Audition CS6 hangs on startup.

I have seen solutions in the past for this and wonder with the CC upgrade due out today if the problem will be solved. MacPro Intel, latest ML and CS6, did a nice project in PPCS^ and sent it to Audtion CS6. Multitrack, fixed all the audio that needed correcting, saved it, exported out as a stereo mix and a 5.1 and exported back to PP. PP was acting a little slow and closed out Audition.  When I went to play the new stereo mix and also the 5.1. I found I was missing quite a bit.  Mistake on my part. When I tried to open Audition, it would hang. Tried again with the shift key but that went to a new sequence.  It wouldn't remember the previous one. Closed it. Found the newly modified(fixed) called "Sequence 06.xml.sesx" and tried to open that. Would still hang and not open. I saw some bug fixes that require making a text file, deleting certain preferences,  but wonder if the brand new Audtion(CC7?)would fix the issues and should I wait?  Took quite a bit of work to get the client's mistakes taken care of in the video and want to get back to that final mix, without destroying the work.
What might be the best fix?

Hey Durin,
Thanks.
I let Audition try to open up on its own overnight, but still ran into a snag with that continuous beach ball spinning.   Somehow I did get the processed file from Audtion to open up, even with that "continue anway" warning.  All the stuff was there. But figured I would do a little housecleaning. I use various drives when doing a video project and tend to keep things seperate. I think that the hard drive that was dedicated to Audition, even though it had ample space, it wasn't "enough."  My opinion of course.  So I transferred mucho files from the Audition drive to another, freed up more room and I didn't have a problem. Of course, I've had Audition on the whole time and hadn't had to reopen it. My question might be this:  does Audition tend to "look ahead" when opening up a file to see if there is plenty of room in which to work? I think that might have been my problem. Old rule in video and audio:  no such thing as too many hard drives."
All seems to be working pretty good right about now.
Thanks.

  • Audition CS6 - very slow startup! About 60 seconds...

I'm evaluating Audition CS6 (Master Collection) on my Windows 7 64bit Ultimate, 18 GB ram, i7 920, SSD Crucial M4 128GB, Xonar Essence.
The other programs of the suite open in really 2 seconds thanks to the SSD, Audition takes every time 61 seconds!
I think it's because it has to initialize something.
Once it's open it works perfectly and it's fast.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you,
    Matt

    Hi Matt,
That is definitely NOT normal.  Opening within 5 seconds on a standard system was our goal, and with an SSD it should be practically instantaneous.
With the Xonar Essence, are you using ASIO drivers or MME?  If you changed the audio device in the preferences to the built-in device on the motherboard, does Audition still take this long to start?  (This could help rule out the audio device or drivers being the cause.)
If you could send the file C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Audition\5.0\Audition Log.txt to [email protected] we might be able to see where it's getting delayed.  (If you don't see this file, save an empty text file to this location with the filename "Audition Log.txt"  without the quotation marks and Audition will begin logging on the next launch.)

  • Flash Professional CS6 hangs on startup...

The following is the tale of a frustrated flash user.
Yesterday, flash worked fine for the entire day. Then, in a “foolish” attempt to open a rather large file (1920px x 1080px), the program crashed. “Well,” thought I, “I’ll restart the program.” No luck.
Now, I am faced with a terrible problem. The program loads, alright, but as soon as it reaches the main page, it hangs. Eventually, the UI greys out and the top of the window reads: (Not Responding).
I have searched the internet for hours, and my search yielded some answers but no solutions. I found this thread (https://forums.adobe.com/message/5884097) and followed all the fixes it had to offer, but none of them worked. I uninstalled the program and then reinstalled it with no luck. I uninstalled Java Runtime Environment 7 and installed Java Runtime Environment 6. I’ve updated everything.
What makes the problem even more strange is that Flash will load if I reboot my computer. It will work once. If it crashes or I exit, I have to reboot my computer to get it to work again.
Furthermore, all my other CS6 apps work: Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Audition, etc.
Any ideas? All graphics card drivers are up to date. My OS is up to date. Java is up to date. The following is my PC’s configuration:
    OS: Windows 8.1 64-bit
    RAM: 16GB
    Dedicated Video ram: 2GB
    Processor: Intel i7-4700MQ
    Hard drive: 1 TB
Really, I’m quite stumped, and I would greatly appreciate some help.
    Thanks,
    A frustrated flash user
P.S. This is my first post to Adobe communities. If I have done something wrong, please let me know.

It seems that the problem has something to do with Windows, not Flash. I contacted Adobe, and they suggested I create a new user account, which I did. Turns out that Flash works in that user account. The woman helping me said that, for further help, I would have to contact Windows. So, the mystery remains a mystery, but at least I can use flash now.
If anyone has any other suggestions, could you post them, please?

  • ID CS6 hangs on startup

I tried to start ID CS6 today and it hung during "Startup Services". It gave me a "serious error" message stating and the only option to choose was "Return to Finder".  I restarted the computer and it started up but once the toolbars loaded it hung with a "spinning beachball".  Trashing caches, temp files, prefs and turning off font management resulted in the same hang. Here's my crash log. http://pastebin.com/fhYqX9cM

I thought the suitcase thing might have worked, so I deleted it as I was no longer using Suitcase, but I had had Font explorer running, too. So I removed both plugins. After the hang I described above, forcing the app to quit will not allow me to get back to the panels loading with out trashing caches and things. It crashes early on with a crash log viewable here. http://pastebin.com/u6dE5g9Z

  • Illustrator CS6 hangs at startup - Services.aip

    Hi,
I'm in charge of Mac Pro's for people working on Adobe products. OS X 10.6.8.
I try everything (re-install, delete caches, preferences,...) I don't have CrashReport, because it hangs and I force quit the application.
Illustrator was hanging at every launch until I move this file :
         /Applications/Adobe Illustrator CS6/Plug-ins/Extensions/Services.aip
Now it seems to work but I don't know if this action has disables features.
Is anybody can help me or give me more information about this kind of issue?
    Thanks,
Please find below the report after a force quit.

  • PPro CS6 Hanging on Startup - Crashes or stops working.

    Hello all.
For some strange reason PPro CS6 does not want to start up today.  I have unistalled the program and reinstalled via my Application Manager.  I have performed the updates and rebooted.  I am still having this problem.  There are not 3rd party plugins for it. I have a problem detail list from my "stopped working" dialog box (Windows 7).  It is a Problem Signature and the event is APPCRASH.  Says Fault Module Name: dvamarshal.dll
AE CS6 boots up but only after a minute and then a warning advising that QT is not installed then after another minute I get an error advising Crash in progress <2184><DynamicLink>. Something wrong with my dynamiclinkmanager.exe??
    Any thoughts?

I'm getting the same error after Premiere Pro CC starts up then crashes.
I'm running 64 bit Windows 7. I checked the color parameters, took ownership of the files, tried several admin cleaner schemes, uninstalled and re-installed and still it crashes.
Pre Pro worked fine in the beginning of the trial version except the last time it crashed, so I am peeved right now since I thought that buying the contract would update the program and fix that error. Nope. I don't have days to work on this so I am going to have to uninstall
Could this error "Stackhash Appcrash" have to do with Internet Explorer?
Because this is a brand new giant drive PC I bought just for video editing and it's crashing like this.
    Grrr
If you have this problem you might try this -
Here is a Windows 7 and Vista StackHash and Appcrash Fix
    1. Click on the Start menu and then go to the Control Panel
    2. Click on System Maintenance and then System
    3. Choose Advanced System Settings.
    4. Under System Properties, select Settings from the Performance section at the top.
    5. Click on the Data Execution Prevention tab.
    6. Select “Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select”.
    7. Find the executable file for the application that triggered the error. In Windows 7 and Vista, you can locate your GroupMail executable files (i.e. GMMailer.exe and GMEdit.exe) in C:\Program Files\GroupMail 5.
    8. Select the application causing the error and click Open to add it to your DEP Exceptions list.
    9. Click OK to save your new settings.

  • Audition CS6 Startup Problem

Good morning: I'm using Audition CS6 on an HP laptop with W8 and more than the required RAM, etc. Every time I try to open Audition, I get an error message and it shuts down. Sometimes -- but not every time -- if I restart my computer, Audition will work. I need to get this figured out!

And that error message is....?! You need to provide more info. Also provide the crash details:

  • Audition CS6 requires a Serial number entry at every startup

Audition CS6 requires a serial number entry everytime I start the program.  How do I fix this.?  It is very annoying and If I get locked out of the program before I  fix the dance recital music  Its not going to go well for me here.

You don't say whether you are on Windows or not, but if so you might try running the program once as an Administrator. Once the serial has been accepted, then try running as a regular user.

  • Appcrash with multitrack sessions in Audition CS6 on a MacBook Pro with Windows 7

This is an issue with multitrack sessions different from 44100 Hz in Audition CS6 (as part of a Premium Suite CS6). While multitrack sessions with  a sampling rate of  44100 Hz works normally (as long as I use clips with 44100 Hz) any other sampling rate causes  an APPCRASH (s. below). Also with the insertion ( in a 44100 Hz multitrack session, of course) of any clip with a sampling rate different from 44100 Hz, the programme crashes in the moment it's going to generate a adapted copy for the multitrack timeline.
Audition is installed on a MacBook Pro Retina 15" ,Mid 2014, Model 11,3, Intel Core i7 4870HQ 2,5 GHz, 16GB RAM  with  Windows 7 SP1.
I tried all advices of the Adobe troubleshooting site and some of the community.
    Especially:
    - the simplified mode with user-defined system start
    - deactivated user account control
    - new user account
    - deactivated data execution prevention (DEP)
Also the use of different audio interfaces affords no effect:
    - build in Cirrus Logic CS4208 with MME drivers
    - Motu UltraLight mk3 hybrid via USB with Asio drivers.
In spite of an extensive search I can't find any similar case in the net.
So, please, can you help me?

I'm afraid you are right. At the worst I'm more than 50% of the audition users on a mac with windows. To solve the problem within a passable time I would like to change to the mac version of audition. But unfortunately it's impossible to use the mac version with a windows licence. And CS6 licences (mac audition) are not longer available (only at a moon rate).
Because of the weekend we can pass the time with the latest news of my trouble-shooting.
The crash is not only within the multitrack session but also within the waveform view: when I try to change the sampling rate (Edit -> Convert Sample Type) the programme crashes with the same problem signature. And here it crashes with all sampling rates , including 44.1k audio files. On the other hand I can play all sampling rates within the waveform view.
I compared the logfile from the predecessor of the MacBook , a LG Notebook with windows vista and a working Au CS6 with the current logfile of the Mac: They are identical at the beginning and at the end (termination sequence). But after " Initializing AuScripting"  there is a "DLMS 6.0x39 FileServer startup code: 0" and the listing of a couple of codecs in the Notebook logfile - but not so in the Mac logfile.
Also the logfile of my workstation with a working Au CS6 shows this "DLMS 6.0x39 FileServer startup code" - line. Because of the two working and one crashing computer this part of the logfile seems to be important ??

A blank line is only to arrange the logfile more clearly - it doesn't stand for missing lines.

  • Adobe Audition CS6 Keeps Crashing?

Everytime I record vocals and go to click stop, or anything of the sort (sometimes its even adding effects and other stuff),
at complete random a box comes up on the screen entitling:
Adobe Audition CS6 has stopped working. Windows is searching for a solution to the problem and will notify you when a solution is found.
and therefore forces me to close the program. This now happens EVERYTIME I record vocals for my music....
Upon start up of audition again this box comes up:
When I click continue, it will open my last recording session but the audio is always missing from the files and I have to re-record everything.
This happens every single time i use audition and its quite frustrating. Ive tried all three buttons but either way i have to restart.
Ive tried the shift trick when you first start the program, and i opened my project but it still continued to do the same thing...
    Any Suggestions?

Well since you've tried the Vanilla startup, the only other option is to uninstall and reinstall the software. If it continues to happen after that, you have a fault in your computer, regardless of whether it's a Mac or PC.

  • CS6 Hangs on Start-up

Just got a new 27-inch iMac.  Can't run CS6 Production Premium
Deactivated CS6 on the old machine.
    Ran Migration Assistant.
Photoshop hangs (spinning beachball after 30+ minutes) on startup (after splash screen.. Large black window with toolbar on the left).
    Force Quit Photoshop
    Uninstalled CS6 using Adobe uninstaller.
    Deleted contents of /Library/ApplicationSupport/Adobe

SOLVED...   but the answer is ugly, and it took a lot of effort to pin it down.
This isn't an issue with the Adobe Software.  The problem was caused by using Apple's Migration Assistant.  The only solution appears to be to reformat the disk and reinstall the OS, then hand build the new system one install at a time.
I tried doing a CMD-R reinstall of the OS (Mountain Lion), but that did not cure the problem.
At the Apple store the guy at the genius bar offered to replace the machine, but said "Let's try something first, is everything backed up?".   I replied yes and he reformatted the disk and reinstalled the OS from the store server.   We then installed the Photoshop CS6 trial (much quicker than all of CS6) and it worked fine.   We created another user, and PS worked for that user too.  I then installed the Vidyo Desktop client that was hanging and it worked.   Clearly the problem had something to do with the Migration Assistant.   I had migrated two users, one from a recent MacBook Air running the current release of Mountain Lion, and one from my old desktop Mac Pro which is too old to run Mountain Lion and so was running the last release of Lion.  Since that machine started out running 10.4.7 (Tiger) and had been through numerous upgrades both "the genius" and I thought the problem was probably something old and nasty that was migrated from that machine.
We were wrong.  When I got the machine home I ran the Migration Assistant again to move the user from the MacBook Air.  ....and that broke CS6 again.  And it broke it for all users on the machine.
Yet another FDISK and OS install (aaarrrrgghhh).    I'm now working on building the machine installing one app at a time and moving files manually.  Everything's working fine so far.
I suppose I could test whether or not it's specific to that MacBook by migrating the user from the Lion machine again, but if it fails it's another FDISK and OS install, and I'm now seeing installer progress bars in my sleep, so I think I'll pass.
The moral of the story:   If you're a CS user, stay far, far away from Apple's Migration Assistant.

  • WebLogic 10.3.2.0 hanging at startup after "The server log file is opened."

    Hi,
A WebLogic 10.3.2.0 server is hanging at startup. There are no error messages. The last command in the startup window is:
"The server log file <log file dest> is opened. All server side log events will be written to this file."
I think the next line should be:
"Security initializing using security realm realm."
Any ideas on what could be the issue? For instance what resources should be accessed at that point of time? There is sufficient space left on the (virtual machine) disk. The VM configured with 8GB memory. Could it be performance related still?

  • Firefox 31 hangs on startup with no error messages

Simply put, Firefox hangs right on startup. I see it loading the two generic tabs and then the wheel spins and then it says 'Not Responding' on the top of the window. I have to force close it each and every time, and I've also tried the following solutions in no particular order to alleviate the issue:
    1) Ran SuperAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes last night for any possible infections. Reported back with nothing.
    2) Booted my laptop up in Safe Mode (with networking) and still couldn't get it to operate.
    3) Performed several clean uninstalls and re-installations which also included clearing out the profiles altogether and then trying to open it again, nothing.
    4) Booted up Firefox by holding down the shift key and resetted it to its default settings and then tried firing it up again. Nothing.
    5) Attempted booting up FF in Safe Mode with the shift key, nothing.
    6) Created a new profile and tried booting FF, nothing.
    7) Read this article http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_hangs#Hyper-Threading about Hyper-Threading and followed the instructions which got it to operate, but I can't access the toolbar or the option menus. When I click on options Firefox closes with no error messages. I have a feeling this isn't the issue at hand but I figure I'd try it and at least I can get it to fully load and not hang.
    8) Deleted all Firefox extensions and Plug-ins, nothing.
    9) Enabled Firefox through firewall and antivirus settings, nothing.
    10) Updated my BIOS firmware as suggested in #7, nothing.
I've done almost 10 different things and I still can't figure out why Firefox keeps hanging on startup. I've looked into Youtube videos for tutorials and others posted about the Java crashing that was happening in an earlier version of FF. Since its not crashing, I'm unable to look into the crash logs and pinpoint a crash number or anything because it just freezes and when I click to close it I get a message saying: 'Close program' or 'Wait for it to respond.'
I'm running a 64 bit Windows 7 on an HP Pavilion g6-1c44wm Notebook PC
Microprocessor 2.10 GHz Intel Pentium Processor B950
    Microprocessor Cache 2MB L3 Cache
    Memory 4GB DDR3 SDRAM (1 DIMM)
Memory Max Maximum supported = 8GB
    Video Graphics Intel HD Graphics
    Video Memory Up to 1696MB
    Hard Drive 500GB 5400RPM)
I'm trying to be specific as possible! Please help! I'm at the end of my rope here!

Try to completely uninstall firefox, that means to '''delete''' the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Installation_directory#Windows Installation directory] located for your 64bit in C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\ , also, '''delete''' the C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox and '''if exist''', '''delete''' the C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox.
then download and install again a new full installer from : https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/
disable firewall and antivirus and antispyware for a little bit, and run firefox. any luck ?
    thank you

  • How do I extract multiple tracks from a CD into a single file in Audition CS6?

I use Audition to edit my Pastor's messages. The message CD is made with five minute tracks. I want to extract the tracks from the CD into a single file for editing and altering the track lengths. I have done this before in Audition CS6, but I haven't been able to find instructions for it. I only found a note stating this is available in AuditionCC.

I have discovered an answer to my problem. The way to bring multiple tracks into Audition CS6 from a CD is to use the FILE / OPEN APPEND / TO NEW command. This brings the separate tracks into a single file in Audition CD6. Thanks to everyone who commented.

  • Windows 8 freezes while I try to watch online Flash content and running Audition CS6

I recently bought a online introduction course to Auditon CS6 on Vimeo.com
While I have a setup where I put the lecture on one screen and the program on the other I like to follow tutorials and learn how to use software.
However this proves to be impossible for me in Audition, because for some reason my computer gets completely unresponsive after a little while of watching the lectures with Audition running.
It never happens when Audition hasn't been launched, and I'm kind of suspecting a driver conflict, but I don't have a fancy audio card in my computer, (just built in Realtek,) and find it a bit
odd that it wouldn't be supported as it is some of the most common audio setups around. As far as I know the system runs stable with Audition running and no Flash content started as well.
This has happened for the last couple of months and I've updated Flash and drivers as they roll out. Audition CS6 is downloaded with the Creative Cloud application Manager.
Here is some general info on my computer:
OS: Windows 8 Pro 64 bit.
Motherboard: eVGA x58 Classified (Tried with stock BIOS and also updated to new BIOS)
    Audio Card: Realtek (on motherboard)
Graphics: Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 Ti
The system storage device is a SSD (Firmware recently updated due to BSODs apearing, and seems to be resolved.)
I do believe that this might not be a Audition issue, but rather a issue with Flash. However Audition + Flash reproduces this problem faster than anything else I can remember this happening while
using other 3rd party software while playing Flash. (Not exactly the type of software.) I have a suspicion that it is something that occurs if Flash and other programs is paging/wiring/reading the SSD...
I can't remember this happening with Photoshop or other Adobe software, and so I'm also curious to how different Audition runs "under the hood" so to speak. What is it constantly checking
that could lead to a hardware conflict.

A month ago I uninstalled AVG Internet security from my computer making it a lot less potent to BSODs in general, (can't reacall having any.) So today I thought I'd try to learn some more Audition. I could Sit with it for a good while just playing around with recordings and settings and my system didn't react weirdly at all. So the next step was of course to try and load some of the Udemy lectures I had waiting.
As the video was buffering I turned away from the computer for a while, but when I came back it had completely froze up again... I don't think I've ever had a BSOD in this context either, instead of going into BSOD the computer just stops responding completely.
(I'm using the latest version of Flash, tried with both Firefox and Chrome.)
I'm thinking this is a very niche bug and I can't seem to se that it can be anything but a conflict with Flash. Weither it's a memory leek or what ever it is.
I can use Audition fine on my computer it seems, as long as I never start a browser in risk of loading a Flash application, (which would be fine if I was avid, but I need some lectures to get started.)
Nothing really seems to be overloaded (RAM/CPU) before the freeze ocurs either.
I  don't really know where or how to adress this to the Flash Player forum/community, (or if there is one.)
    Thanks.
