Audition's Spectral Analysis Bug

Hello there, 'ive been using audition for a short period of time and i've found it one of the best recording/editing softwares i have ever used. Anyway, there's something on the spectral analysis window that is bothering me. I don't if it's just some configuration that is messed up or if it is the fact that i'm new to it, but it appears nothing, just a white and stuffless window. I'm attaching a .jpg so you may undestand the issue.
How could i fix this issue?

If you wouldn't mind sending me a quick info file from Audition, I may know the cause of that problem.  In Audition, if you click Help > About Adobe Audition and click the SYSTEM INFO button, it will write out a text file with some information about the installation.  If you could send that as an attachment to [email protected], I'd appreciate it very much.  I'll be better able to verify if what we believe to be the cause of the effects issue you describe is in fact relevant to your installation.
Thanks in advance,
Durin

  • Remove blue line in spectral analysis; paintbrush not selectable

I'm trying to remove a persons talking from a sound file.  His talking shows up in spectral analysis as the color blue.  Is there some way to select and mute it?  The paintbrush is not selectable, tried to do this manually.  Audition clearly identifies the speaking, so if it could be removed, that'd be great.
    Thanks

Sounds like you may have "Spectral Pitch Display" on, which draws a blue line for pitch correction and analysis, but does not expose the selection tools as you've seen.  Just turn on standard "Spectral Frequency" view and the paintbrush and other spectral selection tools will be enabled.  (You can click the left-most Spectral button in the tool bar, or just use the SHIFT+D default shortcut)

  • 8051 based spectral analyser

    Greetings,
I am working on a project that consists in creating a spectral analyser for the power line using the 8051 and the ADC0808 for analog to digital conversion. In the LabVIEW I am trying to sample the waveform of the power line and use the FFT algorithm to perform the spectral analysis with 0Hz to 2.5kHz of range.
Do you think that is possible to use this uC with no problems to perform this application with the Instrument I/O Assistant? Here is the screenshot that what I am trying to do.
Observation: The frequency of the desired signal that I am trying to sample is equal to 60Hz and the ADC0808 has a conversion time equal to 100us.
    Thanks,

The I/O Assistant is used to help you establish communication with serial, GPIB, Ethernet devices. It does not, however, process signals in any way.  You should be able to establish communication without any problems using the I/O Assistant.
To perform an FFT analysis of your signal, you will need to use one of the many signal processing VIs in LabVIEW. There are express VIs that do Spectral Measurements as well.
    I hope this helps

  • Spectral analysis of an acquired signal

    Hello there,
I am trying to acquire a signal for spectral analysis. I have set the analog input VI to 1Chan/NSamp/Dbl format, and fed the data to the express spectral analyzer VI. The VI is set to acquire arrays of 100 samples length, before feeding it to the FFT VI. The problem is, however, that the waveform graph I use to present the spectral distribution shows spectral analysis for a bandwidth of 0.5 Hz only (0 to 0.5 Hz), and I have no clue why this happens. I am sure there is something I do not know about how to set the application to go right.
P.S. I have also tried the low level FFT VI, the wavegorm graph shows a bandwidth corresponding to the number of samples being acquired at each iteration, (100 in my case), which really confuses me. I have looked at the examples, and none of them uses DAQ for FFT, they all use signal generators which work fine with me.
Does anyone have an idea of what I am doing wrong, any help shall be greatly appreciated...
    Thankyou for your patience,,,

  • Spectral Analysis using Lightroom

A bit of an odd question, but I would appreciate any help.
Is it possible to use Lightroom as a spectral analysis program for standardized images?
    For example:
I have numerous standardized images of geological samples.  Some are lighter, some darker depending on the makeup of the sample.  Can I export the spectral histogram from Lightroom as a data point for the composition of each sample?  Is there any way to access the histogram/spectral data in a way that allows it to be quantified and placed into a database?
    Thanks for the help!
    -Marshall

The histogram is based on Melissa RGB which is ProPhoto RGB primaries with a gamma (TRC) of 1.0 which isn’t easily exported so I doubt this is going to be useful to you. The histogram (here or in Photoshop etc) are not based on spectral data anyway. This is probably more useful for you:

  • Could I do the spectral analysis of blood pressure data only use your software?

    Dear,
I am doing an experiment about baroreflex (Blood pressure reflex) using a system of PowerLab (ADInstruments). I have many data that I want to do Spectral analysis and try to find specific software to do that. I found from literature that you may have a software (LabView?) could do spectral analysis of blood pressure.  If so, could I do the spectral analysis only use your software?
    Thank you,

    Hello mlin,
LabVIEW can interface with your transducers using hardware.  Once the acquisition is over, LabVIEW can get the data and convert the time information into the frequency domain so that you can see the amplitude of each of the frequencies involved with the signal.  I am just curious about the equipment you will be using.  You will need some data acquisition cards that have drivers for LabVIEW unless you are just getting the information from a desktop instrument.  If you are using a desktop instrument, then LabVIEW could send the commands to automate the process.  I hope this answers your question.

  • Spectral analysis?

what are people using for spectral analysis in logic express. ive tried searching the internet and cant find any good options. obviously it needs to be au and since im running intel it also needs to be ub. oh yea and free would be pretty nice too. haha.

I was using Inspector. It's still free.

  • Spectral analysis with 10 averages using 10 lvm files

    Hi
I would like to create a spectal analysis of some results i have saved in lvm files in labview 7
is it possible to use the averaging option in the spectral measurement function to do 10 averages if i read 10 lvm files
    ie.
    Read lvm file #1
    do spectrum analysis
    read lvm file #2
redo spectrum analysis and average results between file #1 and file #2
    read lvm file #3
    ect
    Thanks in advance
    Mark Thompson

    hi there
you can swop the order of calculating the average and the FFT. So first read all lvm files, average the time based data and then do the FFT over the averaged data.

  • Higher order spectral analysis

    hi all
Has somebody implemented a labview version of bispectrum, cyclostationarity and other hosa tools?
Is NI planning to add a HOSA toolbox for Labview?

"Qod natura non dat, Salmantica non praestat"

    Hello Alipio,
I'm not aware of any toolkit that covers that area. The most similar toolkit NI provides is the Signal Processing Toolkit, and you can see its features here:
    http://www.ni.com/pdf/products/us/4msw69-70.pdf
If this doesn't satisfy your needs, I would:
    a) Search Alliance Members with signal processing knowledge. You can look here:
    http://www.ni.com/alliance
    b) Search other parties tools. These 2 links may help:
    http://c.webring.com/hub?ring=labview
    http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Programming/Languages/LabVIEW/
    c) Use already coded external code (DLLs, etc..) that implement the algorithms.
    Good luck !

  • Audition CS5.5 Open '*.PCM' As: dialog forgets settings

After using Audition 1.0 for several years, my work finally sprung for an upgrade to CS5.5! (They needed more Audition licences and had trouble finding version 1.0)
My typical usage is analysing underwater recordings which are 96kHz 16-bit PCMs.
In both Audition 1.0 and 5.5 you have to specify upon opening:
    - Sample Rate
    - Channels
    - Encoding
    which I completely understand.
However, where Audition 1.0 remembered your last used settings (which is great, because I rarely look at anything other), Audition 5.5 is defaulting to 8K, 8-bit PCM each and everytime a PCM is opened. Even when Audition has not been closed!
This is INCREDIBLY frustrating and I still find myself using Audition 1.0 despite the great performance increases (spectral analysis) of 5.5.
Does anyone else have this problem? As a thorough search of this forum and Google did not find anything.
    Cheers
    Rodney
(Don't get me started on my display name for this forum. Every decent name I came up with was already taken so I resorted to a keyboard mash!)

I think this is an OS X 10.8 thing rather than a CS5.5/OS X 10.8 thing – but I would really like a fix for this too, nnotnorth

  • Number of Points used in FFT calcuations using Spectral Measurements

    Hi folks,
I'm a pretty new user of labview (Ver 7.1) and I am trying to perform spectral analysis of power systems to ensure that they comply with stated standards. I'm using PXI-1002 system with PXI-6025E DAQ cards. I am able to get the analogue data into the program and display the time and frequency domain data to screen however I require a specific resolution to the spectral analysis to comply with the standard. obviously I can set the sampling frequency but I am unable to set the number of points of the actual FFT using either the "spectral measurements" function or other specific FFT VIs.
Can the number of points be set manually or do the functions some how deside the best number of points depending on the amount of data passed to it, I've found that increasing the "Scan to read at a time" value of the AI config VI I'm using seems to increase the resolution but I don't know how the FFT functions deal with "Scan to read at a time" values that are not of 2^n.
    Cheers

90% of all experts aggree that 1 out of 10 experts are wrong

    Hi,
The answer lies in the labVIEW Help file< If you dig deep enough through the hierarchy of the Spectral Measurment Express VI's, you will end up eventually to the Power Spectrum.vi or Real FFT.vi that can be found in the Analyze>>Signal Processing>>Frequency Domain Palette (see screenshot attached)>
The computation details are given in the help for those VIs
I will let you go through those files for details, but basically, when the number of samples in the input signal is a valid power of 2, the VIs compute the fast Fourier transform using the a fast radix-2 FFT algorithm.
When the number of samples in the input sequence is not a valid power of 2 but is factorable as the product of small prime numbers, the VIs compute the discrete Fourier transform using an efficient DFT algorithm according to the type of trnasorm that is executed (i.e Real, Complex)
But the help file explains it better than me
    Hope this helps,

  • Auditing in Orchestrator, several questions

    Hi everybody,
My customer demands auditing on who is starting a runbook via the Orchestration Console. In my test environment I enabled auditing via the command atlc.exe.
    There are a few questions:
Where can I find information how much audit information is collected, is there a formula for that? I only can find the filesize of 200 MB.
Why is the username who has started the runbook via the Orchestration Console not in the audit logfiles? Technet say's the username is collected. (see technet website).
    The logfiles says: "2014-Jan-06 10:45:01", "SERVERNAME","Runbookname","called runbookname"
So I only see the name of the server where the runbook ran, not even the computer I called it from. BTW, this is the runbookpublisher audit file. For bullet 2 I found a
solution . But this is only a workarround. The audit information behaves differently than described on technet.
    Best regards,
    Mark Slootweg

    Hi Mark,
This should point you in the right direction.  Let me know if you see any improvements that can be made or feature requests.
    http://jmattivi.blogspot.com/2012/09/audit-jobs-started-from-orchestration.html
I actually need to update the post to add a change to the parsing PowerShell script to allow for any character via Here-String.
    $RawResults = @'
    <Published Data>
    $MyObjectCol = @()
    $Regex = [regex] '/*__%__'
    $Results = $Regex.Split("$RawResults")
    ForEach($Data in $Results)
Also, the internal auditing has had a bug that causes performance degradation (I forget off the top of my head what the exact issue was and to my knowledge has not been fixed yet).

  • AV - Top Five Audit Sources by Number of Alerts - INTERNAL ERROR

    Hi again!
We have one problem with audit vault console while connecting with auditor role.
There's one strange problem that occurs intermitently when clicking on "Top Five Audit Sources by Number of Alerts " graph on audit vault home page.
Sometimes it works perfectly and maybe next time it produces an internal error. It does not follow any logic. Maybe it works 1,2,3,... times and next one it doesn't and the links carriess you to an empty page with "INTERNAL ERROR" message.
It is something related with the url.
When you place the mouse coursor on the graph you can see the url at the bottom of internet explorer/firefox.
It's something like this: (it works)
    http://<av hostname>:5707/av/console/database/avt/:::::P2_REPORT_TYPE,P2_DATE_TYPE,P2_SOURCE:WARNING_ALERT,DAY,<source name>
then you continue working come back to home page and place the cursor again on it. Then sometimes you see the same url(all it's going to work) or the next one:
    http://<av hostname>:5700/av/console/database/avt/:::::P2_REPORT_TYPE,P2_DATE_TYPE,P2_SOURCE:WARNING_ALERT,DAY,<source name>
As you can see port number has changed misteriously... and it does not work.
The strange thing is that after the error i try to open a new auditor session with another explorer and it some times it works!!! until same thing happens.
Has anyone seen anything like this????? I don't know if it something about Audit Vault configuration, a bug or an internet explorer configuration issue.
i've tried different languages with my explorers and it continues happening ...
All the rest of the parts of the application work perfectly
    Thanks!

Whenever posting here ALWAYS include full version number.
Whenever posting an error post the full and complete error message (not your interpretation of it). "INTERNAL ERROR" in and of itself is meaningless.
I would suggest that you open an SR at metalink.

  • Fft analysis problem

For example, I have a real time FFT data ranging from 0 to 300 Hz, how can I analyze the amplitude on specific frequency only, like what is the amplitude in 50 hz, 98hz etc. What will I do?!!
    Thanks

    Jack,
Since your question is short on specifics, I need to make some assumptions. If you are using the basic FFT function, look at the help file for a definition of the frequency bins. Some of the higher level spectral analysis VIs have a df output which makes determination of the frequency bins very straightforward.
Once you determine the frequency bin width, you just count up to the desired frequency and look at that element of the FFT array. If you have bins that are 2 Hz wide, then 50 Hz will be in the 25th bin (index = 24). Depending on what resolution you have and what kind of windowing was done, the adjacent bins may also have some of the energy of the desired component.
