Audition CS6 Load Screen messed up

Not sure if this is even anything to be concerrned about, but starting just a few days ago, possibly with the last windows updates, when I start Audition, the green load box/splash screen is messed up.  It looks like it is jumbled up or kind of overlapped on itself, and my workspace, which I am using a dual screen layout, his layered with one window on top of the other.  Has anyone else noticed this or know if this is something that can be fixed?  I tried uninstalling and removing all the audition files and registry entries I could find and reinstalling, but it hasn't helped.  I'm running this on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

That's what the screen looks like.  I'm running 2 Asus Radeon 7790 2 GB video cards cross-fired.

  • Can't load ASIO driver / device could not be opened error in Audition CC but not Audition CS6

I have a M-Audio Fast Track Ultra USB 2.0 that I use for audio.  I installed Audition CC and it wont let me use the ASIO driver for it.  I get the device could not be opened error.  On the same system I have Audition CS6 which works with the ASIO driver fine.  Also have Vegas, Premiere, etc - all on the same machine and no problems with the M-Audio driver.  I can load the Blackmagic ASIO driver but don't use that for audio mixing.  Changing Use Machine Specific Device Defaults and Force Hardware to Sample Rate does nothing.   Running Windows 7 64 bit.

M-Audio 64-bit driver is apparently troublesome, but the 32-bit one works fine - which explains why CS6 works and CC doesn't. As far as I can find out, you aren't the only person with this problem - have a look at this Reaper forum thread - you may get some useful information from it (no promises!)

  • Flash CS6 crashing on loading screen - everytime.

    Hi All,
Ive just purchased Adobe Design and Web Premium.
Ive managed to run other applications without any problem, like Photoshop 64bit, Illustrator 64bit, InDesign and Dreamweaver.
However, everytime I tried to run Flash Professional CS6 it crashes when the loading screen appears.
It says "Adobe Flash CS6 has stopped working"
My system is running on Win 7 64bit
Ive also updated my windows and ran Adobe Updates.
Oh also tried uninstalling and clean up using the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner
Still it crashes... only Flash Pro. The rest aint got any problem.
Would appreciate if there's any help or tips you can give.

Is anyone esle still having this problem? I tried removing preferences and still got the error. I also uninstalled the entire CS6 install, ran the Adobe CS6 cleaunup tool and removed everything, reinstalled. I can get it to run if I run it as Admin, but that's annoying to click away the UAC prompt all the time and I don't like running programs as admin if I can avoid it for general security reasons..
I thought it might be like Photoshop where it's incorrectly setup to run from a multi- hard disk environment like mine where the registry is setup to have user folders and files on a separate drive ( see this photoshop thread) but there doesn't seem to be any way of changing scratch disks in InDesign like the photoshop work-around.
    Anyway, here's my system info:
    Windows 7 Ultimate x64
    xeon x5550 ht
    8gb RAM
    ATI Firepro 1gb
    2 disks

  • Audition CS6 fails to load default i/o device - requires reboot to work

We've got a workstation at our radio studio that runs Audition CS6, version 5.0.2, build 7 under Windows XP SP3.  It uses a Digigram VX222v2 sound card as its default with an ASIO driver.
    The problem...
The production engineer will open the program and get the following error message:
"Loading the default input and output devices failed.   The device could not be opened.  Would you like to review Audition's audio hardware preferences?"
When clicking "OK," the operator gets a message that the driver or device is unavailable and the program defaults to the built-in Windows sound card and MME driver.  Only a complete system reboot will get things working again.  She has no other programs running on the system that use the Digigram card.
    Any thoughts?

Is the "Use machine specific device defaults" box ticked in Preferences/Audio Hardware? This should ensure that the correct device is selected when Audition starts. Also make sure that "Release ASIO driver in background" is not ticked.

  • Windows 8 freezes while I try to watch online Flash content and running Audition CS6

I recently bought a online introduction course to Auditon CS6 on Vimeo.com
While I have a setup where I put the lecture on one screen and the program on the other I like to follow tutorials and learn how to use software.
However this proves to be impossible for me in Audition, because for some reason my computer gets completely unresponsive after a little while of watching the lectures with Audition running.
It never happens when Audition hasn't been launched, and I'm kind of suspecting a driver conflict, but I don't have a fancy audio card in my computer, (just built in Realtek,) and find it a bit
odd that it wouldn't be supported as it is some of the most common audio setups around. As far as I know the system runs stable with Audition running and no Flash content started as well.
This has happened for the last couple of months and I've updated Flash and drivers as they roll out. Audition CS6 is downloaded with the Creative Cloud application Manager.
Here is some general info on my computer:
OS: Windows 8 Pro 64 bit.
Motherboard: eVGA x58 Classified (Tried with stock BIOS and also updated to new BIOS)
    Audio Card: Realtek (on motherboard)
Graphics: Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 Ti
The system storage device is a SSD (Firmware recently updated due to BSODs apearing, and seems to be resolved.)
I do believe that this might not be a Audition issue, but rather a issue with Flash. However Audition + Flash reproduces this problem faster than anything else I can remember this happening while
using other 3rd party software while playing Flash. (Not exactly the type of software.) I have a suspicion that it is something that occurs if Flash and other programs is paging/wiring/reading the SSD...
I can't remember this happening with Photoshop or other Adobe software, and so I'm also curious to how different Audition runs "under the hood" so to speak. What is it constantly checking
that could lead to a hardware conflict.

A month ago I uninstalled AVG Internet security from my computer making it a lot less potent to BSODs in general, (can't reacall having any.) So today I thought I'd try to learn some more Audition. I could Sit with it for a good while just playing around with recordings and settings and my system didn't react weirdly at all. So the next step was of course to try and load some of the Udemy lectures I had waiting.
As the video was buffering I turned away from the computer for a while, but when I came back it had completely froze up again... I don't think I've ever had a BSOD in this context either, instead of going into BSOD the computer just stops responding completely.
(I'm using the latest version of Flash, tried with both Firefox and Chrome.)
I'm thinking this is a very niche bug and I can't seem to se that it can be anything but a conflict with Flash. Weither it's a memory leek or what ever it is.
I can use Audition fine on my computer it seems, as long as I never start a browser in risk of loading a Flash application, (which would be fine if I was avid, but I need some lectures to get started.)
Nothing really seems to be overloaded (RAM/CPU) before the freeze ocurs either.
I  don't really know where or how to adress this to the Flash Player forum/community, (or if there is one.)
    Thanks.

  • Appcrash with multitrack sessions in Audition CS6 on a MacBook Pro with Windows 7

This is an issue with multitrack sessions different from 44100 Hz in Audition CS6 (as part of a Premium Suite CS6). While multitrack sessions with  a sampling rate of  44100 Hz works normally (as long as I use clips with 44100 Hz) any other sampling rate causes  an APPCRASH (s. below). Also with the insertion ( in a 44100 Hz multitrack session, of course) of any clip with a sampling rate different from 44100 Hz, the programme crashes in the moment it's going to generate a adapted copy for the multitrack timeline.
Audition is installed on a MacBook Pro Retina 15" ,Mid 2014, Model 11,3, Intel Core i7 4870HQ 2,5 GHz, 16GB RAM  with  Windows 7 SP1.
I tried all advices of the Adobe troubleshooting site and some of the community.
    Especially:
    - the simplified mode with user-defined system start
    - deactivated user account control
    - new user account
    - deactivated data execution prevention (DEP)
Also the use of different audio interfaces affords no effect:
    - build in Cirrus Logic CS4208 with MME drivers
    - Motu UltraLight mk3 hybrid via USB with Asio drivers.
In spite of an extensive search I can't find any similar case in the net.
So, please, can you help me?

I'm afraid you are right. At the worst I'm more than 50% of the audition users on a mac with windows. To solve the problem within a passable time I would like to change to the mac version of audition. But unfortunately it's impossible to use the mac version with a windows licence. And CS6 licences (mac audition) are not longer available (only at a moon rate).
Because of the weekend we can pass the time with the latest news of my trouble-shooting.
The crash is not only within the multitrack session but also within the waveform view: when I try to change the sampling rate (Edit -> Convert Sample Type) the programme crashes with the same problem signature. And here it crashes with all sampling rates , including 44.1k audio files. On the other hand I can play all sampling rates within the waveform view.
I compared the logfile from the predecessor of the MacBook , a LG Notebook with windows vista and a working Au CS6 with the current logfile of the Mac: They are identical at the beginning and at the end (termination sequence). But after " Initializing AuScripting"  there is a "DLMS 6.0x39 FileServer startup code: 0" and the listing of a couple of codecs in the Notebook logfile - but not so in the Mac logfile.
Also the logfile of my workstation with a working Au CS6 shows this "DLMS 6.0x39 FileServer startup code" - line. Because of the two working and one crashing computer this part of the logfile seems to be important ??

  • Adobe Audition CS6 Keeps Crashing?

Everytime I record vocals and go to click stop, or anything of the sort (sometimes its even adding effects and other stuff),
at complete random a box comes up on the screen entitling:
Adobe Audition CS6 has stopped working. Windows is searching for a solution to the problem and will notify you when a solution is found.
and therefore forces me to close the program. This now happens EVERYTIME I record vocals for my music....
Upon start up of audition again this box comes up:
When I click continue, it will open my last recording session but the audio is always missing from the files and I have to re-record everything.
This happens every single time i use audition and its quite frustrating. Ive tried all three buttons but either way i have to restart.
Ive tried the shift trick when you first start the program, and i opened my project but it still continued to do the same thing...
    Any Suggestions?

Well since you've tried the Vanilla startup, the only other option is to uninstall and reinstall the software. If it continues to happen after that, you have a fault in your computer, regardless of whether it's a Mac or PC.

  • Audition CS6 crashes on opening. Cloud

Audition CS6 crashes on opening every time. I have not been able to get it to work once.
I have downloaded and installed the patch. Still not working
I have tried to open while holding shift. Still not working
I have renamed the folder in the roaming as 5.0BACKUP. Still not working
I have created and replaced the Debug Database.txt. Still not working
I have uninstalled and reinstalled. Still not working
I have unistalled quicktime. Still not working.
    Any other ideas?

Thanks.  When you say "Within 10 seconds of launching..." does Audition actually get to a point where it displays the application window and panels?  Does it show the "Adobe Audition" launch image?  If so, it should update a line of text in that image as it loads various components it uses and if it crashes while this image is still visible, the last displayed text before it crashes would be very helpful.

  • OS X freezes when on loading screen

I was listening to iTunes and OS X crashed and I had to restart my computer. i opened it again and it crashed my computer again. Then after i restarted i decided to not mess with iTunes and try photoshop, that crashed my computer i had to restart and ever since then my computer will turn on, and the loading screen will come on, the bar moves all the way to the right, but then it just says "Starting Mac OS X" and does nothing. Is there anything i can do to fix this? I have tried restarting, nothing works. I am sorry if this is the wrong forum to post this in, but i need help regardless

  • G5 Stopped at loading screen

My PowerMac G5 gets through to the loading screen. At this point the loading bar moves extremely slow. Once it reaches the end nothing happens, like it's caught in some loop. My question is, how do I fix my computer to load up to the login screen?
    Timeline:
-Quit a Program that I was debugging, and accidently quit the finder with it. (Normally when this happens the finder either reloads or I launch it myself)
-When I launched the finder my computer just shut off.
-I load my computer and then out of random it shuts off another 4 times.
-eventually it stopped and I started working on something, while I was waitting for one of my projects to render I tried switching to another account and my computer shuts off.
-I then tried to reinstall OS X 4 with saving my User accounts.
-I get into my main account fine then I switch over to the root account and my computer shuts off.
-I reboot and that leads to the problem that I am asking.
    Things I have tried:
    -Disk Utility
-Techtool Deluxe(With target mode it shows up on the finder but Techtools doesn't see it)
    -Single-User login to reset prefs.
    -Reset SMU

Hello! If you can get into any account EXCEPT the one causing problems then create a new one and see if it works ok. If so then you've trashed the other account. If you can't get into ANY account then an erase and re-installation is in order. It sounds like the account is so messed up it can't get to the login screen and/or a hard shutdown or restart may have corrupted the disk drive directory. Have you tried booting with the shift key down? Also have you tried booting from your install disc and repairing the drive? Tom

  • How can I improve audio processing in Audition CS6?

I'm a Pro Tools user, slowly migrating to Audition.  I am NOT using this as an opportunity to bash either product.  They're both great AND frustrating at the same time.
One great thing about Pro Tools, in my opinion, is the way the tracks handle processing.  Almost regardless of what I'd put on a vocal track (radio imaging voice) like an EQ with a mid spike, with compressing and L1 limiting smashing it, once it went through the master track (with an L2 with "High Res CD Master setting on it), everything "came out in the wash."  Meaning, the master track in Pro Tools always managed to smooth things out nicely.
I'm not having that experience in Audition, and I'm guessing it may be me and my workflow.
    1.  I take a pristine clean voice track and place it on a a track.
    2.  One example is, I use Trackplug 5 for EQ.  It's a simple cut off of everything under about 420.
    3.  That's followed by Waves' CLA Vocals Stereo.  I use that for a nice compression, limiting and hint of verb on it.
    4.  Other sound FX go on other tracks.  Beds, sound design, etc.
    5.  On the Master Track in Audition, I place the L2, using the "High Res CD Master" setting.
    6.  After completing the piece, I do one of two things:  either I "right click" in the master track and select "Bounce Master To New Track", or in some cases, select all the regions in my piece and use the "Bounce To New Track" function, followed by a shortcut of the L2 mastering, same setting.
Either method produces an overmodulated mess of distortion and general unhappiness.  I will admit, I like things to punch through hard, and pushing the audio can sometimes get that effect in either program, but not THIS bad.
    Any thoughts?
    Thank you!!
Mac Pro, OSX 10.7.5, Adobe Audition CS6, Waves 9.1

I get the feeling that PT somehow actually stops you making the most mess that it's possible to!
The 'problem' (it's not really) with Audition is simply that it doesn't do this at all - if you make an almighty mess, then that's exactly what you get. This is why it's been possible to use Audition for scientific/acoustic measurements, which nobody would ever dream of using PT for; i.e., accurate results.
So if you like, PT crashes into 0dB quite gracefully; I think it's more like analog tape. With Audition, you absolutely get what you did, and it's up to you to sort it out. You could perhaps argue that PT is helping you to get a usable result more easily, and you might have a point...
Personally I prefer accurate results, and I've learned to be careful about processing limits. OTOH, if you put a good analog tape simulator in the master channel, chances are that you will achieve something similar with Audition, but...
What happens technically is that until relatively recently, PT didn't use a Floating Point processor in their mixer, and arrived at the results they did in a somewhat different way to Audition, which has always used it. With Floating Point processing, it's possible to get a massively overloaded output from the mixer which, when you monitor it, sounds absolutely awful through an output that's inherently integer-based in your sound device. But actually, it's accurate - and if you normalize this massive overload back to 0dB in waveform view, it will sound fine again - as if by magic. Most people find that once you've realized what's happening, and don't let the output monitor level get too hot, everything's fine.

  • Audition CS6 Flash Video

    Hi,
today I downloaded the Audition CS6 trial. I have used CS5 a while back, but mostly use Ableton these days. However, thought I'd give Audition a whirl. Following a tutorial to try it out, I came to the Video Clip ( Lynda.com - Audition CS6 Essential Training - 02 03. Importing video files).
I found that AVI files were only loading the audio and Flash Video files were reported as either corrupt (incorrectly) or unsupported. After some investigation (prompted by the error message) I followed the Adobe comment in this regard "To enable the following formats, select Enable DLMS Format Support in the Media & Disk Cache preferences. (This option is off by default for maximum performance.) AVI/FLV/R3D/SWF/WMV". This allowed me then to load .F4V flash video files, but still gave the corrupt/unsupported error (without the help suggesting the setting which is now set of course) when attempting .FLV files. The files in question work fine in several video players I have on my machine.
The noticeable difference in the file heaqders (binary) is as follows:
    [F4V - working]     hex: 00 00 00 1C 66 74 79 70 6D 70 34 32 Text: .....ftypmp42
    [FLV not working] hex: 46 4C 56 01 05 00 00 00 09 00 00  00 Text: FLV.........
Therefore, they appear to be different versions of Flash Video - F4V is actually MP4, whereas FLV is Flash Video (video/x-flv).
Adobe states here : http://helpx.adobe.com/audition/using/supported-file-formats.html#video_file_formats that FLV is supported (MP4 was supported in CS5 I believe anyway).
So, the question is...does Audition CS6 really support FLV (aka Flash Video) - or just Adobe suffixed MP4 files? (If so, how do we get it to?)
The test machine is Windows 7 Ultimate 64 (running both ASIO and MME). Au Cache on a second drive. 4Gb Ram (DDR2) quad processor 3.8Ghz, planty of HDD space.
I am a teacher based in Asia, so we (the school) do not have a lot of money to throw about - the machine is fairly high spec, but we do not have any Apple hardware here, so it has to be Windows [I have an Educator/School Adobe Account Id, so we will go that route if at all]. Controller was not connected/No midi or digital sound devices (other than the sound card) attached. Test videos were the f4v file from Lydia and a YouTube download of Blondie, Call Me (although I tried other .flv's in case of corruption - and as they play on VLC/Adobe Player/Windows Media Player, it is unlikely).
Sorry if this has been mentioned before - I did look, but could only find mention of the setting already set as mentioned above (and I did restart Au after changing it - and did check it was still set on reload). Other comments were related to Premiere Pro (which is not on the machine - neither is either of the Flash builders - only Flash Player 10.3 I think as 11 was causing some CPU issues a while back with video streaming).
Thanks for any help in this regard.
    Richard.

That´s possible with Audition 3.0, but in wmv format (and avi format)... Maybe appears soon an update with this missing feature... in CS7 version??? :O
P.S.: I think we all need Adobe Premiere Pro, to export video files from Audition CS6.

  • Premiere Pro CS6 and Audition CS6 not playing any media

I'm having a problem with both Premiere pro and Audition CS6 not playing back any media when I hit play. The play button shows that it should be playing back but the playhead doesn't move at all. I'm on a late 2011 Macbook Pro running Mountain Lion 10.8.2 with 16gb RAM and an SSD. I've already completely uninstalled and reinstalled both application multiple times to try to get this working. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Experiencing Strange Distortion or Artifacts in Audition CS6 Playback

    Hello,
I am on the 30 day trial for Audition CS6.  I immediately noticed something strange while working with the program.  I do occasional stock sound effects and typically work in Audion CS3 with no problems at all.
Here is an example of what I am expeeriencing.
I loaded a WAV file of a human heartbeat into edit view and when it plays back, there is some distortion, almost similar to the sound of high level compression in the higher frequencies of the playback, or perhaps similar to what a phaser might do, but without the sweeping.  It will do this in both edit and multitrack views.
Interestingly, when playing back the WAV file on the original recording device, Audition CS3 or even just Windows Media Player, this distortion is not there.  It is only when played back in Audition CS6 that I can clearly hear this.  Additionally, when the audio is exported from CS6 as a WAV, Mp3, etc the distortion is not present.
I have a fairly typical higher-end PC. Windows 7 64bit, 12 GB ram, Intel corei7 3.4 ghz.  Integrated Realtek 5.1 souund with updated drivers.  Audio Hardware settings in Autiion set to MME, inputs and outputs set to the sound card appropriately.
I've thumbed through all of the prefs and can't seem to locate the cause of this problem. I guess the most interesting aspect of this is it seems to be isolated to Audition CS6, as I can not reproduce the issue in any other sound application. Any tips would be appreciated.  Really want to upgrade, but would like to see if there is a fix for this.
    Thanks!

This sounds remarkably like the symptoms of the Microsoft-acknowledged resampling problem in W7. You need to make sure that your sound device sample rate is set to the same sample rate that Audition is using, otherwise the OS will resample the output. Since it's M$ resampling, it's absolute crap, and adds all sorts of artefacts. There's nothing wrong with Audition CS6's output at all - that's been thoroughly tested - unlike W7, it would seem. Why just CS6? I think that this relates to the relationship between the software and the sound device, and what gets reset or not, although somebody with more direct experience of the problem could probably comment more authoritatively about that. I don't know, because I don't use any version of W7.
