Audition CS6 Crashes constantly

I have a certain Session (.sesx file) that I am now trying to modify after I have sent it back to Premiere. I need to make some adjustments to my mix such as raising the volume levels back up for all the tracks. Unfortunately, now Audition is consistently crashing whenever I try to modify this multi-track file. It crashes even when zooming.
I'm on a Mac and whenever Adobe Audition freezes I get a "Audition had trouble reading or writing to the disk" message dialog. I have checked permissions and even copied the project to a different drive and neither of these things made a difference.

I'd be happy to check out your sesx file
You can get my contact details via the aatranslator website
Just email the sesx file without any media

  • Audition CS6 crashes on opening. Cloud

Audition CS6 crashes on opening every time. I have not been able to get it to work once.
I have downloaded and installed the patch. Still not working
I have tried to open while holding shift. Still not working
I have renamed the folder in the roaming as 5.0BACKUP. Still not working
I have created and replaced the Debug Database.txt. Still not working
I have uninstalled and reinstalled. Still not working
I have unistalled quicktime. Still not working.
    Any other ideas?

Thanks.  When you say "Within 10 seconds of launching..." does Audition actually get to a point where it displays the application window and panels?  Does it show the "Adobe Audition" launch image?  If so, it should update a line of text in that image as it loads various components it uses and if it crashes while this image is still visible, the last displayed text before it crashes would be very helpful.

  • Audition CS6 Crashing On Start-Up

I have used Audition CS6 several times on my Windows 7 64-bit system in the 3 weeks I have had it installed, and have used it without problems. But, after using Audition CS6 early today, I tried to start it up this afternoon and got the following message:
And no matter which option I select, Audition CS6 crashes.
I installed it as part of the Creative Suite 6 Production Premium.

The dialog in your screenshot just means that Audition recognized it crashed previously (or the first time) while a file or session was open.  Since it continues to crash means something else is wrong.
My first suggestion would be to force Audition to ignore its preference files.  Try launching Audition but immediately holding down the SHIFT key.  This allows Audition to override certain preference files and use its internal defaults.
If this fails, let's bypass ALL the preference files.  In your file explorer, navigate to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Audition\  and rename the "5.0" folder to "5.0BACKUP"  Then launch Audition.  (You may need to manually type AppData into the path as it may be hidden from view by default.)
if neither of these tricks works, let us know specifically what message you receive when Audition crashes and we can continue troubleshooting.

  • InDesign CS6 Crashing Constantly

Ever since upgrading to the Creative Cloud thing (from CS3) InDesign CS6 has been crashing constantly. Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver and Acrobat are just fine.
As far as I can tell, the crashes are arbitrary. It's not only when I'm using a specific tool, it's not only when I'm saving, etc. I might be exporting to PDF, I might be typing, I might be doing anything.
Usually I get the error: "Adobe InDesign is shutting down. A serious error was detected. Please restart InDesign to recover work in any unsaved InDesign document."
Sometimes relaunching ID works for an hour, and sometimes for a few minutes, but sometimes it will go into perpetual crash mode, where it crashes on relaunch repeatedly. The only way to get out of this is to restart the computer. Usually in these cases all unsaved work is lost and the document can no longer be opened without causing an ID crash while attempting to open it. Cumulatively, I've lost hours of work now, despite having to save about every 30 seconds.
It happens even when ID is the only program open. And now even trying to run InDesign CS3 as a backup doesn't work. It crashes the same way, when it didn't before this so-called "upgrade."
    Me:
iMac with 3.1 Ghz Intel Core i5
    24 GB Ram
    OS 10.7.5
Creative Cloud recognizes InDesign CS6 as being "up to date"
Thanks in advance for any help. I'm desperate.

We're having the same problem: 2 of us, both working with cloud based subscriptions. Lost hours are mounting up, and the frustration level is rising. Where's the problem, Adobe? Where's the fix! We need to get back to work!!

Hi everyone. This is a bit strange. I didn´t get to install the ps updates.
Besides that, I worked a couple of days with it and I got no trouble after installing the last video driver.
    Now I´m getting new problems.
    1. if I use a program called SYNCBACK which I use to sync information from hard drive to an external drive, I lose the aero transparency from win 7
    2. I´m having constant crashes with the program I use to watch tv in the computer.
I don´t know if this has anything to do with adobe suite, but if you can help me decode this error messages, it would be very helpful for me

I installed 12.3 and restarted my computer. This did not solve the problem.
I've reinstalled Photoshop twice as well with no developments.
Then, I found this thread: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4289204
My card (Radeon X 1300 / X 1550) is not listed in the "Tested video cards for Photoshop CS6" section.
If I go to Edit->Preferences->Performance, and mouse-over the "Graphics Processor Settings" section, it says "Photoshop detected an error in your display driver. Update or reinstall the driver and check Use Graphics Processor to retry".
Is there any way around this?

  • Adobe Audition CS6 Crash

    Hi,
I have a serius problem with Adobe Audition CS6. It work perfectly, but when I open a Waves Diamond VST, the program crash. It's very strange becouse Waves Diamond on my Windows 7 work very good with Sonar X1 Producer. Then I think that the problem is Audition. I search the plug-in in the folder "c/programs/steinberg/VstPlugins.
Moreover Waves Diamond and AU CS6 worked good before my last formatting. I used them for 2 years and never Audition crashed for a Waves Diamond Plug-in. I think is a folder problem.
    Can someone help me?
    Christian
ps. sorry for my english, i'm italian!

    Thanks.
It crash completely and appears the Windows message saying that the program doesn't respond and it have to close.
Do you know why this happen?

  • Audition CS6 Crashes Upon Clicking "R" to Prepare for Recording

I've tried uninstalling and re-installing. Would not record but could press the R. The second time opening Audition, started crashing when I pressed the R.
I'm working on an iMac with the Fusion Drive. Trying to record with a Blue Snowball.
I have had success recording on this device on the same settings before but it's just suddenly started doing this recently.
I will take any suggestions I can get... Very frustrated.

    Hello
you wrote "I've tried uninstalling and re-installing".
Please be careful with (de)installing aso. by (de)installing by your own resources. As much as I regret it and as strange as it may seem I fear it's a challenge for Adobe's Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool.
Sometimes - for whatever reasons - CC doesn't "want" to work. In this case you should CC completely delete and reinstall by help of Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. (A try to uninstall by own resources is not enough!)
I quote: ... helps resolve installation problems for Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe Creative Suite (CS3-CS6) applications. The tool removes installation records for prerelease installations of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications. It does not affect existing installations of previous versions of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications.
Please use: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html  and follow the prescribed sequence of operations
Sometimes, we know in the meantime, the "opm.db file" is the culprit. In this case you should delete it.
If necessary and for further questions click through http://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html or http://helpx.adobe.com/de/contact.html and if "open" please use chat, I had the best experiences.
    Good luck!

  • Audition CS6 crash on "Open append"

    Hi
I have a recurrent crash with Adobe Audition CS6, when I try to Open Append a second file to an already open one. In his case the two files are 24/96 grabs of the 2 sides of a vinyl LP. The same thing happens if I open the second file and try to copy and paste it on to the end of the first.
The two files are each around 1.2 GB filesize. If I try with smaller files, no problem. I assumed it was a lack of working memory, but if I open the files in Audition CS5.5, I can copy/paste the same files with no problem. While this is OK as a workaround, I then have to re-open the new file in CS6 to take advantage of its CD creation features. Also, I'm running with 12 GB RAM, so handling 2.4 GB of files shouldn't  really be a problem, should it?
    Has anyone else seen this?
    Audition CS6 Version 5.0.2 Build 7
    Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Processor 3.30 GHz
    12.0 GB RAM
    Thanks for any replies,
    Tim.

    Hi, thanks for your reply.
The files were created directly in CS 6 via a Focusrite Saffire Pro 24. I had the same issue today with (slightly) smaller files - about 800 MB each, so the total was less than 2 GB.
Yes, the larger files open OK in CS 6 though I have had crashes on closing and with applying other processing. I also tried opening a 1.9 GB file previously created in CS 5.5 and crashed.
I'm going for a clean install of CS 6 tomorrow to see if that clears thing up at all.
Again, thank you for your time,
    Tim.

  • Audition CS6 crashes often

I am having problems with CS6 crashing. It happens sometimes when I go to save a file or even open a file. It happens often when I start a VST plugin.
When I restart CS6 I usually can perform the operation that caused the crash.
When it crashes a dos box pops up for about 2 seconds. If I am quick to hit print screen I can read the error message. The message is OMP: Error #15 Init. libguide.lib but found already Init.  Sometimes the error refers to file libguide40.lib rather than libguide.lib.
I would think CS6 could catch this error and not have it crash the program.
    I am using Windows XP.
Is there a way around this problem.

If you are getting library file errors, then uninstall and reinstall Audition initially. Since the library files are an integral part of getting Audition to run at all, then you won't be able to trap errors as such when you initialise one; a fail is inevitable. If you do the reinstall, and it still has the same problem, then reinstall your OS, because it isn't working correctly.

  • Photoshop CS6 crashes constantly on 2 very different macs, but CS5 running very stable!

    hi
our photoshop cs6 (with latest update to 13.0.4) keeps crashing daily and is not stable at all.
so we would work with cs 5 again, as this version is very stable and wont crash even once in a year.
we are daily/"9-5" working at a photographers´ studio and use 2 different macs:
    - brand new mac pro 6-core (2010/Westmere) with 48GB RAM under system 10.8.3
    - old mac pro with Two 2.66 GHz Dual-core Intel Xeon "Woodcrest" from 2006 with 16GB RAM under system 10.7.6
(both with standard equipped/shipped graphics cards)
cs6 crashes daily whith following tasks:
    - frequent crashs: using "motion blur"
    - frequent crashs: using "refine edge"
    - sometimes using "transform tool"
during our tests, we found out, that "disable graphics card" (photoshop>settings>performance) in the mac pro from 2006, would prevent a crash, when using "refine edge". in the latest mac pro from 2010, we did not find any solution to prevent a crash.
a "crash", we define as follows: during the mentioned tasks, photoshop is gone from the screen in the blink of second, and an osx sign appears "photoshop has crashed"..
    thanks for your time..

Instructions for submitting crash reports with your email address: http://adobe.ly/gNJWVY
As Chris states, this will help us track down your issue.
I agree is Christoph, I would suggest leaving OpenGL/"Use Graphics Processor" enabled and twiddling the Advanced settings for Drawing Mode to "Basic." Then restart Photoshop and see if the problem still persists.
That setting is the main difference between CS5 (Basic) and CS6 (Advanced).

  • Adobe PP CS6 Crashes Constantly! PLEASE POST A SOLUTION.

Adobe PP constantly crashes. Counted over 100 today! It freezes shortly after or during the loading of the project assets. At times when it does load, performance is nightmarishly slow. Simple commands takes minutes to be performed but it hangs shortly after anyway, so its a complete redundancy from start to finish.
On top of that, PP constnatly looses rendered files for video previews everytime you exit the software or after few exists. A huge waste of time trying to re-render such a complicated timeline with over 17 tracks of video and effects. After so many versions of PP, a simple smart rendering still remains a top issue and by the way that was among the selling ptuch for CS6!
I see tens of other posts in the forum with reports of unrelenting crashes, followed all suggestions and performed every troubleshooting I could think of under the sun, to no avail. Is there a solution for this problem? Things like trashing preferences, deleting cache files, etc do not work, so I ask the staff to provide a link to some meaninful troubleshooting document and not paste a general answer for the sake of having answered the question.
-I've disabled CUDA and Nvedia Mercury Engine Playback alltogether for Software Acceleration Only since Adobe admits the bug.  Great to know investment in Nvedia was a total waste for the so called greater perfromance.
    - Set the memory to memory instead of perforamnce and vice versa. No difference.
    - Reduced and increased RAM available to PP. No difference.  I have 32GB of RAM installed but at the most PP uses 9GB.
    - Deleted and re-rendered work area files, media cache and the entire media cache folder. Premire crashed hundreds of times until it re-rendered and conformed all audio files. The Media Files folder keeps balooning in size even though the number of files in the project hasn't changed.
    - Ended up creating a new project, imported the master sequence from the troubled project, still no luck.
    - Nesting the sequences doesn't fix the issue either.
    - Ended up wiping out the whole system, reinstalled OS and Adobe CS6, and problem is still there.
    - I am on Mountain Lion, a very fast Macpro desktop with solid state drives and have the latest PP updates installed. No plug ins whatsoever so risk of intereference is out the window.
    - I work with GOP based AVCHD media, MPEG2 transport stream
    - Restarting the system never fixes anything. If anything it prompts the software to re-index all files from scratch adding to the wait times upon loading a project.
    - Problem is present with other projects I load so its not a corrupt file issue, its some kind of an incidious bug. The only projects that open fine are the small ones with less than 15 minutes of content (although complicated effects).
So PP can't handle a large project or this is a known bug? Please someone experienced in troubleshooting point me at a solution.  In the middle of a large project and this has disabled the production schedule altogether.
The software was fine up until tihs problem showed and other forum reports report the sudden appearance of this malfunction. I cant think of anything that might have changed, other than progressing with a complicated project in terms of effects, etc. After many hangs and restart of the software, without any apparent explanation, PP loads and funcitons as it should only once, works fine for a while and then crashes and you have to restart the project many times more until you get it to stabalize (up to a hundred or more). I don't know what keeps the project sluggish and what makes it all go away on very rare occassions. Its a total mystery. During the sluggish period, monitor activity shows that premire is doing something but I've confirmed that its not writing anything to the Media Cache or Media Cashe files folder. The status of media says ALL LOADED and no indexing is going on either, so I am not sure what the heck is tying up PP.

What are the specs on your system?
If you're on Windows, please update the driver for your processor. That step has resolved a crash-on-launch for several customers.
Do you have any codec packs or third-party effects or transitions installed?
In the bottom left corner of the "Premiere Pro has stopped working" dialog, there should be a link that reads "View problem details." Please click that and paste just the top few lines here (see the example here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1261230?tstart=0)

  • Audition CS6 Crashes on Save and Attempts to Recover - Temp File Solutions?

After a 46 minute session recording in 44.1K, 16-bit, stereo running CS6 on Windows 7, my attempt to save the wav file resulted in a crash with Close Program or Look on Internet for Solution.
Attempts to restart the program and use recovery data worked initially, but subsequent save attempts resulted in the same crash.
Attempts to copy the wav file also resulted in a crash.
Shutdown and restart of the system yielded the same results, in fact worsening on some attempts to recover, where the data file reported 2 errors, eventually resulting in a complete freeze of CS6 when attempting the recovery.
At some point, the recovery option no longer was displayed -- may have been my fault, but there is a large 2+ GB file under c:\Users\(username)\AppData\Local\Temp\Adobe\Audition\5.0 named Audition5Temp9b878c42-d2e1-46cf-b433-9cebd47d6640 with no extension.
I tried importing this as raw data, 44.1K, 2 channel, 16-bit PCM, Default Byte order, but that resulted in what appeared to be a 3-hour file that was very high amplitude noise.
I'm hoping for a means of recovering this data file.  In the years I used CS5.5, I never had a problem like this and recovery always worked in those rare instances when it was needed.
This is my second extended session with CS6, and this crash has left me wondering why I bothered to upgrade.
Is there any hope at all here of recovering this session from the Audition5Temp file, or is it a total loss.
    Please let me know.
    Yours,
    M.B.

    Hi Kent,
This issue has come up from time to time and we've traced it to a third-party application that is often installed and running on pre-configured computers. SupportSoft makes a system monitoring application that Dell, HP, Comcast, and others install, but which can interfere with applications. Since Audition uses the OS file dialog API, whereas Photoshop and the other design applications use a native dialog, this support application can often cause us to crash.
It's simple to disable, which should prevent Audition and other applications from crashing. Click the START button (or whatever it's called in Vista) and type MSCONFIG and press ENTER. When the "System Configuration" application launches, click the Services and Startup tabs and uncheck any item that reads SUPPORTSOFT or SUPPORTCMD. Click OK and restart and see if that doesn't fix the Audition issue.
If not, or if you're unable to locate those particular applications, please let me know and we can dig into this deeper.
    Thanks,
    Durin

  • WHY is Adobe Audition CS6 crashing??

What can I do to stop CS6 from crashing?
I've owed CS6 on a Macbook Pro, for 1 year and purchased it from Adobe and downloaded via internet. It has been fine up until April.
I usually use it to edit audio projects and now recently for film projects.
    But using it recently its had a lot of problems;
    - I've only been able to use it for up to 30 mins before the rainbow of death takes control and slows everything down.
Then it eventually crashes after a long wait.
whats going on? Is there a way through this? Possibly I need to update the software? HELP!

Interesting description of an Apple OS - I've thought similarly of them for years!
If it's only slowing down, then something else that the OS is controlling has taken over, by the sound of it. But if you have an actual crash (IOW Audition disappears in a flash - poof! all gone...), then it will create a crash report. If you look in the FAQs you'll find out how to access  this and send it to the devs. They will tell you what's wrong - they're pretty good at that.
