Audit Crystal Reports

Hi,
I have downloaded the audit crystal reports and I believe I can directly use it. For some reasons the crystal reports is throwing error.
How can I view the sql for these audit reports and when I try to change the database in audit it is not working
Crystal reports-> crystal reports 2013
database for audit -> sql server 2012
Thanks
Bala

Hi Dell,
The version we are using is sap bi 4.1 sp5. I could see all audit reports were created in 2011 which is 4.0 version, Hope these reports work perfectly for 4.1
Also can you let me know how to view generated SQL for these reports.
And when I tried to change the database connection. Following error is appearing in report

  • Crystal Reports Server vs BOEXI3.1

    We currently have BOEXI3.1
    I am trying to figure out a solution that would allow an Asp.net front end to display my crystal reports.
    What is the difference between Crystal Reports Server and what I have? It would seem that with what I have now I am going to run into some license issues. We have 200+ users that I want to allow them to run the report from their browser. There is no way we are going to buy that many licenses( I am not sure that is even possible anyways) I am not sure what solution works best for that. Any help would be most appreciated.

    Hi,
    Crystal Reports Server is intended for small to medium sized organizations that require the ability to create, manage, and deliver reports over the web. A single server solution packaged with Crystal Reports XI and five concurrent access licenses, Crystal Reports Server is ideal for delivering reports to small groups of users. It is currently available for Windows, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3, and SuSE Enterprise Server platforms.
    BusinessObjects Enterprise is a multi-server Business Intelligence (BI) platform designed to address large-scale reporting and BI requirements. It handles all types of Business Intelligence content including Performance Management, Web Intelligence and OLAP Intelligence.
    BusinessObjects Enterprise is also recommended for its advanced capabilities such as Auditing, Crystal Reports Explorer, and the new Encyclopedia and Process Tracker. Similarly, BusinessObjects Enterprise is offered across a broad range of enterprise operating systems including Solaris, AIX, Linux, and Windows DataCenter.

  • Using crystal report to extract data from Audit Log

    I have a customised form which contains main fields (i.e 20 fields) and when a field is changed, it's being recorded in the audit log.
    Would it be possible to use Crystal Report to extract data from the Audit Log? Ideally, i would like the report to show me all the latest field values in a spreadsheet type format (i.e. one field per column)
    Has anyone try this and if so, what is involved?

    An element with both text & a sub-element is a mixed-content element.
    For example ElementA is a mixed content element.
    <ElementA>
    Text
    <ElementB></ElementB>
    </ElementA>
    Extract just the Text from ElementA.
    <xsl:template match="ElementA">
    <xsl:apply-templates select="text()" />
    </xsl:template>

  • Audit trails on Crystal Reports Server

    I found the following in the "SAP Functions in Detail" document:
    "Crystal Reports Server records significant
    events in an auditing database,
    allowing administrators to report
    against these events and answer questions
    about user and system activity."
    Yet, it is not clear from any user guide how to actually manage/view these events. My facility needs to be able to see which reports were viewed by which user and when.
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
    That could be a possible answer:
    In BusinessObjects in fact you can activate auditing for server (not all servers have audit options).
    -First you need an audit Data Base.
    -Then from CMC you must set up audit on each server (defining what you want to audit).
    -Then there are preformatted reports available that you can use (or use as a template) to report what you need.
    Hope that information to be usefull.
    Ciao,

  • BOBJ Auditing - Activity Universe and Crystal Reports

    Here are the user requests.  Are these possible with BOBJ Auditor? There are some sample reports in Infoview Public folders and Activity Universe connection is working.
    1. User and Group access and type of access to all folders and Crystal reports.
    2.Develop a report of the inventory of all scheduled reports indicating report name, location, frequency/schedule and distribution list (include FTP / file location if not e-mail).
    A monthly report would probably be sufficient and would be used to facilitate management oversight of report distribution.
    3.An inventory of all reports indicating report name, location, database connection, scheduled or not scheduled, when created, when last time run, by whom
    4.Automated report for failed instances - Crystal report failures within folders.  Most of the reports are run overnight
    Environment: BOXI R2, Crystal Reports, Activity Universe

    Hello,
    I'll attempt to answer your question. I should point out that not everything you need is an audited event. You might be better served by the Query Builder for some of your requirements.
    1. It is possible to create a list of all folders/ reports a user/group has access to. The type of access a user/group has is not audited.
    2. This is possible (more or less). You might have to move the distribution list portion to a different tab/ report.
    3. Again, I'm uncertain how much of this info is audited. Needless to say, a report that has never been run will have no audit information. Report name and location (i.e. within BOE) are audited. It doesn't look like the database connection is audited.
    4. This is possible and relatively simple.
    Best,
    Srinivas

  • Publishing Crystal Reports for Enterprise error

    When I try to publish a Crystal Reports for Enterprise report, using Publication options, in order to send it by email to three of my users,  it shows the following error:
    2014-07-03 10:20:32,390 ERROR [PublishingService:HandlerPool-1] BusinessObjects_PublicationAdminErrorLog_Instance_16070 - [Publication ID # 16070] - Scheduling document job "Users - with Logon Events" (ID: 16,077) failed: Exception in formula '{@Record_Selection}' at 'and (
    ({Auditing.Events\User Name} = "Larry") or ({Auditing.Events\User Name} = "Curly") or ({Auditing.Events\User Name} = "Moe")
    The remaining text does not appear to be part of the formula. (CRS 300003) (FBE60502)
    [3 recipients processed.]
    It is weird because the report is one of those that are by default used for Auditing and it runs perfectly when I run it manually or by Schedule. The problem is when I include it in a Publication, so it can be filtered automatically based on the list of users.
    I tried with another of those reports that come with Auditing, and it has the same problem. Is it a bug? Are you able to replicate this error in your environment? I'm using Crystal Reports 2013 sp3.

    Hi Abhilash,
    I am able to open and edit other reports on the server without problem.  I believe that they are the same version and pack.  Here are my versions:
    CR for Enterprise Version 14.1.3.1257, Build 2013 Support Pack 3.
    SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.1 Support Pack 3, Version 14.1.3.1257
    When CRE displays an error like this, is there further information in a log or recorded anywhere else?  How does one go about finding details?

  • Crystal Report Server XI recurring report instance is not viewable

    I have scheduled a report to be run every morning, and each instance return status is "success". However, I encountered the following problem when I try to view instances of the report: There is a long time period of waiting (seems to be waiting for some kind of timeout), and then eventually the message: "A request was cancelled. The necessary security privileges could not be verified. This indicates a problem with the security server."
    I also noticed that in event viewer (windows server 2003) I see many failure audits to login to the sql database, and the events contain the login used in my data source.
    It's interesting to note, that when I run a single instance of the report "Now" there is no problem.
    Some info about the report which may be relevant:
    The report uses 2 formula fields to auto-parameterize 2 of the 5 parameters used by a subreport. The other 3 subreport parameters are set when scheduling the report.
    The subreport uses a call into a stored procedure in a MS SQL server 2005 database to retrieve its records.
    The 2 fields which are parameterized are datetime fields (StartTime, EndTime), and the main report is basically just a wrapper to only show the previous day.
    JDBC data source to local Sql server instance.
    Also, the crystal report server XI install uses the same sql server instance to store CMS data under a separate database.
    I'm stumped on this.
    Has anybody encountered this problem?
    Is there a simpler way to auto-parameterize the report?
    Why are the failure audits occurring when I view the instance of the report? Is this because the instance is setup to use RPT output format?
    Are there logs I can look into aside from event viewer? I can't find anything that looks relevant under program files, but perhaps I missed something.
    The failure audits would make more sense to me if it occurred with the other report instances, but some instances are shown correctly, and some just do this timeout thing.

    Hello AV,
    please look for the log files here:
    drive:install folder\businessobjectsenterprise11\logging
    by default c:\program files\business objects\business objects enterprise 11\logging
    Please make sure that tracing is switched on for the individual server.

  • BI 4.1 auditing sample reports in WebI format ?

    Hi!
    Is it possible to get auditing sample reports in WebI format instead of Crystal format (like in previous versions of BO) ?
    When Crystal is not used by a custommer, it's a pity to install and run Crystal servers & client just for auditing reports, isn't it ?
    Regards,
    Stéphane.

    Tilak,
         All the information you need on the Audit Database can be found within the different Admin Guide and the sample UNX w/ Crystal Enterprise reports provided.

  • Use Crystal to generate a list/count of Crystal Reports by folder on BOE

    We use BOE XI R2 SP5 and have rolled out a good number of Crystal Reports in various folders on the server organized by client.  We do not have the SDK.
    Now my manager would like us to be able to write a new Crystal Report that will give us a listing of the folders on BOE and a list/count of the Crystal Reports in each folder.  (We have had some luck writing Crystal Reports usage reports using an ODBC configured against the Auditing database.)
    I see that I might be able to do some folder/report counts by using the Query Builder in the admin interface, but what we really want to do is write a Crystal Report against the Query Builder's database (CI_INFOOBJECTS?) so that we can add some formatting, do filtering, use parameters, combine with other data, etc. -- all the stuff we leverage Crystal Reports to do.
    For those of us without the SDK, is there a way to write a Crystal Report against the data the Query Builder uses?
    Thanks in advance!
    Brad in Raleigh

    I'm afraid what you are trying to do is not possible.  Query Builder does interface with the CI tables in the system database, but it does so through the CMS.  If you were to set up an ODBC connection to your system database, you'll quickly discover that the data is useless in its native format as most of it is in binary form.  A SDK solution is the only way I can come up with to solve your problem which isn't much help since you've ruled that out.

  • Crystal Reports Server 2008 V1, RedHat Enterprise Linux, MySQL, ODBC

    Iu2019m confused about connecting to an ODBC source from a report within CMC. Iu2019m a Unix guy; I donu2019t know much about Crystal reports, but Iu2019m working with a Crystal guy to get this thing working.
    <br><br>
    First, background: I have installed Crystal Reports Server 2008 V1 in RedHat Enterprise Linux (5.4), and itu2019s running just fine! Iu2019m using the included Tomcat application server, but Iu2019m storing CMS and Audit data our local running copy of MySQL (5.1.42). The RHEL install is native 32-bit (the only way I could get it to work), Crystal is storing and retrieving data from MySQL, The Central Management Console is responding to port 8080 over Tomcat, Iu2019m able to log in and see stuff, and so far, life is good.
    <br><br>
    Now, where Iu2019m stuck: the data weu2019re trying to build reports from <i>also</i> resides in this local Linux / MySQL install, and connecting to it from a report within CMC is where Iu2019m lost.
    <br><br>
    First, I successfully installed the unixODBC and MyODBC drivers in Linux. Iu2019m able to connect to MySQL successfully using the isql utility. Here are my conf files:
    <br><br>
    <pre class="jive-pre"><code class="jive-code jive-java">/etc/odbc.ini
    [DSN_NAME]
    Driver = MySQL ODBC 5.1 Driver
    DATABASE = project_web_prod
    DESCRIPTION = Project Description
    UID = username
    PWD = password
    SOCKET = /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock
    /etc/odbcinst.ini
    [MySQL ODBC 5.1 Driver]
    Driver = /usr/lib/libmyodbc5.so
    UsageCount = 1
    </code></pre>
    <br>
    Again, this all works with isql (Iu2019ve even used both a socket connection, and port 3306, in odbc.ini).
    <br><br>
    Now, our Crystal guy uploads a report into the CMC. I go to <i>Folders -> <Project Folder></i>, right-click the report I want to test, click <i>Database Configuration</i>, and check the option <i>Use custom database login information specified here</i>. I select database driver <i>ODBC</i> from the dropdown, and type in the server, database, username, and password info. However, when I try to run the report, it fails to connect.
    <br><br>
    So, stupid question, can Crystalu2019s CMC use the system ODBC configuration options? (The ones stored in /etc). Because I saw an odbc.ini file in ~crystalinstalldir/bobje/. I edited it to match the contents of my /etc/odbc[inst].ini files, but to no avail. I saw that Crystal has itu2019s own ODBC engine, but it doesnu2019t support MyODBC driver, does it? I even tried hacking env.sh to use the system unixODBC library instead of the included one, but no luck.
    <br><br>
    So, in short, my question: how do I simply get reports in CMC to connect to a MySQL data source (using ODBC)?
    <br><br>
    Thanks so much! An answer to this question will save my day!
    <br><br>

    Thank you, Efstratios, for the helpful reply!
    So, I followed the directions in the PDF file you attached, and everything went smoothly. However, Iu2019m still not able to connect to ODBC within CMC.
    Hereu2019s what I did:
    <ul style="list-style-type:disc">
    <li>Copied the unixODBC libraries over to &lt;installdir&gt;/bobje/enterprise120/linux_x86/odbc/lib</li>
    <li>Removed MySQL ODBC connector 5.1, installed MySQL ODBC connector 3.51.</li>
    <li>Edited &lt;installdir&gt;/bobje/defaultodbc.ini, added my DSN and MySQL library info as per the instructions (I have both an odbc.ini, and defaultodbc.ini, identical files, just to be safe)</li>
    <li>Tested the connection using these libraries, this odbc.ini, and isql. Worked just fine</li>
    </ul>
    So, my problem seems to be in getting the CMC to actually <i>use</i> my ODBC setup!
    Any other hints / things I could try?
    When I right-click a report, and go to &ldquo;Database Configuration,&rdquo; which connection options should I use for the report? Iu2019ve tried both &ldquo;Use original database logon information from the report,&rdquo; and &ldquo;Use custom database logon information specified here&rdquo; (using the ODBC option from the drop-down menu). Either way, if I enter in the database, username, password, and then try to run the report (&ldquo;Run Now&rdquo;), I get this message in the History: &ldquo;Failed - Information is needed before this report can be processed.&rdquo;
    Is there another place I could get a more helpful error message? Or is there, perhaps, another way I could test database connectivity from within CMC? I wish there were at least a &ldquo;Test Database Connection&rdquo; optionu2026 :P
    Thanks so much for your help!

  • Crystal Reports Utilization for Last 90 Days

    I am trying to use Query Builder to determine which crystal reports have been runned within the last 90 days.  Is this possible?  If yes how?

    Hi Garet,
    As Manikandan Elumalai mentioned, this information can be fetched if you have Auditing enabled and configured to capture events specific to accessing reports.
    If you are on BO 4.0 platform, you can check in CMC whether auditing is enabled or not. If it is enabled, you can deploy the auditing universe and reports from here.
    Cheers

  • How to view Crystal report under iOS ?

    Hello,
    I'm new with Crystal reports.
    In  BI 4.1 SP2 Patch 3 LaunchPad I have in " Preferences / Crystal report / View format":
    (x) Web (no downloading required)
    Yet, when I try to view Crystal reports on iOS mobiles, I've a message saying I have to install "Flash Player 11" !?!
    => impossible with iOS !
    Is it a bug ?
    Do I actually need Flash plugin to view Crystal reports ???
    If yes, "no downloading required" is not true...
    What is the best way to view Crystal reports on iOS mobiles ?
    In fact, I use Crystal reports provided with auditing Universe.
    They don't seem to be available in WebI format like with previous versions of BO.
    Regards,
    Stéphane.

    hello Stéphane,
    the prompt / parameter dialogue is the piece that uses flash.
    you can still view reports without the prompt dialogue but if you need parameterized reports then you have to build an html front end containing the controls to target the report. you can do that with webelements. please see this blog post here.
    your other choice is to get / purchase the mobile add-on for crystal reports server or businessobjects enterprise.

  • Auditing usage reports

    I am trying to identify usage through the auditing tables..
    Report Level.
    Based on the Crystal Report ID. I would like to know everything that has happened with the rpt. who viewed, scheduled, modified schedule, deleted etc etc..
    Personnel Level.
    Based on the USERID. I would like to know everything a person has has done in the system logged in / out..viewed rpt, scheduled, modified schedule, deleted etc etc..
    I am using the activity unv.. The associated docs are not very helpful
    Does anybody have any sample webi/crystal reports using the activity unv or suggestions on what ID-s to key off of...
    I have loaded the sample reports but not at the detail required.
    Thanks
    Bryan

    If you have deployed the default reports and universe which was provided by SAP(link below) for auditing... you will see a folder called "Object Event" . In this folder you can see a crystal report named "Objects - Events Summary - by Object and Event Type" which should work for you http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/40711187-04e8-2d10-d190-851e20c7665a

  • Crystal Report Server Database question

    Hi,
    I am reading the installation guide for crystal report server.  It said a database is required for CMS.  It also mention about a database for auditing (optional).  I was wondering if they share one database or I have to create one for each?
    Thanks!

    Crystal Reports Server does not support auditing, unfortunately some of the admin guides for BOE and CRS are the same and this gets mistaken many times. If you want auditing then you must buy Business Objects Enterprise and then the previous post is accurate.
    Regards,
    Tim
