AUDITION CS 6 & TASCAM DM3200

We are running CS6 on an HP machine running Windows 7. We recently purchased a TASCAM DM3200, and cannot get the two to communicate. The DM3200 is equipped with an IF-FW/DMMKII fire wire card. We also have the USB connected. Audition recognizes the card and the DM 3200, but we can't get the faders or transport controls on the DM3200 to respond, nor can we get audio from Audition to come up on the DM3200. We have downloaded all the latest updates and software. Still nothing. We have the Audition control surface settings set to Mackie. We set the DM32000 as the sound "card" in Windows control panels. We can select inputs and outputs. the fire wire locks. But no sound - no controls. Can anybody help?

Generally we don't do install issues - there's free support for that from the helpline. But if you are installing the trial on the professional version of W7 64, it should work, unless for some reason the 32-bit runtime environment in the OS is corrupted. That has to be working correctly, otherwise no 32-bit software at all will run on it. So my question would be - have you had any trouble with other 32-bit apps?

  • Getting the remote layer working with a Tascam DM3200?

After talking with a very helpful Apple tech, it seems my Tascam DM3200's emulation of a Mackie Control in Logic Pro 9.1.7 was the source of the weird "unresponsive transport" problem on my system (I'm not saying that this is the source of EVERY version of this complaint... but if it's happening on your machine, I would defintely look at the control surfaces as a possible cause, because after deleting the control surface in Logic my system has run two back-to-back 10-hour days without the slightest hiccup).
So to get back to work, I just deleted the control surface in Logic.  But this tech mentioned that he had a Tascam console himself and not only knew of the problem, he had seen somewhere on the web a method of tweaking the connection... either in the Tascam or, more likely, in Logic's set-up... that made the Tascam work perfectly.  I think he said that using this method, you didn't run the Tascam as a Mackie emulator, but created your own profile so you could control Logic directly.  (?)
He's an Apple guy, so couldn't take the time to direct me to third-party solutions, natch.
ANYBODY out there doing this / heard of this / know where to go looking?  I foolishly sent an e-mail into the support guys at Tascam, but I have a mental image of their tech department being a bunch of cobwebbed skeletons sitting in front of TRS-80 screens.
    Two things I already know:
1  Setting it up as in the Tascam instructions does not work.  It SEEMS to work, but screws things up later.
    2. A helpful guy on another forum showed me how to turn off "Key Repeat" in the Logic Mackie Control setup, which did get rid of one early problem.  Doing that DOES NOT fix this "unresponsive transport" thing.
So, please don't link me to the Tascam Logic Setup PDF or tell me how to turn off the key repeat for Stop, Play and Record.  Thanks for any help or direction you can provide.....

If you're connecting it to the AirPort base station's USB port, format it as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and follow these instructions. You may need a powered USB hub.

  • Macbook pro and recording with GB

Hi. Im considering buying a macbook pro this one:
2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 4MB on-chip shared L2 cache running 1:1 with processor speed
    2GB (two SO-DIMMs) of PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SDRAM memory; two SO-DIMM slots support up to 4GB
and Id like to do some multitrack recording with it using garage band and a 16channel tascam DM3200 digital mixer. Can garage band 08 record 16 tracks simultaneously?
Id also like to know if this laptop will handle 16 tracks simultaneously with some plug ins without strain. Anyone doing something similar?
    Thanks

  • 0404 problems: suddenly no audio

so here's the thing, i've installed the 0404 and have been using it virtually problem-free on an old HP running xp professional, until today. now i get no audio out from the analog rca jacks. i've tried different cables, different amps/speakers...you name it.
when playing an mp3 or wav in winamp or any other player, i can SEE the levels working on the patchmix dsp application, but no sounds. not even thru the headphone jack. nothing but the sound of silence. this machine is a stand-alone unit and NOT hooked up to teh internets. no other changes have been made to the machine. anyone have any suggestions beyond reinstalling the software (tried that already)
    thanks

Sorry, I apparently left out a rather important piece of the puzzle.
Hardware is a Tascam DM3200. The audio connection to the computer is firewire. There is also a USB connection. The board is capable of remote transport control and such but I have never used that feature.
I don't think the sample rate is changing in the board, at least it indicates that the rate stays at 88.2. I am not certain however. And the documentation for the board is woefully inadequate.
    Hi,
    Have you gone here:
    http://www.tascam.com/details;9,9,36,19.html
    And seen this manual :
    http://www.tascam.com/i-469-232-128-0-0CE1B106.pdf
    It's for Logic 7.X and the DM3200
This is only to set it up as a controller, via Mackie HUI protocol.
Also, the DM3200 manual, page 9, states that :
    Computer (DAW) integration
The DM-3200 can be used with a computer system:
with the built-in USB port, which allows control of the DAW by the DM-3200, emulating popular controller hardware. Additionally the optional FireWire expansion card (IF-FW), which provides all the USB functionality, and also allows multi-channel digital audio to be transmitted and received between the DM-3200 and the DAW application. In this second method, the DM-3200 may be used as an outboard mixer, freeing the computer from this task, and reserving the DAW for audio editing, etc. In both cases, the TMCompanion software can be used for management of the DM-3200. See the documentation accompanying the latest release of the software for full details of the capabilities of the soft-
    ware with the unit.
    NOTE
Some of these features may not be available in the first
    release of the DM-3200 firmware.
So, please check your firmware on your DM3200.
Also, on page 45, Clock Setting, there is a feature to use the FireWire card's clock. Is this what you are using to clock the DM3200 to your computer? This might be the issue right here.
    Cheers

  • Logic Pro 8 freezes up

I've been having this issue for awhile.  Running Logic Pro 8 on my Macbook Pro.  I use a Tascam DM3200 hooked up via Firewire card and usb (for the control surface info).
When using the program at different times the keyboard and trackpad freeze up.  There doesnt seem to be any one thing that causes it to happen.  Sometimes the song will be playing while I'm doing some mixing then I'll go to do something and the cursor will be stuck, none of the keys will work, trackpad does nothing.  If the song is set to cycle it will keep doing so.  My only option is to shut down the computer.
Sometimes I will open up a new window and it will freeze....no real rhyme or reason.
I've upgraded the ram to 6gb and still have the problem.  It also will do it without the mixer hooked up.....kind of at a loss here...
    Thanks for any help,

  • Having problems connecting Tascam FW-1082 DAW to Audition CC

Having a hard time connecting my Tascam FW-1082 hardware/recording interface to Audition CC.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I know this hardware had no problems hooking up to previous versions of Audition (3.0.1 I believe).

So I open the session I was recording earlier in Adobe Audition CC 2014 which was recorded with my Tascam hardware (after having to restart Audiction, shut off the mixer, turn it back on and reload Audition NUMEROUS times!)....and while mixing the session in my headphones with the windows WASAP sound settings, Audition straight crashed my computer and restarted it.  After the restart, my monitor showed the below picture.  I had to manually power of my computer and unplug it for 10 seconds then start it again.
Come on Adobe, get it together!!  Premiere has also crashed my computer 4 times already as well.  NO OTHER PROGRAMS on my computer crash my system!!!!
    Getting extremely irritated here!!

Turn your Firewire device off or shutdown and remove it. Then once in Windows go back to device manager. Double  click on the VIA 1394 device. Select the driver tab. Select update driver and then Browse my computer for driver software. Then select let me pick from the list of device drivers. select the OHCI Legacy driver and then hit next. Finish the wizard and then restart the system. Turn the Firewire device on or shot down and connect it. Then try the Audition again with the Tascam and asio driver. If that doesn't work, uninstall the Tascam driver and make sure you download the latest from their website. Then install the Tascam driver again. Restart and check the results.

  • Using adobe aud 3.0 with windows 8.1 and tascam interface

I just upgraded my computer to windows 8.1 from xp ....have been using adobe aud 3.0 since 08....worked fine till I ugraded to windows 8.1.....i use a tascam us 144 interface for voice recording but since I installed windows 8.1 AND Tascams laster drivers (latest one came out in 2010) adobe will record but only in spurts....when I hit record it will move across the screen about 2 inchs then stop...move a little more then stop.....so I went and bought a new interface (Focusrite iTrack solo) ...downloaded the drivers....when I hit record in Addobe audition I get a window that says WINDOWS SOUND DRIVER this audio nput not activated....check input config.....question....is there anything I can do to or adjust to continue to use the Tascam interface?  if not how do I get Focusrite to record in Adobe
    THANKS

You need to make sure that you have ASIO drivers installed for your audio interfaces. Both manufacturers provide them. ASIO drivers completely bypass anything to do with Windows sound settings as well as providing lower latency.
In Audition's Hardware Setup page Audio Driver box make sure that you select the appropriate interface's ASIO drivers not Windows Sound for both the Edit and Multitrack tab. The various inputs and outputs should then appear in the boxes below.

  • Windows 8 and Adobe Audition

I have windows 8 and have downloaded and installed adobe aution cc but can't find it. Everything I click takes me to the web site download page again.
I have Audition CS5.5 on the old laptop - can I upgrade this? Can I buy an upgrade? Do I have to pay a monthly fee because if so I could not justify the money as it's used so little.

FWIW, my Win 8 experiences witha pen-based older tablet/laptop have not included any BSOD's, but I have had to adapt the interface by adding a "Programs" toolbar to the taskbar (Audition appears in this) and by adding an icon to enable me to bring up the "Charms" thing from the desktop, which was necessary in tablet mode. The instructions for the toolbar are easy to find on the internet, and both these features are achieved without any third party software.
I did try a couple of free "add a start button" programs, but both of these had side effects that I didn't like, so I removed them again.
Some of my audio interfaces that work on Win 7 don't work properly on Win 8. These include my Tascam FW1884 and Edirol UA-3FX. I'm still on Audition 3, but that works well enough on Win 8 here with other interfaces.
I've been trying a different DAW on Win8 and have found that its requirements involve either adding several icons to the normal screen or several navigations around and between the two main screens before the program will start. I find this stressful and time consuming.
My son has been using a modern tablet/laptop with multitouch for his work, specifically because he makes a lot of long train journeys. Today he has told me that he has given up and his new Mac Air is due to be delivered next week, even though this will mean running several programs that he uses in his business in virtual machines.

  • Help on setting up my Tascam us-144 to Adobe 3

Ok here's the thing i just purchased a TASCAM US-144 installed everything it brought, connected my mic to it then opened Adobe Audition 3 ..now here's where i break my head on how to set it up i managed to record a vocal but when i go back to play it no sound comes out .Only when i go to edit the vocal by double clicking it then sound comes out! so in the actual window i have no sound! must be some setting anyone please help me by giving me step by step on how to correctly set it up ..

I'm not quite sure of a more technical solution.
But something to try out that is maybe a simple mistake. Check the buttons on the left. The are 3 of them. M, S, and R.
R is obviously, to record. S is solo, meaning you only hear that track. And M is mute. It will completely Mute that track.
Check if the M looks "illuminated". That is the only way I've been able to  reproduce that problem.
    Hope it helps.

  • Adobe Audition CC - VSTi and MIDI

I have recently built a DAW on an effects rack with a TASCAM Rack-mount sound interface that came with Cubase LE 5.  The computer, which I built myself, is permanently attached and the thing rolls.  I plan on using the DAW for on-set recording for making short films as well as for music scoring.  Cubase is great, only thing is that it is 32 bits and has memory limitations which can easily be reached if you stack enough samplers and NI Guitar Rig buses.  Also, it takes more time to set up each track than Audition or Reaper, which matters a lot when doing live recording.
I am a Creative Cloud subscriber (have been since it was offered).
Is there a timeline to add VSTi and MIDI to Adobe Audition CC?  Thanks.

Audition might be the best for high resolution audio, maybe even too advanced for the sound samples available to the folks like myself; as a composer I need midi and vst, me too.  I also have to work with older-school samples, so I can not fully profit from the incredible AU sound editing capabilities.  The only thing I would say on "hard limiter" plugin is that it might have a better effect with a 20 band equalizer, because cutting peaks is one thing, but the softer noise elements remain in the wave.  Simple cutting decibels is a half-job and it looks a little weird on the wave image.  I tried to compose midi in one software and then do the sound editing and mastering in AU, but the awkward process is not good.  Maybe Audition is for mastering specialists only, then it stays without midi reserved to composers, this makes sense too.

  • Adobe Audition noob

Hi everyone,I've been using Adobe audition for about 2 weeks now and trying to mix some music, and I'm getting some terrible results.I think I need some advice when it comes to different things and maybe a fresh ear.I recorded a tune on a vss-880ex and the recording isn't too bad sounding,it just needs mixed "properly" in audition and some tweaking.I'm using a tascam us-122 to dump all the tracks to my hard drive through adobe, what I need is someone point me in a direction or offer some advice on some mixes. Here's what I was thinkin...
I dunno if it's possible, but is there a way to send a song/session(.ses files or wav files) to other people that could give the mix a try? I could learn alot from something like that and would be forever grateful to anyone willing to help out.I'm so new to this,I'm sorry if I'm asking too much.I'm not asking anyone to do work for me or anything, just some help with the sounds and someone I can learn from.

    We've all been there.

For a starter you need to learn to listen. You need to know how things
sound. You also need to make some stereo recordings with a single pair so
that you learn what stereo is all about and how rooms work and how they
    colorize sound.

I can't give you a "distance course", SteveG just posted something very
sensible on mixing in a nearby group, it is very much in line with what I
learned while doing the mixes I have on the raw tracks website,
    http://raw-tracks.com.
You need to structure your work like you structure working in a kitchen.
Prepare the tracks so that they mix easily. Don't be impatient, learning new
    skills take time.

  • Adobe Audition 3.0 Problems

Kind of Long - Windows XP SP3
I play guitar and bass guitar, and want to record them. I have my guitar connected to a ZOOM G1N Multi FX Pedal. The OUTPUT cable from the pedal is then connected to my computer at the LINE IN jack. My headphones come from the SPEAKER port on my system.
When I play guitar it plays through my computer fine, and I can record some clips using Windows Sound Recorder.
When I launch adobe audition 3.0, there is no sound. I can still hear the sound because of the line in, but adobe audition does NOT pick it up.
I have ASIO4ALL installed on my computer.
I go to Audio Hardware Setup - Under all 3 tabs, I put ASIO4ALL.
When I hit the record button it shows that it is getting sound. But it seems delayed. I cannot hear anything from the speakers. When I press stop, or stop recording, and hit play, no sound.
What is my problem - I am a very novice user when it comes to programs like this, and I really have no understand of audio inputs and stuff. I can get full documentation off my system for a better understanding, just tell me what I need, such as sound drivers and pictures of my volume layout. I work on other types of software, so I can navigate through the program easily. I am just unsure what all these buttons do!!!
I have HD sound audio, with 3 ports on my motherboard.
    Thank you

I would first change the Audio Hardware setup in Audition to use the simpler "Audition Windows Sound" to see whether it records through that. You should also go into Windows Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices and look under the Audio tab at Sound Recording, Volume and see that the mixer is set up sensibly there.
If you can now record, you then need to look at why ASIO4All isn't working correctly.
On the subject of the delay (aka latency), if you want to multi-track the guitar and bass, the sensible way forward is to invest in a specialised usb guitar interface that is designed for the job, will provide a true asio driver for Audition and will allow real-time monitoring. There are many manufacturers of these such as Tascam, Edirol etc. My advice would be to seek out one that has a metal case and the best combination of connectors for your use (for example, my Tascam one has jack line inputs, my Edirol phono and I choose the interface by what I can most easily connect to with the cables that are here rather by worrying whether the negligible difference in audio performance matters.)

  • Best audio gear to buy for adobe audition to make audiobook & podcast & elearning screencast ?

what is the best audio gear to buy for adobe audition to make audiobook and podcast and screencast video tutorials?
I will work alone with one microphone only in my bedroom.
    Thanks

I'll assume that initially you won't want to spend a fortune, but also, you won't want stuff that you will later regret purchasing. And to do this sensibly, you'll want to spend a bit more money on the microphone than on the external sound device.
For a microphone, you could do a lot worse than to get a Rode NT1-A complete vocal recording solution. With the kit, you get a mic cable, shockmount, pop shield, a bag for it - and also a tutorial DVD, but you can safely ignore that... The kits are generally available at quite a competitive price, and Rode microphones have a good value-for-money reputation. You'll still need some sort of a stand, either desk or floor mounting - but they're easy to find.
For a sound device, you could consider something like the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB interface. This has all the useful bits you'll need - like the ability to plug a pair of headphones into the front for direct monitoring. Focusrite kit has a good reputation, and isn't overly expensive for what it is. This is a basic solution that would actually let you use two mics if you wanted, so there's a little room for expansion if you need. If you want to spend less money there are options like the Tascam US-122 - but I'd personally spend just a little more on the Focusrite - they have better mic preamps.
Yes you'll need a pair of headphones, but here the choice is rather up to you, although I'd recommend that you look at Beyer and Sennheiser for clean consistent results, although they aren't the only ones. You need closed-back ones though if you use them near the mic - something like the Beyer DT-250 is a good choice, because they have replacable leads, and the feed is into one side of the headphone only - and they're comfortable.
Since I don't know where you are located, I don't know what this is actually going to cost you, but it's good basic kit that should last you for a while, and produce decent results without spending a fortune. Yes it's possible to spend a heck of a lot of money on stuff like this, but the law of diminishing returns sets in quite early, and you can get remarkably good results these days without spending a lot at all. There are a few brands that are generally better avoided, like Behringer. Nothing wrong with Behringer electronics, but they economise on their hardware, and invariably things like sockets stop working, and knobs fall off. Oh, and they use cheap level controls etc, and these become noisy quite fast. You get what you pay for - it's cheap but it won't last long before you experience trouble.
