a dynamic vlan)

  • Using 1 Mail.app account with 2 incoming servers (LAN and remote)

We use an MDaemon mail server in our office. On the LAN, we access the server by an internal IP-adress. On the go, we have a remote host address to the mail server. How do I configure a mail account on a laptop that travels in and out of the office all the time? (the internal address doesn't work ootside, the remote host not in the office...)
I remember you used to be able to make these settings in Locations, but I can't find these options anymore.....

that doesn't work when on the LAN, same as I cannot use the local IP-adres when I'm outside of the LAN. Maybe this is the whole thing, and I should look for the solution in this corner....
