Audition CS6: Why no more 64 bit version of Audition?

Audition CS6: Why no more 64 bit version of Audition?  There used to be 64 bit Audition in CS5.5.

The biggest hurdle is plug-ins. If they could figure out a reliable way to wrap 32-bit plug-ins for 64-bit platforms, they'd probably make the transition more quickly, but a lot of the plug-in developers have been slow to make the jump. I imagine Audition will be 32-bit for at least one more release.

  • Browse in Adobe Bridge CS6 - default to 64-bit version

I have Adobe Bridge CS6 32-bit and 64-bit installed. I prefer to use the 64-bit version, but whenever I right-click a folder in Windows Explorer and choose 'Browse in Adobe Bridge CS6', the 32-bit version always opens. How can I make this default to the 64-bit version? There doesn't seem to be a way to uninstall the 32-bit version.

    Edit your System Registry on:
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\Bridge
Change the path that is pointing at 32bit version and set it to point at the location of 64bit version:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Bridge CS6 (64 Bit)\Bridge.exe "%L"

  • 64-bit version of Adobe Audition 3.0?

Hi. It appears the 64-bit enthusiasm is growing around the world, even in 3rd World countries! My question is this: Does Adobe have a 64-bit version of Audition to run on Vista Ultimate 64-bit?

If you have an Adobe support login, you can download a fix that supposedly lets you run Audition under Vista64 SP1, yes. The direct link is http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=92&platform=Windows
I say 'supposedly' because I've never tried it, so I can't confirm what will happen if you run it.

  • Audition CS6 CD Tracks

I was wondering if anyone knows how to get CD track markers to convert to CD tracks in Audition CS6. For years I've used Audition 3 and was able to put CD track markers into an audio file in Edit view, and then right click on the file, select "Insert into CD List" and have a complete list show up in the CD view. From there I could select "Write CD" and create a disc.
Now, with Audition CS6 I'm able to put in the CD track markers, and can even see them in the markers list as CD track markers, but when I go to the CD Editor view only the entire audio file appears. So I was wondering how I get the markers to appear in the CD Editor view in the same way they would show up in the CD view in Audition 3. I'm hoping someone has an answer to this as I haven't been able to find anything about it in the help files or on these forums. Thanks.

Don't understand what you're talking about - but there again, I don't think you do either...
You've proposed a 'solution' that could probably make things worse, not better and you're calling me an obstructionist? You want help and explanations? Okay, here are some:
There are fundamental problems here. The first problem is that the documentation about CD writing is at best sparse, and at worst downright confusing. And the second problem stems from this - it doesn't appear to be made clear anywhere that you can't burn a CD direct from multitrack view without mixing it down first. Nor does it explain why this is, but I can explain the roots of it.
The background is quite straightforward, really. When you play back a multitrack mix, you're playing a bunch of files into a mixer and streaming the result direct to your sound device. Chances are you're working in 32-bit as well. What you haven't got at that point is a real 16-bit stereo 44.1k file for each track, and without this you can't get any CD writer to work (you need the file so that things like buffer under-run protection can function). Now whilst I suppose that it would be possible to persuade Audition to work all this detail out for you in the background, and produce these files, working out their durations from the timeline markers - which is what it will do with 32-bit not 44.1k files in Edit view - the devs appear to have taken the view that doing this from unmixed-down files is a jump too far, and not what people would want to do anyway.
From the above, I can only conclude that this isn't true, and that people do want to do this. And it raises a number of issues. What's fundamentally going on here isn't just a layout issue - the command structure is there, yes - but to make the CD-writing commands work, the devs have to decide how much work they are prepared to do in the background for you. But this is in part constrained by another issue, which is that Audition has now got to conform to an Adobe 'institutionalised' layout, and work in a very similar way to programs like Premiere. This puts different types of menus, with different options on them, in different places, and because this is audio, a video-style layout isn't intuitive for CD production, no.
To be fair, CD writing is probably the biggest victim of this, and it does need some further consideration, I think. As does Adobe's policy on providing help files and manuals. I understand that there are significant cost implications to this though, and 'minimalism' is helping to keep the product costs down.
The bottom line though, is that every time a new Audition version has come out over the last few iterations, fundamental things have been changed, and sometimes not for the better. But if you don't do this, then you can't innovate the product. Your feeling that things have been 'tacked on' isn't a correct way of looking at it at all - far from it, in fact. With CS5.5 a new shell was built, and the intention has been to add things to this - and it's still happening. Some things work better than others, and at present CD writing is one that needs some careful thought, apparently.
Also, to clear up one other thing that isn't clear in the above posts, no you don't need to include a marker at the start and end of a file if you don't want those sections of it to be turned into ranges. But if you want to include them and turn them into ranges, then you do - and it's always been like that, whatever version you've had.

In Adobe Audition CS6 and Unlike the previous version(s) of Adobe Audition the Arabic file name didnt show from right to left in the files panel and in the file name tab as shown
please note that I did select (English with arabic Support) when I installed Audition.
It must be read from left to right. while the correct reading of it is right to left. And the example above must be read "ملف للتجربة"
    # I think this problem is common with non arabic support in all CS6 software like after effect for example.

Audition does not support right-to-left language display at this time, though I'll submit a feature request.  I doubt it will be supported for filenames until such time as the application itself is localized for Arabic and other right-to-left languages.

have a question to ask ... I bought, at the time, the update of Adobe Audition CS6, being already in possession of the CS5.5 version. Since I had to redo the operating system (windows 7 professional 64-bit), reistallando program CS6, with the corresponding serial number in my possession, I noticed a malfunction that is:

  • Why does Silverlight install process state that my 64-bit Win Vista OS does NOT support the 64-bit version of Silverlight?

As of Monday 4/20, I've encountered a significant problem with Silverlight on my Vista PC.
Several weeks ago I read a brief item stating that Google would be dropping support for npapi and that it would affect Silverlight sometime in April.  One of my key daily apps uses Silverlight, but I didn't receive notification from that software's author
about the pending change and how it would be handled.  Successfully used the app every week (Mon-Fri) this month for 8-10 hrs/dy day (as I've been doing for the past ~5+ years: past year under Chrome, year before that under FireFox, ~3 prior years
under IE) and on Fri 4/17 shut it down for the weekend.  When I booted up on Mon morning and tried to log into the key app however, it prompted me to download and install Silverlight, acting as though I never had it installed!
I recalled the earlier warning about Google dropping support, so I closed Chrome, started up FireFox, but got the same prompt from the app -- it directed me to install Silverlight.  I downloaded it (had no choice as to which version, just got the "Silverlight_x64.exe"
file) and got part-way through the install when this error msg popped up:  "Unable to Install Silverlight.  Your operating system does not support the 64-bit version of Silverlight".  WHAT?!   Clicking on the "more info"
link led to this msg:  "Message ID: 1518.  Your operating system does not support the 64-bit version of Silverlight.  Click here for the latest version of Silverlight."  That link simply led back to the download page which resulted
in receiving another copy of the same executable file.
According to my system ( > Control Panel > System ), I'm running "Windows Vista Home Premium", with a "System Type:  64-bit Operating System".  I've been using this same Vista PC since Sep 2008 and running Silverlight for
    around the past 5 yrs.
? -- Why doe the Silverlight installer code flag my OS as not supported?
? -- Is there a way to get an older version of Silverlight that will run under Vista?
Thanks in advance for any helpful comments.

Andy -- Thanks for the link, but I'm not adventurous enough to download from a non-MSFT site.
Besides, since I didn't make any changes to my hardware/software config, I expect a MSFT rep to explain why their two programs suddenly stopped working together and then provide whatever code fix is needed.  A phone call to their tech support (predictably)
led to nowhere but a recommendation to purchase one of the company's support offerings (which I declined to pursue).  The Silverlight development team appears to participate in these forums, so I'd hope one or more of them offers a realistic solution.
Here's something I forgot to mention in my original post:  In several of the threads on this subject (some dating back to 2008!), people have
suggested running IE as the browser vs FireFox or Chrome; however, that idea fails to note that the error msg (Message ID:1518) clearly states that "your operating
system does not support the 64-bit version of Silverlight"; it doesn't say anything about
    what browser you're using.

  • Why is there no Boot Camp support for the 64-bit version of Windows 7 on the 64-bit iMac that I'm using?

    The early 2008 24" iMac 8,1 has a 2.8 ghz E8235 Intel Core 2 Duo processor with a data width of 64-bits.
I am straining badly to understand why Apple is only providing drivers for the 32-bit version of Windows 7 for the 64-bit hardware that I want to install it on.

The 64 bit drivers are there, but there have been some installation
issues depending on Windows OS and Apple hardware.  You may
want to post on the Bootcamp forum to get more direct response to
    your issue.
FWIW, at one point, I forget when, I found I needed to manually
open the 64 bit versions of the drivers to install them that were created
on the bootcamp driver install disk (image).  As I recall the was a
64 bit .msi "global" installer but even at that there was an individual
one that needed to be manually installed.
Its been a while since I last did this since I have been doing everything
in Windows virtual machines with Parallels.

  • How do I export the workspace I set up in CS6 32 bit to the 64 bit version?

I've grown to accept that workspaces can't be simply exported from a previous version of AI and imported into the next one. So I painstakingly set up my workspace in the 32 bit version of Illustrator CS6, all the panels laid up over 2 screens in the way I use them most eficiently to suit my personal workflow, thinking that the 64 bit version would also have the same workspace available once I start it. Silly me! Why should I have thought things could be so straightforward? Well OK, they don't share workspaces - so how do I export my workspace that I saved in the 32 bit AI to the 64 bit version? That must be do-able surely - if we need to switch versions obviously we want to maintain consistency. But I just can't figure out how. Please help.

You need to copy your workspace file manually from the 32 bit version into the 64 bit version.
This is the mac  CS5 location (I am at work), and the PC location should be similar. Or do a search of your drive for the workspace name.
You will need to restart for this to take effect. Wou will also probably have to export 32 bit actions, and load them in your 64 bit version along with changing popular setting like paste remembers layers.

  • How to Delete 32 Bit Version of CS6 (but not removing 64 bit version)?

I created a bit of a problem.  I have CS6 on a Win 7 64-bit system.  I originally installed only the 64 bit version, but then several months later I installed the 32 bit version (don't ask why).  Now the following file types are associated with teh 32 bit version:  tif, tiff, psd and cr2 (I have associated jpg with a different program, so they are not a problem).  I have tried to change the file association by (1) using Control Panel > Default Programs > Associate a file type to associate with the 64 bit version and (2) specifiying the default program from the context menu when right clicking on a file.  All to no avail, as these files remain associated with the 32 bit version of CS6.
So I decided to uninstall the 32 bit version.  But that won't work either.  As you can see from the image, below, I can uninstall the 64 bit version but not the 32 bit version, which is the exact opposite of what I want to do.
I will be happy for any suggestions, either to uninstall the 32 bit version or to get Windows to make the association between the tif, psd and cr2 files and the 64 bit version of CS6.
    Thanks for your help.
    Best regards,
    David

Because it's a text report and not a selectable list. BTW, just leave them, they only waste a small bit of disk space and don't affect performance.

  • Issues with 64 bit version of PS CS6 and now CC hanging, also sniffer_gpu.exe

I cannot use the 64 bit version of Photoshop for awhile now. I had hoped that with CC coming out that would fix the problem, but it hasn't. I am able to use the 32 bit version, so after putting some time in with Adobe tech support to no avail after some hours, I'd just used that, but with the problem continuing in the latest edition I figured I should deal with it.
I am running Windows 7 pro, an intel core i7 950 processor, and an AMD (ATI) Radeon HD 5700 video card.
Both 64 bit versions of Photoshop hang for me before I can open any file. Looking in the resource monitor, at the wait chain, it states, 'one or more threads of Photoshop.exe are waiting to finish network I/O.'. The only way I can close the app then is by manually killing it in task manager or resource monitor.
One thing I've noticed that may or may not be related, sniffer_gpu.exe only appears in the resource monitor while running a 64 bit version of Photoshop, both CS6 and CC. Once it appears, it seems to continually use 12% of my cpu, and even after I kill Photoshop, it continues to run and use 12% of my cpu, until I kill it as well. This does not happen at all when I run the 32 bit versions, I do not even see sniffer_gpu.exe appear.
Anyone have a clue what the problem might be?

Way back when, I did indeed uninstall and reinstall my Catalyst drivers, still no luck, still same problem.
Finally today, some 6 months later, I was again dealing with Photoshop Phone tech support for another hour or two, including much hold time, finally having the issue excalated, as all software and drivers seemed up to date, and yet all versions of the gpu sniffer program still could not identify my gpu.
After I got off the phone with them, I went to the AMD site and followed instructions on how to uninstall and reinstall their software. One step I had not thought of or tried was, after uninstalling the Catalyst software, repairing the .Net 4.5.1 framework through the Microsoft site before reinstalling the Catalyst software. It somehow seems that though the Catalyst installer software supposedly installs the .Net 4.5 framework, it cannot, unless the framework is already installed...
Anyway, this does seem to have finally gotten the 64bit Version of Photoshop to finally work on my desktop.

That's what I thought. I didn't realise that there were that many cut down versions of Windows. So I wouldn't have thought that anyone trying to run Audition would be still using such a basic version. But you live and learn.

For those of us in digital media creation Quicktime is a highly used App, how ever access to 4+ gigs of ram is more important. I'm making the switch to a 64-bit OS in the next week or so, and it's really frustrating to see that Apple, after how many years since XP64 first hit, STILL does not have a 64-Bit version of Quicktime. What is the hold up?
I also don't understand how they can release something where one of the main features is busted for multiple versions. I had to stick with an older version of QT for quite awhile before the load image sequence was fixed. Why are their Windows customers treated as second class citizens?
