Audition CS6 Silent Export troubble

The export File function of Audition cs6 is very temperamental. I mixed a live band recording and when I try to export, the resulting file is empty, silent, not recognized by iTunes etc. I've looked through every help thing on this forum and none of the advice has worked. the only thing that does work is turning off all the effects, when I do that I have an audible exported file. It's confusing because I've already mixed two whole albums with no trouble like this before, I understand the principals of exporting and have done it many times before. Playback is very poor, in terms of number of dropped samples, lag between pressing the play button and start of play back can be up to 30 seconds, this makes me think that I don't have enough computing power to export the mix, but it should should still be able to do it even if it takes three hours or export a two minuet tracks.
things I have tried:
make sure all tracks are touted to the master track
no tracks are muted
all bus tracks route to master track
exported file matches sample rate, buffer size, and file type of the source recordings
playback is audible in the multitrack and wave form windows
frequency analysis works ( but lagged about three seconds)
VU meters light up (but lag about three seconds)
tried mixing down to new file within Audition results in silence
tried exporting to Premier results in silence
exporting individual tracks from the wave form editor works fine except a sound like someone smashing a reverb plate with a hammer is placed at the header.
My Suspicion:
That my computer does not have enough ram to export my tracks with effects processing. Because when I disable all effects on tracks and buses the export works.
My system: 2010 mac book pro /OSX 10.6/ 4 gig RAM memory/ 88 gigs free hd space/ Audition CS6
Session Setup:
10 tracks (each with one to five FX)
5 buses (1-5 FX each)
Here's my Multitrack Window
My Export Settings:
The result open in Audition showing a 1:56 long 30 megabyte silent track:
What am I doing wrong? too many FX going? not enough RAM? did I miss a button or a setting? session formatted wrong? I've been trying for almost a week now.

Here are the tracks and their waveforms.

  • Audition CS6 Video Exporting

    Hi!
I'm working with Audition CS6 to modify the audiotrack of a video, but it seems not to allow me to export a video format file when I'm finished. I've tried installing lots of codecs and stuff, but nothing. I see a "export file" setting, but it only works for audio tracks. Is it really not posible to export a video file with the new modified audio?

That´s possible with Audition 3.0, but in wmv format (and avi format)... Maybe appears soon an update with this missing feature... in CS7 version??? :O
P.S.: I think we all need Adobe Premiere Pro, to export video files from Audition CS6.

  • Adobe audition cs6 stops exporting mixdown at 50%

AA CS6 will stop exporting a mixdown at 49% sometimes 50%.  Any suggestions?   I have been using AA for a few years now and this is the first time I have had this issue.

No, it's not a ram issue, 64 bit with 16 gig and over 600 gig free space.  I think I have it narrowed down to being a VST problem.
Are any of the VSTs included with audition known to cause issues on Macs?  The only other VSTs I use with audition are some of the Izotope's.
I really hope it isn't a issue with them because I use them on every project.
I have transfered the project file and all of the recordings over to my Windows machine and everything loaded up perfect, and the export worked.
I'll let you know if I find the root of the problem.

  • Error exporting Premiere CS6 sequence to edit in Audition CS6

    Hi there!
I've been trying to export a sequence from Premiere CS6 to edit in Audition CS6 through "edit>edit in Adobe Audition>sequence". However, I keep receiving the following error message:
Premiere Pro has encountered an error.
    [../../Src/Sequence/TrackItem.cpp-171]
When I hit continue the rendering doesn't move forward and I have to cancel the process.
Does anyone has a clue what could be wrong???
    Thanks a lot!

  • Adobe Audition CS6 (5.0.1) update patch released

UPDATE:  A new 5.0.1 update build has been made available as of July 20, 2012, due to an issue discovered in the Dynamics Processing effect.  If you previously updated Adobe Audition CS6, please visit the links below and install the new update.  This update is not available via Adobe Update Manager and must be downloaded via the website.
Today we released an update to address several bugs in Audition CS6. Many were minor workflow issues, but a few could cause Audition to crash under certain circumstances.
Download the patch installer directly from:
    Windows: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5419
    Mac: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5418
bugs fixed in Adobe Audition CS6 5.0.1 update:
APE files with metadata inserted by other editors cause Audition to crash (Windows)
If previous session directory no longer exists, Audition leaves the Folder Location field empty
Multitrack fades no longer respect the fade type preference.  (Worked in CS5.5)
Audition may crash when users choose to create unique copies of selected MT regions
Playback stutters when creating a unique copy of a clip while right-click dragging
Channel Mix settings not honored on export when not exposed in dialog
EUCON Soft Key set contains keys that do nothing
Session Tempo broken on systems using commas instead of decimal points
Bounce to New Track > Selected Track bounces AFTER passing through track output
If a favorite was recorded on subset of channels, the favorite will fail if those channels are disabled
Sending a stereo bus side-chained to a mono track may crash the application
UAD-2 plug-ins missing from Windows Effects menu
Audition may crash on launch when CoolType encounters certain installed fonts (Mac)

I'm really happy to see this update out, but I haven't been able to install it on my Mac yet.
The Updates item in the help menu is greyed out for me. When I try running the installer from the direct download it says 'Updates have been suppressed by your administrator.'
I can't imagine that I would have disabled updates.
    Any advice?
    Joseph

  • Adobe Audition CS6 (5.0.2) update patch released

    Hey Audition friends!
This morning we released an update patch for Adobe Audition CS6.  This update, version 5.0.2 for Mac and Windows, fixes several bugs discovered after release that could not be fixed in time for the earlier patch, and cleans up a few odds and ends to ensure Audition is fully compatible for use on Windows 8.  Briefly, here are the primary bug fixes:
    Metronone may skip or stutter
Windows registry entry missing backslash in path
Eucon/Avid Artist control surface touchscreen: Control of Surround Panner does not work
Bounce to New Track > Selected Track: New track is now based on channelization of source track
Windows 8: Third-party drivers do not have a valid WHQL signature
CD Burning: Removed 78 minute limit from CD Layout.
Audition may crash on Mac when exporting to OMF
Audition may crash when attempting to bounce a track with a channelization that does not match the Master track
You may install the update by selecting Help > Updates… in Adobe Audition CS6 or through the Adobe Application Manager tool.  Additionally, you may download the patch installer directly for Mac and Windows.

Since 5.02 is an update, not an upgrade (there's a technical difference under the hood) then you shouldn't need to rescan for VSTs or anything - the new executable will use the same settings files.  However, I would suggest NOT updating in the middle of a project as a good rule of thumb.  If you choose to, I might suggest backing up the existing application files or folder so you could easily restore if you chose to.  There were no major changes introduced between 5.0 and 5.02 except for some bug fixes to improve stability, so you'll probably be safe, but unless you're running into one of the specific issues described, my recommendation would be to wait.
As for your second question, I don't know the answer to that.  What happens when you attempt to perform a mixdown?  There was some work done for the 6.0 release that would have reduced problems when trying to mixdown with UAD and other instance-limited plugins.  If you enable Track Pre-Render for those tracks, by clicking the lightning bolt icon in the Effects Rack or the "fx" view in the track panel for those tracks, do you still experience a problem?

  • PPro cs6 - Audition cs6 - PPro, round trip problem

I'm having trouble completing the round trip. I got my audio tracks from PPro CS6 to Audition CS6 without problems, right by the manual. But I'm having trouble getting that audio work back  into PPro.
I'm working a mid-sized project (one hour class, two cameras, etc. headed for DVD). Got edit lock. Everything is done now except for cleaning up audio. After the audio I can send the whole lot to Encore for DVD making. But first, audio.
Took the entire sequence to Audition  via PPro's  "Edit...Edit in Adobe Audition...Sequence..."  path. This worked just fine. It pushed all the audio files to Audition, Audition opened up and gave me a "make an Audition project" dialog box, etc. Nearly 100 files came over to Audition, on the right tracks, in the right order. Very nice. Made my changes. So far so good.
What I've read in the manual says that all I have to do when I'm done is "File...Save" in Audition, then PPro will have and use the changes. Sorta like Dynamic Link, but different. So I did the the project save.
At this point, things deviated a little from the plan. I started up PPro, opened the project, and no sign of the Audition work. Can't find a file anywhere in the project panel that says Audition on it. The files on the timeline are still the dark green of the multi-camera edit, not the lighter green of an Audition file. When I've done this for individual clips, I've gotten back a file with a name like "*Audio Extracted_1.wav" that shows up with the same green as the Audition icon on my desktop.
So I thought, fine. Not as easy as I had hoped. I'll just have to import it manually. But PPro doesn't seem to have any idea how to deal with a *.sesx file, which is the project file from Audition.
Should I be exporting, say, a *.wav file from Audition (how?) and import that into PPro? And if I do, is there a good workflow to re-sync this audio with my video tracks?
I'm confused. Don't know what I did wrong. Don't know what do to fix it. Don't know how to avoid this in the future. So any help gratefully received.
    Bruce Watson

    OK, now I *am* confused.
Just did it again (a different DVD project however), as described in my original post. This time PPro stayed open for me. So I sent all the sequence audio files to Audition via the "Edit...Edit in Adobe Audition...Sequence..." comman, then did my editing in Audition, and saved it the Audition project. Go back to PPro, and... nothing. No sign of any file from Audition in the project panel. No sign on the time line. No sign of any Audition file anywhere in PPro that I can find.
What gives? What am I doing wrong?
What I did get was a folder at the same directory level as my PPro project file, a folder in it with the project_name I gave Auditon when it opened from the PPro  "Edit...Edit in Adobe Audition...Sequence..." command, and then two files for every clip in the project (a *.wav and a *.pkf), and finally two more files, a project_name.xml and a project_name.xml.sesx.
I suppose I can export a *.wav file to PPro manually. Worked before. But I'd like to learn the "correct" way, the way Adobe intends it to work.
Darned if I can figure out what I'm doing wrong though. Help???

  • How to solve Audition CS6 error "The amount of audio to burn will not fit on the CD........."?

I have a brand new PC that is MORE than adequate. I have once succeeded in burning a CD after learning all about time tracks and merging them. (made a few with only ONE track)
    Two things:
    1) I find that I must add a CD marker at the end of the WAV because Audition CS6 erases whatever is the last CD marker I've made. Very frustrating but now I know I have to do this but I have no idea WHY!!
    2) Right now I have a WAV that is just over 1 hour and 3 minutes with a total of 637.74MB of info. When I try to export/burn a CD, I get an error message stating "The amount of audio to burn will not fit.......".  I am using TDK 700MB blanks with a Pioneer Blu-ray burner.
    Obviously it will fit.
What am I doing wrong, all of a sudden?

    Hey ryclark,
Thanks for responding. Something else is going on here.....
    Here's what I re-replied to our friend...
    Thanks for the response.
When I built this computer last Nov/Dec, it was built with the second
fastest Intel 7i, quad-core chipset on an 64-bit ASUS motherboard. It's  running
Win 7 Pro. It has a 500GB SSD "C" drive with another 14 TB of true hard
drive space. It is set up with 64 bit. I had been using Audition CS3 for  many
years and even go back to it's origin: Cool Edit and Cool Edit Pro. My
learning curve was minimal, sans the CD burning, which I used other software
for  which is now antiquated, so I need Audition for this. Between this and
IZotope 3 I've repaired and improved many a recording. All-in-all extremely
    useful software.
As for the idea "to burn it anyway", well the error message comes up and
that's it - if I "X" out of that message and try to burn again the message
comes  back  - so Audition will not let me. It is convinced that this file is
longer than it really is, but only when I add track  marks to it!
    There are only 11 tracks.
I was able to burn a CD of this same file but without all the track marks,
so the same exact file length/size will burn, only as the one track.
I've also succeeded in burning other WAV's , both greater and smaller, with
and without multiple track marks, without issue. Of course all with less
    than the CD's max. capacity.
This problem seems to be with this one file. I've even  re-made/re-recorded
the file from scratch with no change. There's something else  going on here
that I can't put my finger on. (I am "recording" LP's and making  personal
    CDs of them)
Also, only from time to time, I have another error after burning a CD that
states it could not verify the CD. For this I assume it is the blank rather
than AA? The first might burn without issue and with the second burn I
get the error. It is near the end of a stack of blanks, so.....
As for the need to "mark the end" of the file makes a lot of sense but of
all the other CD track-marking software I've used, none needed one to do
this,  but this IS Adobe after all.
You'd think there might be a smidge of intuitiveness with Adobe, but maybe
    not.

MIDI Sequencing and VSTi support is not available in Audition CS6.  There was a lot of primary feature development this cycle, and I would not have wanted to make the compromises to a MIDI environment that would have been necessary to squeeze it in this cycle.
MIDI composition support remains in our feature backlog and is considered for each release, but there are several reasons it doesn't typically bubble up higher in priority.  Audition and Cool Edit always shined as audio editing tools, and this has always been the focus of the team with MIDI support sort of an afterthought, but never our core competency.  With Audition 3, we built a basic MIDI Sequencer with VSTi support, but ran into some implementation speed bumps when plugging it into the existing playback engine that resulted in a less-than-great experience in my opinion.  It functioned, but I've never felt it held up to the other areas of Audition in terms of usability and simplicity.
I know there are those on the team - myself included - that would love to develop a full MIDI environment, and while it's never been a highly-demanded feature, I know plenty of users would like a basic composition workflow in Audition as well.  If we tackle this, I would hope we can take the time and resources to design a very competent interface that you enjoy using, and not just build something as a check mark on a feature list.  We can start a separate thread on this, perhaps in the Feature Request forum, and discuss in detail what sort of functionality and tools you would like to see in Audition to support MIDI and virtual instruments.

  • How to import markers from soundbooth cs5 into audition cs6

Hello, a series VO wav files were  recorded in SB CS5 and markers where then added .
On opening them in Audition CS6 for multitrack editing all markers are missing.
Then in SB XML files of markers where exported for each file but there is no way Audition will open them, with a warning of corrupted or unsupported format.
So, how can one get either wavs (with markers) orxml markers  into audition cs6 that where created in SB?

    evan.fotis wrote:
How is it, that Adobe uses these xml marker format which AE & PP will recognize (cause they were meant for the suite) but not AU!.. especially now that SB is dumped and AU is supposed to be its successor even though they coexisted previously.
Difficult with integration issues... part of the problem is that, of course, Audition wasn't integrated into the suite when SB was its audio editor - and as such didn't require to be suite-compatible.
Because I don't ever run into these problems - simply because I don't do video - I don't have all of the answers. I do have a question though; if you open your SB file in CS6 Premiere, do you have the same problem with the markers? IOW, can you use the new version as a converter, since I believe that it's possible to transfer markers back and forth (isn't it???) between Premiere and Audition in the new version. Or is that screwed as well?
So this yields the question, what format markers will AU recognize and import? any workaround that does not invovle manually adding them in AU? perhaps renaming to txt or something that AU will understand?
Probably the best person to answer this is Suite Spot, because he's the one that has done all the development work on AATranslator, and has probably forgotten more about this than the rest of us know! What I'm pretty sure of though is that SB doesn't feature in the converter.

  • Audition CS6 Flash Video

    Hi,
today I downloaded the Audition CS6 trial. I have used CS5 a while back, but mostly use Ableton these days. However, thought I'd give Audition a whirl. Following a tutorial to try it out, I came to the Video Clip ( Lynda.com - Audition CS6 Essential Training - 02 03. Importing video files).
I found that AVI files were only loading the audio and Flash Video files were reported as either corrupt (incorrectly) or unsupported. After some investigation (prompted by the error message) I followed the Adobe comment in this regard "To enable the following formats, select Enable DLMS Format Support in the Media & Disk Cache preferences. (This option is off by default for maximum performance.) AVI/FLV/R3D/SWF/WMV". This allowed me then to load .F4V flash video files, but still gave the corrupt/unsupported error (without the help suggesting the setting which is now set of course) when attempting .FLV files. The files in question work fine in several video players I have on my machine.
The noticeable difference in the file heaqders (binary) is as follows:
    [F4V - working]     hex: 00 00 00 1C 66 74 79 70 6D 70 34 32 Text: .....ftypmp42
    [FLV not working] hex: 46 4C 56 01 05 00 00 00 09 00 00  00 Text: FLV.........
Therefore, they appear to be different versions of Flash Video - F4V is actually MP4, whereas FLV is Flash Video (video/x-flv).
Adobe states here : http://helpx.adobe.com/audition/using/supported-file-formats.html#video_file_formats that FLV is supported (MP4 was supported in CS5 I believe anyway).
So, the question is...does Audition CS6 really support FLV (aka Flash Video) - or just Adobe suffixed MP4 files? (If so, how do we get it to?)
The test machine is Windows 7 Ultimate 64 (running both ASIO and MME). Au Cache on a second drive. 4Gb Ram (DDR2) quad processor 3.8Ghz, planty of HDD space.
I am a teacher based in Asia, so we (the school) do not have a lot of money to throw about - the machine is fairly high spec, but we do not have any Apple hardware here, so it has to be Windows [I have an Educator/School Adobe Account Id, so we will go that route if at all]. Controller was not connected/No midi or digital sound devices (other than the sound card) attached. Test videos were the f4v file from Lydia and a YouTube download of Blondie, Call Me (although I tried other .flv's in case of corruption - and as they play on VLC/Adobe Player/Windows Media Player, it is unlikely).
Sorry if this has been mentioned before - I did look, but could only find mention of the setting already set as mentioned above (and I did restart Au after changing it - and did check it was still set on reload). Other comments were related to Premiere Pro (which is not on the machine - neither is either of the Flash builders - only Flash Player 10.3 I think as 11 was causing some CPU issues a while back with video streaming).
Thanks for any help in this regard.
    Richard.

That´s possible with Audition 3.0, but in wmv format (and avi format)... Maybe appears soon an update with this missing feature... in CS7 version??? :O
P.S.: I think we all need Adobe Premiere Pro, to export video files from Audition CS6.

  • Adobe Audition CS6 and Alesis Multimix 8 Firewire choppy playback

I recorded a whole podcast using both Adobe Audition CS6 and Alesis Multimix 8 Firewire, and I originally played it back it was fine.  Now after a week I play it back in Adobe Audition and the dialogue is choppy and repeating itself constantly every second.   When I export it in a multitrack mixdown as a WAV file it still does the same choppy repeating thing.  Has anyone else run into this problem who has a fix?
    Thanks!

I don't use any Alesis products but have heard rumours in another forum that they're having some driver issues.
Maybe as an experiment you could export to a wave file and try playing that through your internal sound card rather than the Multimix.  If playback is clean when not involving the Multimix that may suggest the problem lies in the Alesis gear.  If the skipping is still there then something is likely going on within Audition.

  • Experiencing Strange Distortion or Artifacts in Audition CS6 Playback

    Hello,
I am on the 30 day trial for Audition CS6.  I immediately noticed something strange while working with the program.  I do occasional stock sound effects and typically work in Audion CS3 with no problems at all.
Here is an example of what I am expeeriencing.
I loaded a WAV file of a human heartbeat into edit view and when it plays back, there is some distortion, almost similar to the sound of high level compression in the higher frequencies of the playback, or perhaps similar to what a phaser might do, but without the sweeping.  It will do this in both edit and multitrack views.
Interestingly, when playing back the WAV file on the original recording device, Audition CS3 or even just Windows Media Player, this distortion is not there.  It is only when played back in Audition CS6 that I can clearly hear this.  Additionally, when the audio is exported from CS6 as a WAV, Mp3, etc the distortion is not present.
I have a fairly typical higher-end PC. Windows 7 64bit, 12 GB ram, Intel corei7 3.4 ghz.  Integrated Realtek 5.1 souund with updated drivers.  Audio Hardware settings in Autiion set to MME, inputs and outputs set to the sound card appropriately.
I've thumbed through all of the prefs and can't seem to locate the cause of this problem. I guess the most interesting aspect of this is it seems to be isolated to Audition CS6, as I can not reproduce the issue in any other sound application. Any tips would be appreciated.  Really want to upgrade, but would like to see if there is a fix for this.
    Thanks!

This sounds remarkably like the symptoms of the Microsoft-acknowledged resampling problem in W7. You need to make sure that your sound device sample rate is set to the same sample rate that Audition is using, otherwise the OS will resample the output. Since it's M$ resampling, it's absolute crap, and adds all sorts of artefacts. There's nothing wrong with Audition CS6's output at all - that's been thoroughly tested - unlike W7, it would seem. Why just CS6? I think that this relates to the relationship between the software and the sound device, and what gets reset or not, although somebody with more direct experience of the problem could probably comment more authoritatively about that. I don't know, because I don't use any version of W7.

  • Audition CS6 - "An error was encountered: Not enough memory to perform operation"

When I try to export my entire session using the "Multitrack Mixdown" I get this error message: "An error was encountered: Not enough memory to perform operation"
    To give context:
    • Audition CS6
    • All other applications are closed
    • 26 audio tracks
    • Approx. 22 seconds long in total
    • Average of 2 effects per track
    • I've reinstalled the program twice now
    My computer:
    • iMac (2010)
    • 3.4GHz Intel Core i7
    • 16 GB 1333 MHz DDr3
    • Flash and HDD storage (which are not full)
    • OSX 10.8.2
If anyone can offer any advice, that would be great!
I have to get this done by this Monday (May 6, 2013).
So I really hope Audition won't fail me, since it has always been successul until now (which is why I'm stumped).

'Not enough memory' hasn't got anything to do with your HD, but the amount of RAM available to Audition at the time it needs it. All DAWs, to work efficiently and successfully, need most of the machine to be free from running other apps. The reason for this is simple; If another app trys to hog a machine that's running a process in real time, it inevitably hiccups the machine. And if this other app has reserved RAM addresses for its own use, they aren't available until it's stopped.
Typical nasties involve anti-virus software, and the machine doing things like repeatedly polling a wireless connection, but there are plenty more, and this applies equally to Macs and PCs.
So the 'update' you need to rectify most of these problems is one you have to carry out yourself. Audio editing is a bit of an oddball from this POV - you invariably need a very lightly loaded machine for it to be reliably successful. The machine I use as a DAW doesn't do anything else at all; all unnecessary services are stopped whilst it's in this mode, and the physical spec of it is similar to yours - except it's a PC running W7-64Pro.

  • Audition CS6

I have Final Cut Pro.  Mac Pro computer.  Snow Leopard operating system.  Can Audition CS6 be purchased as a stand alone unit, or do I have to buy the entire Creative Suite?

You'll be able to buy Audition all by itself.  It supports FCXML sessions exported from FCP and should play very well.
Pricing and release dates have yet to be announced, but if you purchase Au CS5.5 between now and May 6, 2012 from the adobe website, you'll receive a free upgrade to CS6 when it's released.
