Audition for Mac problems since OSX upgrade

Hello,
I upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard and I now can't record or playback anything in Audition.  Everything seems fine in the Audio hardware preferances window but in the Audio Channel mapping window it says Device query failed.
i hope someone can help
Chris

This may be a known issue that can sometimes occur when upgrading OS X.  The quickest solution is to open Finder and navigate to /Library/Preferences/  and delete or rename the file  com.apple.audio.AggregateDevices.plist
Launch Audition and OS X should rebuild this file.  You may need to configure your audio devices once more in Audition's preferences dialog, but usually this is not necessary.  Also note that this file is located in the main /Library folder on your hard drive, NOT the one in your Users folder.

  • Audition for macs will be an upgrade for present users?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but if I want to get the Mac version of Audition will it be priced as an upgrade from Audition 3 for me, or will I have to pay the full price for a new software?

Typically you can't change platforms in an upgrade but I think I remember a post about something like this before.  The responder might have stated in the post that you can change platforms but only do it once in a lifetime and you might have to get on the phone with Adobe to do it or use the Customer Support Portal to address the issue via email with Adobe.

If you have Office 2004 or a copy of Office 2008 you haven't yet installed, no. If you've installed Office 2008 or have Office 2011, yes.

  • Audition for Mac not recording

I have just installed the new Audition for Mac on my iMac which has plenty of memory, is up to date and a good hard drive. I can edit pre-rec material without a problem BUT I cannot record anything from (e.g.) iTunes or YouTube! All I get is a blank edit screen. No error messages - just a request - Do I want to save? I can record OK via the built in mic.
It looks like a conflict somewhere but I've no idea. Input and Output are set to Soundflower 2ch.
    Please can anyone help?
    Thanks

I'm not a Mac user so a question for those who are:  if you're using dedicated manufacturer drivers, should Core Audio be involved at all?  On a PC based system, once you have the manufacturer drivers installed, they bypass the operating system sound drivers--but I'm not sure if Macs work this way.
Also, the early versions of Mavericks (which I believe your 10.8.4) were known to be flakey in terms of audio use.  Many pro users were refusing to do the upgrade. Apple have rushed out a bug fix (10.9.1 from memory but check me) and, on the Focusrite page, I note that they have a new driver for the new Mavericks...I'd try upgrading both the OS and the drivers.

Thanks for responding. Since I upgraded ITUNES to IOS 6, my IPOD Touch no longer works at all. I had numerous apps, music and videos on this touch. It made me restore to factory reset and it still does not work!!! Nothing I do will work on this touch now. I have so much data on this, I don't want to loose or have to restore!
    Can you help me?
    Thanks

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

  • What happens when the trial ends? (Audition for Mac)

Might be a silly question - forgive me, I'm a novice.
I just downloaded Audition for Mac - and was surprised that it's free!
And when the public beta trial ends - do you lose all your sessions? are you given first dibs for upgrading to the new paid-for software?
One last one - What can't you do on this version that you can do on Audition 3.0 for Windows?
    Thanks!

When the public beta ends, you have to purchase a copy of the release version. You will find that the beta version suddenly won't work any more... and I would imagine that you'll get the same purchase options as everybody else. As for session loss - well you won't lose them if you purchase the software; they'll still open fine.
One last one - What can't you do on this version that you can do on Audition 3.0 for Windows?
That's a much more complicated question to answer - simply because we haven't made a definitive list yet, and for non-disclosure reasons I can't say anything more than Adobe has already made public. The one thing that's hacking off a lot of AA3.0 users at present is that it is confirmed that the new version won't write CDs directly, though. Also it's a matter of public knowledge that there will be no MIDI sequencing capability either, but personally I'd have that as a gain, not a loss! For a lot of Mac users though, none of this will be an issue because they never had it in the first place; therefore they can hardly miss it...

  • Why can't I attach files with my hotmail account on my mac pro since I upgraded to lion?

why can't I attach files with my hotmail account on my mac pro since I upgraded to lion?

i can' t believe it but after 3 hours of reading everything i could find on this subject i discovered the answer on accident: IT'S THE CLOCK!!!!! I know that it sounds crazy but go to settings and go to date and time and set it to the automatic date and time, even if it's the wrong time. after i did that, everything worked perfectly! aldiko accepted my adobe id and imported my purchased book happily.  i hope it is that easy for everyone, best of luck.

  • I have Quicken for mac 2005, can I upgrade to Maverick from OS X 10.6.8?

I have Quicken for mac 2005, can I upgrade to Maverick from OS X 10.6.8 and not keep all data?

I am new to the Apple Support community but am hopeful that you can help me!!  I have just bought a MacBook Air, migrated my stuff and found that my Quicken for Mac 2005 is no longer supported. (I still have my Quicken 2005 working on my Mac OS X - Version 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard?)  I saw a thread of communications back in 2012/13 where you helped a lot of people find ways to get their 2005 data into new versions - something about a $15 purchase.  However, I can't find those discussions again.  AND I don't know if they are 'relevant' because I'm now using the latest Yosemite, which someone just told me to upgrade for free....But this same person told me to switch to iBank, which others who have used Quicken for years didn't like.  I'd just as soon stay with Quicken but it seems like they have less support for Mac users.  Do you think I can move my data successfully still?  I live and work overseas and leave the USA on Monday and am trying to leave my older MacBook Air (the one with my 2005 Quicken on it) here....
    Thanks for any advice.

    Hi guidolal,
Are you facing the issue with any pdf's on the Mac.
Have you tried downloading a sample pdf like any Adobe help file from the website and then check if you are able to launch it fine via Reader?
    Regards,

  • I chat problem since Leopard upgrade.

I recently upgraded to Leopard, now i chat has an issue. When I click on a buddy, a window opens with my icon and a bubble, however when I type and hit return I see nothing. In addition when my buddy responds I see his/hers icon and bubble briefly then it disappears with no text.

I've been having this same problem since I upgraded to Leopard. Also my buddy list is grey and displays all my contacts online or not. The privacy features also are not accessible and say that I can't change them because I am not logged in, but I am logged in according to the main screen. I am behind a netgear router most of the time and connect wirelessly to an airport express. My provider is Comcast. I have changed the port to 443, tried the fix listed here, tried to fix it using onyx, and I'm sure more. At this point I am using Adium because I can't get iChat to work. I want to use iChat as I really like the new features and it was one of the reasons I upgraded to Leopard in the first place.

  • .mac problems since 10.4.8 upgrade?

Ever since upgrading to 10.4.8, I have to constantly reenter my .mac password to receive mail. I'll notice my mail icon bouncing, and when I check it, I get the message that I my password for .mac mail has been rejected and I must reenter it. I do so, add it to my keychain, and it works for awhile. Then for unknown reasons, same message, etc. It's getting really old. I'm curious how many others are having this same experience. I'm about ready to do a warranty "chat" with Apple and officially report the problem, since they don't seem to be doing anything about it.

    Hi, John.
    1. You wrote: "They don't mention it as related to the 10.4.8 upgrade, but I did not have the problem before that."True. It could be a bug in the Update, it could be a bug in .Mac mail at Apple's end (mail server or other network issues), it could be both. If I were a betting man, I'd probably put a couple of bucks on the latter.
The 10.4.8 Update has been available since 26 September 2006. Their workaround document is dated 6 October 2006, which probably means they were aware of the problem at least on 6 October, but it could also have been a tad earlier and, after trying some fixes, they decided to publish the workaround document while they continue to troubleshoot the issue.
When did you install the 10.4.8 Update?
    2. You could check the .Mac Discussion to see if there were a raft of posts about the problem within the days immediately following 26 September that also note the problem not occurring before installing 10.4.8.
    3. If it's a major problem — e.g. it's costing you a couple of hours of productivity — you could try a downgrade install to 10.4.7, which would also take a couple of hours. Frankly, I'd say a downgrade would be overkill at the moment, given that Apple's .Mac folks appear to be on the case, but it is an option.
Downgrade installs can be very dodgy. Apple does not recommend them, as they note in the "About 'Downgrade' installations" section at the end of "Mac OS X: Troubleshooting installation and software updates." Additional information about why downgrade installs are problematic can be found in "Applications don't work after reinstalling Mac OS X."
If you want to try a downgrade install to 10.4.7 from 10.4.8, you can see my "General advice on performing an Archive and Install" FAQ. In step (4b), install the Mac OS X 10.4.7 Combo Update, then follow the rest of the steps. Note that:• Downgrade installs are performed at your own risk. While the downgrade method outlined above has worked for many, Apple does not recommend downgrade installations and one cannot account for how variances between individual users' systems may affect the outcome. Again, use at your own risk: you break it, you fix it.
    • I would only test third-party applications in Step 5 as Apple apps are likely to run into the issues with the Previous Systems folder noted in "Applications don't work after reinstalling Mac OS X."
    • Apple apps should be safe to test after Step 6, but you may still run into problems due to 10.4.8-related changes in preferences files in your Home > Library > Preferences folder. Discarding the preferences files for Apple applications that are problematic after a downgrade install may solve the problem with those applications. Finally, before installing future software updates, you may wish to consider the advice in my "Installing Software Updates" FAQ. Taking the steps therein before installing an update often helps avert problems and gives you a fallback position in case trouble arises.
    Good luck!

  • Why is the item count in Photos for Mac significantly higher after upgrading from iPhoto?

Since upgrading to Photos for Mac from iPhoto, I've noticed the number of photos and videos in my library is higher than what I had before. Granted I imported some photos into the new app since then but taking that into account there's still a big discrepancy.
In iPhoto 9.6.1, the item count is 13,394 and I have since imported 95 new items into Photos for Mac. The total then should be 13,489 but Photos for Mac lists the item count at 13,626. That's a difference of 137 items.
Even taking into consideration that Photos for Mac might be including the 32 photos and videos that were in iPhoto's Trash (now Recently Deleted) folder, it still wouldn't account for 105 mystery items.
Does anyone have any insight into this difference in the number of items?
