Audition 3.0.1 freezes sometimes opening Cool Edit sessions

Audition 3.0.1 - I'm working with some old sessions that I did in Cool Edit, and opening them in 3.0.1 and working on file types before converting them to .sesx files.  The problem is that sometimes 3.0.1 can't open the session - it gets 95% of the way through loading it and then hangs ('Audition is not responding' says Task Manager).
Anyone recognize this?  And, of course, is there a fix?

There were a few things that had changed (actually quite a few things) between CEP and Audition 3. One of the particular problems, IIRC, is that the way some effects were referred to in AA3 - even though they were effectively the same effect, you couldn't call them without changing what was in the session file.
The person who knows most about this is SuiteSpot - chances are that his session converter can cope with this. If you're lucky and he spots this, he may be able to comment in a rather more authoritative way...

  • DW CS3 freezes on opening a file

    I have a site that has 110 cfm files in the root, 14 cfc
    files in the "components" directory, and less than 10 each of
    images, CSS, Spry, and js files in their own directories. Of all
    these files, which I have been editing since April, there is ONE
    file that makes DW crash. It can happen immediately when I try to
    open the file, or if I try to do code-folding by highlighting with
    the mouse instead of the cursor, or any other I don't know what.
    The thing is, it didn't always do this. This file started making DW
    freeze sometime within the last month or so.
    I tried deleting and re-creating the file, didn't work. I
    tried doing the preferences thing, didn't work. I haven't found any
    other solution from this site or by Googling. I am using WinXP Pro
    SP2, DW CS3, CF 8. I had to install CF8 because of a problem with
    CF7, and I'm pretty sure that may have something to do with this
    and with DW not recognizing the data source I've set up using the
    Admin page.
    Does anyone have any idea about this?
    Thanks!

    Another note: Here's the code that's freezing DW:
    <cflock name="add_person" timeout="5">
    <cftransaction>
    <cfif isDefined("session.person_id")>
    <cfif session.person_id NEQ "">
    <cfinvoke component="root_dir.components.person_queries"
    method="getUpdate_person"
    returnvariable="update_person">
    <!--- CFC Query --->
    <cfinvokeargument name="person_id"
    value="#session.person_id#">
    <cfinvokeargument name="first"
    value="#session.first#">
    <cfinvokeargument name="last" value="#session.last#">
    </cfinvoke>
    <cfset variables.person = session.person_ID>
    <cfelse>
    <cfinvoke component="root_dir.components.person_queries"
    method="getAdd_person"
    returnvariable="add_person">
    <!--- CFC Query --->
    <cfinvokeargument name="first"
    value="#session.first#">
    <cfinvokeargument name="last" value="#session.last#">
    </cfinvoke>
    <cfinvoke component="root_dir.components.person_queries"
    method="getGet_per_id"
    returnvariable="get_per_id">
    <!--- CFC Query --->
    </cfinvoke>
    <cfset variables.person = get_per_id.MAX_PEOPLE_ID>
    </cfif>
    </cfif>
    </cftransaction>
    </cflock>
    I don't know why this is happening now, all of a sudden.

  • InDesign CC freezes when opening fonts

    I am running Windows 7 64 bit and have updated to InDesign Version 9.2.
    InDesign is often slow to save documents, and sometimes freezes or crashes. Recently when it froze a box popped up that said it was opening fonts. Any thoughts as to what would cause it to freeze while opening fonts.
    The problem is intermittent.
    Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

    Hi Pam,
    I would certainly give CC2014 a try.
    Other than that, make sure there’s no illegal characters like slashes in the file or folder names and that the path is not too long.

    I have recently had problems in getting my Adobe Premiere Elements 10 to run. One of the gentlemen was able to take over control of my computer, and got it working for me, however since that time the program will sometimes open but most times it just freezes the computer and I have to shut it down and re open without any success with opening the elements program.
    Can you help

    Sosure
    What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 10 running on?
    What video card/graphics card does your computer use? NVIDIA GeForce? If so, please read the Announcement about the Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA GeForce issue which is found at the top of this web site. Does that apply to you? The explanation for the situation and the fix (roll back of the driver version) are all included in that Announcement.
    We need to rule in or out this factor at the onset before we get to other questions
    a. non NIVIDIA video card/graphics card driver
    b. project preset and properties of source media
    c. computer details
    More later.
    We will be watching for your reply.
    Thank you.

  • Updated itunes, now it freezes upon opening. even after reinstall.

    Hey, I recently updated to the newest version of itunes and whenever i open it it freezes automatically. It pops up and i can't click on anything or do anything.
    I've tried reinstalling it and redownloading it multiple times but I still get the same results. I've also made sure to download the one with quicktime.
    I tried downloading an older version but it says that my library was created by a newer version and it can't be read. Something along those lines.
    Can someone please help me? I'm at my wits end about what to do.

    I'm having the same issues! iTunes over the past few days has been freezing on opening (sometimes), freezing during routine playback (sometimes), and when it freezes it refuses to die even when I try to force-quit!
    I tried rebuilding my iTunes library as suggested, but it didn't work for me. It froze less than 30 minutes after I went through that rigamarole...

  • Firefox doesn't accept some sites and IT'S FREEZING sometimes and you can't write anything or click anywhere...reaaly disaponting, I have to restart it and after a while same thing, I can't close any tab only by options close tab.

    Firefox doesn't accept some sites and IT'S FREEZING sometimes and you can't write anything or click anywhere...reaaly disaponting, I have to restart it and after a while same thing, I can't close any tab only by options close tab so you can't use Command Q or Command R for reloading...GRRRRRrrrr, hate this

    As I asked previously are you able to have tabs open as a window by using the right clicking option ?
    When you close Firefox you should use
    *'''Firefox button -> File -> Exit '''
    Are you doing that ?
    I suspect what may be happening is Firefox is hanging as it closes down.
    * see [[Firefox hangs or is not responding - How to fix#w_firefox-hangs-when-you-quit-it]]_firefox-hangs-when-you-quit-it
    * this explains how to check & if necessary kill the process [["Firefox is already running but is not responding" error message - How to fix it#w_end-firefox-processes]]_end-firefox-processes
    A related possible problem is that you may have built up many copies of the restore files. These are stored in the Firefox profile. The easiest method of finding the profile location istouse
    *use '''Firefox button -> Help -> Troubleshooting Information <br /> -> [Show Folder]'''
    *see [[Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data]]
    You need to look for the files ''sessionstore.js'' and numbered duplicates of that. Delete them.

  • Can't open .ses file in Cool Edit 2.1

    Hello,
    I hope I'm on the right forum here. I have a big problem with a *.ses file in Cool Edit 2.1. When I try to open it it simply doesn't do anything. It starts Cool Edit but it doesn't start importing the files and effects of the tracks.
    I saved the project last night, there is no recover file for it. There are to many wav files to recover it manually...
    If someone could help me and give an advice why I can't open it anymore, I would be really thankful!
    Greetings,
    Christian

    Thanks Steve
    Just email me the ses file (no audio).
    Send it to me via the aatranslator website
    You should checkout my SesBackup program - also available via the same site

  • I updated to Safari 6.1 and now it freezes when opened

    Yesterday I updated to Safari 6.1 and now it freezes when opened, although the overall system stays up.  I updated to the latest Java and iTunes 11.1.2 at the same time. When I open Safari now, it pauses for a few seconds without going to the home page and then I get the spinning beach ball.  I get two messages:  One says that the plug-in for SplashID Safe has not been tested with this version of Safari (a message that I had been getting before the update and never caused a problem).  The other message says, "Crash Protection  It appears that Safari didn't quit properly.  Do you want Glims to re-open your tabs anyway?"  It gives me a choice to click "Cancel" or "OK".   I have tried clicking them (before the beach ball appears) and it makes no difference.  The version of Glims I am running is out-of-date.
    The only available crash report is almost a month old and therefore is of no help.
    I made a back-up with SuperDuper just before updating and can reverse the update if I do it soon, but I would like to get this working.
    I would appreciate any advice.
    Bill

    >>The version of Glims I am running is out-of-date.
    How do I uninstall Glims?

  • A day ago I updated my iPhone4 to io5 and I updated iTunes on my PC using Windows 7(64 bit). Now iTunes freezes upon opening and I have to force it to close. Anything I missed along the way?

    A day ago I updated my iPhone4 to io5 and iTunes update as well. I use windows7 (64bit). now iTunes freezes at open and I have to force it closed. Anythng I missed along the way?

    Many thanks.
    With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:
    Apple software on Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
    (If there's a SpeedBit LSP showing up in Autoruns, it's usually best to just uninstall your SpeedBit Video Accelerator.)

  • I updated to Mac OS 10.6.8 earlier today, and since then my iPhoto has not been functional. It freezes on opening and I have to force quit. Help!

    I updated to Mac OS10.6.8 earlier today, and since then my iPhoto application has quit working. It freezes on opening. Any idea why or how I can fix it.

    Make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
    Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
    Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #2
    Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
    Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
    Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
    Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
    In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
    Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Hi, the screen on my Ipod 4 is flashing white and it freezes sometimes as well. How do I fix this please?!

    Hi, the screen on my iPod touch 4 is flashing white and it freezes sometimes too. Please help me!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
    How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Adobe Acrobat Standard/Pro freezing when opening large PDF documents

    Ok, I have a tough one. Adobe Acrobat X Standard/Pro keeps freezing when opening large documents that exceed approx. 50 pages. These PDF documents contain large images and graphs for mining purposes, but no links. The issue impacts multiple users on multiple laptops/desktops. We have tried the following:
    - Uninstalling/re-installing Adobe Acrobat
    - Disabling Enhanced Security in Acrobat Preferences
    - Resetting local user profiles
    - Changing Reading Preferences to view current visible pages only
    - Installing Adobe Acrobat XI
    This issue has only occurred after upgrading users to a Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit Operating System.
    The only possible solution I have managed to find is changing a registry key that permanently disables the Enhanced Security options in Acrobat. This solution however, only worked on brand new user profiles. Resetting user profiles throughout our entire company is not something we are even going to consider.
    If anyone would like more information that I have missed, please feel free to ask.

    Another possibility to check is the free space in the TEMP folder. I believe Acrobat uses the TEMP folder for temporary storage. You might even consider increasing the size of the TEMP folder. At least this is something else to check.

  • Firefox freezes when opening an adobe acrobat (PDF) file from any website

    Firefox freezes when opening an adobe acrobat (PDF) file from any website. This only started happening after the latest update of Firefox was installed. Do you have a fix?

    Hi Susan,
    The Adobe plugin in Internet Explorer is a bit different from the one in Firefox, however they're all made by Adobe and they usually come with Adobe Reader.
    When you open a PDF file in Firefox, it "calls" Adobe Reader to help it read the file. In this case, the Adobe Reader takes over, and it is responsible for freezing your browser.
    I suggest you try the last 4 solutions presented on the [[Opening PDF files within Firefox]] (start with "Re-install the plugin" through "Re-install Adobe Reader").
    Good Luck :D
